Purpose, characteristics and history of appearance
The GAZ 3302 vehicle is designed for transporting cargo of various sizes and volumes, the weight of which does not exceed 1.5 tons.
According to its characteristics, the GAZelle is an on-board vehicle with a metal cabin equipped with two doors. Body with folding rear and side ports and removable awning.
GAZ 3302 became the founder of a whole series of on-board mini vehicles that have a 1.5-ton load-lifting class. Production of the car began in July 1994. The machine underwent revision and improvement for the first time in 2003, and again in 2010. The original budget model has been discontinued.
The appearance of the vehicle immediately makes it clear that this is a very compact mini truck that has good maneuverability. It fits well into city streets and can easily reach any points of the city infrastructure. Owners of medium and small businesses, summer cottages and farmers appreciated the advantages of the car. For them, a light-duty vehicle has become an indispensable assistant.
Dimensions of the Gazelle Business tilt body
The basic Gazelle has the full name GAZ-3302 “Business”. This truck has been produced since 1996. Until 2010, all modernizations and changes concerned only the technical part, while the appearance of the car did not change at all.
In 2010, the first restyling of the model took place. It was then that it received the name Business.
GAZ-3302 "Business"
During restyling, changes affected only the appearance of the truck, while all the equipment was migrated from the previous pre-restyling model.
This model had the following body dimensions (all dimensions are given in millimeters):
- Cargo compartment length - 3056;
- Width along the sides (external) - 2098;
- Internal width - 1900;
- Body height with awning from the ground - 2570;
- Loading height - 1000;
- The height of the body itself with an awning is 1570;
- Side height - 380;
- The volume of the cargo compartment is 9 m³.
For clarity, below is a drawing of the on-board tented Gazelle:
From time immemorial, tarpaulins have been used as awnings on trucks. In the 20th century, this material was considered the most durable and durable. However, these times have irrevocably sunk into oblivion. Today, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is used as a material for awnings. This material is moisture and fire resistant, does not fade in the sun and does not lose its attractive appearance for a long time.
Today, awnings for Gazelles of all modifications are made from PVC. Of course, there are retrograde drivers who cover their cars with tarps, but there are fewer and fewer of them. However, canvas awnings for Gazelle are also produced, although they are not installed at the factory. They need to be purchased separately.
Device
Gas 3302 consists of components, assemblies and support systems. The vehicle structure includes:
1. Frame with cab and body. 2. Engine with attachments and clutch basket. 3. Gearbox. 4. Support systems, which include:
- fuel system;

"Gazelle" with a van
A commercial vehicle has to carry a variety of loads. But a simple body with an awning is not designed for transporting perishable products, and it is not very convenient to transport furniture in it. Therefore, many manufacturing enterprises have taken up the task of improving the small-sized truck. Various vans are installed on the GAZ 3303 or GAZ 33023 “Farmer” base chassis.
Van sizes vary and may vary in height and length. As a rule, only the width is standard.
The purpose and types of vans also differ, they can be:
- Isothermal (assembled from sandwich panels);
- Bread;
- KUNG for auto repair shop;
- Manufactured goods (furniture).
A manufactured goods van transports goods that do not require special temperature conditions.
Example of a manufactured goods Gazelle with a van
Usually the following is transported in such a body:
- Furniture;
- Household appliances;
- Household chemicals;
- Household goods.
Vans made of sandwich panels (isothermal) have a low thermal conductivity coefficient because its walls are lined with high-quality polystyrene foam. This material holds the temperature regime created in a closed volume well.
All vans can be assembled on the following chassis models:
Modification option gas 3302
- GAZ 3302 – base chassis;
- GAZ 33027 – chassis with a 4x4 wheel arrangement (all-wheel drive);
- GAZ 330202 – chassis with an extended frame.
Accordingly, vans can be of three types in length: 3, 4 and 5 meters. The length is approximate and may differ slightly from the figures given. The height of the van itself can be from 1.5 to 2.5 meters. But the width of all vans is usually approximately the same, it ranges from 1.9 to 2.3 m.

The advantages of the car and its disadvantages. Owner reviews
The high popularity of the GAZ 3302 lies in its many advantages. These include:
- Simplicity of design and high degree of maintainability. The design of the vehicle makes it easy to access components and assemblies and allows minor repairs to be carried out by the driver. There is no need to have a large set of different keys and accessories.
- Availability of spare parts and assemblies. These elements are not in short supply. Any component can be purchased at a car store or service station.
- Reliability of the vehicle, components, assemblies. Can work in any climatic conditions, with different loads.
- Good maneuverability. Able to turn around on a small area, in a limited space. Quickly picks up speed.
- Ease of Management. The location of the steering wheel, gear lever and pedals creates ergonomic conditions for the driver to work.
- Small sizes. The dimensions of the car allow you to move along narrow streets and through arched spans.
- Long period of operation. The resource reserve makes it possible to operate the car for more than 10 years without major repairs.
- The presence of a low body. Allows loading and unloading operations to be carried out without the use of lifting equipment.
- Significant load capacity, which makes it possible to transport large loads.
- Relatively low cost of the car.
The car also has weaknesses. These include:
- Low body sides.
- Lack of power steering on early models.
- Late model power steering often leaks.
- The ventilation system in the cabin is poorly efficient.
Many reviews say that the GAZelle 3320 is indispensable on the farm . A small flatbed vehicle is a workhorse that performs many tasks at low maintenance costs. Owners consider increased fuel consumption to be a disadvantage of the car, as a result of which some of them install gas equipment.
Gazelle weight
The weight of the Gazelle also depends on the modification of the car. In addition, different models were equipped with different engines, and the weight of the engines is not the same. It is also logical that the design of the vehicle with a long wheelbase will be heavier than the Sobol or Barguzin.
The basic model GAZ 3302 has a curb weight of 1800-1850 kg, and the total weight of the loaded vehicle is 3500 kg.

