About the manufacturer
Light-duty Gazelle trucks are produced by the Nizhny Novgorod Automobile Plant. The car was created during perestroika, when the planned economy collapsed, and the newly born Russian market demanded small transportation.
In 1994, the GAZ-3302 was put on the conveyor. He was given the name "Gazelle". As soon as it appeared on the market, it immediately became a people's car, occupying a niche in the budget version of the automotive industry.
The first Gazelle model
In 2005, the plant in Nizhny Novgorod assembled the millionth copy of the Gazelle, which proved the popularity and demand of the vehicle. Vadim Bulavinov, who was the mayor at that time, called the car socially significant for Nizhny Novgorod production.
lines of cars are produced based on Gazelles :
- minibuses;
- trucks;
- flatbed trucks;
- refrigerators.
The Gazelle Next Eurotruck, intended for international travel, also began production. However, more on that later.
General characteristics of cargo Gazelles
Each model range has general similarities. They depend directly on the requirements for the truck. For example, a Gazelle semi-trailer with certain types of body is used to transport goods whose storage and movement requires low temperatures.
Purpose and benefits
The car specializes in light-duty urban transportation , where there is not enough room for turns. Narrow streets, dead-end roads or traffic jams, crowded highways are not a problem.
The compact truck is highly maneuverable, which has become an advantage for urban conditions. He can drive up to any dead end or narrow passage to deliver goods to a store, warehouse or other outlet.
Furniture, building materials, chemicals, and food are delivered by vans. Iron horses become assistants during household relocations to a new apartment or for transportation of private business owners.
This is what the 2022 Gazelle Next model looks like:
The low frame height adds convenience during loading and unloading operations. The time for tenting is reduced to a couple of minutes. Raising goods to a level of one meter is not at all difficult compared to standard onboard structures.
At the very beginning of production, the machine’s units were mounted for gasoline. Now designers are developing a line of models running on liquefied gas. New models are entirely focused on engines that consume diesel fuel.
Dimensions and load capacity
There are three vehicle configurations. Depending on the type, their dimensions are as follows:
- length – from 4.81 to 6.709 meters;
- width – from 2.03 to 2.09 meters;
- height – from 2.3 to 2.57 meters.
By the way! The carrying capacity of a light-duty vehicle ranges from 0.9 to 1.5 tons, but owners strengthen the springs and frame, which makes it possible to increase the load by 0.5 tons.
"Gazelle" with a tilt semi-trailer
The design of the long-length truck allows it to carry loads of up to 7 tons when traveling to distant areas. At the same time, maneuverability is not reduced .
You also need to know how many liters of tank the truck has, so as not to disturb the total tonnage.
By the way! Sometimes the Next model could carry up to 12 tons of cargo. Carriers have repeatedly boasted of such tricks.
Design Features
Regardless of the model, the trucks are equipped with:
- all-metal three-seater cabin, the interior of which is made of hard plastic;
- fabric upholstery of seats;
- aerodynamic cabin shape, reducing fuel consumption;
- mechanical seat adjustment;
- large panoramic windows;
- mechanical window lifters;
- durable plastic bumper;
- drop-shaped headlights;
- cargo platform.
The connecting head, with which the semi-trailer is attached to the cab, is missing.

The cabin is equipped with supply and exhaust ventilation systems. With natural ventilation, air enters the vehicle interior through lowered door windows and exits through the cracks in the interior panels of the front doors, the sunroof, as well as ventilation windows on the rear side pillars and rear windows of buses.
With forced ventilation, the windows and sunroof are closed, the outside air is forced into the cabin by the heater fan without blowing. Passing through the heater body and bypassing its radiator, the air enters the cabin. To do this, move the lower handle on the control panel to the extreme left position and turn on the electric fan. Direction of air flows along the sa-
the bosom is regulated by rotary deflectors.
Forced ventilation should be used in hot weather at low speeds and in parking lots. At speeds above 50 km/h, the interior is ventilated even when the electric fan is turned off only due to the high-speed air pressure. The cabin (salon) is heated with hot air. Passing through the heater radiator (included in the engine cooling system parallel to the main radiator), the air is filled and supplied to the passenger compartment. The heater casing consists of three plastic parts connected by metal brackets and screws. The casing contains a radiator, an electric fan and two central dampers connected between the

Elements of the main heater: 1 – air flow distribution flap for blowing the left side of the windshield, the left front door glass and the driver’s feet; 2 – damper for air flow distribution to the central and side ventilation grilles; 3 – left side of the heater casing; 4 – electric fan; 5 – upper part of the heater casing;
The lineup
The creators presented several variations of the truck. Technical characteristics and equipment directly depend on the assigned functions.
GAZ-3310 "Valdai"
"Bolshevik" among small cars. The Valdai is a truck tractor developed on the Gazelle platform for transporting large, lightweight cargo that is unprofitable to transport in 20-ton vans.
The vehicle's maneuverability makes it possible to work in urban environments. The vehicle is also adapted for long-distance transportation.
Valdai model
The comfortable cabin accommodates three people and has a sleeping bag. The hood, mudguards, and engine compartment panels are covered with sound insulation, which significantly reduces operating noise, making the ride comfortable, as if you were driving a passenger car.
The MMZ D-245.7 engine is freely placed in the engine compartment. At the bottom, the power unit is protected by fireproof basalt linings. The block head has four spark plugs, so at a temperature of -15 the D-245.7 engine starts easily.
The equipment of the Gazelle Next truck includes spring suspension, pneumatic drive, and anti-lock braking system. The machine has increased protection against accidents.
Unlike other cargo trailers, the truck maneuvers perfectly in the opposite direction - it reverses.
On a note. GAZ specialists decided to change the geometry of the front axle beam and made it lower by several millimeters. Therefore, the platform has a low loading height, which greatly facilitates the process of placing goods inside.
Here's how this truck with a semi-trailer-tractor train turns around on the highway:
Dimensions of the Gazelle Eurotent:
- The length of the trailer is 7.5 and 11 meters.
- The volume of the platform with a Euro awning is 82 cubic meters. m.
- Loading capacity – 5-7 tons.
canopy is available in two versions:
- The double Euro curtain moves to the sides.
- Valve method - the awning is manually rolled up.
GAZ-3302
The second name is “Farmer”. The iron horse is designed for cargo and passenger transportation. The cabin seats five people. The tilt body lifts up to a ton.
Van volume – 13 cubic meters. m, the height of the awning is 2 m. The extended wheelbase of the standard version of the car allows you to install a platform 3.1 meters long with an area of 6 square meters on the base. m.
"Farmer"
The curtain is attached to a metal frame with or without sides. Unloading is done through the rear gate or by opening one of the sides. The Gazelle truck is also adapted for overhead work with a truck crane.
Technical indicators:
- Diesel engine, developed jointly with the Austrians, CUMMINS isf 2.8, 148 hp.
- Torque – 1120 rpm.
- Engine life is 150,000 km.

Where can I buy
It is better to buy a Gazelle road train from official dealers produced by GAZ and Chaika-Service . The average price for this model range varies from 105,000 to 1,780,000 rubles , based on the technical characteristics and basic equipment.
You can buy it on lease or on credit. Used vehicles are also available on the Internet.
Having examined all the nuances of the people's car, we can conclude that this car will remain on the Russian market for many more years. And talented designers will refine it to perfection. Consider the truck's fuel consumption in advance. This indicator cannot be changed.
It's better to buy a new car. Used ones can often break down, causing accidents and wasting money.
