New model - new level

MOAZ-75050 is a representative of the new generation of off-road vehicles with a 4x4 wheel arrangement, which is currently produced by OJSC BELAZ.

Let us recall that back in 2003, URP “MoAZ named after. S.M.Kirova" was withdrawn from the BelavtoMAZ PA and included in the BelAZ PA. In 2006, the plant was joined to BelAZ as a branch. Since 2012, the company has been named in full as follows: “Branch of OJSC BELAZ - manager in the city of Mogilev - Mogilev Automobile Plant named after S.M. Kirov.” Nevertheless, the MOAZ brand has been preserved as an independent brand; a variety of cars with this emblem are still produced in Mogilev, although not in such quantities as during the Soviet era.

In technical terms, the MOAZ-75050 is a further development of the 25-tonne MOAZ-75054, which has been produced since 2003. It will probably seem strange to you that the new model was given a lower index, but we have no explanation. We can only note that this is not the first such oddity in the indexing of Mogilev dump trucks.

The development of design documentation for a new all-terrain vehicle with a rigid frame was completed in 2015. In the same year, the first prototype of the MOAZ-75050 was assembled in the BELAZ experimental workshop in Zhodino, after which the dump truck was delivered to Mogilev for modification and laboratory work under the preliminary testing program.

MOAZ-75050 received a more modern and advanced 6-cylinder turbodiesel Scania DC09 076A with an electronic control system. It has slightly less power (345 hp compared to 360 hp for YaMZ-7512.10-4 on MOAZ-75054), but is characterized by high fuel efficiency and environmental friendliness (meets Stage 3A / Tier 3 standards). A distinctive feature of the design is individual cylinder heads, which reduces labor intensity and reduces the cost of repair work. When equipping the dump truck with a Scania engine, the fairly widely developed service structure of this company in the CIS countries was taken into account.

The transmission is a hydromechanical transmission with a four-wheel torque converter (has automatic locking), a shaft gearbox with friction clutches, an electro-hydraulic control drive, a hydraulic retarder and a power take-off gearbox to drive hydraulic pumps. To improve cross-country ability and increase traction, the design uses a limited-slip cross-axle differential.

The frame is welded, made of high-strength low-alloy steel. In the most loaded areas, structural elements were strengthened (suspension supports, body and cab supports). Suspension – pneumohydraulic.

The body is of a bucket type, with a protective visor and heated by exhaust gases. Welded from high-strength wear-resistant steel (due to this, its weight was reduced by 260 kg). Capacity – at least 15.5 cubic meters.

Curb weight of MOAZ-75050 is 20,000 kg, gross weight is 45,000 kg (axle distribution is 22,500+22,500 kg). Overall dimensions of the dump truck: length – 8000 mm, width – 3282 mm, height – 3635 mm. Wheelbase – 3550 mm. The car has an impressive ground clearance of 500 mm. The smallest outer turning radius is 11 m. The maximum speed without load on a horizontal section of the road is 50 km/h.

The original cabin has a modern design. It is noise and vibration insulated and is attached to the main frame using shock absorbers. Equipped with FOPS and ROPS security systems. The large glass area provides excellent visibility. The driver's seat is air-sprung, with adjustable position and backrest angle. The steering column is adjustable for reach and tilt. The interior is improved through the use of ABS plastic panels. The cabin includes an intelligent electronic instrument panel that allows you to control all parameters of the dump truck in real time, an efficient heating system, and air conditioning.

Last year, after completing factory tests, MOAZ-75050 went for operational tests to the Gomel Mining and Processing Plant branch of Gomelsteklo OJSC. As a result, the new dump truck received good reviews for its efficiency and productivity. The operators were especially impressed by the maneuverability of the new vehicle. It is always difficult for equipment to drive through the sand pits of the Gomel Mining and Processing Plant after rains. However, nothing could stop the MOAZ-75050: even when a fully loaded dump truck buried all its wheels in the mud and lay its frame on the ground, it eventually still managed to get out. Another noted plus of the new car is good handling. In general, the dump truck has turned out well and is going into production.

A brief excursion into history

By the way, this year Mogilev all-terrain dump trucks are celebrating a kind of anniversary: 60 years ago, the first 4x4 earth truck, MoAZ-522, was introduced. This revolutionary machine for its time, which had no analogues in the Soviet Union, was created on its own initiative by a young design bureau headed by Nikolai Andreevich Sidorov.

Let us remember that the history of the MOAZ brand was just beginning. In 1958, a single-axle MAZ-529V tractor was transferred from Minsk to the Mogilev Material Handling Equipment Plant from Minsk for development.

