Brief description of the model

All-terrain vehicles with all-wheel drive on a 4x4 chassis can rightfully be called the most prepared and reliable trucks for working in off-road conditions.

They are capable of transporting goods alone or with a trailer, and delivering special equipment to hard-to-reach places. An important feature of 4x4 special cargo vehicles from the Minsk Automobile Plant is its adaptability to domestic climate conditions, including severe, prolonged frosts.

The chassis have a small wheelbase, allowing all kinds of compact special equipment to be installed on a frame with an installation length of 3600 mm.

Models with single tires have better off-road capability - a quality that is the most important advantage when operating a truck as an all-terrain vehicle.

MAZ-531605 trucks are equipped with reliable old-style MAZ cabs, modernized to reduce noise and vibration, insulate, and increase comfort for the driver at his workplace.

These machines are manufactured with reliable and durable components from well-known manufacturers. In particular, engines from the Yaroslavl Motor Plant (YaMZ-238DE2). They are distinguished by their unpretentiousness and significant service life: up to 1 million km. The Minsk Automobile Plant continues to introduce a new line of off-road vehicles to the market: following the lightweight all-wheel drive chassis with 4x4 and 6x6 wheel arrangements, the MAZ-63362L model with an 8x8 wheel arrangement has been developed.

MAZ-63362L is distinguished by a reinforced design, while the technically permissible total weight of this four-axle chassis is only 38,000 kg, and the axle load on the drive axles does not exceed 10,000 kg.

At the same time, the new product is equipped with a powerful 460-horsepower Weichai WP12.460 E50 engine and an Allison 4500 automatic transmission - similar units are installed on the MAZ-65262L dump truck (another important new product of the Minsk Automobile Plant with an 8x8 wheel arrangement, but of a heavy class).

As they said at the car plant, the MAZ-63362L is designed for use as a base for the installation of various special superstructures for the oil and gas and construction industries, where a combination of high load capacity and cross-country ability is required.

The load capacity of the new chassis is 22,950 kg. The length of the mounting frame is 8605 mm. The chassis is equipped with a power take-off, a 500-liter fuel tank and all-terrain tires 16.00 R20 BEL-95 (“Belshina”).

By the way, in terms of its design and scope of application, the MAZ-63362L is similar to the four-axle MZKT-750004. However, the latter has a large total weight (46,000 kg) and carrying capacity (29,700 kg), so they are unlikely to compete with each other.

It should be noted that the emergence of a whole range of lightweight all-wheel drive trucks at the Minsk Automobile Plant is a response to market demands: due to the tightening of control over permissible axial loads on the road surface, operating organizations have sharply increased interest in vehicles with increased carrying capacity without exceeding the total weight.

The first in the new line were the MAZ-5302C5 (4x4) and MAZ-6302C5 (6x6) chassis, the total weight of which is 16,000 and 24,000 kg, respectively.

Last year, the MAZ-4372C2 (4x4) chassis with a total weight of 14,000 kg (axle distribution – 6000+8000 kg) entered the market. With a curb weight of 7400 kg, it has a payload capacity of 6600 kg.

The MAZ-4372C2 is equipped with a 238-horsepower YaMZ-53653 engine and a ZF 9S1310TO 9-speed manual transmission. The transfer case is made by MAZ, single-speed, without differential, with switchable front axle drive. Axles - with lockable center and lockable cross-axle differentials (also manufactured by MAZ).

The truck of this model is equipped with an engine from the Yaroslavl Motor Plant, model YaMZ-238DE2 (Euro-2).

This is an eight-cylinder diesel engine, four-stroke, with a V-shaped cylinder arrangement, compression ignition, direct injection of diesel fuel, turbocharging, liquid cooling, intercooling of charge air in an air-to-air heat exchanger installed on the vehicle.

The diesel fuel supply system for the YaMZ-238DE2 engine consists of 2 fuel tanks 4 and 5 with fuel intakes, a manual fuel pump, and a coarse fuel filter.

For reliable operation of this vehicle in low temperature conditions, the engine power system is equipped with a diesel fuel heating system. The waste fuel is heated in a heat exchanger built into the pipeline of the gas exhaust system. The heated diesel fuel is supplied to the fuel tank mixer, directly to the intake point.

When the ambient temperature is above 5–10 degrees, the heating system turns off. In this case, diesel fuel begins to be drained directly into the fuel tank, bypassing the heat exchanger.

The engine air supply system consists of two dry-type ejection-free air filters, with a dust collection hopper and a replaceable cardboard filter element.

The filters are connected to the suction air path in parallel. To cool the oil, a liquid-oil heat exchanger (LOH) is installed on the engine. When draining coolant from the cooling system, be sure to open the valve on the liquid coolant.

