Engineering support for the Russian ArmyReview of construction equipment presented at the Army-2016 forum

From September 6 to 11, the second International Military-Technical Forum Army 2016 was held in Patriot Park. In terms of organization, entertainment, exhibition design, cleanliness, order and living conditions, no commercial exhibition can compare with “Army”. But let's move on to the topic that interests us most - engineering support, which is largely represented by construction equipment that is well known to us.

Universal technology

The scope of application of truck-mounted cranes and excavators in the army is so wide that they can be classified into a kind of universal group. Crane equipment was presented by the products of the Klintsovsky Truck Crane Plant. First of all, this is a new model KS-65719-3K with a lifting capacity (g/p) of 40 tons with a 4-section ovoid boom 34 m long on a KamAZ-63501 8x8 chassis. The crane is equipped with a removable counterweight and a hydraulic table for its installation and dismantling. Additional equipment is a 9-meter jib.

Next to the 40-ton truck were models with a lower lifting capacity: KS-45719-7M with a lifting capacity of 16 tons with a 3-section ovoid boom 23 m long on a KamAZ-53501 6x6 chassis and a crane KS-55729-7M with a lifting capacity of 32 tons with a 4-section ovoid boom 30 m long on the KamAZ-53501 8x8 chassis.

Excavator equipment is represented by two models. This is the EOV-3523 model, produced for several years, with a 0.8 m3 bucket and a digging depth of up to 5 m on the KamAZ-53501 6x6 chassis and the new EOV-3521M-1 model with a 0.65 m3 bucket and a digging depth of up to 4 m on the Ural chassis -4320. The new model is distinguished by the design of the handle, improved kinematics of the boom-handle articulation, providing greater strength to this unit, although it uses the same materials. Plus, the chassis is more passable.

at the Uralvagonzavod . The bulldozer is equipped with a Cummins engine with a power of 140 kW; it is possible to install a YaMZ-236. The armor protects the operator, cabin interior equipment, fuel tank and engine compartment from 7.62mm bullets. Bulldozer weight – 21,800 kg. It is possible to install other levels of protection, including with anti-cumulative grilles.

New product of the year at the plant - Universal excavator-leveler UDS-214 based on the KAMAZ-65111 chassis

We are expanding the boundaries of our product range. Today we are ready to offer for delivery a universal multi-purpose telescopic excavator UDS 214 KAMAZ-65111 chassis . This superstructure, produced by the Slovak machine-building enterprise Tisovec, is intended primarily for excavation work. In combination with additional equipment and tools, it is used in the development of foundation trenches, canals, on construction sites, during maintenance work on utility networks, and also in the repair of gas and oil pipelines.

UDS-214 is also used in road construction when laying road surfaces. Using this special equipment, the soil is leveled before pouring crushed stone. It is used to improve the terrain before building bridges. The advantage of the UDS-214 is the accuracy in performing the work, for example, where it is necessary to deeply open the soil with already laid communications, this technique is used. This special vehicle is capable of digging deep pits and trenches at an angle of 90 degrees.

The great advantage of such equipment is the possibility of its independent movement on roads, thanks to the presence of a chassis. These machines belong to the class of pneumatic wheeled excavators and, if necessary, are capable of covering hundreds of kilometers, moving around the country's facilities.

The excavator-leveler performs the main complex of earthworks by changing the position of the telescopic boom and bucket. Continuous lowering and retracting movements of the boom and periodic changes in the position of the bucket make it possible to clear and develop the earthen layer at or below the level of the equipment parking. Rotation of the bucket, accompanied by retraction of the boom, makes it possible to clear and construct slopes in a limited space, for example, in a trench. The thickness of the cut layer can be adjusted by a rotating bucket, which, when the boom is retracted, is used for cleaning and leveling surfaces located below the machine’s parking area.

— a rotating platform with an operator’s cabin, a power unit and hydraulic drive units. The excavator is equipped with a comfortable cabin with modern equipment.

