Brake system

  • A working system that controls the stopping of all wheel sets of a truck, the rear and front axles of which are braked separately. The car brakes are equipped with electro-pneumatic modulators of the anti-lock system (ABS).
  • Components of parking and emergency braking , affecting the process of stopping sections of the middle and rear axle of the car, driven by brake chambers with spring-type energy accumulators.
  • An auxiliary type system that works in conjunction with a truck transmission by creating hydraulic resistance in the gas exhaust system through a throttle valve equipped with a pneumatic drive. Its purpose: braking a car on long descents of roads with poor quality surfaces.

In addition, the model includes:

  • “Speed ​​limiter” system, with a structure consisting of a cylinder and a proportional valve.
  • Anti-slip function, which includes an electro-pneumatic valve and two dual-line valves.

Electronics are used to control the listed functions.

Brake elements

This truck is equipped with drum brakes , which have two internal shoes and an easy-to-remove type brake drum. The pads on the side opposite the tension spring hooks are equipped with outlets designed to make it more convenient to remove the spring when replacing pads or linings.

Engine

The entire MAZ 53366 family is equipped exclusively with Yaroslavl Motor Plant engines of the YaMZ-238M2 model with a turbocharging function. These diesel units have 8 V-shaped cylinders. The power plants comply with Euro-1 environmental standards.

The 4-stroke unit is liquid cooled, direct fuel injection and compression ignition. The motor can be equipped with a power take-off mechanism.

Modifications

The production of MAZ 5336 began in 1988, and during production, which continues to this day, several dozen different modifications have been developed. MAZ 5336 is used as:

  • Covered tent vans;
  • Dump trucks of various carrying capacity;
  • Trucks with an extended wheelbase;
  • Trucks with all-metal and welded vans.

Over the years, different versions of the car were produced, differing from each other in engine power, type of gearbox, cargo platform volume, the presence of additional options and other parameters.

  • MAZ-533603-220 - a two-axle truck with a platform of 10 sq.m., a YaMZ engine with a power of 250 hp (184 kW), permissible gross vehicle weight 18,000 kg, permissible road train weight 36,000 kg;
  • MAZ-533605-220 is a two-axle flatbed truck with a platform of 14.5 sq.m., a YaMZ engine with a power of 330 hp. (243 kW), permissible gross vehicle weight 18,750 kg, permissible total weight of the road train 44,000 kg.

Various modifications of the MAZ 5336 were equipped with both naturally aspirated diesel power plants and turbocharged versions.

Device

The body structure of the MAZ 53366 is a metal welded platform with rear and side folding sides and wooden flooring. The appearance of the truck is typical for the products of the Minsk Automobile Plant. The power plant is hidden under the cabin. The model has a strict rectangular design, which emphasizes the working nature of the equipment.

The large radiator grille is painted light or dark. It is decorated with the classic company logo and contrasts with the main tone chosen for the car. MAZ 53366 is equipped with a metal bumper, which serves as one of the elements of the passive safety system.

Above the windshield there is a visor made of plastic. Similar linings are located on the side ribs in the front of the cabin. The truck's arches are laconic and simple, and the wheels are recessed into the body of the car. There are special steps on the side that allow you to comfortably enter the cabin. The cabin has two sleeping places for a passenger and a driver. The sprung driver's seat is adjustable in length, height and inclination of the cushion and backrest. The interior of the cabin is unobtrusive and simple.

MAZ 53366 has been produced for over 35 years, so on the market you can find both a completely new version and a fairly old car. Experts do not recommend considering models produced over 25 years ago, since these machines have exhausted their service life and are morally obsolete. Usually their body is seriously damaged by corrosion.

Purpose

Initially, the MAZ-5336 was produced as a flatbed truck intended for transporting any cargo along interregional and intercity roads. But as it turned out in practice, the design of the car allows it to cope with other types of work. As a result, the Minsk Automobile Plant presented a version of a universal chassis on which a wide variety of superstructures can be installed.

Thus, modifications appeared equipped with automobile tanks, dump bodies, cranes and many other equipment. In addition, based on the standard MAZ-5336, several types of special equipment were developed, namely passenger buses, fire engines and vehicles intended for work in emergency services. Thanks to this, it was possible to significantly expand the scope of application and make this truck quite versatile.

Story

In 1981, the Minsk Automobile Plant began a global reconstruction, which was completed only 7 years later. During this time, the line of all cars produced at that time was completely revised. Upon completion of the reconstruction, updated MAZ models were launched into mass production, differing from their predecessors in a modernized frame, a modified brake system, an improved front axle, as well as a modified interior and a modified front panel. One of the representatives of the new family was the MAZ-5336 truck.

The MAZ-5336 model was developed as a replacement for the popular MAZ-5335, mass production of which began in 1977. However, by the 1980s, the MAZ-5335 was quite outdated, and it needed global modernization. It is worth noting that the designers took this issue seriously. As a result, the new model was assigned the factory index MAZ-5336. It combines all the positive qualities of the base model and more modern solutions that increase functionality.

Compared to its predecessor, the MAZ-5336 truck is distinguished by a softer suspension, a more powerful power unit, an enlarged cargo platform, and a modern cabin with larger dimensions and a more comfortable interior. The designers also improved noise and vibration insulation, which further increased the level of comfort. Other features of the new truck include high levels of efficiency and productivity. The standard equipment had a rich set of options.

The MAZ-5336 turned out to be a rather successful truck and therefore in a short time it was able to gain great popularity not only in the domestic market, but also abroad. The new product finally supplanted its predecessor in 1990.
