About the manufacturer
JSC Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant develops and produces for its customers special vehicles for transporting heavy loads on public roads and in difficult terrain - automobile tractors under the Volat brand. MZKT is capable of producing special equipment according to individual technical specifications of clients, from one to several hundred units. The company's slogan reads: Technology that knows no barriers! Volat trucks, which are the heirs of Soviet missile-carrying tractors, have excellent driving performance and can operate in absolute off-road conditions and the harshest climatic conditions.
The total number of employees of the enterprise at this time is more than 5 thousand people. Its structure includes 10 production workshops and 3 auxiliary workshops. The enterprise is state-owned, all 100% of its shares belong to the Republic of Belarus.
MZKT traces its history back to 1954, when, by decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR, SKB-1 was founded at the Minsk Automobile Plant - a special design bureau for the development of multi-axle off-road trucks for the needs of the USSR Ministry of Defense.
During the 1950-1980s, this design bureau created many multi-axle chassis for special purposes - for transporting tanks and other heavy equipment, Pioneer, Topol and Topol-M missile systems, S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems, and also for special airfield fire trucks.
In 1991, on the basis of this production of special-purpose wheeled vehicles for the Soviet army, the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant was created. Then the development, development and production of civilian trucks on the basis of military chassis began: multi-axle tractors, dump trucks, chassis for cranes and other special equipment, which received its own brand “Volat”.
The company develops and produces cargo vehicles with wheel arrangements 4 × 4, 6 × 4, 6 × 6, 8 × 4, 8 × 8, 10 × 4, 1О × 6, 1О × 8, 1О × 1О, 12 × 12, 16 × 16: chassis for installing special equipment for the development and maintenance of oil and gas fields; crane equipment with a lifting capacity of up to 160 tons; truck tractors and road trains with a carrying capacity of up to 130 tons; ballast tractors for transporting cargo up to 400 tons; trailers and semi-trailers with a carrying capacity of up to 75 tons; dump trucks with a lifting capacity of up to 45 tons; chassis for mounting a wide variety of special equipment.
MZKT chassis continue to be widely used as part of a variety of weapons and military equipment. The Russian army uses more than sixty types of weapons mounted on MZKT chassis and tractors.
Almost all of the company’s products are exported to the Russian Federation (95 percent). However, MZKT is developing connections in the international market. In China, the joint venture assembles military tractors from MZKT vehicle kits; the plant's vehicles were supplied to Turkey, the UAE, Egypt and some other countries.
Armored "Volat"
Back in the early 2000s, most special units in Belarus either did not have light armored vehicles or used Soviet BTR-80s.
For modern purposes and tasks of the Belarusian special forces, armored personnel carriers had excess power, as well as low maintainability. The first light armored vehicles in 2006 in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus were three Russian Tiger vehicles. Since 2014, the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant (MZKT) began licensed assembly of Tigers. In 2015, the assembled vehicles were modified for the Ministry of Defense of Belarus as part of the Lis-PM development work (R&D). As a result, it was the Foxes that were the first to replace the BTR-80 in the internal troops. In the same 2014, on behalf of the President of the Republic of Belarus, completely new R&D “V-1” began at MZKT to develop a completely Belarusian armored car.
From sketch to model
Around the same time, the author of this article was lucky enough to see a preliminary drawing of the V-1 project, presented for review to representatives of special forces. Back then, I was skeptical about the future of this concept, not believing that such an attractive and ambitious project could come to life. Moreover, it was difficult to imagine that such an armored car would be adopted and I would have the opportunity to see in practice the wisdom of the decisions made in 2014.
Draft design of V-1 mzkt.by
Engineers from the Minsk Wheeled Tractor Plant under the leadership of Yuri Ivanovich Nikolaev, who had many years of experience in creating off-road military wheeled vehicles, took on the difficult task of developing an armored vehicle from scratch. The first prototype, named MZKT-490100, had an automatic transmission MZKT-2361, a single-stage transfer case MZKT-4901 and a YaMZ-5345 engine. It was first demonstrated in Paris at the international defense and security exhibition Eurosatory-2016.

