Popular models of hook lifts based on the KamAZ chassis

It is easy to encounter the disadvantages of highly specialized transport, for example, in agriculture, where, due to the seasonality of work, transport can remain idle for a considerable time. Vehicles equipped with a hook multi-lift system for loading bodies can significantly expand the capabilities of machines, reducing their downtime.

KAMAZ hook lifts

For various versions of the Kama Automobile Plant chassis, hook systems are supplied by various manufacturers, in particular, Velikoluksky Machine-Building Plant and the Dutch company Hyva.

Purpose

The main idea in using such a loading and unloading system is to make the vehicle chassis universal, capable of transporting various types of bodies, including:

  • Bunkers for transporting bulk materials, including agricultural crops, solid waste, construction waste, wood chips, etc.
  • Containers.
  • Change houses, mobile residential buildings, etc. modules.
  • Tanks.
  • Possibility of working with a trailer.

Multilifts are widely used in the armed forces, from where, in fact, they came into civilian use.

Advantages and disadvantages

In addition to reducing the vehicle fleet due to the versatility of using vehicles equipped with a hook lift, several more problems are solved:

  • Vehicle downtime is reduced to a minimum.
  • The chassis can work with different bodies, and the bodies can be used by different vehicles equipped with such a system.
  • Technological downtime for loading and unloading operations is reduced to 3 minutes.
  • High maneuverability, the ability to unload or load in conditions of limited space, including unloading in a “dump” manner.
  • Possibility of working with a trailer.

At the same time, the design is simple, reliable and easy to maintain; manipulations with the bodies do not require the driver to leave the workplace. Unlike the cable loading system, the hook system secures the body on the vehicle at three points, which ensures the rigidity of the load on the vehicle and allows for increased transport speed.

One of the disadvantages is the weight of the system, which you always have to carry with you. The kinematics of the manipulator’s operation imposes certain restrictions on both the length of the platform where the body is installed and the height, limiting its use in tunnels and buildings with a low arch.

Financial aggravation is causing interest in multifunctional solutions, in particular in cars with a hook loader, originally called “multilifts,” although from a legal point of view, “multilift” is as illegitimate as a “copier.” Interest in “multi-lifts”, that is, hook loaders, was aroused primarily by the increase in car prices after the introduction of a recycling fee. A further increase in interest in hook loaders, both as components and as part of a vehicle, caused by rising prices for everything, will be offset by a contraction in the market and will ultimately take, as financial analysts say, a downward trend.

The main area of ​​application for hook loaders with simple containers with rear hinged doors was, is and, perhaps, will always be the collection and removal of construction waste - it couldn’t be more convenient. In winter, vehicles with containers are also used for snow removal.

The combination of transport and lifting equipment in a car with a hook loader creates ample opportunities for creating various “semi-stationary” bodies, or superstructures on universal subframes: I arrived, unloaded the superstructure and, while it is being assembled, transported and assembled several more. Or today you remove snow, tomorrow you scatter deicing agents, the day after tomorrow you collect and transport liquid household waste - and all this on one car, only the add-ons are different. This concept is beautifully named “modular transport”, in which hook loaders play a key role.

Multilifts are used both on a vehicle chassis for loading large-sized bunkers, and as part of more complex mechanisms - garbage trucks with swap bodies, airfield and military equipment. The design of the multilift allows its dimensions to be varied over a wide range and installed on any chassis, either alone or in combination with other equipment. Using a multi-lift, you can place the bunker on a trailer; a car with a multi-lift and the appropriate body can work as a dump truck. Unlike a cable hook grip, a hook grip is safer - there is no danger of the cable breaking. It also benefits in the speed of loading operations, it is easier to operate, but is significantly heavier and takes up part of the useful volume.

Device

Structurally, the hook multi-lift system is an L-shaped frame, on the short arm of which there is a hook. With its help, a replacement body located on the ground or a trailer is grabbed by the eye located at its end end and dragged onto the vehicle.

