Varieties and modifications

Today, the Belarusian Automobile Plant produces as many as four modifications of the “quarry” in question . They are all marked as follows:

  • 7555B,
  • 7555D,
  • 7555E,
  • 7555F.

They differ from each other only in the body design and some minor parameters, as well as the installed engines.

Modifications labeled as 7555B and 7555D are equipped with Cummins KTTA 19-C engines. The 7555E and 7555F modifications are equipped with Cummins QCK 19-C engines.

Engine

A Chinese-made diesel engine from Cummins Corporation - with an electronic control system and a central impeller of the cooling system. This ensures optimal specific power, speed of the dump truck on climbs, as well as fuel efficiency.

To facilitate engine starting in conditions of extremely low temperatures, BelAZ-7555V mining dump trucks are equipped with pre-heaters for engine coolant and diesel fuel. This makes it easier to start and guarantees stable operation in the harsh climatic conditions of the Far North, Siberia and the Far East.

The BelAZ-7555V engine brand is Cummins KTTA 19-C. This is a diesel, four-stroke, in-line cylinder engine, with direct fuel injection, gas turbine supercharging and charge air cooling. It has the following technical parameters: total weight – 1,975 kg; maximum power – 522 kW; working volume of the combustion chamber – 19,000 cm3; total number of working cylinders – 6 pcs.; the cylinders are arranged in a row; There is a turbocharger (double).

Air purification for the motor is carried out by a three-stage filter with dry-type active elements. The lubrication system is mixed, based on the “wet sump” principle. The cooling system is liquid, with forced circulation, and is combined with a hydromechanical transmission cooling system. The hydromechanical transmission oil is cooled by a water-oil heat exchanger. The starting system is electric starter. The voltage in the electrical system is 24 Volts.

Purpose

Belaz-7555 is a vehicle used for transporting crushed rock, as well as bulk materials in off-road conditions. Often used in the construction of industrial/hydraulic facilities, road construction, and tasks in the processing industry.

When choosing a quarry vehicle for work, it is necessary to take into account its type, design features and load capacity, on which the possibility of application in solving certain problems depends.

To increase efficiency and productivity, it is recommended to use such trucks in conjunction with excavators/loaders having buckets with a capacity of 8 to 12.5 cubic meters, reducing loading time.

Transmission

BelAZ-7555V is equipped with a hydromechanical transmission with six automatic forward gears and one reverse gear. It allows you to select the most optimal traction and speed mode of the dump truck to facilitate vehicle control and ensure the necessary traffic safety.

The BelAZ-7555V hydromechanical transmission consists of the following main components: torque converter; four-shaft gearbox with friction clutches; microprocessor system (for protection against overloads and control of mechanisms); emergency control system. The gear shift control drive is electrohydraulic. The retarder brake is hydrodynamic, blade type.

An integrated four-wheel torque converter with automatic locking helps reduce dynamic loads in the transmission, ensuring stability and stable engine operation when these loads change.

The GMP automatic control system (GMP ACS) improves the operational characteristics of a mining dump truck, increases service life and reliability by maintaining optimal operating conditions.

Load capacity

Depending on the specific modification, the carrying capacity of BELAZ-7555 is 55 or 60 tons. Brake control

Despite the fact that the transmission is automatic, there are three pedals in the cabin. The third pedal is not a clutch, but an additional brake. Although it can be called the main one. The standard front wheel disc brake system (middle pedal) is used primarily on level surfaces and with an empty body. But when the BelAZ has a load of over 50 tons in the back and it is driving down a slope, conventional brakes will not be enough. Not only will they not completely stop the car going down the mountain, but also the friction of the pads on the discs can lead to a fire.

Therefore, the leftmost pedal regulates the multi-disc oil-cooled brakes of the rear wheels. Since the brake discs are in cooled oil, they do not overheat. Multi-disc brake mechanisms increase the average technical speed by 10...20% when driving on slopes due to the increased efficiency of the MMOT and forced cooling system; increase reliability and traffic safety.

The brake system of the BelAZ-7555V complies with international safety standards “STB ISO 3450”. It is equipped with working, parking, auxiliary and spare brake systems. The working system includes dry single-disc brakes for the front and rear wheels. The drive is hydraulic, separate for the front and rear wheels. Weight and dimensions parameters

Modifications of BelAZ-7555 under the symbol B, E and F have identical overall parameters:

  • length from the front bumper to the rear of the loading platform – 8,890 mm;
  • width from the extreme part of the left wheel tread to the extreme part of the right wheel tread – 4,740 mm;
  • height from the road surface to the top of the cabin – 4,560 mm.

Such impressive dimensions are primarily due to the large load capacity, which is as much as 55 tons for all models, excluding the E modification, since this model can transport 60 tons.

The overall dimensions of modification D are slightly different:

  • length – 8,890 mm;
  • width – 5,080 mm;
  • height 4,630 mm.