By 2022, the armored car has undergone minor changes compared to the prototype. The main metamorphoses affected the design of the rear door: instead of a lowering ramp, it is now a regular hinged door without a spare wheel mount. MZKT-490100-010 weighing more than 10 tons and carrying capacity over 1 ton is capable of transporting a crew of ten people. Diesel engine with 240 hp power. capable of accelerating the Volat to 110 km/h. Two fuel tanks of 130 liters each give the car a power reserve of 1000 km. The all-metal welded armored body of the Br4 class reliably protects the vehicle crew from damage from small arms.
The basic version of a lightly armored vehicle (LAV) included a whole range of additional equipment: navigation; filter-ventilation unit; preheater-heater; autonomous two-zone heating system and air conditioning system for the habitable compartment; smoke removal system; energy-absorbing troop compartment seats; radial pressure limiters for driving on damaged tires; central tire inflation system; self-pulling winch; increased capacity battery; engine starting system with discharged batteries; electrically heated front windshield and side armored glass; rear view mirrors.

Military armored car of the Minsk SOBR
The new LBA was developed primarily in the interests of the Ministry of Defense and in 2022, having successfully passed state tests, it was adopted by the Belarusian army. Based on the basic configuration, MZKT has developed a whole range of vehicles for various purposes. The first in this family was the MZKT-490100-011, on the roof of which a machine gun-grenade launcher module for the shooter is mounted with the possibility of simultaneously installing a PKM type machine gun and an AG-17 type grenade launcher. The standard ammunition for the crew of an army vehicle consists of 20 defensive (F-1) and offensive (RGD-5) hand grenades, a box with TNT blocks weighing 32 kg, as well as 3240 rounds of 5.45 mm caliber or 2640 rounds of 7.62 mm caliber.
MZKT-490100-011 vpk.gov.by
The new basic version of the armored vehicle was tested in other security forces of Belarus, such as internal troops and border guards. Soon, MZKT engineers, together with specialists from the Main Directorate of the Commander of Internal Troops, with the direct participation of representatives of the Minsk SOBR, began finalizing the LBA in the interests of police special forces. This is how MZKT-490100-017 appeared, which was openly demonstrated for the first time at the international military-technical forum “Army-2017” in Kubinka near Moscow.
The new vehicle for SOBR has undergone significant changes in comparison with its older brother. To begin with, a combat functional module (CFM) was installed on the roof of the Volat, rotating 360 degrees and similar to that on the Lis-PM. To make the module lighter, the design has a cutout in the rear wall. At the same time, the machine gunner’s back is reliably covered during firing by the hatch in the tilted position. As the main armament, the BFM chose the powerful large-caliber infantry machine gun NSV-12.7, mounted on a UPM-160 bed. In the cabin, near the crew commander's seat, internal and external communication equipment PU-2 developed by Agat-System OJSC is installed.

Since for SOBR this is primarily an assault vehicle, the number of loopholes for the troop compartment has increased. Two additional loopholes appeared on each side, and now each crew member could fire small arms without leaving the interior of the armored car. For more convenient shooting, the loopholes on the rear door were moved higher and installed in armored glass blocks. In addition, unlike the basic version, loopholes of increased diameter are installed here (from 98 to 116 mm).
The car can also be used in direct proximity to the target of the assault. For this purpose, the front side doors have additional folding armor protection sheets designed to protect special forces soldiers when operating on foot from possible fire damage. In the same doors, at a height of 1.5 m from the ground, additional loopholes for firing are installed. To allow troops to overcome various obstacles and storm the first floors of buildings, the hood has a removable platform equipped with anti-slip elements and a folding cantilever double-leaf section, which can be fixed in a vertical position, providing additional protection for the crew. In this maximum active assault state, “Volat” resembles the Belarusian version of the world famous transformers.

Side folding steps are designed to accommodate fighters while the vehicle is moving in readiness for an assault. For this purpose, there is an additional handrail on the body near the rear side door, and the upper handrail has an elongated design. An additional ladder is also installed on the rear wall.
MZKT-490100-017 successfully passed tests and was adopted by the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus. The first two vehicles arrived at the Minsk SOBR in December 2022 and immediately began 24-hour combat duty.

