Almost every owner of a walk-behind tractor knows that AI-80 gasoline, or AI-76 as it is also called, has ceased to be produced in the post-Soviet countries. Finding it now is not an easy task, so many farmers are forced to look for a solution to the problem by switching from this fuel to higher quality AI-92 fuel. Is it possible to do this yourself, and what is required for this? Let’s look at it in more detail.
Gearbox and signs of damage
Most often, gearbox-related breakdowns occur due to overloading of the device. Such malfunctions are characterized by bursting of bushings and breakage of the star. You should know that if a star is torn off, welding will be required to put it back in place. A typical scheme for checking the gearbox when repairing a Cascade walk-behind tractor with your own hands (or from any other company) can be found in the same manual, which describes the procedure for setting up the carburetor. The main breakdowns and ways to eliminate them are:
- Clutch slip failure. This mainly occurs due to severe wear of the discs and weakening of the compression spring, as well as when the distance between the bearing elements decreases. To eliminate damage, all worn parts are replaced.
- The clutch does not disengage completely. This problem is associated with deformation of the friction disc or incorrectly selected oil. Performance is restored by replacing the disk or changing the oil.
- Extraneous noise is heard from the gearbox. The cause of the noise is a lack of oil in the gearbox or severe deformation of the gears. The source of the sound can also be a loose bearing. Repair occurs by replacing elements with new ones.
- The speed does not change or switching occurs with great effort. The solution to the problem is to disassemble the gearbox and, if its mechanism is slightly worn, lubricate and grind the gears.
- Oil leak. First of all, the seals are checked for correct installation and general condition. They change if necessary. A leak can also form due to a blockage in the area of the oil fill hole.
- During operation, strong vibration occurs. The engine fastenings are checked and, if necessary, tightened. Vibration also occurs when additional accessories are installed incorrectly. If the walk-behind tractor uses tires, it is also worth checking the pressure level in them.
It is important to note that if, during the repair of a cultivator with a worm gear, a problem is discovered in it, and this is typical for the Texas LH model, then you will not be able to replace worn or crumbled gears yourself. Since the device does not allow changing the load force, the connection between the worm and the gear wears out significantly
Such parts are not sold separately, so the entire assembly has to be replaced
Since the device does not allow changing the load force, the junction of the worm and gear wears out significantly. Such parts are not sold separately, so the entire assembly has to be replaced.
In order to ensure that breakdowns occur as rarely as possible due to the gearbox, you should not only not overload the device, but also add oil on time. It is best to wash the gearbox elements in diesel fuel or gasoline. When assembling the gearbox, it is recommended to additionally lubricate its gasket with silicone.
How to convert a walk-behind tractor engine from 80 to 92 gasoline?
There are 2 proven ways to complete this procedure. You can convert a walk-behind tractor not only from 80 gasoline, but also from AI-76 to AI-92. We will describe each method in detail below.
Method 1: Adjusting the ignition timing
This conversion method is easiest to demonstrate using the UMZ 341 motor as an example, since it is the most universal and is equipped with the same spare parts as most motors for walk-behind tractors.
Before starting the alteration, you should replace the A11-3 spark plug with an A17B one. After this, adjust the lead angle in the following sequence:
- Completely drain the old fuel from the gas tank.
- Start the engine (so that the remaining gasoline in the fuel system is completely used up).
- Remove the candle tip.
- Unscrew the bolts that secure the fan casing and remove it.
- Unscrew the flywheel fixing locknut and remove the ratchet.
- Install the flywheel puller. To do this, tighten the central bolt of the puller and, after hitting it lightly with a hammer, remove the flywheel. When removing the flywheel, do not hit it.
- Find the factory ignition installation mark.
- Use a screwdriver to loosen the magneto mount and turn its base counterclockwise by 2 mm.
Once all steps are complete, assemble the motor. Make sure all parts are present and in the correct position, and tighten all bolts and nuts. Now you can safely refuel your walk-behind tractor with 92 gasoline, enjoy its work and evaluate the results after the modification.
