TEREX TR100 mining dump trucks: technical specifications

TEREX TR100 mining dump truck: technical specifications

Twenty years of successful use in different parts of the world have confirmed the superiority of TEREX model TR100 dump trucks over other mining vehicles. Among the main operational and technical indicators, the following are especially highlighted:

  • durability;
  • reliability;
  • comfort;
  • high productivity;
  • Possibility of use in any climate zones.

Engine

In the basic version, the TEREX TR100 mining dump truck is equipped with a Cummins power unit. The KTA38-C model has 12 cylinders in a V-shaped arrangement. The engine displacement is 37.7 liters. Maximum power is achieved at a crankshaft speed of 2100 rpm and is equal to 783 kW/1050 hp. Net power under the same conditions is 727 kW/975 hp. The power-to-weight ratio is 4.57 kW/t. The maximum torque at 1300 rpm is 4631 Nm.

The power unit from one of the world's best manufacturers provides not only high output and useful power, but also maximum fuel efficiency. The manufacturer promises a long service life without major repairs. One thing is certain: the TR100 engine is the most powerful in its class.

The advantages of the power unit do not end there. Like other leading component manufacturers, Cummins is committed to serviceability. The service interval is set to 250 m/h. Proper operation and timely maintenance should ensure a period of operation without major repairs of up to 18-22 thousand m/h. The engine is maximally adapted for Russia and Russian fuel.

Transmission

The Allison automatic transmission ensures smooth shifting in all six speeds. The car can move backwards at a single speed. For different conditions, two transmission operating modes are provided:

  • power;
  • economical.

The gearbox service interval is 1000 m/h. The design includes a lifetime transmission retarder. The ability to lock the torque converter in any gear has been implemented. The maximum forward speed is 47.6 km/h, reverse - 6 km/h.

The transmission design features dry disc brakes, a hydraulic retarder and a modulated rear brake control system. The brake mechanisms operate independently of each other, which increases the safety of using equipment. The parking system is activated automatically when the engine is turned off.

Body

TEREX TR100 mining dump trucks are equipped with impressively sized bodies. The all-welded structure is made of Hardox 400 steel. The floor is equipped with built-in stiffeners. The mechanism is heated even in the basic configuration. For greater comfort of movement, the body was placed on shock-absorbing supports. The special design of the loading platform allows for independent distribution of cargo in optimal proportions. The hydraulic lift system operates independently of the steering hydraulics.

Dimensions:

  • volume - 57 m3;
  • steel density - 1.59 t/m;
  • bottom thickness - 19 mm;
  • thickness of the side and front walls - 10 mm;
  • length - 6880 mm;
  • width - 4730 mm;
  • duration of the “raise/lower” cycle - 16.3/18 s;
  • elevation angle - 58 degrees.

Terex dump trucks prove resilient in Siberian conditions

The Kuznetsk coal basin, or Kuzbass for short, needs no introduction. Its history dates back to the 19th century, when “coal mining” began in the territory of what is now the Kemerovo region and the first enterprise was founded. Over the next century and a half, the basin occupied an area of 26.7 thousand km2 and became one of the largest coal basins in the world.

Kuzbass is located in the heart of Siberia. The sharply continental climate makes itself felt and creates harsh conditions: a very long spring, a short summer, only a month and a half; alternately thawing and freezing roads, winter ice, summer stuffiness and dust... In a word, ideal conditions for vehicle wear, subsidence and a decrease in operating speed. All of these factors would make even the most reliable machine questionable, but Terex dump trucks have risen to the challenge.

The weather is the first and main thing that puts a spoke in our wheels, and this is where Avtokolonna 2015 LLC operates. The company provides services to a whole group of enterprises whose facilities are located in the Kamyshansky open-pit mine.

The Kamyshansky open-pit mine is located on the territory of the Prokopyevsky district of the Kemerovo region, the Yerunakovsky coal-bearing region and is part of the North-Taldinsky coal deposit. The peculiarity of the structure of the site is “cross-bedding,” when the angles of dip of the coal seams do not coincide with the angles of dip of the rocks. The lithological composition of the host rocks is variable. The overburden strata is represented by sandstone, coarse-grained and fine-grained siltstone. The thickness of loose sediments ranges from two meters on the southern slopes to forty-five meters on the northern ones.

The task of “Motor Convoy 2015” is to remove as much rock mass as possible with the least amount of investment. The quarry is serviced by a staff of 248 people. Since its inception, the company has invested in the acquisition of a fleet of Terex TR100 mining trucks with a lifting capacity of 90 tons. Nine machines are daily involved in stripping operations; they ensure the transportation of rock mass from the face to the dump.

Stripping is the removal of rocks covering minerals during open-pit mining. These include the processes of preparing rock for excavation, excavation and loading operations, transportation and dumping.

Andrey Kuts, Head of Operations Department, Avtokolonna 2015:

To be honest, we did not expect such returns from Terex. Of course, at the beginning, when we were just getting acquainted with the machines, there were some nuances. But we understood that this was a working moment: the technology was new, people needed to master it. Today Terexes operate around the clock: two 11-hour shifts, one day and one night. And so on - until the next maintenance. Now we have reached a maintenance frequency of 500 hours, we are taking readings and analyzing them. But we can already confidently talk about reducing the cost of filters and oils.

What allowed Terex to survive in, to put it mildly, difficult conditions in Siberia?

The main roles were played here by limited slip gearboxes and a self-locking rear differential. The former provide cross-country ability; the second - completely blocks the rear axle, both the right and left wheels, and allows the cars not to lose stability even in the most unfavorable weather.

And the third component of the unbending character of the dump truck is the KTA38 engines, which have a large reserve of power and reliability, equipped with an Allison gearbox. The whole mechanism is very simple. But it is precisely for this that “Avtokolonnaya 2015” appreciates Terex, and does not hesitate to give the car the title of “the ideal combination of technical characteristics and carrying capacity.”

Andrey Kuts, Head of Operations Department, Avtokolonna 2015:

The point is the simplicity of this car - a minimum of electronics. And a simple mechanism is not only easier to work with, it also breaks less.

In fact, resistance to any test is another key characteristic that Terex is given. It is especially significant since the company operates three brands of cars in total. And Terex is the most reliable of them.

Vadim Safronov, General Director of Avtokolonna 2015 LLC:

The Terex vehicle seamlessly combines performance and payload capacity.

During a shift, the Terex fleet transports about 25,000 tons of rock mass. The operating time on these vehicles is 18,000 hours. And at the same time - not a single major repair. Terex TR100 maintains a technical availability factor of 0.91. For the average level on new cars, the planned figure is 0.92. Needless to say, we are very pleased with the cars?

Ease of operation, no need for special training, and convenience are the accompanying qualities that Terex is awarded with. And most importantly, those who know the car best - the drivers - are convinced of this.

Evgeny Bardyukov, Terex TR100 operator:

Before that, I worked at BelAZ 7555V. I have been working for Terex for one year. The car is good both in terms of handling and convenience - the cabin is comfortable and quiet. Hence the result - we consistently export more than the norm. 20, 30 percent above production standards - depends on the shift. So I like Terex. And other colleagues too.

Sergey Shmarov, Terex TR100 operator:

I've been working at Terex for a little less than a year. Everything about it is convenient - from controls to the climate in the cabin. But I’ll especially highlight the braking system - compared to other cars, I like it much more.

There's no denying that it's hard to trust a car without a reliable braking system. But it's on the road. But in big work and business, it is not customary to press the brakes. Therefore, we wish “Motor Column 2015” to step on the gas and move forward. And Terex will not let you down.