The charge air intercooling system includes an aluminum charge air cooler, which is connected to the engine by piping and elastic hoses. The cooler is an all-welded heat exchanger.

As an additional option, it is also possible to install a diesel engine preheater. In this case, in the cooling system, a PZD-30 heater is installed on a bracket under the radiator, which is designed to facilitate engine starting at ambient temperatures below 20 degrees below zero.

The modern all-wheel drive dump truck MAZ-6502N9 6x6 replaces the dump trucks of the MAZ-6422 family. MAZ-6502N9 is a new generation vehicle with a carrying capacity of 19 tons, a total weight of up to 35,000 kg, and has several types of heated dump bodies, including a northern version, with additional thermal insulation of the platform base.

ENGINE

MAZ-6502N9 runs on a six-cylinder in-line diesel engine of the YaMZ-650 family.

The YaMZ-650 engine (Renault dCi11) has a volume of 11.12 liters, dimensions 123x156 mm, is equipped with a turbocharger, an intercooler, and a four-valve block head common to all cylinders. The camshaft is located in the block, the timing gear drive is located in the front part. At the bottom of the cylinder block, between it and the pan, a cast aluminum plate is installed, which gives additional rigidity to the block and improves oil cooling.

The engine has three power settings: 311, 361 and 412 hp at 1900 rpm, torque - from 1215 to 1870 Nm at 1100-1300 rpm. The minimum specific fuel consumption varies depending on the setting: from 190 to 194.5 g/kWh. Fuel equipment - electronically controlled Common Rail. Its spray pressure reaches up to 1400 atmospheres. Fuel system manufacturer – Bosch. The YaMZ-651 and YaMZ-652 motors are nothing more than a modernized version of the YaMZ-650, brought by Yaroslavl specialists to Euro-4 standards.

BorgWarner turbocharger, alternator and starter from Mitsubishi Electric Co. To facilitate cold starts, Beru glow plugs are used, thanks to which the engine can start without heating at temperatures of -20 and below. A two-cylinder pneumatic compressor with a capacity of 500 l/min provides the brakes on the trailer if required.

TRANSMISSION
The transfer case on the MAZ-6502N9 is single-stage, with a gear ratio i=1.107. Probably for the first time, a heavy dump truck has a single-speed transfer case. The gearbox has a differential and a differential lock. Upon request, the plant can install a two-stage transfer case, for example, ZF VG 2000.

The MAZ drive axle is equipped with hub planetary gearboxes. On MAZ axles are not with four straight-toothed satellites, but with five-satellite planetary gears in the hubs, in which the gears are helical.

Now the front drive axle of the MAZ-6502N9 has five-pinion hub gears, but the satellites are smaller in width than the rear ones. The bridge has increased its load-bearing capacity to 9-10 tons, there is a new pivot unit, new CV joints - with double crosses, and unified with foreign analogues. As an option, it is possible to install a locking cross-axle differential on the front axle - in this design, in combination with locked differentials of the bogie axles, the dump truck's cross-country ability will be comparable to that of a crawler tractor.

According to the results of tests carried out at MAZ, the expected service life of bridges, and in particular gearboxes, should be a million kilometers.

SUSPENSION

MAZ began using new frames - with side members of an even profile along the entire length.

The frame of the MAZ-5440 truck tractor has a side member height of 280 mm, a shelf of 80 mm, a profile thickness of 8 mm, while the MAZ-6502N9 has a stronger frame. With the same flange width and rolled thickness, higher spars are used - 310 mm. The side members are reinforced with channel inserts 8 mm thick, but not along the entire length, but only from the rear brackets of the front springs and almost to the end of the frame.

A feature of modern Mazov frames is that they are now painted with powder enamel, which is more durable and resistant to corrosion.

The rear balancer suspension is assembled on conventional semi-elliptical springs, but they can withstand a load of 26 tons, that is, 13 tons per axle. Hinges of reaction rods with silent blocks.

TIRES

For dual-pitch tires, 315/80R22.5 tires are used. At the request of the customer, a single-pitch tire is also possible as it provides the best cross-country ability, but the maximum is 16.00R20.

CABIN
MAZ-6502N9 6x6 has a short cabin - one and a half. This is practically the same cabin as the MAZ-4371 Zubrenok. Behind the seat backs there is additional space for things and it is possible to place a folding bunk.

The fundamental difference between the dump truck cabin and the Zubrenok cabin is that the MAZ-6502N9 cabin is two-seater, with a four-point suspension on spring struts. None of the Minsk dump trucks had such soft cab suspension before.

The interior of the car has a well-designed panel and instrument cluster. The door trim is also very good for a dump truck.

