Bulldozers from ChTZ ( Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant ) are produced in the medium and heavy classes, which are most in demand in the conditions of the manufacturing country and the CIS countries. A long history of producing crawler tractors has allowed bulldozers to be developed and tuned to suit local conditions. Some bulldozers have been discontinued but are still used on construction sites and agricultural fields.
These bulldozers include the T 100, a bulldozer that was discontinued in the early 1980s. Bulldozer T 100, technical characteristics

Bulldozer T 150, technical characteristics
For some reason, it is mistakenly believed that the model of the same manufacturer is the T 150, a wheeled or tracked bulldozer with a diesel engine. In fact, the T150 has been produced by the Kharkov Tractor Plant since 1974. The bulldozers of these two manufacturers differ even in appearance.

The T-170 is a heavy tracked tractor of the 10th traction class with a wide range of applications.

Engine
The bulldozer is equipped with the D-160.11 engine and its modification D-180.111-1Yu, which have a service life of 8,000 hours before overhaul. With the update, the engine became more powerful, reaching 180 hp, and the torque also increased. A turbocharged engine is able to “digest” different types of fuel: diesel fuel, kerosene, gas condensate. Starting is carried out from a P-23U carburetor starting engine or an electric starter. The installed optional pre-heater PZD-30 allows the bulldozer to be used in arctic conditions with temperatures down to -50?C.
Transmission
The transmission uses a four-shaft constant mesh gearbox. As standard, it is equipped with 8 forward and 4 reverse gears. For installation on some modifications of the bulldozer, the first two gears of the normal and accelerated ranges can be blocked, which turns the box into a 6-speed one.
As an alternative, a hydromechanical transmission can be installed that automatically adjusts the speed regardless of changes in traction force.
A single-stage three-wheel torque converter is coupled to a planetary gearbox. This type of transmission has higher efficiency and traction characteristics of the machine as a whole.
There are modifications with and without the possibility of installing a power take-off shaft.
Hydraulic system
The hydraulic system uses a gear hydraulic pump NSh-100, mounted on the engine. Purification of the working fluid is ensured by Regotmas filter elements. Degree of purification - particles up to 25 microns in size. The configuration of the entire hydraulic system depends on the attachment used and may vary.
Electrical equipment
The on-board voltage of the bulldozer is 24 V. Depending on the modification of the bulldozer, 2 batteries are installed: 6ST-182EMS in the case of using an electric starter engine starting system or 6ST-75TM if a starting motor is used.
The 1 kW generator is equipped with an electronic voltage regulation system.

Cabin
The T-170 bulldozer tractor is equipped with a cabin with a large glass area. The vibration-isolating platform effectively dampens mechanical impacts from the engine and transmission, providing comfortable working conditions. Safety when objects tip over or fall onto the cabin is ensured by a special rigid frame.
The production seat has adjustments taking into account the operator’s individual data, such as his weight, you can set the required distance to the controls, and also set a comfortable backrest tilt.
A cabin heater is included as standard. Optionally, you can install a heater-fan “XEROS-4000” and an additional oil heater if you have to work at particularly low temperatures.
Carrying and running systems
The bulldozer is built on a spatial supporting frame. Crawler bogies have a semi-rigid attachment to it at three points. The installed rigid balance beam, as well as the micro-suspension system, perform well on dense soils, proving to be a more effective suspension compared to a conventional spring one.
The chassis uses 5 rollers as standard. Some modifications, for example, swamp, pipe-laying, etc., are equipped with a seven-roller bogie, as well as an increased track width to reduce the load on the ground.
Bulldozer t 180, technical characteristics
Another equally successful legacy was the T 180 tractor, a bulldozer, the production of which was started by the Bryansk Automobile Plant in 1965.
This is the same model that is installed as a monument at the entrance of this plant. The tractor was equipped with a six-cylinder diesel engine producing 175 hp. and a dry clutch. The T 180 is characterized by the presence of a five-speed four-way manual transmission.
The T-180G modification is distinguished by a hydraulic control system for attachments and aggregated mechanisms.
The T-180KS modification was intended for operation in extremely cold geographical areas. Such modifications were equipped with a pre-heating system. Bulldozer T 800 is a powerful bulldozer-loosening unit with a net weight of 76.5 tons. Produced by the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant . The operating weight is 106 tons, since the attachment weighs 29.5 tons. Designed for processing particularly frozen and rocky soils. Equipped with a 6-cylinder diesel engine producing 820 hp. Capable of being an alternative to drilling and blasting operations when carrying out stripping operations. In 1990 it was the largest bulldozer in the world.
Bulldozer B10M improved transmission with planetary gearbox
The B10M bulldozer is a representative of the most popular standard size of class 10 tractors, in the production of which the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant is a traditional leader. Bulldozers of this class are designed for developing soils of categories I - III without preliminary loosening. They are used in temperate and cold climates at ambient temperatures from + 45°C to - 40°C, at an altitude of up to 3000 meters above sea level.

The main difference of the new tractor model is the combination of the advantages of a mechanical transmission (high efficiency) with the advantages of a hydromechanical transmission (easy control).
A component such as a torque converter is excluded.
The function of the clutch is performed by two gearbox reverse clutches (I and II planetary gears), which are activated through a throttle in the hydraulic control system, which ensures a smooth increase in pressure in the gearbox and smooth engagement of the clutches.
The tractor is equipped with a serial planetary gearbox, used on a tractor with a hydromechanical transmission.
A torsion bar and driveshaft are installed between the engine and gearbox.
The torsion shaft is connected to the engine flywheel through a splined flange, and on the other side to the propeller shaft through a coupling half. The torsion shaft serves to reduce dynamic loads during variable loads and gear changes. Inside the torsion clutch housing there is a gearbox that drives the transmission control and lubrication system pump. The gearbox has a filling capacity independent of the transmission control and lubrication system.

To the right of the operator are the control levers for the bulldozer equipment. Thus, the operator’s right hand, unlike a tractor with a mechanical transmission, is occupied with controlling only the working equipment.
To the left of the operator are located: the gear shift lever and the direction of movement of the tractor; and two steering control levers (friction clutches). The brakes are controlled by pedals.
Hydraulic control of the gearbox allows for quick and easy, unlike a manual gearbox, gear shifting and reversing of the unit while the tractor is moving.
The forces on the gear shift levers and steering control levers are reduced to a minimum.