Method 2: Increasing the engine compression ratio
The method is a little more complicated than the previous one, it requires increased concentration and high precision of execution so as not to damage the equipment.
This method involves grinding the cylinder head, as a result of which it is necessary to remove a layer of metal no more than 2.5 mm thick. After this, engine compression will be increased to 7.8 atmospheres. You should also replace the spark plugs with new ones with a heat rating of at least 17 units.
There is a safer and more accurate way to carry out this modification. Purchase a ready-made set of a new cylinder head, valve rods and pushrods and install them. But such a replacement will cost money.
The methods described above for converting walk-behind tractors are suitable for many models of walk-behind tractors, including models such as Neva MB1 and MB2, MTZ-05 and MTZ-12, modifications of walk-behind tractors of the Agro and Cascade brands.
Characteristics of Lifan engines
“Lifanovsky” engines for a walk-behind tractor have different technical characteristics, according to which it is worth choosing a specific engine model for a specific model of walk-behind tractor. The first and main feature is the compliance of installation dimensions. It will be very good if you can find a motor that fits perfectly with the current mounts. You can select the model yourself. It is also possible to contact the nearest engine store for professional help.
It is important to remember that if the fasteners do not match, you will have to redo them yourself
The next important characteristic is engine power, which is usually measured in horsepower. The most common universal engines for walk-behind tractors have a power of 6.5 horsepower
This power is usually quite enough for most walk-behind tractors. The engine models are very similar both in installation and maintenance, as well as in operation.
Lifan engines for a walk-behind tractor should be selected in accordance with the expected tasks that will be assigned to it. If you only need to dig up a small area once a year, then it’s not worth spending money. It will be enough to purchase a simple model from the cheapest price segment, although generally the cost of such engines starts from 9 thousand and all engines from this company are considered very cheap compared to other brands.
Mini tractor made from a Cascade walk-behind tractor
Many owners convert their walk-behind tractor into a mini tractor because constantly walking behind the equipment is hard on the legs and fatigue sets in quickly. It is much easier to operate it while sitting.
The easiest way to do this is to buy an adapter. There are many options for such products online from different manufacturers.
If this is too simple for you or you don’t want to do it for some reason, then the Cascade walk-behind tractor can be converted and you can assemble the tractor yourself. However, you should begin such a modification only if you are confident that you can complete what you started.
The best models for assembly are Cascade MB 61-21, MB61-22 or with a Lifan engine. For these purposes, more engine power will be needed, and on old Soviet models it may not be enough.
For remodeling you will additionally need:
- Channel 80 size to create a frame;
- Gearbox and engine (keep from walk-behind tractor)
- Bridge (coming from the Soviet Moskvich);
- Steering gear (suitable from VAZ);
- Front beam “pendulum” on the groove crosspiece;
- Hubs (can be supplied from VAZ).
Before starting assembly, you must study photos, diagrams and assembly drawings. There are a large number of them on the forums.
Instead of an adapter or conversion into a mini tractor, you can use a regular trailer for transportation:
If you want to modernize them for yourself, then you should first describe in detail the kinematic connection diagram and the arrangement of parts, and only then proceed with assembly.
Engine oil
When you have a walk-behind tractor as your assistant, you need to constantly monitor the technical condition. Oil is a very important component that needs to be changed on time. It is responsible in the unit for lubrication, sealing, cooling and cleaning of the motor components.
When the device operates in constant mode, the oil remaining in the cylinder may burn out and oxidize, as a result of which the walk-behind tractor begins to smoke. Also, substances with resins are deposited in the parts, which leads to contamination. Therefore, it is recommended to use good foreign lubricants that already contain the necessary additives.
Converting an engine to run on a different fuel - what are the advantages?