The above changes, made in the interests of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, were also accepted by the State Border Committee of Belarus, although the border guards decided to abandon the automatic transmission. Thus, MZKT-490100-117 has a SAAZ-4334MZ mechanical transmission, a two-stage MZKT-5002 transfer case and a YaMZ-5345-20 engine. The PKM machine gun became the main armament of the BFM; flashing lights and additional LED headlights appeared on the roof above the windshield.
Special purpose vehicles
Like any universal platform, the MZKT-490100 became the founder of a whole family of special-purpose vehicles, such as reconnaissance, medical, communications and electronic warfare vehicles and many others. One of the first in this series was the MZKT-490100-015 reconnaissance and fire module with the Adunok complex developed by AGAT - Control Systems OJSC. This vehicle is designed to conduct special and reconnaissance operations, combat illegal armed groups and enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups, escort convoys, protect rear areas, perform commandant service and participate in peacekeeping operations.
In addition to an automated remote-controlled observation fire system with a 12.7-mm machine gun or a 30-mm automatic grenade launcher, the armored vehicle has communications and situational data exchange facilities (4G/LTE), reconnaissance equipment (Berkut tactical unmanned aerial system), and an optoelectronic device observations. The standard compartment of the vehicle is 6-8 people with individual and group weapons and equipment. The complex also has six launchers for deploying smoke screens of the “Cloud” type.
By 2022, the reconnaissance complex had undergone significant changes and received the name BRDM-4B. Most likely, this is due to the refinement of the complex in the interests of the Ministry of Defense of Belarus. This version is also supported by the official system index that has appeared - 1A038-1. For the first time, the modernized version was demonstrated to the general public at the Milex-2019 exhibition. The vehicle “lost” its firing module, but significantly improved its reconnaissance module. Now the BRDM can conduct optoelectronic (infrared and television) ground (to a depth of up to 6 km) and air (to a depth of up to 40 km) reconnaissance, electronic reconnaissance of VHF radio equipment (to a depth of up to 30 km), radar (to a depth of up to 18 km) and seismic (to a depth of 40 km) exploration. In addition, the vehicle can provide processing of reconnaissance information, radio communications at a range of 30 km while moving and 350 km when parked, and transmit data and navigation.

Beltech Optronics private enterprise presented its version of the Rubon reconnaissance vehicle on the MZKT-490100-018 chassis, also for the first time at the Milex-2019 exhibition. "Volat" again acquired a remote firing module - this time DBM-T12.7, developed jointly with the Russian OJSC "Special Design Bureau of Instrument Engineering and Automation" (city of Kovrov). The module can be armed with 12.7 mm Kord or NSV machine guns with horizontal aiming angles of 360 degrees and vertical aiming angles from −20 to +70 degrees. The detection range of a tank-type target is 8.5 km during the day and 5.5 km at night, and the recognition range is 5.5 and 3.5 km, respectively. "Rubon" is capable of hitting automatically escorted unmanned aerial vehicles, fire and vehicles both day and night, both from the spot and on the move.

Nowadays, the Groza-S electronic warfare station against unmanned aerial vehicles on the MZKT-490100-014 chassis (developed by KB Radar OJSC) is no less relevant. "Groza-S" is capable of detecting UAVs by emissions from radio control lines of the devices, suppressing data transmission lines, and generating misleading interference to on-board navigation equipment. In other words, such an electronic warfare station can land a drone, depriving it of a communication channel, or take control of it. The radio jamming range of the UAV receiver is up to 30 km, and the ground control point is up to 10 km. Interference with GPS channel control (or GLONASS, GALILEO, BeiDou) can occur at a distance of up to 40 km.

One of the latest developments in the field of communications and telecommunications for the military is the combined radio station R-186 “Bogatyr-2” on the MZKT-490100-019 chassis. It is intended for organizing communications during various types of combat, performing peacetime tasks and eliminating emergency situations at various levels of management. This “Bogatyr” is capable of organizing open and secret telephone communications at a distance of up to 300 km. The complex includes Belarusian-made communication equipment: the Voskhod satellite communication system, VHF and HF radio stations, Xenon encryption equipment, automated workstations for the communications operator and command.

