GolAZ-6228

— 15-meter urban semi-low-floor three-axle bus of the Golitsyn Bus Plant of an especially large class on the Scania L94UB chassis. Designed to work on urban routes with large passenger traffic. Designed for 142 passengers and has 35 seats. It has a large storage area; as one of the options, the manufacturer offers a special device (ramp) for entry/exit of wheelchairs. The bus complies with Euro-3 environmental safety standards.[1]

Story

Model GolAZ-6228

was first presented to the general public at the Cultural Exhibition within the framework of the International Transport Forum ITF-2006 (Moscow, April 11-14, 2006). The model was considered promising; similar buses assembled at other factories (MAZ-107 and Volzhanin-6270) had already proven themselves well on Moscow routes at that time. Like the Volzhanin-6270, the GolAZ-6228 is manufactured on a Scania chassis and is equipped with an engine from the same manufacturer.

At the end of 2006, the State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans received the first 4 GolAZ-6228 buses. The first bus entered the line at the end of December and ran on route 608. The remaining 3 buses were distributed between the Filyovsky bus and trolleybus, 10th and 17th fleets and began to operate in 2007.[2]

From October 2007 to April 2008, the second batch of buses (44 units) was delivered[1], after which Mosgortrans again switched to purchasing three-axle MAZs and Volzhaninov.[2] A total of 77 GolAZ-6228 buses were manufactured and sold in 2007-2008.[1]

I don’t know about anyone, but for me intercity buses have always been associated with the Hungarian Ikarus 200 series. It was on these cars that I went on excursions as a schoolboy, and as a student I made trips from Moscow to Minsk and back. Then it seemed to me that the domestic “classmate” - LAZ-699R - was not even close to the “200”. But time passed, and GolAZ-LiAZ-5256 came to replace the rapidly aging Ikarus buses. Over the past years, the car has been restyled several times, in full accordance with similar phenomena of the base LiAZ-5256. But…

Market requirements are changing. How long ago were 12-meter cars considered big in our country? But new fashion dictates a further increase in length and passenger capacity. In response to these requests, the hero of our article was born.

Currently, two GolAZ-5251 buses are known to the general public - silver and burgundy. And if you don’t delve into the essence, there are few external differences between GolAZ-5251 No. 1 and No. 2. Firstly, the window vents disappeared, and, naturally, an air conditioner casing appeared on the roof. Secondly, the windshield wiper has become a fan type. And thirdly, imitation glazing appeared above the doors. That's all…

In reality, of course, there are more changes. Instance No. 1 is equipped with a YaMZ-656 engine, and in fact an old YaMZ-236, brought to Euro 3. I already explained the presence of this rarity on the new car at the beginning of the article: the first “5251” is a RUNNING LAYOUT for testing certain ideas and He simply doesn’t need a “show-off” engine.

But in engine compartment No. 2 there is a MAN D0836 LOH55 - at the moment the only possible power unit. So far, the OTTS has been received for it, and the installation batch of GolAZ-5251 will be equipped with this particular engine.

There are also differences in the chassis. In the manufacture of No. 1, a standard LiAZ-5256 chassis was used, which was first sawn and then an insert was welded into it, thereby increasing the wheelbase to 6600 mm.

Bus No. 2 has already been created on a promising self-propelled chassis, the essence of which is a modular design. LiAZ assembles the front and rear parts, after which, connecting them with a temporary insert, it sends it to GolAZ. And here they will weld the middle and integrate the resulting chassis into the body.

By the way, the factory warned us that we could forget about No. 1. He completed his mission and is unlikely to appear in public again. Now its main task is to become the carrier of the promising YaMZ-536.

