Motoblock "AGROMASH M-20": reviews, characteristics and features

Among domestic agricultural workers, the domestic AGROMASH M-20 walk-behind tractor received positive reviews. The first models of this equipment appeared on the market in 2010 and in a short period of time managed to establish themselves as high-quality and reliable equipment. The units are distinguished by high power and productivity, suitable for processing various types of soil, even virgin soil.

Short description

The equipment in question is completed in Russia (Cheboksary). When developing the machine, the nuances of operating analogues from other manufacturers were taken into account. This allows us to safely say that the AGROMASH M-20 walk-behind tractor (reviews confirm this) was assembled taking into account the characteristics of operation in different regions of Russia. This equipment is unpretentious in maintenance, reliable in operation, has high productivity and a long service life.

The agricultural unit is available in four variations:

  • Gasoline models S-20, S-20T, M-20.
  • Diesel version of the M-30.

In the proposed line, the M-20 model, which was modernized in 2022, stands out. Next, we will review this agricultural equipment and also find out the opinions of the owners.

Who is the manufacturer, what reviews do you receive about its products?

Sellers of compact equipment especially note that Agromash walk-behind tractors are our domestic product. There are two manufacturers. The first is Cheboksary Machine Technologies Plant LLC in the city of Cheboksary, Chuvashia. The second is PJSC Kaluga Engine.

But “produced in Russia” is, of course, a strong word. It is not produced, but assembled there, from Chinese components.

In addition, the Cheboksary LLC is a typical one, registered in 2015 with a minimum authorized capital of 10 thousand rubles.

And on the official website of Kaluga Engine PJSC there are no Agromash walk-behind tractors. Only walk-behind tractors of the Ugra, Oka and Avangard brands are presented there. Perhaps Kaluga walk-behind tractors "Agromash" are some kind of semi-official products under the auspices or simply under the guise of PJSC "KaDvi".

And by the way, Agromash is actually a brand of a large machine-building company (albeit already bankrupt) for agricultural purposes, which does not produce any walk-behind tractors.

However, despite all these obvious inconsistencies, the acceptable quality and reliability of this product, ease of use, high productivity and successful “hit” in the notorious “price-quality” combination are confirmed by a considerable number of positive reviews about Agromash M-20 on various agricultural markets. forums, portals and blogs. Most owners report that they are satisfied with the performance of the walk-behind tractor, and were not mistaken in their choice.

Breakdowns and repairs

The Agro unit differs from other heavy-duty models in its long service life and reliable operation.

The operation of the walk-behind tractor is influenced by operating conditions, proper running-in after purchasing the factory unit, and timely maintenance and care.

If the unit is under warranty, then all repair work must be carried out by the module manufacturer. The owner has no right to open the seals and repair it. If the malfunctions of the walk-behind tractor are minor, then you can adjust its operation yourself.

Possible breakdowns and damage are presented in the repair instructions for the Agros walk-behind tractor and have a general appearance. Among them are the following:

  • problems with starting and engine malfunctions;
  • The chassis does not work;
  • malfunctions in the gearbox (gearbox);
  • clutch failures;
  • the lubrication and cooling system is broken.

If the engine does not start, the reasons and solutions are as follows:

  1. There is no fuel in the fuel tank. Fill the tank with fuel.
  2. The hole in the gas tank cap is clogged. Open the tank cap, clean the hole and reinstall.
  3. Fuel is leaking from the carburetor. It is necessary to adjust the carburetor of the walk-behind tractor.
  4. Fuel system clogged. Drain the fuel from the fuel tank, rinse with gasoline and blow out the carburetor jets, inspect the spark plug.
  5. Filter clogged. Replace or clean the filter.

If the engine operates with noise, knocking or jerking, it is necessary to adjust the valves on the Agro walk-behind tractor using special probes.

If the idle speed is unstable, the gap in the gearbox cover may be too large, so it is necessary to adjust the gap to 0.2-0.5 mm.

A decrease in the power of the walk-behind tractor is possible in the following cases:

  • clogging of the carburetor, gas hose, air filter;
  • crankcase cuff failure;
  • carbon deposits in the combustion chamber.

Elimination methods include inspection, cleaning all parts, and blowing off the hose.

If the starter of the Agro walk-behind tractor fails or the fuse blows, the best solution is to replace unsuitable parts.

Malfunctions of the gearbox chain appear as a result of its jamming. The clutch can be damaged if the chain breaks, so it needs to be replaced.

The following failures and breakdowns are possible in the gearbox:

  • the kinematics inside the gearbox are disrupted;
  • spontaneous gear changes or their complete absence;
  • oil leak on the shift shaft.

It is better to repair the box in special workshops. A gearbox is a complex unit, and you can’t do it without knowledge of mechanics.

Ignition system

In the “why there is no spark” problem, the reasons for the breakdown lie in the details, such as:

If there is no spark or sparks weakly, it is necessary to adjust the intermediate gap and check the condition of the electrodes. The gap norm is 0.8 mm.

