FROM THE HISTORY OF THE ENTERPRISE
In 1959, the construction of the Mechanical Repair Plant No. 2 of the USSR Ministry of Montazhspetsstroy began in Ulyanovsk. In 1961, the first overhauled truck cranes left the factory gates. In parallel with the repair of truck cranes, the plant mastered the production of lattice booms for crawler cranes of the MKG series, produced at other plants of the USSR Ministry of Montazhspetsstroy. I, as an operator purchasing lifting mechanisms, am interested in the availability of price indicators for domestic products, not only in terms of price-quality ratio, but also in terms of safety and comfort. If a foreign manufacturer offers the buyer lifting mechanisms for 10 - 20% of payment from its full cost, and for the rest gives installments from 5 to 7 years at 2 - 4% per annum, then no local pseudo-patriotism will force entrepreneurs to act to the detriment of their economic interests.
The most Russian truck crane is Ulyanovets. A crane for the Russian market simply must be as simple in design as possible. From this postulate it follows that it must be reliable (the simpler the design, the more reliable it is), and therefore a minimum of electronics (although if the consumer wants, the faucet will be stuffed with electronic systems).
No electro-hydraulic control systems for crane operations (in common parlance - joysticks - only levers, although the latest versions began to be equipped with a smooth control system - joysticks). And the climatic features of our country do not contribute to the reliable operation of all kinds of electronic devices. The combination of simplicity and reliability of the crane is ensured by 100% quality control. The crane must be indestructible (even with a low qualification of the crane operator, in such cases they say: “The crane is designed for a fool”). Highly maintainable (again, this follows from the simplicity of the design).
Ulyanovsk cranes are equipped with “out-of-date” box-section booms and winches with spur gears, used not only on early models, but also on new models - 40- and 50-ton trucks. Regarding booms, engineers from Ulyanovsk Mechanical Plant No. 2 presented convincing arguments, confirmed by computer calculations, in favor of box-section booms: humanity has not yet come up with anything stronger for bending and torsion loads than a box-shaped boom. The main advantages of arrows with a bent profile are significantly lower manufacturing complexity and lower weight. Reducing labor intensity at UMP No. 2 is achieved by optimizing work processes, as well as through high production volumes and maximum use of its components. Reducing the weight of the booms is achieved by using high-strength steel Domex 700. Winches with spur gears are used exclusively for reasons of extreme structural reliability and low cost. No planetary winches. With all this, the hydraulics, seals, hydraulic valves and PTO are only imported - Italian, Finnish and German. Again for reasons of reliability.
Currently, the plant produces 3 main standard sizes of truck cranes: MKT-25, MKT-40, MKT-50. Chassis - any suitable one: KamAZ, MAZ, Ural, Volvo, Ford and Iveco. The main ones are, of course, the 25-ton MKT-25. The demand for them is now greatest; used construction cranes

Features of operation
A few words about the driving performance of the car. “Ulyanovets 25 tons” is mounted on a KamAZ 65115 chassis with a 6x4 wheel arrangement. This is not the most optimal indicator for high traffic, but in general it does not affect the wide range of applications of the crane.
The user of the unit can be confident in the durability of the chassis. Here, for the first time, ten-pin fastening of the wheel rim to the hubs was implemented. In practice, we have already seen that this eliminates a number of problems. For example, destruction of wheel bearings or steering rod joints, which reduces driving efficiency.
MKT 25 Ulyanovets is equipped with a mechanism that calculates the risk of the crane overturning or overloading. This is relevant when, during operation, the rotation of the boom is hampered by nearby objects. If there is a possibility of overload, the system will instantly react, give a sound and light signal to the operator, and also block the control.