KamAZ trucks with the multi-leaf system have several modifications:

  • MPR-1 (MPR-14P.45). System with a lifting capacity of 14 tons with a fixed length frame and a rotating hook beam driven by a hydraulic cylinder and mounted on hinges.
  • MPR-2 (MPR-18T.52). Unlike the previous one, the frame became telescopic, which made it possible to increase its length and use larger bodies. Load capacity – 18 tons.
  • MPR-3 (MPR-20P.58). A 20-ton mechanism in which the frame is made folding.

Hyva manipulators use a telescopic frame. The company supplies its equipment for installation on a 4-axle KAMAZ chassis and has a load capacity of 26 tons.

Why is the demand for multilifts growing?

The trend of increasing attention to environmental problems, observed throughout the world, leads, in particular in our country, to the closure of landfills that are authorized by local authorities, but not equipped in accordance with sanitary standards and rules, where industrial and household waste is disposed. As a result, flows of consumer and industrial waste are redirected to landfills that meet the requirements of sanitary and epidemiological supervision, waste incineration enterprises, and processing plants. And since new burial and disposal sites are sometimes located 30–90 km from residential areas, garbage trucks, as a rule, have to travel much longer distances than previously required to get to local landfills.

With the permanent increase in the cost of fuel and consumables, it is certainly unprofitable to deliver waste using conventional low-capacity garbage trucks to remote disposal sites. Therefore, increasingly, garbage trucks collect solid waste in residential areas and unload it at intermediate waste transfer stations. There, the waste is compacted, its volume is reduced, the waste in compact form is loaded into containers with a volume of 20 to 60 m3 and transported to landfills.

It is obvious that the production of transfer stations is promising. Numerous domestic manufacturers successfully sell their products on the Russian market. These are enterprises such as Techuniversal from St. Petersburg, Moscow Pressor, Netmus and many others. The products of leading European companies, mainly German: PRESTO, CRS Group, Husmann Umwelt-Technik are also in demand on the market.

In addition to large-scale waste transfer stations, the same enterprises produce compact press containers of various capacities and dimensions, allowing enterprises and utilities to perform primary waste processing and thereby significantly save on the costs of organizing waste collection and removal.

But all optimized waste removal technologies necessarily include transportation of containers with compressed waste to disposal sites. Currently, the most effective is the use of truck chassis technology in this part, working with interchangeable bodies. To do this, the chassis must be equipped with hook or cable loaders, which are also often called multilifts.

The difference between the two main designs of multilifts is that in hook loaders, unloading and loading is carried out using a movable L-shaped lever, one end of which is mounted on an axle fixed to the loading platform, due to which the lever can rotate, and the other end of the L-shaped a cargo hook is welded to the structure. The hook hooks the container onto a special bracket and pulls it along the rollers onto the subframe. Powerful hydraulic locks installed on the subframe secure the container during transportation.

The second design, the cable design, differs in that the working parts in it are winches and cables, and not a mechanical L-shaped lever. Cable lifts have a more complex and therefore less reliable design; they are characterized by increased wear of the main working components. Cable lifts are used less and less today, but the demand for trucks with hook systems is constantly growing, and this is natural. Let's talk about them.

Specifications

The loading and unloading system used determines the chassis that is suitable for use with this particular modification of the multilift. Shortened chassis are suitable for MPR-1, in particular, 2-axle 43253, short versions of chassis 65115.

MPR-2 allows the use of longer vehicles, for example, chassis 65115-1095, providing the use of longer swap bodies with greater load capacity.

Based on the 6520 chassis, it is used to install multilifts produced by Velmash and Hyva. The maximum lifting capacity is 20 tons.

The four-axle KAMAZ 65201 chassis is used for use with the Hyva lifting system itself. It allows the use of the most capacious bodies with a maximum cargo weight of up to 26 tons.

Price and analogues

Prices for a hook lift installed on the basis of a 2-axle KAMAZ-53605 chassis start at 4 million 700 thousand rubles. (2-axle chassis) up to 6 million 170 thousand rubles (3-axle chassis) and up to 7 million 300 thousand rubles (4-axle chassis).

The cost of renting a car with a multi-lift ranges from 780 to 1000 rubles per hour (with driver).