Dimensions
The dimensions of a Gazelle car can be known approximately, but sometimes it is necessary to know exactly all its dimensions. For example, a car needs to get into a cramped yard or drive under a low-lying power line. Here is a small table with the main dimensions:
Model | Length, meters | Width, meters | Height, meters |
GAZ 3302 | 5,5 | 2,098 | 2.2 (without awning) 2.57 (with awning) |
GAZ 2705 all-metal body | 5,47 | 2,075 | 2,2 |
GAZ 33023 "Farmer" | 5,47 | 2,098 | 2.2 (without awning) 2.57 (with awning) |
GAZ-2752 "Sable" | 4,81 | 2,03 | 2,2 |
GAZ-2217 "Barguzin" | 4,81 | 2,03 | 2,2 |
GAZ-3221 minibus | 5,47 | 2,075 | 2,2 |
GAZelle Next (short wheelbase) | 5,63 | 2,068 | 2,137 |
GAZelle Next (long wheelbase) | 6,709 | 2,068 | 2,137 |
But not only these basic models are produced by the Gorky Automobile Plant; in addition to this, there are also other modifications.
This is what onboard gas 330202 looks like.
Onboard gas 330202 has an extended base, and with all the same dimensions as the base car 3302, its length has been increased to 6.6 m.
What can it be equipped with? Analogs
A gazelle with a body is the most common option that is produced at the factory. Taking into account the possibility of dismantling the body, the vehicle can be equipped with other equipment and perform various tasks based on the configuration. It could be:
- Refrigerator refrigerator.
- Dump truck with a folding body.
- Isothermal van.
- Tow truck for passenger cars.
- Bread booth.
- Platform for mounting a small crane.
More modern analogues “Farmer”, “Van” and “Next” are designed to increase the functions of the car. “Farmer” is most popular among owners of medium and small businesses and can perform the listed functions. The “Van” vehicle can be used as an armored collection carrier. “Van” and “Next” can be used as a mobile laboratory, an ambulance, or simply for transporting people.
Due to the fact that the GAZ 3302 flatbed has low sides, it is not recommended to equip the vehicle for transporting people in the back.
Varieties of "Gazelles"
Gazelle class vehicles are designed for transporting goods over long and medium distances (up to 500-700 km). The average speed on the highway is 100 km/h.
Option of gazelle 3302 for transporting people
The truck's cabin accommodates up to three people, including the driver. In an extended cab truck
GAZelle "Farmer"
accommodates up to 6 people. Minibuses with a short wheelbase (“Sobol”,
"Sable Barguzin"
) can accommodate up to 6 passengers plus a driver, the GAZ 3221 model and modifications can carry up to 13 people.
The GAZ 3302 flatbed is considered the basic model of a commercial vehicle. Flatbed vehicles were equipped with roll bars and an awning from the factory.
Serial production of the car began in 1994, but since that time many different modifications have been made, including minibuses assembled at GAZ.
The following modifications can be noted in the Gazelle family:
- GAZ 2705 – three-seater metal van;
- GAZ-33023 – on-board vehicle with an extended seven-seat “Farmer” cabin;
- GAZ-2752 - all-metal van with a shortened Sobol base;
- GAZ-2217 - “Barguzin”, a minibus based on the “Sobol”;
- GAZ-3221 is a minibus with a standard base based on an all-metal body 2705.
There were a lot of modifications of the Gazelle, and therefore it is quite difficult to talk about dimensions - the data is completely different. Bodies with an extended wheelbase were also produced; since 2010, a series of modified Gazelle-Business cars was launched. And since 2013, the Gorky Automobile Plant began producing a new generation of commercial vehicles - the Gazelle Next.

Cabin
The basic model of the car has a three-seater cabin. Some latest models are available with a cabin that seats six people, including the driver. In this cabin, the seats are arranged in two rows, and the cabin is equipped with a roof with a high ceiling. The basic three-seat cab has two doors with rearview mirrors. The cabin for six passengers also has two doors. Rear row passengers board through the right door, after reclining the passenger seat in the first row.
The one-piece windshield with wiper and large side windows provide a clear view of the area for the driver and passengers. Some models were produced with a sleeping place for the driver.
The cabin is equipped with heating, air conditioning, ventilation and noise protection systems. The windshield is blown from the inside.
The machine is controlled using the steering wheel and gear shift lever. The systems are monitored using the dashboard, which is installed in front of the driver. It contains a speedometer, tachometer, coolant temperature and fuel reserve sensors.
The layout of the cabin and the location of the controls create a pleasant working environment for the driver.
