    Interior noise insulation

    At the next stage, the interior is soundproofed, and the instrument panel elements are fastened. Factory rattling and widespread disintegration have become reliable and constant companions of this car. Perhaps many people do not know that the engine in the UAZ is located between the passenger and driver seats and is covered with a large shield in the form of a huge armrest.

    One can only imagine the noise created inside. This shirt is lined with dermantine. When carrying out vibration and noise insulation of this shield and the tunnel, which is located near the gearbox, the following actions should be taken:

    • there is no need to disassemble anything, you just have to remove the dermantine coating (you will have to tinker, since it is attached to the shield with rivets);
    • the rivets will need to be drilled out, the dermantine removed and the engine shield washed, which then need to be degreased with white spirit;
    • the outer surface of the metal should be covered with a sheet of bimast bombs (probably many people have it on hand). On the inside from the bottom you can use vibroplast gold;
    • On top there is 8 mm splen, which needs to be covered with dermantine. It should be seated on new rivets. In the end, everything should fit perfectly;
    • The area in the immediate vicinity of the gearbox should also be treated with gold vibroplast, and a figure eight splen should be placed on top. Don't forget about the dermantine cover for the gearbox.

    All tuning of the UAZ Bukhanka dashboard, most often, consists of finishing it with wooden inserts or in the same way as in the photo. Often, during modifications to the interior, the car is equipped with additional glove compartments, shelves and ashtrays.

    Also, special attention should be paid to the steering wheel.

    You can replace the standard version with an imported analogue, which has soft upholstery made of fabric or leather. It is important that it is sufficiently ergonomic and comfortable for the driver. This new product must be carefully secured to the yardarm. This will prevent the steering wheel from failing at the wrong time.

    Soundproofing and insulation of Bukhanochka

    Sound insulation and insulation of a UAZ intended for travel is a necessary thing, and in the case of Bukhanka, it is absolutely necessary.
    I show you how I did everything. I didn’t give it to any special office. According to tradition, he mutilated himself, with his own hands.

    What needs to be done before applying normal Shumka stickers to cars produced by the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant? The operating experience of two Patriots and one Loaf says that first you need to get rid of the standard materials, which should be noise-vibration and thermal insulation.

    The pieces glued in a checkerboard pattern, it’s unclear what, they behave in an unclear way. Some of the pieces fall off on their own, and some sit dead.

    We pick out everything that we can pick out with a spatula.

    There should be pure, pure metal left. Without the remnants of standard padding sponges and without their favorite glue.

    After preparing the bodywork, the most interesting and favorite part begins - the vibration isolation and Shumka sticker.

    The choice of material was based on the same principles as when renovating the floor. Rationality and reasonableness, but adjusted for insulation. While I saved some money on the field, I didn’t make any savings in the booth. If in some places the ruble was saved by partially replacing the expensive STP-Aero with the cheaper GB-3, then the addition of a third stand made of self-adhesive acoustic felt ate up all the savings.

    In general, for soundproofing and insulating the Bukhanochka, I used the following materials:

    — STP-Aero. Thickness 2 mm. — GB 2. Thickness 2 mm. — Splen 4. Thickness 4 mm. — Acoustic felt. Thickness 10 mm.

    I glued this entire composite cake in the following order.

    The first layer was vibration insulation.

    STP-Aero went to the roof. On the sides and doors - a mixture of Aero and GB 2, glued in a checkerboard pattern based on vibration. Where it rang more, I sculpted Aero, where it rang less, I made do with GB2.

    I glued it without heating, end-to-end, without any cleverness about “it’s enough to cover only 70% of the area.” On a regular machine, 70% is enough, but on a Bukhanka it is better to do it at 146%. It's unlikely to get any worse.

    Next there will be many photos that clearly demonstrate that I am a very good fellow. If you find a square on the vibration that hasn’t been crushed by a roller, be quiet!

    The interior of the UAZ-452 is an example of the spartan furnishings characteristic of military equipment. This is not surprising, given that the Bukhanka was designed to accompany a tank column. Therefore, work in terms of improving ergonomics and comfort in the cabin of this car is no end of work.