It is possible to rent a KAMAZ truck with a multi-lift loading and unloading system for a month. In this case, the rental price will start from 60 thousand rubles per month without a driver and from 140 thousand rubles per month with a driver. The duration of a work shift for a monthly rental is 7 hours plus 1 hour of car delivery.

The cost of one-time removal of a garbage container in Moscow is:

  • 8 cubic meters - from 4300 to 5500 rubles;
  • 15 cubic meters - from 9900 to 11000 rubles;
  • 20 cubic meters - from 10,300 to 11,500 rubles;
  • 27 cubic meters - from 10,600 to 12,500 rubles.

A more exact price depends on the location from which the dumpster needs to be removed.

Are our multilifts no worse?

Today our industry produces multilifts of fairly high quality, which use components from the best European companies and consumables from the world's best manufacturers. At the same time, the cost of domestic developments is, as a rule, lower than similar foreign ones, and the buyer can really get confused: what should he choose?

Here is the enterprise "VELMASH-S" from the Pskov region, which is part of, according to the management, produces the best lifting equipment in Russia, and the company plans to work not only on the domestic, but also on the international market, since "VELMASH" already today offers modern hydraulic lifting equipment of excellent quality.

"VELMASH" produces 5 models of hook loaders of the MPR series with a capacity from 5 to 20 tons. "VELMASH" installations are installed on domestic and foreign chassis. One vehicle with an MPR installation can be used with a wide variety of interchangeable bodies: containers, cargo platforms, cabins, tanks, etc. Therefore, tractors with MPR hook loaders are well known not only to employees of utility companies or road construction organizations - they are purchased by the technical services of enterprises oil and gas complex, timber companies, they are also used in agriculture.

At the STT-2015 exhibition, Lifting Machines demonstrated the Palfinger PH T20 Pi hook loader with a lifting capacity of 20 tons. This loader was manufactured according to the original drawings of the Palfinger concern, but all the design parts were made in Russia. And today, the company’s management is actively working on the production of a series of Palfinger hook lifts, assembled from domestically produced parts. It is planned that the new model range will cover loaders with a capacity from 10 to 30 tons.

The Ryazhsky Automobile Repair Plant has been producing municipal equipment for more than 20 years. The plant has mastered the production of cable and hook type multi-lifts. Two developments of the enterprise are used as a hook loader: a multi-lift with a hook lift capacity of 12.9 tons and a recent development by RARZ designers - a multi-lift with a lift capacity of 20 tons. Despite the difficult economic situation of the enterprise, customers are offered more than a dozen models of tractors with RARZ hook systems , chassis of various modifications of KamAZ, MAZ, Ford Cargo can be used as base ones.

Mtsensky also offers ready-made multi-lift systems assembled from the chassis. In terms of technical equipment, the Mtsensk plant is one of the most advanced in Russia; the enterprise produces high-quality and competitive equipment. Hook installations use high-quality hydraulics, eliminating the possibility of hydraulic hose ruptures and oil leakage at joints. Parts operating in an aggressive environment are pre-galvanized or chrome-plated; before assembly, components and parts in contact with the external environment are coated with durable enamels.

Buyers are offered three models of multilifts. The KO-452 multi-lift garbage truck based on the MAZ-5340V2 works with replaceable containers, the weight of which together with garbage can reach 9.2–9.9 tons. Another garbage truck, KO-452-13, based on the KamAZ-65115 chassis, is designed for loading and unloading containers with a total weight of up to 11.9 tons using a hook system. But the most powerful is the KO-452-12 model. The Hyundai HD 260 chassis is equipped with a multi-lift, which allows lifting/lowering open and closed containers with a capacity of 30–35 m3 and a total weight of up to 16.1 tons.

The multilift market is quite saturated with offers; the article presents only a small part of its participants. Thus, many Chinese manufacturers of hook systems would like to “expand” in Russia. Changes in the exchange rate significantly weaken the position of companies that traditionally supply multilifts to Russia, and this is another chance for our machine builders. Do they use it?