The most powerful weapon in the Volatov family is the Shershen-M ATGM on the MZKT-490100-016 chassis developed by the Minsk CNIP CJSC. To operate such a system, a vehicle crew of three people is sufficient. The ammunition load includes at least eight guided missiles in any of three caliber options: 107 mm RK-3 type, 130 mm RK-2 type or 152 mm RK-2M type. The warhead of the missiles is either high-explosive fragmentation or tandem cumulative. Such ammunition is capable of penetrating from 550 to 1100 mm of armor at a range of 2.5 to 8 km.

Of the yet unrealized plans of the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant, only the MZKT-490100-012 medical vehicle is known. Option number 13 still remains mysterious, although it may turn out that engineers are superstitious people too. I would like to believe that we will still see new representatives of the “heroic dynasty”. According to unverified information, the plant is working on modernizing the base model and the ancestor of the entire V-1 family. Perhaps the second generation of V-2 armored vehicles is just around the corner?

Technical description of the model and its modifications
The MZKT-65151 dump truck has been on the market for special cargo equipment since 2001. The Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant tried to react quickly during the period of increasing demand for massive four-axle trucks, developing its own heavy-duty model that can also travel on public roads.
For owners of heavy-duty trucks, a serious problem is the limit on the load on one axle - 13 tons, which is in force in Russia and the CIS countries. An increase in load capacity can be achieved by using an additional axle. The developers of MZKT-65151 managed to achieve a justified increase in curb weight and diesel fuel consumption for the new design. The result of work on the MZKT-692371 chassis was the MZKT-65151 model, which is capable of transporting up to 25 tons of cargo. However, the design of the machine does not allow for use with a trailer.
When driving on public roads, as well as on the streets of populated areas, the total load on the rear bogie should not exceed 26 tons. Taking into account the load on the first and second axles, the total weight of the truck is 41 tons. Minus the curb weight of the vehicle itself (about 16 tons), its carrying capacity is 25 tons.
At the same time, the volume of the cargo platform and specific application experience indicate that the MZKT-65151 is capable of “taking on board” much more than the 25 tons declared “according to the passport.” Based on the average density of bulk building materials (about 1.9 t/m3), it turns out that the load capacity of this machine is 38 tons. If you pour 25 tons of sand into the body, it will not be filled to the top, but only 2/3. The reliability of the hydraulic platform lifting system (the hydraulic valves of which allow for 35 tons in the body) and tires with a higher load-bearing capacity index make it possible to work with overload.
In addition to the 20 cc body, the consumer can order a cargo platform of smaller volumes: 16.5 m3 or 11.5 m3. Loading platforms can be equipped with a hydraulic tailgate lock. And to simplify the design and unload the cargo platform, a bucket-type body option without a tailgate can also be used.
By now, the MZKT-65151 truck is already an obsolete model that has been discontinued. In the line of the manufacturer, this car has been replaced by a more advanced one - MZKT 7501. But MZKT-65151, of course, continues to be used in Russia and the CIS, since their performance characteristics remain relevant.
Two modifications of this four-axle truck were produced: MZKT 65151-010 and MZKT 65151-020. Structurally, they are no different from each other. The only difference between them is the type of diesel engine used. MZKT 65151-010 were equipped with engines of the YaMZ-7511.10 type (400 horsepower), and MZKT 65151-020 were equipped with YaMZ-7512.10 power units (360 horsepower).
“Volat”, “Defender” and “Sekach”: unique military equipment from Belarus
Recently, one of the largest exhibitions in the military sphere, MILEX-2019, completed its work in Minsk. Of course, it is inferior to its largest analogues - the global Eurosatory in terms of representativeness, and our “Army” - in the number of exhibits. However, there were many unique specimens not shown anywhere else.
Anton Mikhailov
Yes, and in terms of scale, MILEX is quite serious - more than 170 participants from dozens of countries, including more than 40 leading scientific and industrial enterprises in Russia and Belarus (including the Almaz-Antey concern, Uralvagonzavod, MZKT, MAZ and others). In terms of the variety of exhibits, it was also not inferior to its competitors - the most advanced examples of modern systems were shown here, including fire weapons, systems for integrated counteraction to high-precision weapons, unmanned aerial systems and various combat information and reconnaissance systems.
The automotive part of the exhibition was also rich, at which completely different classes of vehicles made their debut - from the light reconnaissance buggies "Chaborz" to the world's largest road train for transporting armored vehicles "Volat". And in this part, as in many similar exhibitions, there was a certain complexity. The main component of military vehicles are superstructures, often classified. Therefore, it is not always possible to find out even their weight and size characteristics. As well as the nuances of the carrier vehicles - after all, potential customers, as a rule, are not interested in the brand and parts of the truck. Nevertheless, we managed to find out something.
The main player in the automotive part of Milex was, of course, the Belarusian MZKT, one of the world's leading manufacturers of military wheeled vehicles. Therefore, we will begin the review with its products offered under the Volat brand. The main novelty was a colossal road train consisting of an all-wheel drive tractor MZKT-741351 with a semi-trailer MZKT-999421 and a trailer MZKT-83721. This road train with a total length of 42 m is designed to transport up to three units of combat vehicles at once with a total weight of up to 136 tons. The unique three-link coupling is a further development of the MZKT-74135+999410+837210 road train.
The heaviest tank carrier in the world is the MZKT-741351 road train with tractor.
Behind the updated, armored cabin is a Caterpillar C18 turbodiesel engine with an output of 812 hp. With. It is equipped with an Allison M6620 AR automatic transmission with electronic control. The four-axle tractor is equipped with power steering, which has a main and backup system. The all-metal modular cabin is made in a new corporate design. It is sprung and quite spacious: it can comfortably accommodate 8 people, including the driver. The tractor is equipped with a double hydraulic drum winch, an on-board information system, automatic climate control, a refrigerator, pressure monitoring and central tire inflation systems, weapon mounts and a rotating sunroof with a machine gun holder.
The MZKT-999421 semi-trailer and the MZKT-83721 trailer included in the road train are equipped with a retractable loading platform, the width of which is adjustable from 3.65 to 4.65 m. The equipment can drive onto the semi-trailer through the trailer without disconnecting the coupling, which significantly saves loading time and requires less effort from the crew. And the choice of units is determined by the requirements of a specific customer; according to the requirements of the CIS armies, the vehicle can be equipped with domestic units.