    You should start by replacing the standard seats and steering wheel. They were developed taking into account the anthropometric data of tank soldiers, and most tankers of that time were short in stature. Therefore, the standard chair must be dismantled along with the mount, and replaced with a more modern one, characterized by larger dimensions and incredibly better comfort. If you choose a rotating model, you can immediately eliminate another ergonomic problem of the UAZ - the displacement of the driver’s seat to the left relative to the axis of the steering column. This arrangement, chosen to facilitate access to the engine, is very tiring for the driver. Well, changing the steering wheel is all the more necessary, because the thin rim, cold in winter and slippery in summer, absolutely does not meet modern requirements for control ergonomics.

    The design of the standard dashboard of Soviet UAZs is a phenomenon that does not exist as such. The appearance of bare metal dashboard, devoid of even a hint of noise and heat insulation, implies mandatory tuning of this element of the interior. Fortunately, this shouldn't be a problem today.

    Domestic materials and kits

    As mentioned above, the range of Shumka products includes a wide range of different models. The kits, for example, contain all the required shaped elements designed to carry out full-scale coating on the internal parts of the body.

    What can sound insulation provide?

    Below are well-known materials produced in our country.

    We only note that models such as Prolin and Bitoplast-5 are used for processing plastic elements of a car. They ideally eliminate the characteristic creaking of plastic parts.

    EVERYTHING IS DONE

    At the client's request, the interior was completely finished with noise and vibration insulation. The floor is covered with aluminum, and the sides and ceiling are covered with soft synthetic material. In the back there are two sofas that fold out along the entire length and a table. There is a massive air conditioning unit under the ceiling. On the speaker stands of the multimedia system. In the cabin, Honda CR-V seats are heated and electrically adjustable.

    The steering column was replaced with an adjustable one from Sobol. The doors have NIV power windows and central locking. Rear view mirrors from a Hyundai minibus. There is a PAZ hatch welded into the roof right above the engine cover, which is quite convenient for hunting: I saw it, jumped up, and fired. The car is hung on all sides with lighting devices: tank headlights with xenon on the front bumper, a “chandelier” on the roof, and additional light on the sides.

    The main stove was replaced with a NAMI heater, since it makes less noise and, most importantly, effectively removes moisture - the windows do not sweat. The additional stove gave way to the German Eberspächer and moved under the sofa, and in its place a compressor and a large washer reservoir were installed (if you remember, the standard one is ridiculously small).

    Insulation by spraying polyurethane foam

    Modern technologies offer a more modern method of insulation for this case. Thermal insulation of the interior of a UAZ “loaf”, as well as many other types of cars and vans, regardless of body shape and dimensions, can be done by spraying polyurethane foam. Those who are still wondering how to insulate a UAZ “loaf” should pay closer attention to this method, since it sharply reduces vehicle operating costs caused by increased fuel consumption for heating.

    PPU is very durable: the confirmed service life is 50 years!

    The technology of this process is simple and effective. Using special equipment that resembles a spray gun, liquid polyurethane foam is applied to the desired surfaces. Primary hardening occurs within 15-20 seconds, complete hardening takes several hours. The machine will ultimately be ready for use in less than a working day.

    Body tuning

    3. Installation of powerful halogen or LED headlights.
    4. Strengthening the frame by welding steel plates to factory joints.

    A time-consuming but interesting solution is to convert a closed van into a convertible. In this case, it is necessary to install powerful safety bars and sew an awning.

    These are the main areas of body modification. There are still some details that affect the exterior and functionality of the vehicle.

    DIY trunk

    In order not to fill the useful space inside the body with camping items, it is advisable to make a large expeditionary trunk with a ladder on the roof of the car.

    To work you will need:

    • roulette;
    • welding machine;

    • screwdriver;
    • drill;
    • dye;
    • paint brush;
    • profile pipes.

    After drawing up the product drawing, the blanks are cut. Then welding, cleaning, painting, installation of the trunk and its attachment to the frame and roll bars are carried out.

    Bumper

    If you plan to use the car for driving in difficult terrain, then it is necessary to equip reliable protection for the radiator, which can be pierced by a tree trunk or other hard object. The best option is a grid made of profile pipes.

    A drawing of the bumper for the UAZ-452 is first made, indicating the configuration, location and method of attachment to the frame. Painting is done with black paint or to match the body. It is advisable to convert the rear bumper into a step for ease of loading people and luggage.
