MAN dump trucks are widely known throughout the world as reliable, highly cross-country vehicles with powerful power units, used in almost any climate zone on Earth. They are undemanding to road conditions, withstand maximum environmental temperatures, and easily transport a variety of high-tonnage cargo.
MAN dump trucks
"Man" is a product of the prestigious German brand "MAN", specializing in the production of buses, trucks and engines. The first trucks rolled off Man's production lines back in 1915. Over the past 100 years, they have developed into powerful special units that meet all the latest requirements of the modern world for truck performance, functionality, comfort and safety.
Now the company's dump trucks include several model lines, including vehicles with a total weight from 7 to more than 40 tons. The models are distinguished by their carrying capacity and a wide variety of configurations, depending on the needs of the customer.
The gradation in the series involves choosing a truck according to its “heavy” characteristics:
- The “heaviest” group with a total vehicle weight of up to 44 tons are models from the TGA series, the production of which was discontinued in 2008, as well as the TGS and TGX that replaced them with installed engine power from 360 to 680. ty hp and actual lifting capacity from 15 to 70 tons.
- “Medium-duty trucks” weighing up to 18 tons - TGM, equipped with power from 240 to 380 hp. and the ability to transport cargo weighing up to 20 tons.
- “Low-tonnage vehicles” weighing up to 12 tons - TGL with engines with power from 150 to 250 tons and a lifting capacity of up to 7 tons.
- These special vehicles are widely used both in the construction industry and in the transportation of bulk and other cargo over long distances, in difficult road and weather conditions.
INTERESTING! Since the spring of 2013, in Shushary (district of St. Petersburg), the assembly of MAN cars has been established at the company’s own automobile plant, located at the Russian production site. The plant's plan is to produce about 6 thousand cars per year.
Design Features
Structurally, Man dump trucks provide the consumer with a wide range of options regarding the installation of the power unit (type, volume, etc.), chassis configuration, chassis features, suspension type, and much more.
Design features of MAN dump trucks:
- MAN dump truck engines are of our own production (D08, D22, D2866, D20CR), which differ in different models in power, total volume and number of installed cylinders (4-6). They are distinguished by a generation II fuel injection system, which provides 5% savings in use, and increased compactness with a weight reduction of approximately 100 kg.
- Gearboxes are installed both mechanical and automatic, manufactured by MAN TipMatic or other manufacturers - ZF and Eaton, with the ability to control the mechanics with the ComfortShift switching system without first using the clutch.
- Wheelbases of cars can be equipped with 2, 3 or 4 axles with different drives, which determine a standard or specialized wheel formula - 4*2 (4*4), 6*4 (6*6), 8*4 ( 8*6 or even 8*8). At the same time, 3- and four-axle (4-axle) dump trucks have 2 front pairs of steerable wheels, and all-wheel drive modifications with a steered rear axle are often equipped with dual-pitch tires.
- Chassis suspensions are used on parabolic or trapezoidal springs, which in some modifications can be supplemented with air springs. For quarry dump trucks and those intended for work on technological construction sites, only air suspension can be used.
- The brakes of dump trucks are of the drum type, controlled by pneumatics.
- The cabin design is protected from emergency situations by installing energy-absorbing beams, and is also equipped with several comfort systems - insulation from dust and gas, ventilation, air conditioning and video sensors. All control and management of the car comes completely from here - using on-board electronics.
ATTENTION! Man all-wheel drive dump trucks, intended for transporting goods in hard-to-reach areas, can be equipped with “toothy” single-pitch tires, which results in a slight reduction in load capacity. However, such a disadvantage is more than compensated for by the vehicle’s all-terrain capability (off-road).
Model range and characteristics of MAN dump trucks
The MAN dump truck is one of the widely known types of equipment in the world produced by German manufacturers. The MAN dump truck brand includes truck models weighing from 7 to 40 tons. The cabs of MAN dump trucks are designed taking into account convenience and comfort for the driver: it is mounted using energy-absorbing beams, it has a dust, moisture and gas insulation system, there is ventilation and video sensors . Most MAN dump trucks are equipped with air conditioning. The powerful engines of MAN dump trucks allow you to work in any conditions and perform any construction tasks, as well as carry out internal transportation of bulk cargo. The model range of MAN dump trucks is quite wide and differs in chassis configuration, engine type and size, as well as suspension type.
The production of MAN dump trucks is based on advanced technologies for selecting components and assemblies of various combinations. MAN dump trucks are equipped with components that have passed the most thorough testing at the enterprise and are equipped with powerful 5-6-cylinder engines, which are characterized as economical and with high torque. The German manufacturer's trucks also include front disc brakes. MAN dump trucks have different wheel designs, which range from 4x2 to 8x8, and a 16-speed manual transmission.
MAN dump trucks can have (depending on the number of axles in the chassis) different gross weights. For example, the manufacturer’s line includes three-axle trucks with a gross weight of 40, 33 and 18 tons. MAN four-axle dump trucks have a permissible gross weight of 41 and 35 tons. One of MAN's innovations is the plug-in front axle, which is used on the TGS line of trucks (it was developed to increase the traction of the dump truck and provide it with full driving force).
MAN dump trucks use D20 engines with 480 horsepower that meet environmental requirements as power units. Depending on the load capacity and the type of road surface on which the equipment will be operated, dump trucks are equipped with several types of suspension: spring suspension with parabolic or trapezoidal springs, if the loads are large enough, but the roads are well paved; air suspension - under heavy loads, but off-road. In addition, MAN dump trucks can be equipped with an additional rear axle air suspension, mounted on both high-clearance vehicles and all-wheel drive dump trucks.
MAN dump trucks are also equipped with a comprehensive on-board electronics system, which allows you to quickly process all data and coordinate the operation of all components and assemblies of the truck. Operational movement from a standstill is ensured by electronic control of the dump truck engine. The MAN dump truck can transport over long distances. Trucks can also operate with trailers.
Series
At the moment, models from the TGX, TGS, TGM and TGL series are available for sale “from scratch”, TGA machines are available in a used version.
TGA
TGA until recently stood as the flagship among the range of Man dump trucks. These are heavyweights – “heavy” series trucks with high power and load capacity. They have received worldwide recognition for their unpretentious operation and very high technical performance.
