The company is one of the largest Chinese automakers: in total, JMC cars are produced over 300 thousand units per year. JMC stands for Jiangling Motors Company.

The company considers its founding date to be 1968, when trucks called “Genghis Khan” began to be produced under the Jiangxi brand. A qualitatively new stage in the development of Jiangxi began in 1984, when the company began its cooperation with the Japanese corporation Isuzu.

In 1993, Jiangxi was renamed JMC (Jiangling Motors Co., LTD.) and received the official rights to use Isuzu truck and SUV platforms. In addition, in 1995, JMC entered into a partnership agreement with Ford Motors. As part of it, in 1997, it launched the production of Ford Transit trucks, vans and minibuses at its industrial facilities in China.

A very successful model of the JMC company was the four-door JMC Baodian pickup truck, based on the Isuzu Pick Up, which entered the Chinese domestic market in 2000. It was equipped with a 2.8-liter turbocharged diesel engine, completely copied from Isuzu. This model became a hit in China and Asia in general.

Since 2005, JMC has been trying to promote its trucks, SUVs and cars not only in the Asian but also in the world market (including Russia). The abbreviation JMC can be deciphered as Jiangling Motors Co. This is a well-known Chinese company that specializes in the production of trucks and cars, and also produces minibuses and SUVs. The JMC brand was founded in 1952 on the basis of an automobile repair plant named Nanchang Motors Repair Factory, located in the city of Nanchang. Since the beginning of the eighties, this company received the right to produce components and cabins intended for ISUZU brand trucks.

In addition, today JMC produces complete assembly of powerful trucks, collaborating with the enterprise of the Japanese company ISUZU, as well as Itochu.

The nineties brought the JMC company into the history of the automotive industry, when its shares began to be listed on world exchanges. Although the attempt to sell cars of this brand in Europe was never successful, the conclusion of the famous JMC alliance with the larger Ford Motor Company, which was carried out in 1997, still gave a significant competitive advantage. And the Chinese-made JX493ZLQ4A engines of the line are made on an unlined block. This was done to reduce the price of the car. That is, the cylinder block in the JX493ZLQ4A is solid, cast, but the internal diameter of the cylinder for the piston is the same as that of the Isuzu 4JB1 - 93 mm.

There are other significant differences between the Chinese and Japanese versions of the four-cylinder diesel engine, which make the Isuzu 4JB1 and JX493ZLQ4A not copies, but rather distant relatives. Simply put, the JX493ZLQ4A is a cheaper version of the Isuzu 4JB1.

The working volume of this diesel engine is 2771 cm3. The compression ratio is 17.2. The maximum power of the JX493ZLQ4A engine is 85 horsepower (at 3600 rpm). The maximum torque is 285 Nm at 2000 rpm.