A modified MZKT-500200 onboard vehicle was also presented, which is a representative of the family of standardized road-sized vehicles equipped with an innovative independent suspension. It differs from its predecessor in the updated cabin exterior. The family's chassis boasts high maneuverability and efficiency in ensuring the mobility of military, peacekeeping and rescue troops. As company representatives note, vehicles of the MZKT-6001 family are designed for transporting personnel, cargo, as well as for installing superstructures and equipment. In fact, this is a modern analogue of the well-known Soviet army GAZ-66.
MZKT-500200: the Belarusian analogue of the “shishiga” from MZKT has already been updated.
The Belarusians continue to develop their series of hull-mounted vehicles. Thus, the new body chassis MZKT-692250 with an 8x8 wheel arrangement, designed for installation and transportation of equipment for the Buk-MB air defense system, was presented at the exhibition area of OKB TSP. This chassis is a continuation of the family of well-known production vehicles with a 6x6 wheel arrangement. The carrying capacity of the new product, determined by the weight of the mounted equipment, is 17,300 kg, and the maximum speed is 60 km/h. Traction and dynamic performance is provided by an 8‑cylinder V-shaped diesel engine TMZ-8463.10 with a power of 500 hp. With. with a torque of 1960 Nm; six-speed hydromechanical transmission; two-speed transfer case and split axles. To increase the cross-country ability of the chassis, 16.00R20 tires with off-road tread are used, the axles are equipped with a system of center and wheel locking differentials, the ground clearance is 420 mm, and the front and rear overhang angles are 25°. The modernized system of the Buk-MB anti-aircraft missile system itself has been completely transferred to a new element base using digital and processor technologies; a completely new radar station with a phased antenna array has been developed, which increases the reconnaissance capabilities of the complex. A new optical-electronic target detection and tracking system has been installed, including a laser range finder, a thermal imager and an optical channel for target detection and tracking.
MZKT-692250: the Volat chassis became heavier and acquired a fourth axle.
Of course, other models from this manufacturer were also presented. After all, MZKT equipment is successfully used in completely different military areas of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation: strategic missile forces, ground forces, air defense forces, electronic intelligence, engineering troops and logistics services.
The exposition of the Minsk Automobile Plant was no less extensive. More than a dozen cars with the MAZ abbreviation on the grille were shown at the exhibition. As in the previous case, some of them were brought directly by the plant, while other machines were exhibited at the stands of manufacturers of final products. The main unit, of course, is the proven MAZ-6317 all-wheel drive chassis. The main difference from the civilian versions, in addition to the external ones, is the engine - a 330-horsepower YaMZ-238D2 with Euro-2 emissions level. A new 25-ton truck crane KC-55727-5-31B was installed at its base. It is manufactured at a subsidiary of the company, equipped with a hydraulic drive and a rigid telescopic boom. Thanks to the driving characteristics of the base chassis, the truck crane feels confident both on roads with improved surfaces and completely off-road. Safe work with discharge loads is ensured by double brakes of the load lifting mechanism, the boom reach change mechanism and the boom telescoping mechanism.
Minsk MZKT knows a lot not only about huge multi-axle vehicles, but also about light armored cars.
On the same chassis they showed a universal single-bucket excavator, manufactured by order of the military at the well-known Svyatovit enterprise. The excavator is based on the MAZ-631705 chassis. The maximum digging depth is 3.8 m, the digging height is 8.5 m.
The main news for the military itself was two vehicles manufactured by JSC 2566 Radio-Electronic Weapons Repair Plant. Together they make up the modern Osa anti-aircraft missile system: the modernized 9A33-2B combat vehicle and the 9T217-1B transport-loader. The main reason for modernizing the complex, popular in many countries, was the need to replace the discontinued BAZ chassis; it was replaced by the chassis of the Minsk Automobile Plant. It is clear that in this way repair problems have been eliminated, and the tactical and technical characteristics have also been improved. The creators note that the fuel consumption of the combat vehicle has decreased from 67 to 46 l/100 km.
The updated Osa anti-aircraft missile system at MAZ does not look elegant in a military way.
The rigging equipment of the transport-loading vehicle remained standard, and the wheeled chassis was also replaced with one manufactured by MAZ. In addition, the machine is equipped with a new crane. However, at the customer’s request, the complex can be installed on any suitable chassis of his choice.
MAZ "Uragan-M": until now, dual cabs on all-wheel drive MAZs could only be seen in fire departments.
But the most unusual product on the MAZ-6317 chassis was the armored car shown by OJSC “The 140th repair vehicle belongs to the MRAP class, therefore it has a V-shaped bottom, which effectively absorbs explosion energy. The disadvantage of this design is the increased height dimensions. The Defender is a direct competitor to the Russian three-axle vehicle Ural-4320VV, and it is no coincidence that it also has a hood arrangement - it increases the protection of the crew when hitting a mine. The cars are similar in other parameters: a total weight of 20 tons and a 400-horsepower YaMZ-7511 turbodiesel, coupled with a YaMZ-239 manual transmission. With a full load of 14 fighters, the maximum movement speed is up to 90 km/h.
The MAZ-6317 in the Defender armor can be identified externally only by the wheel hubs.
The well-designed Sosna-2 mobile radar is one of the many examples of the use of the MAZ-6317.
In general, there were a lot of different armored cars and MRAPs at the exhibition. This is understandable - modern conditions require increased security of the equipment used.
Perhaps the most unusual appearance is the new MRAP named “Sekach”, a prototype of a universal combat platform from the same “UKB TSP”. It seems that the donor units were MZKT products. Only the choice of engine is unusual - a boosted one up to 350 hp is installed here. With. “immortal” D-260 produced by MMZ. In addition, little is known about the new product: total weight is 17.5 tons, fuel capacity is 370 liters. Interestingly, the layout of the prototype resembles one of the first such cars, the South African Buffel of 1978.
It’s not for nothing that the new MRAP received the name “Sekach” - it looks similar.
It is worth mentioning another family of armored vehicles exhibited at Milex. They are called Asilak and are represented by . As the name suggests, the machines are designed for export. However, experts recognized the Buran shown two years ago as being Russian-made. These Tiger analogues are built on the GAZ Sadko chassis and are equipped with a YaMZ-534 diesel engine and a manual transmission. The curb weight of the vehicle is 8.8 tons, and the modular bodies have a protection level of 6A.
The unknown ASILAK is actually a deeply armored GAZ Sadko.
The remaining numerous exhibits of the exhibition were, of course, of interest to specialists, but had already been seen in displays at other similar events.

