Minibuses have long been firmly established in our lives. They transport enterprise employees, children from small villages to settlements where there are schools, and, of course, work on regular city, suburban and intercity routes. But large factories that produce basic chassis (for example, GAZ) are not flexible, they are not able to adapt to all the needs of a particular client - mass production technology does not allow this. Then relatively small enterprises come into play - such as the Nizhny Novgorod company PKF Luidor. Luidor 225000 buses continue to gain popularity among carriers. There are more and more of these machines, and the geography of their operation is incredibly wide - this is, in fact, the entire territory of Russia.
As you know, the GAZ plant already has its own minibus in its range, built on the chassis of the well-deserved Gazelle Next. It has an index of 3221. But over the years of production, people operating these machines have had two serious complaints:
- the sliding door is suitable for a van or ambulance.” But it is inconvenient in city conditions, as it often breaks down. But opening and closing it is very difficult for passengers. Especially in a crowded cabin.
- The ceiling is too low, which creates inconvenience for those moving to their place. Even a person of average height has to bend down a lot to avoid hitting his head on the ceiling.
Luidor buses conquer Russian roads
The Luidor company was able to correct these shortcomings, while keeping the retail price low - it is not much higher than that, which means for the client a quick return on his investment.
Luidor has been building 225,000 for years - a bus, photos of whose characteristics are found in abundance on the Internet.
Description of the car
The Gazelle Business chassis is used for construction. This is the most popular car in the entire post-Soviet space. Gazelles are also found abroad - for example, in Turkey and Poland. Spare parts for Business are available everywhere, and they are inexpensive.
The roof is completely new, high. This allows even tall people to experience a minimum of problems inside, compared to the standard Gazelle. Instead of a sliding door, Luidora installs its own swing door. It has a much smaller width, which makes it easy to open and close such a “wicket” both from the inside and outside. There is no need to clap several times.
The cabin is equipped with comfortable chairs. Each of them has an anatomical shape, is equipped with a high back and headrest, as well as a three-point (on the first three seats) or two-point seat belt.
There is no external step on the outside (unlike the factory van).
This is done intentionally so that the driver can drive close to the curb without fear of damaging this step. And for convenient entry, there are steps already in the salon, much lower than the general floor level.
To maintain a comfortable microclimate, a filter-ventilation unit, two sliding windows, and a separate cabin heater are provided.
The cabin is designed for maximum passenger comfort
The roof has a transparent tinted hatch, which in an emergency plays the role of an emergency exit. The second exit is located at the rear; the interior layout is specially designed so as not to impede access to it. There are yellow handrails throughout. In addition to the ceiling lighting of the interior, the designers also installed separate lamps at the steps so that a person entering or exiting could see where they were stepping and would not be injured.
Specifications
Buses have the following characteristics:
- external dimensions of the machine – 570x238x286 cm;
- internal dimensions of the passenger compartment: 310x183x188.5 cm. At the same time, the height is 38.5 cm more than that of a standard Gazelle;
- number of seats - 14 for passengers and 1 for the driver. Transporting people while standing is not allowed by the manufacturer;
- A UMZ 4216 gasoline injection engine is installed under the hood. With a displacement of 2.9 liters, it produces a maximum power of 107 hp. at 4000 rpm;
- fuel consumption – 10.5 liters per “hundred” at 60 km/h, 13 liters per 100 km – at a speed of 80 km/h.
In general, the technical characteristics of the Luidor 225000 do not differ very significantly from the base Gazelle, because the changes affected mainly the interior.
And it is distributed by official dealers located in cities such as Cheboksary, Vladimir, Saransk, Kazan, Moscow, as well as in the Moscow region. The minibus has been produced since 1994.

Conversion of the PKF "Luidor" minibus into a passenger bus
Price of work - 2,553,718 ₽
The conversion of a minibus produced by PKF Luidor into a luxury passenger minibus was carried out because the finishing and equipment of the vehicle did not satisfy the customer’s requirements. When converting the van, the interior layout was changed in order to reduce the passenger capacity of the vehicle and provide the ability to transport luggage in a dedicated cargo compartment.
In addition to changing the layout, when re-equipping the minibus, at the request of the customer, special glazing of the passenger compartment with double-glazed windows with an expanded light opening was installed. Such double-glazed windows provide higher thermal insulation and sound insulation, and are also not covered with ice in cold weather. By enlarging the window openings, work was done to compensate for the rigidity of the car body, which it lost when cutting out some of the power elements.