Even novice gardeners and gardeners know that grade 92 gasoline is much higher quality than cheaper fuel analogues. However, is it possible to pour 92 gasoline instead of 80 into a walk-behind tractor? Every expert will confidently answer “no.” Even if your walk-behind tractor has a reliable design and high quality parts, it still will not work for a long time on fuel that is not standard for it. Cheaper walk-behind tractors do not start at all after changing the brand of gasoline. Because of this, in order to refuel your equipment with good fuel, you have to slightly alter its design. As a result of the changes, the owner of the walk-behind tractor receives the following benefits:
- Extending the life of important parts and components of the unit;
- No need to change seals and filters every few months;
- Increasing the service life of the motor and gearbox;
- Less fuel consumption.
All these advantages encourage equipment owners to start working without hesitation. There are two ways to convert a walk-behind tractor to use 92 gasoline instead of 80. Below we will consider each of them separately.
Adjusting the fuel system of a walk-behind tractor
If fuel is not supplied to the cylinder, then the first thing you need to check is whether there is enough fuel in the tank. You also need to check whether it is supplied to the carburetor. To do this, remove the hose from the inlet fitting of the device. If we are talking about a K45 type carburetor, you should press on its quencher so that fuel begins to pour out through the drainage hole.
If fuel does not enter the carburetor, then you need to turn off the fuel supply valve, completely disassemble it and remove accumulations of dirt from the mechanical cleaning filter. To achieve maximum purity, all components must be treated with gasoline. The fuel valve is reassembled and returned to its original location.
If fuel enters the carburetor, but is not supplied to the cylinders, it is necessary to check the correct operation of the fuel valve, as well as the presence of dirt on the jets.
To deal with the carburetor of a gasoline walk-behind tractor of the KMB-5 type, you need to remove it from the engine and empty the fuel from the float chamber. Through the fitting (see figure), through which gasoline is supplied, it is necessary to supply the air mixture, having previously installed the carburetor in the working position. The passage of air should proceed unhindered, and when the carburetor is turned over, it should stop completely. These features indicate the full functionality of the part.
Details in the figure: 1 – fuel supply fitting; 2 – upper body; 3 – throttle valve; 4 – idle needle; 5 – jet; 6 – lower body; 7 – air damper; 8 – screw fixing the tie; 9 – maximum throttle needle; 10 – spray element; 11 – float; 12 – fuel supply valve.
The fuel level inside the float chamber can be adjusted using the float tongue. Ideally, it should vary from 3 to 3.5 centimeters.
To purge the jets, you need to unscrew the screws responsible for full and low throttle. Cleaning the carburetor parts begins by unscrewing the screws holding the upper housing. The lower housing is removed, the fuel supply valve is washed with gasoline, and dirt is blown out of the nozzles with a pump. It is necessary to check whether the float is intact. It is strictly forbidden to use rags during the cleaning process.
After cleaning is completed, the housings are connected. It is necessary to ensure that the spray tube fits clearly into the hole located on the upper body. Open the throttle valve and check how well the assembly is done. The screws securing the upper housing are tightened tightly. After the assembly process is completely completed, the carburetor should be adjusted. This will significantly improve the performance of a heavy walk-behind tractor with attachments, since correct operation requires the perfect adjustment of all its parts.
If a DM 1.08.100 carburetor is installed on the cultivator engine, then the method for adjusting it will be as follows:
- You should tighten the idle screw 10 all the way and turn it away from you half a turn.
- Then you need to tighten the full throttle screw 9 and completely unscrew it 2 turns.
- Unscrew the 4 minimum engine speed screw right up to the lever stop in the boss of the carburetor body and tighten it 2 turns.
- Start the walk-behind tractor engine, and then adjust stable operation at maximum speed after warming up with screw 9.
Do not allow the engine control lever to disengage. Move it to the minimum throttle (speed) position and, by unscrewing screw 10, set a stable idle speed. This completes the setup.
That's basically the whole renovation. The main points of adjusting the main parts of the walk-behind tractor are considered. Use our manual (instructions) and prevent malfunctions. Adjust your walk-behind tractor or cultivator with pleasure!
