This six-cylinder in-line engine is assembled in the city of Yaroslavl at the Avtodizel OJSC engine plant under license from the French company Renault Trucks. The new truck tractor, MAZ-6430A9, in terms of its environmental parameters, meets the requirements of the international standard Euro-3.
Installed on it, as already mentioned, is the new YaMZ-650.10 engine with a displacement of 11.12 liters, equipped with a “Common Rail” fuel supply system, an EDC-7 electronic unit from Bosch, and a pneumatic brake system compressor with a capacity of 500 liters per minute. The power of the new engine is 412 horsepower with a maximum torque of 1900 Nm. The engine, in turn, is coupled with a manual transmission manufactured by “ZF” -16S221. Diesel YaMZ-650.10 will provide MAZ vehicles with a further reduction in average fuel consumption and, in general, a reduction in cost costs over the full life cycle of the engine. The main engine systems include purchased components: an exhaust system muffler, radiators (air and water) of the cooling system, an electronic fuel control pedal, a steering column switch for the cruise control system. The main goal of modernizing the car cabin was not only to create a more modern appearance, but also, first of all, to solve operational and technological problems, which include improving aerodynamics and organizing air flow in the tail area in order to reduce pollution of the road train. The use of special protection in the form of mud flaps has reduced interference for other vehicles involved in road traffic in rainy weather. The use of injection molding technology for the production of large-sized plastic parts in the future will improve productivity in their production and reduce their cost. MAZ-6430A9 has a mirror system that reflects all potentially dangerous blind spots. Along with the main rear-view mirrors (both electrically adjustable from the driver's seat), the vehicle is equipped with a loading ramp viewing mirror.
A new feature is the new front view mirror. Thanks to this mirror, you can see the areas located directly in front of the car, as well as the danger zone that arises when turning right. With the help of the new MAZ-6430A9 mirror, they are already complying with the future EU regulation, which prohibits having a “dead zone” without fail. The anatomical driver's seat with air suspension has lateral supports not only on the cushion, but also on the backrest, which is adjustable in angle of inclination. To this we must add a large number of adjustments to the chair itself, which is also equipped with a retractable armrest on the right side. Plus, the steering column is tilt adjustable by pressing a special pedal located on the left side of the column above the clutch pedal (like on Volvo trucks). So a driver of any height and build can sit comfortably behind the wheel of the MAZ-6430A9.
In addition to the above, it must be added that being in the cabin of a new MAZ, it is no longer possible to distinguish it from imported analogues. The instrument panel has a modern design and is made of high-quality technological materials. The instrument cluster is easy to read both in daylight and at night. It has a small LCD display built into it, which displays all the information necessary for the driver about the state of the vehicle systems. A folding table is installed on the center console of the instrument panel - very convenient. All levers, toggle switches and switches can be reached by hand without being distracted from the road. MAZ specialists have updated the design and construction of both berths. And the passenger is quite comfortable, since the same seat is installed for him as for the driver. In this case, new design and technological solutions are used (lower solid screens made of polymer material), because of this, the operation of the engine in the cabin is practically inaudible. The front suspension of the car is leaf springs with anti-roll bar. The drive axle suspension is pneumatic, four-cylinder. The electrical equipment and electronic systems on the new tractor have been significantly improved.
The main differences are the use of a new switching equipment block BKA-4 with more reliable “knife” type fuses and “Power Timer” type electrical connectors. This made it possible to ensure ease of maintenance and reliable operation of the vehicle, and sealed bayonet connectors were used to connect the cables of lighting equipment, sensors and electrovalves on the chassis. The headlamp unit is made in a single body and contains elements of high beam, low beam, dimensions, front turn signal, built-in low beam headlight angle corrector.
The electrical connection to the headlight is made through a sealed bayonet connector according to DIN 72580. The headlight unit has an original modern design and an increased degree of protection from external influences. The new instrument panel has a single information zone to display the status of vehicle systems and components. The panel contains a multifunctional monitor that allows, with the appropriate software and the presence of the necessary sensors (master devices), to display information in digital form. The air suspension is equipped with an electronic control system ECAS.
A modern complex of new electronic systems has been used, including an on-board control and diagnostic system (BSKD-“computer”) with functions for monitoring fuel consumption and load on the drive axles, a modern anti-lock and traction control system that meets the requirements of UNECE rules R13-10.