To increase the useful volume of the cargo compartment, an additional box was made in its floor, between the side members, in the place of the standard mounting of the spare wheel. Since its installation is associated with a significant weakening of the power structure of the rear overhang of the body, a special system of reinforcements was manufactured, connected to the partition and unaffected parts of the supporting structure of the body of the converted car.
When converting the minibus, the following work was performed:
- Panoramic double-glazed windows with increased light openings were installed.
- The walls and ceiling of the passenger compartment are thermally insulated with sprayed PVC.
- A podium with LED illumination of the passage was made.
- A specially made cabinet is installed under the rear row of seats.
- Installing side cards.
- Window openings, side trim panels, as well as the partition and seats are trimmed with high-quality genuine Nappa Yaguar Brogue leather.
- Production of a ceiling with luggage racks and individual wiring of the air conditioning and lighting systems.
- Installation of a WEBASTO 4 kW heater with air ducts in the left podium.
- Installation of WEBASTO engine preheater.
- Seats (leather, folding, mesh, armrest, handle, retractable mechanism into the aisle, color to choose from) 13 seats.
- Installation of the WAECO CoolFreeze CFX-40 car refrigerator with a useful volume of 38 liters.

Additional Information
The Luidor 225000 model differs from other versions of minibuses in that it does not have an external step in its structure, which does not increase the overall dimensions of the vehicle and allows you to drive close to stops. The function of such a step is played by the lowered threshold of the swing door. All parts in the minibus interior are made of durable plastic. The interior trim (ceiling, side elements, and under the windows) is made of aluminum panels, which are covered with a special fabric.
The minibus is equipped with anatomical passenger seats upholstered in durable dark fabric. The seats are equipped with seat belts:
- on the first passenger seats - three-point (shoulder and lap belts);
- the rest have a two-point safety belt with an inertial locking mechanism.
"Gazelle Luidor 225000" is equipped with a first aid kit, an emergency exit hammer and a fire extinguisher. This set allows you to secure the movement of the car and, in the event of an accident, quickly get out of the car, as well as provide first aid.
The cost of a minibus is from 500 thousand rubles, depending on the selected configuration.
The Luidor 225000 minibus has been gaining increasing popularity among Russians in the last year. The technical characteristics of the Luidor 225000 bus are also quite interesting for the consumer.
Yubileiny: Luidor plant
The cooperation of Mercedes-Benz RUS CJSC with PKF Luidor LLC has reached a new level, having passed a psychologically important mark. At the beginning of March, the assembly shop of the production complex in Balakhna (Nizhny Novgorod region) left the ten thousandth small class bus based on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
Mikhail Ozherelev
The honorary title of the ten-thousandth vehicle went to a minibus based on the Russian-assembled Sprinter Classic. The management of Mercedes-Benz RUS CJSC considers this solemn event the best response to the current economic situation. “This is clear evidence of our interest and intentions to work in the Russian automotive market,” said Soren Heze, Vice President for Light Vehicles at Mercedes-Benz RUS CJSC. — We have extensive plans for 2015, which will be adjusted depending on the economic situation. We make every effort to satisfy all market needs and customer desires.”