MAZ-6502 with a 6x6 wheel arrangement is designed for operation in difficult road conditions. It is also effective when transporting various construction and industrial bulk cargo on public roads.

The plant offers a whole line of heavy all-wheel drive MAZ trucks of the new generation. In addition to the 6x6 MAZ 6502H9 dump trucks, new products are offered for sale: the MAZ-6302N9 log hauler, the MAZ-6318N9 chassis for installing municipal equipment, as well as the MAZ-6432N9 all-wheel drive tractor.

Transmission of the MAZ-531605 car

The clutch release drive is hydraulic, with pneumatic reinforcement. The gearbox, model YaMZ-239, is a nine-speed, mechanical, consisting of a main five-speed and an additional two-speed gearbox.

Five-speed main gearbox - with a dual-range planetary range, with synchronizers in all gears except first speed and reverse gear.

There is also a starter blocking when the gear is engaged; electronic speedometer sensor.

Gear shifting is controlled by a lever or mechanism for connecting a remote drive, with the connecting shaft exiting to the left in the main box and semi-automatic pneumatic switching of the range with automatic locking of the low range.

The maximum input torque of the gearbox is 1800 N.m.

The weight of the gearbox (with housing) is 385 kg.

The gear ratios at the gearbox are as follows: 1 - 12.24; 2 - 6.88; 3 - 4, 86; 4 - 3.50; 5 - 2.74; 6 - 1.97; 7 - 1.39; 8 - 1.00; 9 - 0.78; reverse gear - 10.04.

Type of propeller shaft mounting flange: ISO8667-T180. The flanges of the cardan shafts are made with cross-shaped end splines. The propeller shaft joints have a flow-through lubrication system for needle bearings.

Drive axles

The rear drive axle of the MAZ-531605 has a double spaced main gear, which consists of a central bevel gearbox and planetary wheel gears (they are located in the wheel hubs).

The rear axle differential has a forced locking mechanism. The cross-axle differential is locked, if necessary, by the driver from the cab by pressing a button on the instrument panel. The interwheel differential lock drive is electro-pneumatic.

The differential lock is activated when overcoming slippery road sections, on mud and off-road, when the car is stopped or when driving at low speeds (about 10 km/h). When driving on roads with sharp turns, the cross-axle differential lock must be disabled.

The front drive axle consists of a central gearbox and planetary wheel gears.

Most of the gearbox and wheel gear parts of the front drive axle are unified with similar parts of the rear drive axle.

The drive axle ratio is 6.59.

Suspension, wheels and tires MAZ-531605

The front and rear suspensions of the MAZ-531605 truck are leaf springs. Steering and brakes

The MAZ-531605 steering system includes a steering mechanism with a built-in distributor, a steering column, a power cylinder, a pump, an oil tank, and hoses. The power steering distributor is of the spool type, built into the steering mechanism.

The vehicle is equipped with service, parking, spare and auxiliary brake systems, as well as devices for connecting the trailer brake system - with a two-wire pneumatic drive and outputs for supplying other consumers with compressed air.

The service brake system affects the braking mechanisms of all wheels of the car. The mechanism drive is pneumatic, with separate braking of the front and rear wheels.

The parking brake system acts on the brake mechanisms of the rear drive axle. These mechanisms are driven by brake chambers with spring energy accumulators.

The parking brake system also serves as a spare one. It is designed to brake the vehicle in the event of a complete or partial failure of the service brake system.

The auxiliary brake system acts on the truck's transmission by creating back pressure in the exhaust system - using a pneumatically actuated throttle valve. This system is designed to slow down the car on long descents of mountain roads. When you turn the valve, the diesel fuel supply is also turned off.

When the tractor vehicle is braked by the working or parking (spare) systems, simultaneous braking of the trailer occurs.

Brake mechanisms - drum, shoe, double servo action, with lever release of the shoes, with two internal shoes and an easily removable brake drum.

The brake drive of the parking brake system is mechanical, multi-pass, with manual control.

It is also possible to install a generator 3232, 3771 produced by the Belarusian enterprise JSC BATE in the city of Borisov. Its distinctive feature is the absence of an excitation terminal. Self-excitation of the generator occurs at a rotor speed of no more than 1200 rpm.

As a result of successful cooperation with the German concern, all trucks are equipped with engines, radiators, mufflers, and filters manufactured by MAN (Germany). In this regard, cars are characterized by low fuel consumption and an extremely rare need for repairs. At the client's request, the equipment can be equipped with the necessary set of functions.

Truck tractors

Available in three wheel configurations: 4x2, 6x4, 6x6.