— a bus option for intercity passenger transportation over distances of up to 300–500 km. Assembled on Scania K94UB chassis. Created in 2007, mass production began in 2008. Unlike the city model, GolAZ-6228.10 is high-floor and has two doors instead of three, the front door is single-leaf. The bus has 63 seats; on short-haul routes, an additional 32 standing seats can be used.[1][3]

Currently, production of the GolAZ-6228 and GolAZ-6228.10 models has been discontinued.[4]

GolAZ-6228.10-11 “Voyage L”

In 2013, 88 copies of the modernized version of GolAZ-6228.10 were produced - GolAZ-6228.10-11 “Voyage L”

. The cabins are equipped with climate control systems, comfortable seats with a folding table, luggage racks with individual service units, as well as additional security systems: on-board navigation and communication terminals, in-cabin cameras, video cameras in the cabin and driver's cabin, rear view video cameras; temperature and smoke sensors, automatic fire extinguishing systems; DVRs, Wi-Fi, electronic digital route indicators, auto informers. Buses from the plant arrived at branches of the State Unitary Enterprise MO Mostransavto, and were later used during the preparation and holding of the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi[5].

History and description

GolAZ-6228.10 is an intercity 15-meter bus on a Scania self-propelled chassis.

The bus is designed for operation on routes with intense passenger traffic up to 300 km in length. Large passenger capacity (63 seats / total passenger capacity -95) will allow you to make maximum use of the capabilities of the bus, which is equipped with luggage compartments, luxury seats, and luggage racks. This is the first car of this class in Russia. The bus meets all the requirements of intercity buses - comfortable passenger seats, soft seats adjustable for backrest angle, lifting armrest in the aisle.

The driver's seat is also quite comfortable: the seat is adjustable with air suspension. The bus has good visibility from the driver's seat.

The GolAZ-6228.10 bus is a converted version of the city model. To carry out passenger transportation on intercity routes, bus 6228.10 was designed in accordance with modern requirements for transport of this class. Thus, in the intercity modification 6228.10, the seating arrangement was revised, the level of comfort was increased, and passenger safety was increased. Moreover, the sale of the GolAZ-6228.10 intercity modification can be carried out with the bus equipped with additional specialized options. In addition, a significant difference between the city and intercity models is that when the GolAZ-6228.10 intercity is sold, it includes a luggage compartment with a volume of 8 m3, and the interior is also arranged differently.

Moreover, the width of the passage, as well as the presence of handrails, allows the transportation of standing passengers on bus 6228.10, thus the total passenger capacity is 95 people. As a power unit, the 6228.10 intercity bus is equipped with a 5-cylinder diesel engine DSC 921 of the same Swedish brand as the chassis. The maximum engine power is 310 horsepower. The power unit of model 6228.10 meets all Euro-3 requirements.

GolAZ 6228.10 has a carefully designed body design. The supporting structure of the carriage layout will provide the body of model 6228.10 with a high level of strength. Fewer assemblies and therefore fewer welds ensure the integrity and durability of the 6228.10. Moreover, the steel tube frame integrated with the chassis frame of the 6228.10 bus ensures reliability. And covering the bottom, sides and roof with galvanized steel sheet on both sides prevents negative natural influences. In addition, the front and rear parts of the 6228.10 bus have fiberglass lining, which also increases the service life of the body. The designers also thought about the design of the 6228.10 intercity bus itself and worked on its appearance, so it turned out to be attractive not only from the inside, but also from the outside.

Luggage compartments of the intercity model GolAZ 6228.10 The bus model 6228.10 can be used profitably all year round, thanks to the presence of a heating and ventilation system. The spacious interior is heated by a converter-type heating system with thermal door curtains. The built-in double-glazed windows will provide excellent noise and heat insulation in the interior of the bus 6228.10. In addition, the GolAZ 6228.10 is sold with an Ebershpeher pre-start liquid heater installed. To operate model 6228.10 in summer, the basic configuration includes a natural ventilation system (through hatches and vents). There is also an option for selling GolAZ 6228.10 with the installation of a Thermo King air conditioner.