The basic Sprinter Classic van at Luidora adds comfortable seats for passengers, handrails, athermal glazing and additional heating
Cooperation between Mercedes-Benz RUS and PKF Luidor began in 2010. The Nizhny Novgorod company has passed certification and received official approval from Daimler AG, becoming the first official body manufacturer of the Mercedes-Benz brand working under general contracting in Russia. According to the agreement, it provided all the necessary technical documentation for the converted models, work standards for the concern’s suppliers and a quality management system were jointly introduced, and personnel were trained. For its part, PKF Luidor has built a new production infrastructure with a logistics hub.
The production of the ten thousandth Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus coincided with the three-year opening date of the first stage of the Balakhninsky production complex, which took place on March 1, 2012. Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Valery Shantsev, who was present at the ceremony, noted that in three years the Balakhninsky production complex of PKF Luidor has become a serious industrial enterprise with localized production of components, which allowed the company to become a leader in the production of small class buses and special vehicles in Russia.
All passenger seats are locally produced
Today, the Luidora production site in Balakhna has more than 10 thousand m2 of production and warehouse space and more than a thousand warehouse parking spaces. The company employs about 400 highly qualified employees. Under the roof of the first building, which is approximately 3300 m2, there are 10 assembly and 5 preparatory stations, areas for auxiliary production and installation of additional equipment. The second building with an area of 3200 m2 is allocated for automotive components production. Machine tools and equipment for turning, laser cutting of metal, welding, manufacturing of supports, amplifiers, handrails and passenger seats are installed here. A point of particular pride is the powder coating line, which meets the most stringent environmental standards. High-performance equipment allows us not only to service the internal production program, but also to fulfill third-party orders.
The auto components production workshop has been operating in Balakhna since 2012.
At the site in Balakhna, retrofitted Mercedes-Benz models are mainly produced, although PKF Luidor also works with other automakers (3 brands in total). Moreover, the main volume of output falls on the conversion of Sprinter Classic vans, serial production of which started at the Gorky Automobile Plant in September 2013. By the way, in 2014, GAZ assembled more than 6.5 thousand Sprinter Classic cars.
The car for conversion comes in a basic configuration: with a high roof, a 109-horsepower OM646 diesel engine, a 5-speed manual transmission adapted to the needs of the light-duty segment, a driver airbag and a set of the latest generation active safety systems - ABS, ASR, ESP. This car does not include comfortable passenger seats with two-/three-point seat belts, roof rails, thermal glazing and additional heating. By the way, suppliers of components for Louis-Dore buses are both foreign and domestic manufacturers. For example, electrical wiring harnesses, fabrics, and plastic trim elements are made in Russia, while heating and air conditioning systems are imported.
One of the new projects is a mobile cafe
Today, PKF Luidor produces a line of buses based on the Russian Sprinter Classic and the new Sprinter. The Sprinter Classic car allows you to build many models on its basis: three bus options - Corporate bus (16+1) and two minibuses (17+1, 20+1), as well as the cargo-passenger Sprinter Classic Mixto. Based on the new Sprinter, PKF Luidor, under general contract, produces several versions of a tourist bus (19+1) and a minibus (19 seats and up to 9 standing ones).
A special place in the program is occupied by the production of emergency medical vehicles. On the basis of the new Sprinter, class A, B and C ambulances are produced (regular resuscitation and neonatal resuscitation), and on the basis of the Sprinter Classic - class C cars. A Russian-assembled ambulance is cheaper than its German “brother”, while maintaining all the technical characteristics of the base car.
Mercedes-Benz RUS provided technical documentation for the converted models, together with Luidor, standards for the work of the concern's suppliers and a quality management system were introduced
CJSC Mercedes-Benz RUS intends to further develop partnerships and expand the range of converted vehicles. For example, one of Luidora’s new projects, a mobile cafe, is also implemented on the basis of Sprinter Classic.

Use of Luidor bus 225000
The bus for transporting passengers is quite popular throughout the Russian Federation. The attractiveness of this transport lies in its low cost, and it is very convenient for route transportation of passengers.
Often, when boarding, you have to jump into a minibus from the sidewalk; this manipulation is especially difficult for older people. The Luidor 225000 minibus does not have an external step - this is the main distinguishing feature of this vehicle. This design development allows the car to park close to the curb at bus stops.
The bus can be used not only as a passenger taxi, but also for other purposes:
- The presence of comfortable passenger seats will allow the Luidor to be used for intercity transportation or for travel on suburban routes.
- The presence of an air conditioning system will provide additional convenience for passengers.
- The minibus can also be used for excursion or tourist trips around the city.
- A wide panoramic view, soft and wide seats with comfortable backs and armrests will allow you to enjoy the beauty of city landscapes or nature in comfortable conditions.
