The power of the model is only 1.6 kW, but it is quite enough. The saw confidently picks up speed; when working along the entire length of the bar, no power drop is observed. When compared with household-class chainsaws, the competitors in terms of power are Shtil 180 and Husqvarna 236/240. Shtil has a power of 0.1 kW less, but its productivity is higher, because it has a high maximum rpm. But as practice and user reviews show, BS-40 is reliable. Of course, it is not as reliable as Shtil 180, but in comparison with Electrolux chainsaws, its quality can be considered high, because it breaks less often.

Saw mechanism lubrication and cooling system

Standard chains for Hooter chainsaws are standard, 3/8 inch pitch. The bar and chain of the headset are lubricated and cooled with oil, which, under low pressure, enters the cutting area from the built-in reservoir.

Carburetor adjustment

The Huter BS 45 and Huter BS 52 chainsaws are equipped with a membrane carburetor with the ability to adjust the quality and quantity of the mixture. After purchasing a tool, it is recommended to slightly enrich the fuel mixture in order to compensate for the loads that arise during the piston grinding process.

Important! After the saw has worked on the enriched mixture and the parts of the piston group have rubbed against each other, the quality of the mixture should be brought back to normal.

The quality of the fuel mixture is controlled by screw (L). To enrich the fuel mixture (increase the fuel supply to the cylinder), the screw must be turned a quarter turn counterclockwise. After running in, return to original position.

If the saw carburetor is completely out of adjustment, its adjustment is carried out according to the following algorithm:

• on a muffled saw, screws L and H are installed 2.5 turns from the fully tightened state;
• the saw starts and warms up for 5-10 minutes;
• after warming up, slowly tightening screw L, you need to find the maximum idle speed, then loosen the screw one quarter;
• screw H regulates engine operation at maximum speed;
• After adjusting screws L and H, use screw T to adjust the idle speed. It must be set so that the engine runs stably and the saw chain does not rotate.

Important! Adjustment of maximum speed should be carried out using a tachometer. If there is no such device, then the screw is tightened until the moment when the engine begins to work smoothly and monotonously, easily picking up speed.

It is worth remembering that carburetor adjustment should be carried out only after a complete diagnosis of the saw has been carried out and faults such as crankcase depressurization, air leaks under the spark plug, and carburetor gasket have been eliminated.