Engine MZKT-65151
At the very beginning of production, diesel power units from the Tutaevsky Motor Plant with a capacity of 410 horsepower were installed on MZKT 65151 dump trucks. Then we tried to switch to YaMZ-238D engines with a power of 330 horsepower. However, these motors noticeably “sagged”: their power turned out to be insufficient for such a dump truck. Therefore, subsequently it was decided to abandon them - in favor of YaMZ-7511.10 and YaMZ-7512.10 from the Yaroslavl Motor Plant.
These are the most powerful eight-cylinder engines of the Yaroslavl enterprise that meet Euro-2 environmental standards. These are V-shaped four-stroke diesel engines with liquid cooling, turbocharging with intermediate cooling of charge air in an air-to-air heat exchanger, mechanical speed control and direct fuel injection, specially designed for heavy duty trucks.
Their main technical parameters are as follows:
- working volume – 14.86 liters;
- rated power - 294 kW (400 hp) - YaMZ-7511.10, 264 (360) kW (hp) - YaMZ-7512.10 (at 1900 min);
- highest torque – 1715 N.m – YaMZ-7511.10, 1570 N.m – YaMZ-7512.10 (at 1100…1200 rpm);
- compression ratio – 16.5;
- cylinder diameter – 130 mm, piston stroke – 140 mm;
- specific fuel consumption – 195 (143) g/kW per hour (g/hp per hour);
- engine weight – 1250 kg – YaMZ-7511.10, 1215 kg – YaMZ-7512.10; together with gearbox and clutch - 1685 kg;