— telescopic equipment, consisting of a boom, mechanisms that drive both the boom and the bucket, and a replaceable working element. The boom head of this model is equipped with a full rotation mechanism and a quick change mechanism, which allows an experienced operator to change the attachment in a few minutes without leaving the cab.

Means of education

The army keeps up with the times. “Group Kronstadt” represented a unified virtual battlefield (UEFS), designed for planning and practicing combat operations in a virtual environment. Various simulators are connected to the ESPB: infantry, ground equipment, aviation, naval, and trainees can practice not only their own actions, but also interact with colleagues from other branches of the military. Plus, trainees operate under a single command.

The number of serial simulators includes the KamAZ-5320 driving complex. The simulator simulates working conditions in various road and weather conditions, reproduces the visual and sound environment, as well as dynamic loads on the student, corresponding to the current position of the vehicle controls. Kronstadt Group can also develop simulators for training in operating any machine, be it an excavator, loader, bulldozer, motor grader, tower or jib crane.

Bridges and crossings

I would like to start the story about the equipment for building bridges and crossings with the universal pile-driving unit USA-2 of the Galich Truck Crane Plant, presented at STT-2015. USA-2 is built on the basis of a 32-ton truck crane KS-55729-5V on a KamAZ-6560 8x8 chassis and is capable of performing pile-driving, drilling and crane operations, screwing screw piles and lifting the working platform (cradle) to a height of 12 m. Special equipment is transported as standard trailer, the unit unfolds into its working position independently, without the help of other lifting equipment. While standing in place, the installation drives piles around itself at 240° in a 7 m strip.

The bridge-building installation USM-3, developed and manufactured by JSC Krangormash from Novomoskovsk, Tula region, is capable of driving 4 piles simultaneously during the construction of low-water bridges (overpasses) with a lifting capacity of up to 60 tons through water, swampy and dry land obstacles. The installation, adopted for service in 2007, is mounted on a Ural-53236 8x8 chassis. It turns into working position in 5 minutes - the pile driver block is lifted by two hydraulic cylinders, the pile drivers and piles are lifted using a crane installation.

A road train was presented at the forum, which includes a special single-axle semi-trailer Hartung-9995-0000010 for transporting pontoons of the MLZh-VF-VT floating unified railway bridge-ribbon, as well as sections of pontoons of the NZhM-56 floating railway bridge. The semi-trailer is light: the weight of the transported cargo is up to 17 tons, it is designed for the high control system of the KamAZ or Ural all-terrain tractor.

from Moscow presented the VMLK-1 military sawmill complex, developed in 2016 to replace the LRV-1M sawmill frame. The complex allows you to harvest timber using chain saws, deliver it using a log truck based on KamAZ-63501 with a Velmash-S hydraulic manipulator KMU V-10-2 to a sawmill where sawing is carried out, and also make wooden structures using power tools. Unlike LRV-1M, the new disc sawmill has an electromechanical drive. The sawmill is assembled in a container, which is transported by a log truck. For this purpose, the bunks are made folding.

UDS 114 – the story of one of the best excavators in the USSR

In the USSR, excavators on a car chassis were only used by the armed forces. The supplier of such equipment was the only automobile plant in the city of Kremenchug. The Soviet Union's Ministry of Defense had a monopoly on articulated excavators. Initially, it was a rope-block system, and then hydraulics and outriggers appeared.

Now I can’t even remember who initiated the supply of Czechoslovakian TATRA ZTS UDS-114 excavators, which are unlike other special equipment. The telescopic boom and the rotator on it made it possible to perform operations with the so-called “reverse” and “direct” shovel. This car could not go unnoticed. At that time, this was an unprecedented achievement and provided new opportunities for planning and digging in the construction of objects.

Plus, on the bottom of the bucket there was a hook that was made by an automobile excavator - a crane. Stability of the device was provided by remote telescopic supports, which the operator could set without leaving the cab. Actually, all control of the work process also came from his cabin.

High-quality maneuvering of the chassis, high maneuverability and speed of up to 90 km per hour, all these qualities made TATRA a universal and irreplaceable special equipment. It was not special equipment, but the dream of any builder.

