Timber log carriers are designed to transport logs from the logging site or intermediate warehouse to the place of long-term storage or sale. Compared to timber carriers, log carriers have a greater carrying capacity.
In the Krasnoyarsk Territory and Siberia, log carriers are often used as part of road trains with a corresponding log trailer (we offer timber trailers produced by NEFAZ, SZAP, AvtoStar). In this case, a larger volume of wood is transported in one trip, which reduces the final transportation costs.
There are quite a lot of factories that produce forestry equipment on KAMAZ chassis. Models KamAZ 6520 and 65115
Log carriers based on KamAZ 6520 are very popular in the modern market. The car is equipped with a 320 hp diesel engine. Design and device
The KamAZ 43118 log carrier and other models are designed as follows: a special platform is installed behind the driver’s cab, allowing for the transportation of timber. The platform is equipped with special bunks - fastening devices that ensure reliable placement of the transported assortment. To increase the reduction in labor intensity and time spent when working with materials, special equipment can be equipped with a manipulator unit.
A log truck with a hydraulic manipulator is capable, in addition to transportation, of loading and unloading timber whose length does not exceed 6 meters. The KamAZ truck chassis can be equipped with a CMU of various models, including Sinegorets 65C, 75 or 110, Atlant LV-185-10, Epsilon E90L80, Loglift and others.
Log transport equipment is a heavy dump truck, characterized by an increased load capacity and equipped with the most modern and efficient equipment models, including:
- power steering;
- gearbox;
- wheel and axle locking systems;
- clutch, etc.
Such special equipment with a manipulator installation can be used not only as a timber carrier , but also for transporting bulk cargo, agricultural products, building materials and in any other conditions where there is a need for high power and working life. Reinforcement of the frame provides the vehicle with a carrying capacity of up to 20 tons. KamAZ brand log trucks usually have a 6x4 wheel arrangement, and their platform has a remote control and a tipper design with a volume of 12 m3 and a maximum lift of up to 50°.
The operator located on the manipulator column is responsible for controlling the CMU. Certain types of installations also provide for the use of a remote control, with which the manipulator is controlled from the ground.