Designed to transport various cargo with a total weight of 40 to 80 tons independently or as part of a road train. They work with semi-trailers, on diesel engines 400-440 hp, gearbox - 16 speed + 2 reverse gears, fuel tank capacity from 300 to 700 liters. It is possible to install a cabin to choose from several options for configuration, options, and color scheme.

The 6x6 model is adapted to work in extreme conditions (-60 degrees), as well as on difficult roads. The truck is equipped with a reinforced frame, an additional cabin heater and engine heating.

Dump trucks

6x4, 6x6 - due to the high load capacity - 27 tons, and the volume of transported cargo up to 18 m3, they are characterized by increased productivity and low operating costs. These are powerful trucks with diesel engines up to 480 hp, gearbox - 16+2, reinforced frame, low short cab without beds.

Chassis 6x2, 6x4

Designed for installation of various superstructures in the form of a platform, body, and special equipment. They are used both separately and in a road train, equipped with powerful German engines up to 480 hp. Load capacity 17-31 tons, spacious fuel tank. The 6x2 model has a 16+2-speed gearbox, the 6x4 has a 9+1-reverse gearbox.

There are two types of cabins: low without sleeping places or high with places to sleep.

In addition to trucks, MAZ-MAN equipment includes loaders of various configurations and snow and swamp-going vehicles.

Cabin MAZ-531605

The cabin of the old MAZ model is located above the engine. It is all-metal, of welded construction, double, tiltable forward. The cabin is equipped with a heating system and natural forced ventilation.

Depending on the configuration of the machine, it can be installed:

  • the cabin is large, unsprung, with one upper berth;
  • large unsprung cabin with 2 berths; large sprung cabin with two berths.

To service the power unit, the cabin tilts forward using a hydraulic mechanism. In the transport position, the cabin is secured with a locking mechanism and a safety rope.

The front suspension of the cabin is carried out by means of articulated supports, which rest on cylindrical springs mounted on the bumper bracket, and 2 telescopic shock absorbers.

The driver's seat is sprung, with a pneumatic elastic element, equipped with mechanisms for vertical and horizontal adjustment, and adjustment of the angle of the seat back. The headrest and armrests are an additional option, upon a separate order of the consumer.

The doors in the cabin are two-panel, stamped from sheet steel, welded and rolled around the perimeter. In the middle part of the inner door panel there are hatches for mounting and dismantling glass, window lifters, door lock and lock drive.

Transportation of timber - MAZ-MAN 6x6 chassis

According to the rules for transporting timber, it is necessary to use special equipment - timber trucks and their varieties - log carriers. Depending on the dimensions of the logs, the appropriate type of road transportation is selected. This can be a tractor with a trailer or semi-trailer, as well as a chassis with a special superstructure or a platform for it.

Equipment for transporting timber must be equipped with U-shaped welded structures to limit the logs and anti-slip elements for their reliable fixation. An important criterion for choosing a truck is its maneuverability, which eliminates unforeseen stops along the way.

Chassis 6x6

From the MAZ-MAN line of trucks, a chassis with a 6x6 wheel arrangement is used for transporting timber. Timber and log carriers are built on its basis. The decisive factors in favor of choosing this model are increased cross-country ability and adaptation to low temperature conditions.

  • As part of a road train, a total weight of up to 90 tons is allowed. Strong turbo-diesel German engine 440 hp. equipped with a speed limiting and maintaining function.
  • A 16-speed plus two reverse gearbox and a transfer case made in Germany are installed.
  • On the left is a fuel tank with a capacity of 300, 500, 700 liters.

  • You can choose from a high cabin with sleeping places or a low cabin without them. Both configurations are comfortable and equipped with all the necessary options.

When transporting cargo over long distances, in difficult climatic and road conditions, it is extremely important to avoid vehicle breakdowns along the way. This is fraught with delays in delivery, a decrease in the quality of the cargo, and a difficult situation for the driver. Such problems can only be avoided by using properly selected equipment.

Loading platform

The MAZ-531605 cargo platform has steel sides and a rigid front side. The side and rear sides are hinged and easily removable. The flooring of the loading platform is wooden. An awning is stretched over the cargo platform, which is installed on a tubular metal frame and secured with a special rope. The platform is attached to the frame using brackets and bolted connections.

The tailgate is equipped with folding steps. The half-platform has a hatch for servicing the transfer case. The front corners of the lattice sides are connected by hooks, and the rear pillars of these sides are pulled together by two chains.

Folding benches—seats for transporting people—are suspended from the racks of the side lattice sides on hinges. In these cases, these benches are folded into the working position and held by stops, and when transporting cargo they are secured in the transport position with latches, and together with the backs of the benches they form lattice sides.