In the 2000s, the production of automobile excavators almost disappeared, and for some reason interest in them suddenly disappeared. They tried to make autoexcavators at the Motovilikha factories, in Kokhanovo, and in Tver. But low liquidity at the beginning of the 2000s became a sign of crisis for the production of special construction equipment.

The most successful model on the post-crisis market was the 6634C4 excavator, developed by the Eureka Scientific and Technical Center. The UDS-114 R10 model 6634C4 excavator mounted on the KAMAZ-43118-46 chassis has a 6 by 6 wheel arrangement. Thanks to the hydraulic-based design of the working device, this special equipment has an expanded range of movement capabilities:

  • Circular rotation;
  • Telescopic extension of the excavator boom;
  • Limit of boom lifting and lowering stroke: from +30 to – 60 degrees, from 0 to 90 degrees of the horizontal plane;
  • The angle of extension and tuck of the gun can be 145 degrees;
  • Continuity of rotation of the telescopic boom around the longitudinal axis of the gun by 360 degrees.

The manufacturer has increased the configuration of the quick-release tool to the maximum:

  • dump;
  • wide three-meter scraper;
  • a ladle with the properties of an explosive knife;
  • profile bucket 0.6 cubic meters;
  • drainage buckets of various sizes;
  • loading tongs for large half-meter stones;
  • rolling roller;
  • set of buckets 0.4 - 0.75 cubic meters.

Quick change of working tools is possible thanks to the original clamp. The maximum time for changing equipment for work is no more than 8 minutes. With experience, the operator's operating time is reduced to 6 minutes. The entire change of equipment takes place from the machine’s cabin; the operator controls the work using a joystick.

KAMAZ-43118-46 is an all-wheel drive truck with an optimal set of qualities: all-terrain capability, maneuverability and high cross-country ability. Therefore, it was no coincidence that KAMAZ became the chassis base for the UDS-114 autoexcavator. In addition to this, the car does not pretend to be premium and the price is competitive. The reliable design of the truck allows the owner to avoid unpleasant unexpected moments.

The excavator superstructure is improved by a John Deere diesel engine. All conditions for camera work have been created in the cabin. The excavator-planner, thanks to the KAMAZ chassis, develops high speed, which allows you to quickly change its location in accordance with the requirements of the task. Such properties of special equipment are valued in the mining and oil and gas industries, as well as in the construction business associated with a small volume of work.

The UDS-114 autoexcavator has a lower cost compared to similar equipment, such as the Svyatovit EW-25-M1. The lack of an auxiliary mobility system had an impact. Analyzing the consumer market, experts came to the conclusion that this function is almost not in demand: the impact on the speed of operation is insignificant, the weight of the structure increases, and the cost increases significantly. Therefore, we decided that this system would be installed to order, individually for each client.

Water supply

The mobile drilling rig PBU-100, developed and manufactured by Geomash OJSC from the city of Shchigry, Kursk region, replaced the morally and physically outdated PBU-50M. The drilling rig is designed for the construction of permanent water intake wells up to 100 m deep using pneumatic percussion drilling with removal of destroyed rock using compressed air. This method allows you to drill through rocks up to category XII of drillability without the use of drilling fluid, while PBU-50M can construct wells up to category IV inclusive. Due to the mechanization of labor-intensive processes, the deployment and collapse time has been halved. The drilling rig is mounted on a KamAZ-53501 chassis. The compressor is transported by a separate vehicle with a KMV-10V crane, the rest of the technological equipment is transported on two trailers.

Evacuation and repair

The Velmash-S crane-manipulator installation KMU V-10-2 was used as part of the PIRC mobile engineering repair complex based on KamAZ-63501 developed by NPP Proekt-Tekhnika JSC from Moscow. The complex is designed for technical diagnostics, evacuation and restoration of engineering equipment. The workshop is a container that is transported on a car platform. The container is equipped with hydraulic supports for self-loading and unloading. A vehicle with a CMU is used to transport components and assemblies. The CMU is equipped with a winch, which expands the capabilities of the crane.