To increase comfort, as well as improve passenger safety, there is a GolAZ 6228.10 version with additions to the basic configuration of the bus. For example, comfort and coziness in the cabin is enhanced by the possibility of installing curtains on all windows, footrests and the presence of carpeted flooring in the central aisle and in the luggage compartment. Also, all passenger seats in the 6228.10 cabin can be equipped with seat belts. In addition, for more productive work on long-distance routes, there is an option to sell the GolAZ 6228.10 with a sleeping place for the driver (with a heater and telephone), which will allow two drivers to work in shifts.

At the customer's request, various devices can be installed on the GolAZ 6228.10 intercity to provide leisure for passengers on long-distance routes. They include a DVD video system (Blaupunkt) with two LCD monitors, as well as a guide microphone and a driver microphone (both cases only in conjunction with the audio system). These devices will allow you to carry out excursion trips on bus 6228.10.

Where do the firewood come from?

In 2006, a new model appeared in the GolAZ production line - the 15-meter, three-axle GolAZ-6228, on a Scania chassis. However, since 2008, the production of these machines has ceased, and the technological equipment intended for this has been idle. So Golitsyno decided to make maximum use of unused capacity when creating a new bus.

Therefore, GolAZ-5251 and GolAZ-6228 have many unified parts - front and rear masks, roof and sidewalls. But in the instrument panel, only the shape of the panel itself remained unchanged. The devices, their location, the placement of keys and buttons - everything is different. Even the handbrake moved to the left “window sill”.

Now we are mastering new technologies for assembling bodies. For example, the sides are now glued to the frame. Moreover, having achieved a waviness of 0.2 mm/m, it was possible to significantly save putty and abandon the straightening process. The pillars between the luggage compartment hatches have disappeared, and the glazing has become “aquarium-like”. Based on the totality of all implementations, labor intensity decreased by 12%, which in turn led to a reduction in the cost of the bus.

Already from the third copy, a roof made of composite materials – aluminium-plastic – appeared. It is lighter, more durable and is white by default. Painting in the customer's color is an option.

The corrosion resistance of GolAZ-5251 has also increased; the service life of the body is now 12 years. True, the last indicator is quite controversial. Personally, I hope that we will begin to value passengers in action, and not in words, and the bus fleet will be updated much more often.

But that is not all. I believe you know who is the general sponsor of the upcoming Olympics in Sochi. Yes, it's Scania. And do you think the plant’s chances of winning the tender for the supply of buses to service the Olympic Games are greatly increased if the body is installed on a Scandinavian chassis? Golitsyno thinks the same thing, so by 2012 the plans include a GolAZ-5251 on a Scania chassis.

In the near future, it is planned to increase the capacity of the luggage compartments. If now it is 6 m3, then in the future it will grow to 8 m3. This is planned to be achieved by replacing the standard tank from LiAZ-6213 with a new one of original shape. However, even with current performance, GolAZ-5251 is ahead of some of its more famous Western classmates.

Ahead there is a peculiar “growth” of the bus by half a meter in length and 20 cm in height. As a result, the number of seats will increase to 55 and the luggage compartment will become larger. At the same time, the possibility of configuring the interior according to the requirements of a specific customer will expand - be it a toilet, a refrigerator or a kitchen with a wardrobe. It is assumed that, if necessary, the second door can be made double and a wheelchair lift can be installed in it.

The prospects for the line of power plants are interesting.
In addition to the mentioned MAN D0836 LOH55, there will be a choice of other engines. In 2011, a bus equipped with the latest in-line six YaMZ-536 with a displacement of 6650 cm3 and a power of 283 hp should be certified. and torque 1122 N.m at 1300–1600 min-1. And at the end of the same year, a version with a Cummins 6ISBe270 with a volume of 6700 cm3, about 272 “horses”, a torque of 925 N.m at 1200–1700 min-1 will appear, and already in mid-2012 it will become available to customers. In the long term, a modification with a MAN D2066 LOH05 engine with a power of 325 hp is being considered.