Replacement and adjustment
Quite often, unfortunately, there is a need to completely change the motor on a walk-behind tractor. When choosing a replacement device, it is recommended to give preference to products from well-known companies. Traditional prejudices about products from Chinese factories have long become irrelevant. To avoid overpaying, you need to carefully analyze how productive the power plant should be. Buying a unit that is too powerful is simply irrational.
Even if there is no talk of a complete replacement, it is important to know how to adjust the engine of agricultural machinery. It is advisable to begin disassembly only after flushing the engine and removing oil from it.
Lubricant is poured only when the engine is warmed up after a short run. Next it's time to remove the fuel tank. Sequentially remove:
- fuel supply hose;
- air filter;
- screen covering the cylinder.
Then remove the crankshaft pulley. Following the pulley, it is necessary to remove the fan, reflectors, and insulating flywheel casings. Unscrew the cover, removing the rings and coupling bodies. When the washer is removed, you can press out the flywheel using a wooden block.
Now, having dealt with the flywheel, remove the cylinder cover, camshaft and pusher. Once access to the connecting rod is gained, remove the oil sprayer and locknut. After repairing and replacing damaged parts, reassemble the engine in the reverse order. You should familiarize yourself with the diagram in advance, then there will be no errors.
Replacing damaged valves for a gasoline walk-behind tractor occurs after removing:
- gasoline tank;
- the head of the cylinder block;
- carburetor;
- muffler;
- boxes.
Often there is a need to replace rings. But this should only be done in the process of more serious repairs. An isolated change of rings in itself is irrational both economically and technically. Additionally, a high quality ring group will usually have the same lifespan as a cylinder. They are changed at the same time.
Installation with an elastic band is advisable if a Chinese motor is installed on domestic walk-behind tractors. Rubber cushions are often used as a platform. They can be used as parts of the front shock absorber from a classic car. Along with the need to rearrange individual parts of the walk-behind tractor engine, many people have a need to install an electric starter themselves. This starter will have to be properly connected to the battery.
The crown is attached only to the removed flywheels. First remove all interfering parts of the motor. To remove the flywheel, in many cases you cannot do without a special key. A generator and its magnets are installed in the flywheel assembly. When the terminals and contacts of the battery are aligned, you should conduct a test run of the walk-behind tractor.
Terms of use
The basis is to buy the right engine and see how it is installed on the walk-behind tractor. And also follow the instructions correctly and take care of the engine while it is running. The first thing you need to do before purchasing the product is to get advice from a specialist about the features of using the unit. It is important to carefully read the installation and operating instructions so as not to make mistakes during operation. It is necessary to systematically carry out preventive maintenance - change the oil, clean components.
When it is clear that the engine is not functioning stably, contact a service center for help. The guarantee document will be useful. There are many reasons for breakdowns, so if you don’t have repair skills, it’s best not to fix it yourself, so as not to worsen the situation. A professional will definitely find the reason, determine whether the oil seal on the crankshaft needs to be replaced, whether to use a different fuel, or whether the internal wire needs to be replaced.
Engine for walk-behind tractor Agro (Agros)
Another once popular walk-behind tractor with a Russian engine, which has been discontinued. But this is a solvable problem.
In order to select a new Agro walk-behind tractor engine you need:
- Buy a special adapter for the Agro walk-behind tractor (Agros) for installing a modern engine
- Select one of the suitable (with adapter) motors in this group
And that’s it, you can bet. Installation instructions will come with the engine, nothing complicated there.
Answers to common questions:
- Will it work with a 9 hp engine (Lifan 177F)? Very often on the Russian market, 9 hp engines come with a non-standard bolt pattern on the cover for the Ugra walk-behind tractor. Such an engine will not simply fit onto the adapter. But if you have an engine version with a standard bolt pattern, then it will do. How to understand which flange? It’s easier to buy a 13-15 hp engine, they are a little more expensive than 9 horsepower.