It is worth noting that the MAZ-529V was a dual-use vehicle. It was developed at SKB-1 (chief designer Boris Lvovich Shaposhnik) with the prospect of widespread use in the Soviet Army for operation in conjunction with special trailers for various purposes.

For example, in the Strategic Missile Forces, this tractor was used as part of missile system installers at stationary positions. In addition, rocket fuel tankers and special military truck cranes were developed for the MAZ-529V.

In 1959, mass production of new equipment began in Mogilev, including self-propelled scrapers, which became indispensable in road, hydraulic engineering, irrigation and industrial construction - not a single major construction project in the Soviet Union in the 1960-1970s could do without them.

In 1960, a branch of OGK MAZ for single- and two-axle tractors was organized at the plant - the core of the team was a group of designers who moved (led by N.A. Sidorov) to Mogilev from Minsk.

Over the first few years of work, they created new single-axle (MoAZ-546) and two-axle (MoAZ-542) tractors, and at their nodes - a unique off-road dump truck MoAZ-522 all-terrain terrain.

The new product was distinguished by all-wheel drive (4x4), uniform weight distribution along the axles, a short wheelbase, increased ground clearance, single-pitch tires, special large-sized tires with developed lugs - all this was supposed to provide the MoAZ-522 with the ability to work in off-road conditions, on swampy soils , in quicksand, that is, everywhere where ordinary dump trucks could not pass. Nothing like this had been produced in the USSR until that moment.

MoAZ-522 was equipped with the latest 240-horsepower YaMZ-238 diesel engine, a 9-speed transmission and, with its own weight of 17 tons, could transport up to 18 tons of cargo. The first prototype of the dump truck had a two-seat unified MAZ-529 cab and spring axle suspension. Later, improved samples with a new cabin and hood of our own design were tested.

In 1966, in accordance with the order of the USSR Ministry of Automotive Industry, the Mogilev VET Plant was renamed the Mogilev Automobile Plant named after. S.M.Kirova.

In 1967, a modification of the MoAZ-522A appeared, which received a more powerful 300-horsepower YaMZ-238N engine, a hydropneumatic suspension with a nonlinear characteristic, a hydromechanical transmission, a single-seat cabin, a larger capacity body and a payload capacity increased to 20 tons.

During factory tests in 1968, the modernized dump truck confirmed its high efficiency when working in off-road conditions, especially during the spring thaw. It seemed that a wonderful future awaited the car in the USSR - such equipment was very necessary in the development of gas and oil fields and the laying of pipelines, in the construction of roads and railways.

Unfortunately, the path to mass production for this dump truck, for various reasons, stretched for more than a decade - mass production of the MoAZ-522A began only in 1979. The serial dump truck received the new designation MoAZ-6507 in accordance with the USSR vehicle classification system in force at that time.

In 1987, the Mogilev Automobile Plant introduced the modernized MoAZ-7505 off-road dump truck. Its main differences from the 6507 model are a new single-seat cabin, a more powerful 320-horsepower YaMZ-238FM turbodiesel, a payload capacity increased to 23 tons, a curb weight reduced by 400 kg, and a service life before major overhaul increased by almost 10% (for the 6507 - 100 thousand km). km). Later there were attempts to install an even more powerful YaMZ-8481.10 engine (350 hp) and even an imported Cummins.

However, modifications MoAZ-75051 and MoAZ-750511 with a 300-horsepower YaMZ-238B were mass-produced. This machine has proven itself well in difficult road conditions in Western Siberia and the Far East. The main consumers of the equipment were Russian enterprises in the gas and oil and gas industries.

In 2002, documentation was developed for the new MOAZ-75054 dump truck with a lifting capacity of 25 tons with a 360-horsepower YaMZ-7512.10 engine. The model was distinguished by higher performance, increased reliability and service life. The labor intensity of maintenance and repairs was reduced, and more comfortable conditions were created in the driver’s workplace.

In 2013, a prototype of the MOAZ-75055 dump truck was manufactured with a 355-horsepower Cummins QSM11-C350 engine, self-locking differentials on drive axles (No-Spin), automatic gear shift control, a fuel consumption control system, and heated oil in the hydraulic transmission from an external power source. In the same year, the plant switched to the production of modernized MoAZ-75054-40 dump trucks.

Now the Mogilev Automobile Plant will have to develop an even more advanced model.

Everyone working at the plant knows and fulfills the requirements: work without defects, without defects, without complaints.

History of the plant

The Mogilev Automobile Plant was established in 1935 as an automobile repair plant. Over the past period, the production profile has changed several times. At the end of the 30s, the Mogilev ARZ was actually a defense enterprise - a significant part of its program consisted of special orders. It was the main repair base for automobile and armored units of the Western Special Military District. During the Great Patriotic War, the plant was evacuated to the Volga region and became part of an engine-building giant that produced aircraft engines for the famous IL-2.

