A van and a cargo-passenger “Combi” were produced with 4x2 and 4x4 wheel arrangements. What other factors does fuel consumption depend on?

Device Features
The base GA3-2705 is based on a frame chassis (unlike many analogues from other manufacturers, where the body is load-bearing). At the front there is a dependent suspension with telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers and longitudinal semi-elliptic springs. At the rear there is a dependent suspension on 2 semi-elliptic springs. It is additionally reinforced with a spring block and a beam - anti-roll bar. Telescopic type hydraulic shock absorbers are also used here.

All modifications of GA3-2705 use a standard brake system with two independent circuits; with vacuum booster and hydraulic control drive. Ventilated disc brakes are installed on the front wheels, self-adjusting drum brakes are installed on the rear wheels. The braking system itself is of an independent type and diagonal action. The parking brake is a cam cam located on the rear wheels.
The wheel formula of the basic all-metal van GA3-2705 is “4x2”, with rear axle drive, but a number of modifications are equipped with permanent “4x4” all-wheel drive, based on a center differential.
The GA3-2705 steering mechanism operates on the “screw-ball nut” principle and in almost all modifications, with rare exceptions, is supplemented with a hydraulic power steering.

GAZ-2705 cars are equipped with the following basic transmission elements:

Cabin
At the time of its appearance, the GAZ 2705 was ahead of all other Russian trucks in terms of comfort. The interior of modern models of the series contains all the conditions for normal operation. The driver's seat is adjusted according to the degree of distance from the instrument panel and the tilt of the backrest. The dashboard itself is made of especially anti-reflective plastic, which ensures ease of perception. Control devices and indicators are well located and do not interfere with vehicle control.
In the cold season, it is quite comfortable to be in the GAZ 2705 cabin, since the operating efficiency of autonomous heaters is high. For hot periods, ventilation is provided in the form of opening side windows, which is not very convenient. The latest modifications of the series are optionally equipped with a climate control system. The cargo part is separated from the front by a special partition.
The steering is built on the “screw-ball nut” principle. Already in the initial version there is a built-in hydraulic booster. The steering column itself has an adjustment mechanism that allows you to choose the optimal position.
Maintenance and cons
GAZ 2705 is positioned as an affordable and simple car. Maintaining and repairing the machine will not cause any difficulties. The unification of most elements with other models of the Gorky Automobile Plant allows you not to think about finding parts (they are sold in almost any spare parts store). Experienced drivers will be able to carry out even complex repair work on their own.
The main condition for a long service life is compliance with the manufacturer’s recommendations. However, even in this case, problems with the GAZ 2705 can arise quite quickly. Despite the high-quality paintwork and special protection, traces of corrosion quickly appear on the car body. Only a few can withstand the declared period of 10-15 years without rust. Certain problems also arise with the chassis, which lasts for several seasons. The main complaints from consumers are usually related to the assembly, which is not of high quality.