- Why is it so expensive? Adapters for Agro are produced to order by literally one small enterprise throughout Russia (the same as at MTZ).
Method for increasing engine compression ratio
This method is a little more complicated than the previous one.
All work must be done as accurately as possible so as not to damage the motor of the walk-behind tractor. The essence of the method is based on removing a layer of metal no more than 2.5 mm thick from the plane of the cylinder head. Thanks to this kind of grinding, the engine compression rate increases to 7.8 atm. In addition, you will also have to replace the spark plugs - new datleys must have a heat number of at least 16 units. As an alternative to this method, you can replace the cylinder heads with elements of grade 421. 1003010. However, in addition to replacing the head, you will need to replace the valve rods of the pushers. For this purpose, you can buy a special set of push rods and adjusting screws. It is important to remember that the kit, like a new cylinder head, will not be cheap. Therefore, it is best to spend a little of your time and adjust the ignition timing.

The power system consists of a fuel tank, carburetor, and fuel supply pipes. The main part is the carburetor. It does the function of a mixer. This popular rumor mixer mixes gasoline with air and delivers this mixture to the engine cylinders. Typically, a carburetor consists of smaller parts:
- float chamber;
- diffuser;
- dampers;
- spray;
- mixing chamber;
- other details.
Different models of walk-behind tractors have their own carburetors, which are regulated by different methods.
Motoblock Neva instructions
You can download or view operating instructions for Neva walk-behind tractors of various years of manufacture on this page of the website. The user manual for repairing MB walk-behind tractors will tell you how to independently fix many of the malfunctions of your Neva equipment.
There is no doubt that walk-behind tractors are of great help when cultivating your plot or garden. They can work 10-20 hours a year and remain operational for many years, freeing you from hard, painstaking manual work.
The big problem is that instructions and manuals for our iron assistants tend to get lost over time. So we've tried to build a library of them in an accessible form in PDF format, which is ideal for printing. In fact, you will be more comfortable using printed instructions rather than simply viewing them online.
About the design of walk-behind tractors and valves
Motoblocks Cayman, Patriot, Texas, Foreman, Crosser, Viking, Forza, Sadko, Don are a rather complex technical device, consisting of several main working units: engine, transmission, chassis and controls.
Understanding the design of a walk-behind tractor is very important, because the correctness of repair and adjustment work depends on it. Let's look at each node in more detail:
Let's look at each node in more detail:
- Engine. Depending on the configuration, 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines can be used. At the moment, 4-stroke engines are most widespread because they have higher performance indicators.
- In addition, engines are divided into diesel and gasoline. The former are most suitable for large-sized units, and the latter – for small and medium-sized walk-behind tractors.
For more information about the operation of the walk-behind tractor engine, see the video below:
- Transmission. The torque that is transmitted from the engine to the wheels is carried out through the transmission. It includes a gearbox, gearbox, clutch system and differential (for some models).
- Depending on the type of gearbox and clutch, not only the cost of the walk-behind tractor is determined, but also the operating principle of these components.
- Chassis. Most walk-behind tractors have a pair of wheels of various types - pneumatic or metal, equipped with lugs. In addition, the chassis includes the frame itself, on which all other elements of the walk-behind tractor are located - engine, gearbox, etc.
- Control system. All control of the walk-behind tractor is located at arm's length from the operator, i.e. on the handle and in its immediate vicinity. This includes the clutch lever, buttons for shifting speeds and changing movement, emergency engine stop, etc.
Carburetor walk-behind tractor
As for the carburetor, it is part of the engine power system. Acts as a kind of mixer that mixes liquid fuel with air to obtain a fuel mixture, which then enters the engine cylinders. Structurally, it looks like this:
- float chamber;
- diffuser;
- spray;
- throttle and air dampers;
- mixing chamber;
- jet, etc.