In the post-war period, the plant produced steam power plants with power from 10 to 100 hp. The installations were intended primarily for electrification and heating of agriculture and local industry. From 1955 to 1968, the plant produced electric bridge cranes with a lifting capacity of 5 tons and oil tankers based on GAZ vehicles, and since 1960 it switched to the production of earth-moving, transport and automotive equipment.

The transition to the production of earthmoving, transport and automotive equipment is carried out with the direct participation of the Minsk Automobile Plant, a close relationship with which continues to this day.

In 1960, a group of designers was transferred from the Minsk Automobile Plant, which was the basis for creating the design and experimental base of the plant.

The Mogilev Automobile Plant is one of the largest manufacturers of earthmoving and transport equipment in the CIS countries, has its own design and experimental base, develops, produces and markets road construction equipment and special-purpose vehicles.

The plant includes foundry, procurement, welding, tool, machining and assembly production. Having thirty years of experience in the creation and production of earthmoving and transport equipment, the plant is a monopolist in the CIS countries in the development and production of self-propelled scrapers, road trains for working in underground conditions, fully driven dump trucks with a carrying capacity of 23 tons, airfield tractors for towing aircraft with a flight weight of over 400 tons .

The high degree of unification of components and systems, the growth and reliability of the designs of manufactured machines contributed to their widespread use in the CIS countries and abroad. In the period 1970 - 90. The automobile plant provided the need for self-propelled scrapers, underground road trains, and dump trucks with a carrying capacity of 23 tons in all republics of the former Union.

Export supplies of self-propelled scrapers during this period amounted to 15-20% of their production and were supplied to more than 30 countries, including countries in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Latin America. Self-propelled scrapers were used to build: the North Crimean irrigation canal, irrigation systems of the Central Asian republics, all tunnels of the Baikal-Amur Railway were built using a road train for underground work. The builders of the irrigation systems of Ukraine and the Baikal-Amur Mainline gave a high assessment to the working machines of the Mogilev Automobile Plant, installing these machines on the podium on the North Crimean Canal and the Baikal-Amur Mainline, as well as in the city of Naberezhnye Chelny.

More than 30 mines in the countries of the former Soviet Union use the MoAZ-7405-9586 road train for underground work. In recent years, MoAZ-75051 off-road dump trucks with a lifting capacity of 23 tons have found widespread use in the development of gas and oil complexes in Western Siberia. Dump trucks are successfully working at enterprises in Belarus - the Kostyukovichi cement plant, the Volkovysk cement plant, Mikashevichi PA "Granit" and other farms. In the difficult 90s for the plant, relying on the high technical potential of design and technological services, the availability of free production capacity, new products were mastered in a short time: the MoAZ-4048 loader with a lifting capacity of 8 tons, the SMB-049 concrete mixer. A chassis design has been developed for aggregation by MoAZ-6910 seismic engineering systems. A batch of short-base chassis for a crane installation with a lifting capacity of 50 tons MoAZ-8004 has been manufactured. The production of road rollers based on the MoAZ-6442 tractor has been mastered. The first industrial batch of electric vehicles with a carrying capacity of 2 tons was manufactured. In accordance with the Republican program "Concrete", the production of concrete mixers SMB-049 and SMB-070 with a drum capacity of 4 and 6 m3 on the chassis of the Minsk Automobile Plant was mastered. The rapid development of machine designs and their launch into production is ensured thanks to the high professional level of the engineering corps of designers and technologists, as well as the rich experience of production workers. For the development of an underground road train and putting it into production, 10 plant employees in 1972 became Laureates of the State Prize of the BSSR, and for the creation and development of production of a range of earthmoving and transport equipment, 3 plant employees were awarded the honorary title “Honored Worker of Industry of the Republic of Belarus.” The plant is engaged not only in production, but also has a social and cultural complex. Despite financial difficulties, housing construction continues. For the first time in Mogilev, the plant is building two residential buildings. The plant has 3 canteens, a subsidiary farm, and a pigsty for 500 heads. The results of the work of the plant team in 1997 inspire confidence that the team is emerging from a protracted crisis and the rate of increase in production volumes is increasing every month. A set of workers is being recruited for basic professions: turners, welders, mechanics. There are contracts for the supply of wheeled bulldozers, concrete mixers, and garbage trucks. This indicates a revival in the country’s economy of the main consumer of our products - Russia, which will have a beneficial effect on the economic performance of the plant. 1932, August Beginning of construction of the Mogilev Automobile Repair Plant No. 7 (GARZ-7).