When there are changes in the gap between the intake and exhaust valves on the engine, they are tightened or relaxed to the permissible value.

A low compression ratio has been detected in the cylinder. All worn parts are removed and replaced.

Cleaning the muffler will also help get rid of the spark problem.

Engine replacement

If the engine for an Agro walk-behind tractor breaks down and needs to be replaced, use an adapter kit. Instead of a native motor, imported ones with a cylindrical shaft with a diameter of 25 mm are suitable:

  • Weima - with a power of 13 hp. With.;
  • Subaru EX 27 - 9 l. With.;
  • Honda 9 - 13 l. With.;
  • Lifan 9 - 13 l. With.

Replacing the engine is as follows:

  • remove the motor from the cultivator and dismantle the clutch mechanism;
  • remove the drive cup under the conical shaft and replace it with one machined under the cylindrical one;
  • A walk-behind tractor clutch is installed on the imported engine and connected to the transmission.

With constant use of the machine, spare parts may wear out. Most often, parts of the clutch mechanism and bearings need to be replaced. There are no problems with choosing parts for Agro. They can be purchased both from official dealers of the company and in the open market.

Motor and gearbox

Reviews about the AGROMASH M-20 walk-behind tractor indicate that the AGROMASH W170F engine is a particularly important and reliable element in the design. It was developed in Japan (similar to Honda), equipped with atmospheric cooling and electronic ignition. The big advantage is low fuel consumption and reduced noise level. Transmission and control

The domestic walk-behind tractor AGROMASH M-20, reviews of which are given below, is equipped with a transmission unit with a reinforced V-belt drive. It transmits torque from the power unit to the gearbox. Despite the simplicity of the design, the design is very reliable and effective, which has been repeatedly tested by time.

As for control, there is a comfortable steering column, adjustable in four directions. This feature makes control as convenient and efficient as possible. The improved gear shift fork greatly simplifies the procedure for selecting and activating speeds.

Device

In addition to the motor, which is mentioned above as the main device, the walk-behind tractor also has:

  • transmission;
  • chassis;
  • controls.

The classic internal combustion engine is characterized by standard systems. Such gasoline-powered devices are used in ordinary passenger cars. Heavy walk-behind tractors are often equipped with diesel power units. All modern equipment is equipped with four-stroke engines.

Engine operation systems include certain elements.

  • Fuel supply. This is where the fuel mixture is heated. The elements combined by the system are a fuel tank, a hose, a carburetor, and filters. The lubrication system provides lubrication to the moving parts.
  • The engine starting mechanism is called a starter. It spins the crankshaft due to the distribution elements. Combined elements: cylinders and valves. If the walk-behind tractor is equipped with a battery, it will also belong to the starting system.

The clutch is also part of the transmission. Its functionality is related to ensuring smooth movement of the unit from a standstill. The chassis is represented by a conventional metal frame with the main components and wheels attached to it. The stroke of the device is changed using the steering wheel. The controls include various levers and rods. The main components in this system will be levers:

Many of these devices can be made independently or purchased in specialized stores. Only cutters are included with the walk-behind tractor. They are designed to loosen the soil and remove weeds by wrapping them directly around themselves. When purchasing additional equipment, pay attention to the size of the landing shaft. For proper connection to the unit, its diameter must be 24 mm (type 900).

What is a walk-behind tractor

There is no clear division between walk-behind tractors and walk-behind cultivators; their origin history is identical.

A Swiss citizen, Dr. von Maenburg, patented the first electric motor cultivator in 1911 and sold it to a German company. The unit was equipped with an electric internal combustion engine and had a long electrical cable. In the 1920s and 30s, similar devices appeared in other countries - SIMAR in Switzerland, British Anzani Iron Horse in the UK and Beeman Tractor in the States.

In the post-war period, agriculture needed both powerful and small equipment with a large number of replaceable mounted and trailed implements. Therefore, in the 1946-47s in Meckmühl (Germany), despite difficult conditions, engineers Mechtel and Gehler designed a prototype of the vehicle without a drive wheel, and then with a drive wheel. In 1958, the 100,000th model under the Agria brand was presented at the exhibition of German agricultural societies.

In the Soviet Union in 1948, the Perm Machine-Building Plant named after. Dzerzhinsky was released with a gasoline engine and with 1 axle, the first garden unit, but it did not find wide distribution among users.

A walk-behind tractor is a type of compact-sized tractor based on a 1-axle chassis. When operating the device, the operator holds it by the handle and follows him along the area being processed, which is why it is often called a pedestrian mini-tractor.

Motor vehicles are divided into 2 types:

  • wheeled walk-behind tractors;
  • motor cultivators.

In wheeled vehicles, the running pair forms traction that is transmitted to the working implement. The main tools of the cultivators are cutters, which are included in the basic package and are mounted on the drive axle. They perform only one operation - soil cultivation. The purpose of walk-behind tractors is much broader.