Models coded B and F have a dry operating weight without refueling tanks and cargo of 40,500 kg.

Modification D is slightly heavier – 41,500 kg. And the most massive is modification E - 44,100 kg.

Such size and weight parameters do not prevent this mining truck from moving at a relatively high speed - 55 km/h.

Important! The geometric volume of the BelAZ-7555F body is 50 m3, as it differs from its counterparts in its unique design. For other models, this parameter is less outstanding - it is approximately 23 m3. With a cap, the geometric volume increases to 33.3 m3.

Steering

The design of the hydrostatic drive ensures reliable operation of the steering and eliminates mechanical feedback. The steering column is distinguished by the ability to adjust the angle and height, low force on the steering wheel, ergonomic, injury-proof, convenient control, and guarantees the driver a decent level of comfort. Depending on the specific weight of the cargo being transported, the greatest efficiency is achieved when operating with excavators or loaders with buckets of the following capacity: 8 - 12.5 m3.

Suspension and chassis

The BelAZ-7555V dump truck is equipped with a pneumohydraulic type suspension with a built-in hydraulic shock absorber. In combination with the dependent guide vane system, this ensures high smoothness, productivity, technical speed, stability against lateral rolls, durability of the dump truck components and comfortable working conditions for the driver. Independent for the front axle and drive axle, the suspension is equipped with trailing arms, central joints and transverse bars.

Two pneumohydraulic cylinders are provided for each front axle and rear axle (oil and nitrogen). The cylinder piston stroke is – front 300 mm; rear – 270 mm. BelAZ-7555V is equipped with a rear drive axle, which consists of the following main components: single-stage bevel gear; bevel differential with four pinions; wheel-type planetary gears with spur gears; cardan transmission. The cardan transmission consists of cardan shafts (open type); bearings (needle type); protective fence; elastic coupling.

Two open-type cardan shafts with hinges on needle bearings connect the hydromechanical transmission to the engine and drive axle. An elastic coupling is installed between the front driveshaft and the diesel engine. A protective guard is provided for the front propeller shaft. Gear ratios: main gear – 2.73; wheel drive - 7.62; total drive axle – 20.8.

The front axle is not driven, steered, and has a box section. Wheels are discless, with side, lock and seat rings. The tires on the BelAZ-7555V are tubeless, pneumatic, with a special quarry tread pattern. Their size is 24.00R35, designation “24.00-35 HC42/24.00R35”; nominal internal pressure – 0.65 MPa. Frame and body of BelAZ-7555V

The truck frame is welded, made of particularly strong low-alloy steel. The longitudinal spars of box-section and variable height are interconnected by cross members. Cast elements are used in areas of maximum load.

The entire frame structure is not of the one-piece type. By welding or bolting, the remaining special sections are attached to its middle base.

The frame itself provides special fastenings for mounting auxiliary and main equipment. After making detailed calculations of the correct weight distribution of the car, the engine shield was moved 120 cm forward. The driver's cabin of the BelAZ-7555V, together with the engine compartment, is mounted in the front part, and the body occupies 2/3 of the entire area of ​​the vehicle.

The body of this dump truck is a special quarry (bucket) type. It is equipped with a security system according to international FOPS standards. The body is welded from separate components and is equipped with a powerful protective visor. The center of gravity is carefully calibrated and located in such a way that the dump truck overturning is completely excluded. The body is equipped with a heating system from below using exhaust gases, equipped with a mechanical locking system in the raised position and special stone ejectors.

Hydraulic system

The integrated (for the body tipping mechanism, steering and brake drive) hydraulic system of the BelAZ-7555V is built on standardized elements, has structural simplicity and minimal power losses. Provides the necessary oil cooling without using a radiator in the design.

The main working parts of the hydraulic equipment of the dump truck are gear-type oil pumps; as well as hydraulic cylinders that directly lift the body. The loading platform lifting cylinders are telescopic, two-stage, with one double-acting stage. Pump brand: NSh-100A3, or NSh-50M-4.

The hydraulic drive system has the following temporary operating parameters: the platform rises to the top point in 15 seconds; the platform is lowered in 14 seconds; the maximum possible pressure in the system created by the pumps is 17 MPa; and the maximum pump performance at 2100 rpm is 342 dm3/min. The degree of filtration is 10 microns.

Device

The BelAZ 7555 welded frame is made of low-alloy grade. The cross members are connected by longitudinal spars of variable height. At high load points, cast elements are used, but the entire frame is not solid. The special sections are attached to the middle base by bolting and welding. The frame also has additional fastenings for installing equipment. The car body occupies almost 70% of the total area, the cabin and engine compartment are located in the front part. To the right of the platform there are 3 warning lights indicating the loading level. White light indicates reserve capacity, yellow indicates normal loading, red indicates overload.

