How to adjust - step-by-step algorithm

5. Adjust screw H to operate the engine at maximum speed according to the principle described above.
6. Next, on screw T, the idle speed is adjusted (counterclockwise). It must be set so that the engine runs steadily, without extraneous noise, and until the saw chain completely stops moving at idle (if it is rotating).

2. ANTI-KICKOIL MEASURES

In some cases, contact of the top of the bar with an object can cause a lightning-quick kickback that throws the bar sharply backwards and upwards towards the operator (This kickback is called a rotational kickback). Carburetor adjustment

There are 3 adjustment screws on the carburetor:

First, when the chain is idling, you need to smoothly turn the T-screw (counterclockwise only), and do this until the chain moves no more.

These adjustment manipulations should be carried out exclusively in the idle state, after preheating the system. The order of adjusting the screws is the same: first adjust the L screw, then H and T.

The adjustment of the H-screw will affect the frequency and power of the revolutions produced.

After the system engine has warmed up, you will need to turn the H-screw a quarter turn in a counterclockwise direction for 10 seconds.

As a result, the engine must operate as a four-stroke engine.

To prepare the fuel mixture, we used domestic AI92 gasoline and 2 tons of Husqvarna HP oil in the previously specified proportion.

Eight clicks on the primer and with the second pull of the starter handle the chainsaw started. Our test samples are unchanged: freshly cut pine and dry oak trunks with a diameter of 24-25 cm. Pine could be completely cut in an average of 8 seconds, oak in 15. These figures are quite comparable with similar indicators for professional chainsaws. Vibrations were not felt either during operation or at idle – the anti-vibration system does an excellent job. Despite the fact that the declared noise level is above average for chainsaws, we did not feel it. Apparently, when taking measurements, the manufacturers chose the most strict measurement method. The chain brake worked instantly. And most importantly, the Echo 353 chainsaw coped well with its tasks at speeds far from the maximum. Here is the solution to using a “cold” candle!

Disadvantages and malfunctions

According to the general opinion of the owners, serious structural or operational defects are not typical for saws of this brand. In most cases, failures and malfunctions are the result of poor maintenance, skimping on the quality of fuel and oils, and the use of household-grade tools in professional-grade work.

• There is no thread on the oil pump shaft; replacing it will help.
• A defective thread on the pump drive gear can be similarly solved by installing a new part.
• Lack of main shaft corkscrew (relevant for some instrument models, for example, Homelite). You can fix it by installing a nail of a suitable diameter instead of the original corkscrew, cutting it to the required length.
• Blockage in the line. Can be removed by blowing with compressed air or mechanically, using a wire of a suitable diameter.
• Filter element clogged.
• In the STIHL MS 180 tool, the pump of which is not dismountable, it often becomes clogged. You can try to wash it in clean gasoline, if that doesn’t help, replace it.
• In Chinese chainsaws (Gypsy), very often it cuts off the grooves on the main gear, through which the force from the sprocket is transmitted to it.