The following types of technology are distinguished:

  • ultra-light (1-3 hp, weight - up to 20 kg);
  • light (2.5-4.5 hp, up to 40 kg);
  • medium (up to 7 hp, 60-100 kg);
  • heavy (up to 16 hp, 100 kg or more).

The choice of mechanism directly depends on the area being processed and the width of the land. When cultivating an area of up to 15 acres, select a walk-behind tractor designed for 3.5-4 hp. with a width of 60 cm, areas up to 5 hectares are perfectly cultivated with equipment with a power of 9-12 liters. With. and grip 1 m.

The structure of the walk-behind tractor does not depend on the make or model of the machine and includes 5 main parts:

  1. Engine. 2- or 4-stroke gasoline and diesel power plants are used.
  2. Transmission. Happens:
      toothed;
  3. gear-worm;
  4. belt-gear-chain;
  5. hydrovolumetric.
  6. Chassis.
  7. Aggregation mechanism. Serves for connecting auxiliary equipment.
  8. Controls. Includes tie rods for ease of operation.

Application of walk-behind tractors

The main use of the walk-behind tractor is plowing, hilling the land, mixing the top layer of soil with mineral and organic fertilizers previously scattered on the ground. Therefore, light motor cultivators are suitable for operation, the standard kit of which includes cutters and sometimes hillers.

When combining medium walk-behind tractors with a removable wheel pair with a plow, lawn mower, harrow, hiller and semi-trailer, their capabilities are greatly expanded.

Heavy equipment with permanent wheels can be equipped with a soil tillage cutter or plow, as well as an excavator blade, a rake, a snow blower and a trailer for transporting loads of up to 500 kg.

Benefits and price

  • Reliability and ease of operation.
  • Availability of electronic ignition.
  • High-quality power unit.
  • Well-thought-out transmission.
  • Possibility of using various attachments.

The cost of the unit depends on the condition and region where it is used. The average price is about 25 thousand rubles.

Engine of the Agros walk-behind tractor

The Agros walk-behind tractor is equipped with a 4-stroke single-cylinder carburetor gasoline unit of the UMZ-341 model with a power of 5.9 kW (8 hp) at 3600 rpm, with a forced air cooling system. In its design, this engine, developed in Ufa, is close to the Japanese Honda GX240 engine. The reduced compression ratio allows it to operate on gasoline of various classes (from low octane to high octane).

The location of the cylinder in the engine is inclined, at an angle of 25 degrees to the horizontal. The direction of rotation of the output shaft is left (counterclockwise), according to GOST-22836. A special feature of the UMZ-341 engine is its modernized lubrication system. The oil does not splash, and after filtering in a replaceable automotive-type filter, it is supplied under pressure to the rubbing elements through an oil pump.

Other characteristics of the UMZ-341 engine:

  • Overall dimensions – 490 x 440 x 375 mm;
  • Working volume – 333 cm3 (0.333 l);
  • Maximum torque – 17.2 Nm;
  • Compression ratio – 7.4;
  • Cylinder diameter – 79 mm; piston stroke – 68 mm.

The K-45R carburetor is a float-type carburetor with a horizontal diffuser. Ignition system - “MB-23U”, contactless magneto. The engine is started by a manual starter with a self-retracting cord. The power of the built-in electric generator for UMZ-341, at a rotation speed of 3600 rpm, is at least 25 watts. The engine weight is 35 kilograms.

The fuel tank capacity of the Agros walk-behind tractor is 6 liters per hour. In this case, the nominal fuel consumption is 390 g/kW per hour (287 g/hp per hour). On average, this equipment consumes about 2 liters of fuel per hour of operation. Two types of oil are required - motor (1.2 liters in the engine crankcase) and transmission (2.5 liters).

Initially, the engine of the Agros walk-behind tractor was intended to work with low-octane gasoline - A-76 and A-80. But to convert the engine to AI-92 gasoline, the manufacturer recommends replacing the A11-3 spark plug with an A17B spark plug, and adjusting the ignition timing, shifting it by two degrees, counterclockwise.

Transmission

The Agros walk-behind tractor has a strong and reliable transmission, which includes a gear reducer, a dry cone clutch and, as already noted, a differential with forced locking, which provides improved maneuverability. The walk-behind tractor is equipped with four gears with reverse. (Total – four forward and two back). When reverse gear is engaged, only second and fourth gears are available, operating in a “lower” version - when their rotation speed is approximately halved.

The gearbox, final drive and differential are housed within one housing. In addition to these elements, it also houses the power take-off shaft and the entire gear shift mechanism. The use of the differential ensures rotation of the drive wheels at various angular speeds, and this plays a beneficial role when turning the walk-behind tractor, or while moving the Agros on uneven surfaces.

Technical features of transmission components:

  • Clutch – friction, conical “dry” type, permanently closed, with manual control;
  • The main gear is a pair of bevel gears with circular teeth;
  • Differential - gear, bevel, with two satellites with forced locking;
  • The final drives are single-stage, with spur gears.