This is a description of a standard carburetor, but different models of walk-behind tractor, such as Huter, Profi, Plowman, Champion, Carver, Husqvarna, may use different carburetors, respectively, and the adjustment will be different.
Walk-behind tractor Cascade: attachments
Like most walk-behind tractors, Cascade brand units are not without the ability to use additional attachments.
Among the most common types of additional weapons you can find:
- blade shovel;
- cutters of different types;
- trailer for transporting goods;
- potato digger;
- hiller;
- grass mower;
- water pumping equipment;
- rotary snow blower.
Attaching attachments to the Cascade walk-behind tractor occurs in different ways. For example, modules such as a hiller, potato digger or trailer are attached to the walk-behind tractor using special steel pins. Equipment such as a potato planter, snow blower and water pump are attached to the front of the unit, and power is transmitted using a belt.
We also invite you to watch the video, which demonstrates the operation of the Cascade walk-behind tractor with attachments:
Walk-behind tractor ignition system
Ignition adjustment
The ignition coil for the Neva walk-behind tractor is adjusted as follows:
- Take a sheet of paper and fold it 4 times;
- Unscrew the bolts that hold the module;
- Place a piece of paper under them and screw the bolts into place;
- In manual mode, turn the flywheel;
- Check for spark.
Video review of adjusting the ignition of a walk-behind tractor engine
One of the main factors for the correct operation of the ignition system is the gap between the starter and the flywheel. It should be in the range from 0.1 to 0.15 mm.
To adjust it on the Neva walk-behind tractor, you need to remove the housing and unscrew the stator bolts. Then place the feeler gauge and set the required gap, tighten the bolts back and check the gap over the entire surface of the flywheel.
Generator, faults, elimination
The generator is an important component of the entire mechanism. It is designed to charge the battery and operate the headlights.
When choosing a generator, you need to pay attention to its power. It must exceed the power of all connected devices to ensure uninterrupted operation
For the Neva walk-behind tractor, it is possible to use an old car generator.
Important! During its installation, you must follow the diagram presented below. Otherwise, the generator may catch fire
There are 4 wires in total in the generator. Two of which are blue. It is thanks to them that the converter is connected. Red, connects to the headlights and supplies voltage to them.
Electric starter
Many people strive to improve the performance of their walk-behind tractor. During the winter seasons, it has difficulty starting due to the fact that the manual starter does not turn over. To solve this problem, a special electric starter was invented for the Neva walk-behind tractor. This is an autonomous device that, when the ignition is turned on, begins to rotate and gives a spark.
An electric starter is a complex design, and it is not possible to make it at home. You can use any other car electric starter that could be left over from an old car.
Candles
We have already figured out what spark plugs are for and how to change them. Let's look at the brands that are needed for each specific type of Neva engine:
Engine model | Engine spark plug | Possible spark plug replacement |

As standard, Neva walk-behind tractors are not equipped with a headlight. However, this option is presented as an additional option. Since carrying out work in the evening without a headlight is almost impossible.
If desired, you can install the headlights yourself from a car, scooter, tractor, etc. To do this, use welding to make a special box for the headlight and place it there. And connect the wires from it to the generator. But not directly, but through a switch, which should be located in the middle and be responsible for turning the headlights on and off.
Useful information about the Neva MB-2k walk-behind tractor with the DM-1k engine
I decided to put in order the garden walk-behind tractor my parents bought about 7 years ago. The device began to stall and behave very badly. Well, it’s not surprising, during these 7 years no maintenance was done to it, only a year ago I rebuilt and lubricated the starter block, since the rope was no longer wound up at all.
I went online and realized that they sell walk-behind tractors on every second website, but it’s hard to find meaningful information on the content. Therefore, I am sharing what I managed to dig up, maybe it will be useful to someone.
To begin with, it turned out that my father had been pouring the wrong gasoline from the very beginning. The drygatel is designed for the A-76, and the lily is the A-95. But it could have burned out. On the walk-behind tractor itself there is no information about the type of gasoline, but there is a tag with the engine model and power. Here is a sign taken somewhere on the Internet, by which you can determine the brand of gasoline.