In the near future, the PIRK complex will include a pneumatic frame hangar, developed in 2015 by TRIUMPH LLC from St. Petersburg. The hangar unfolds within 25 minutes and is operated at temperatures from –40 to +50 °C and winds of up to 20 m/s. Pneumatic frame hangars are a new, promising direction in military support.

KMV-10V - KamAZ-53501 on-board vehicle with V-10-2 "Velmash-S" is a universal means for mechanizing loading and unloading operations in any branch of the military, including as part of mobile workshops for the repair of engineering, armored vehicles, and automobiles. and other equipment. The standard winch provides low speeds for lowering and lifting the load, which is especially important when working with dangerous goods, such as ammunition and explosives.

Velikiye Luki products – KMU and hook loaders – are also used on other special equipment. Thus, the KamAZ-63501 vehicle with a hook loader is used to transport the IRK amphibious reconnaissance hovercraft.

KMU (Ishimbay, Republic of Bashkortostan) is used as part of repair shops for armored vehicles on KamAZ and Ural chassis. This is a maintenance workshop for MTO-UB1 based on the Ural-4320 and MTO-UB2 based on the KamAZ-5350. In terms of its capabilities, lifting capacity and deployment speed, the crane installation cannot be compared with outdated booms, which were manually installed on the bumper, and a standard car winch was used to lift the load.

The INMAN KMU is also used as part of the light wheeled repair and recovery vehicle REM-KL based on Ural-532362 and the technical assistance vehicle MTP-A2 based on KamAZ-43101, intended for evacuation, providing technical assistance to drivers, repair and maintenance in the field. automotive technology.

Semi-trailers for transporting armored vehicles

presented three new developments for transporting armored vehicles on and off-road. The three-axle semi-trailer ChMZAP-9990-0000073-03 with a single tire tire is designed for transporting cargo and armored vehicles weighing up to 40 tons. The semi-trailer is fixed, the length of the loading area is 10,000 mm, the loading height is 1225 mm. Single tire tires with a diameter of 22.5 inches allow the semi-trailer to follow the tractor, and in our case it is Ural-63704, along the same track.

The three-axle semi-trailer ChMZAP-9990-0000073-02 with a gable tire will be used for transporting cargo and armored vehicles weighing up to 55 tons. The length of the loading area is 9260 mm, the loading height is 1225 mm. The suspension is dependent, spring-balanced. The semi-trailer is presented in conjunction with a KamAZ-65225 tractor.

The three-axle semi-trailer ChMZAP 99901-0000020 with a gable tire is designed for transporting cargo and armored vehicles weighing up to 63 tons. The semi-trailer is presented in conjunction with a BAZ-6403 tractor. The length of the loading area is 9860 mm, loading height is 1100 mm. The semi-trailer's suspension is dependent, spring-balanced, hydromechanical support devices. The semi-trailer is equipped with additional equipment: two fuel tanks with a volume of 500 liters each and a hanging mechanism that ensures lifting of the rear part of the frame when servicing the suspension, a tire pressure monitoring system, and an autonomous small-sized hydraulic station.

A sample of its products - a high-frame semi-trailer model 994283 (H3) - was presented at the exhibition. A three-axle semi-trailer with a capacity of 55 tons with a reinforced frame, single-pitch tires with large diameter wheels and reinforced air suspension is designed for transporting heavy oversized cargo in off-road conditions. The semi-trailer is equipped with mechanical sliding ramps, extensions, removable sides, awning, bunks, 1000 liter fuel tanks, water tank, and hydraulic winch. But the most interesting feature is the drive axle with two 45 kW hydraulic motors, which will help you overcome particularly difficult terrain. The semi-trailer is designed to perform transport tasks in the most difficult conditions and may be of interest for logistics support in Siberia and the Far North.

Unfortunately, we did not touch on many aspects of engineering, but the topic is truly extensive, and more than one article is required to cover it. Next year we will visit the Army forum again and see what has changed over the year. Today the pace of updating engineering support is very high.