BelAZ 7555 is equipped with a pneumatic-hydraulic suspension with hydraulic shock absorbers. Together with the dependent guide vane mechanism, it increases the smoothness and stability of the machine. The dependent front suspension is equipped with trailing arms, transverse bars and central joints. The BelAZ 7555 uses a combined hydraulic system with standardized elements and a simple design. Oil cooling is performed without the use of a radiator. The hydraulic system is based on gear pumps NSh-100A3 (NSH-50M-4) and hydraulic cylinders that lift the body. The hydraulic drive system allows the platform to be raised in 15 seconds and lowered in 14 seconds.

The driver's air-sprung seat has a range of adjustments, as does the steering column. The cabin complies with ROPS safety requirements and STB EN 474-6 standard. The main panel has a modern screen with a set of light bulbs that duplicates the readings.

Cabin

The driver's cabin is quite comfortable. It fully complies with current European quality standards applicable to heavy equipment of this kind. The level of vibration present in the cabin does not exceed eighty deciBells. The overall vibration level is up to 115 dB. Being in the cabin allows you not to experience fatigue even during very long periods of work.

The fact that the landing here is high is obvious to those who have never dealt with BelAZ. There is a strict rule: climb the stairs to the cabin only facing the machine to avoid falling. There is a special lamp illuminating the stairs - for those cases when work is completed after sunset. It is turned on/off by a button hidden in the front bumper.

The BelAZ-7555V cabin is double and two-door, with an air-sprung adjustable seat for the driver, with an additional, simple hard seat for the passenger, and a steering column with a set of adjustments. The cabin meets the requirements of the ROPS safety system; requirements of the standards “EN 474-1” and “STB EN 474-6”, which establish permissible levels of internal noise, vibration, concentration of harmful substances and dust levels in the air inside the cabin.

The cabin is equipped with sun blinds and a modern display on the main instrument panel, which is a modern display next to a set of light bulbs that duplicate the readings. Here you can see scales of operating pressure in the gearbox, temperature in the cooling system, speed, engine oil pressure, engine heating, and rpm. In the corner there is a special odometer: it shows how many engine hours the car will need scheduled diagnostics.

The handle that is connected to the gas pedal can be called “cruise control”. It also performs the functions of acceleration, stabilization of lifting and lowering of the platform. By the way, the platform itself also has several sensors. One does not allow you to develop high speed when the body is not completely closed. The other makes the “lid” lower automatically if the driver has already started moving and has forgotten about it. There is also a lock button.

Drivers of the BelAZ-7555V in the first years of production complained of a strong impact when lowering the loading platform. The factory listened to this, and now the mechanism operates much smoother and softer - like a door closer, without disturbing the comfort in the cabin.

Refill tanks

The mining truck in question is equipped with a fairly powerful engine with excellent technical characteristics, which is visible not only when disassembling it. As a result, the number of its filling containers is very large:

Features and scope of application of BelAZ-7555V

A prototype of a dump truck with a lifting capacity of 55 tons BelAZ-7555V was manufactured in 1994. A few years later, it became the lead model of a new family of dump trucks from Zhodino, equipped with a hydromechanical transmission. This car differs from the BelAZ-7555A in its engine. The BelAZ-7555V is equipped with a Cummins brand power unit, and not a YaMZ one, like the BelAZ-7555A.

Over the past quarter century, this family has been repeatedly modernized and improved. Other new products of similar carrying capacity have appeared from the Belarusian Automobile Plant. But BelAZ-7555V, as one of the most successful models, still firmly occupies its place in the production program of the enterprise and in the range of products.

With the help of this heavy-duty dump truck, extracted ore and soil materials are transported to places of their subsequent final processing. For mining dump trucks of this class, special technological roads with a width of six meters or more are equipped in quarries. Due to the fact that the body volume of the BelAZ-7555 series trucks reaches up to 50 cubic meters, the vehicle is quite productive, capable of working effectively with several small or one large industrial excavator.

With a standard load capacity of 55 tons, in fact, in industrial quarrying these vehicles are regularly loaded with 60 tons or more. In addition to quarries, the BelAZ-7555V is also applicable at any other production facilities where transportation of large volumes of cargo is required. Repair

BelAZ repair manual:

  1. If there is no oil pressure in the hydraulic line in the system, then it is necessary to conduct an external inspection of the sensor for damage and defects, add oil to the system to the required level, inspect and, if necessary, replace the pump element.
  2. A low pressure level may be due to a malfunction of the pressure gauge, clogging of the filter parts of the oil intake mechanism, or jamming of the pusher. In this case, it is recommended to inspect all these mechanisms for wear, and if faults are found, replace them with new ones.
  3. If the oil pressure level increases sharply, the gearbox should be disassembled and the failed elements and sealing rings should be replaced.
  4. If the gearbox stage does not engage, you need to replace the insert, eliminate the open circuit, and replace the control panel.
  5. If the vehicle continues to move even when the lever is in the neutral position, you need to make sure that the electric magnet is working properly, disassemble the unit and wash all parts, replace the clutch and check the oil pressure level in the system.