Next about the oil. The oil obviously needs to be changed sometimes. There is oil in the engine and gearbox.
The engine manual, which I did find, lists the oils: M10GI, M12GI, M53/10G1, M63/12G1. Horrified by the abbreviations, I rummaged through the forums. In principle, everyone uses ordinary modern automobile oil. Only traditionally there is debate about the type of oil - mineral or synthetic.
I took VAMP 10W-40, about 120 UAH for 4 liters at Epicenter (the amount of oil in the crankcase is 1.3 liters). Oil viscosity according to SAE is selected based on the air temperature at which the unit is operated.
The gearbox oil in the instructions is stated verbatim: gearbox oils according to GOST 23652-79. Read whatever you like. In the same Epicenter there was only one oil, the label of which clearly indicated gearboxes in the area of application - VAMP TAD-17i. Costs about 50 UAH for 3 liters. Crankcase volume – 2.2 liters.
By the way, during the process of overhauling the carburetor, it was discovered that a break-in plate was installed between the carburetor and the intake manifold, which does not allow the engine to be given full throttle (it reduces the intake diameter). The network recommends not removing the plate.
Almost all useful information and adjustment methods are indicated in the instructions for the walk-behind tractor and engine, which I highly recommend reading. But, firstly, you need to find them, and secondly, find the time to read them. It should be noted that in 7 years of living in a shed, nothing particularly critical has happened to the walk-behind tractor, so, in my opinion, it’s not worth worrying about all the service points indicated in the instructions - there’s too much of everything there.
The following is information from the instructions, which I noted as important for myself.
- When installing the cultivator, the sharp edges of all knives must be installed in the direction of movement of the walk-behind tractor.
- If the pneumatic wheels slip, it is recommended to attach additional weights to the walk-behind tractor, up to 80% of the weight of the walk-behind tractor.
- The permissible work time of one operator per working day should not exceed two hours.
- The service life of the walk-behind tractor is 5 years (I hope it will last 25).
- When selling a walk-behind tractor, there must be a spare spark plug (A-11, SI-12RT), belt, and gasket.
- One of the main conditions for successful engine operation is the quality and purity of the gasoline used. In the vast majority of cases, engine failures are associated with clogging of the carburetor metering jets (channels) with dirt and deposits of resins released from the fuel.
- To reduce noise and direct exhaust gases, a muffler is installed on the engine, the cover of which with the exhaust window has three fixed positions (why this is necessary is not explained, maybe this is a typo from the next paragraph about the fuel valve).
- To stop the engine, a STOP button is provided, which closes the electrical ignition circuit to ground (when the throttle is moved to the STOP position) and thus stops sparking on the spark plug.
- When starting a cold engine, close the choke completely. When starting a warm engine, do not close the air damper.
- When starting the engine, set the throttle to one-quarter to one-eighth of full travel. Fill the float chamber by pressing the plunger and hold it until fuel appears from the drainage hole.
- After starting, set the throttle to XX, warm up the engine at XX for two to three minutes. During warm-up, do not set the maximum speed, otherwise the engine may seize.
- Do not clean the carburetor calibrated holes with metal objects.
- Oil or fuel must not come into contact with the air filter.
When ordering spare parts, it is advisable to know their code. Many codes can be found in the instructions if you look at them carefully. For example, my fuel supply valve broke, it was not easy to find. Found at the VDNKh company, phone number: (094) 925-71-53.
Before this, a lot of time was spent searching in other offices, and you won’t be able to come and buy in this one either. You need to know the part number and make an advance payment. We also relied on the office’s experience in service and they gave us a liter of expensive synthetic motorcycle oil, which I, naturally, did not pour into the walk-behind tractor. Maybe it will be useful as a thread in a motorcycle. In general, everything is in the best traditions of domestic service