The products of the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant ( MZKT ) are the automotive pride of Belarusians, which for some reason we only remember during holiday parades. But today we will, to some extent, try to fill this patriotic gap thanks to our interlocutor - Vladimir Efimovich CHVYALEV, chief designer of MZKT , who has connected his entire life with the design of multi-ton trucks.
MZKT Volat
These vehicles are distinguished by powerful engines, increased carrying capacity, mobility, high productivity, the ability to transport heavy, large, indivisible cargo in any road conditions, excellent cross-country ability in rough terrain and weak soils, and the maneuverability of these multi-ton machines is comparable to middle-class passenger cars. It is on such vehicles that the “shield of the Motherland” is based; they work and are used in almost any climatic conditions. Nowadays not a single serious army in the world can do without such multi-axle tractors.
Maybe that's why our fellow citizens know little about these amazing and unique machines. After all, the process of their creation and use was strictly classified until recently. However, like the names of their creators.
We are talking about the products of the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant ( MZKT ), perhaps one of the few enterprises in the world that specializes in the production of heavy-duty off-road vehicles and trailed equipment for them, as well as special wheeled chassis for mounting a wide variety of equipment. The range of vehicles created by the plant is very large and diverse. Suffice it to say that the machines, chassis and tractors developed and mainly put into production have from one to twelve drive axles each. The vehicle's carrying capacity ranges from 20 to 220 tons. Moreover, they are all-wheel drive, have high-power engines (from 240 to 1500 hp), hydromechanical transmissions of our own design and production, two-speed transfer cases, two-stage axle drives with planetary wheel drives, split axles with independent torsion bar suspension, wide-profile, low-pressure heavy-duty tires with adjustable internal pressure from the driver's cabin, from two to eight (depending on the total number) steerable axles, providing acceptable maneuverability. A special feature of the cars is differential wheel drive schemes, including self-locking and locking cross-wheel and cross-axle differentials.
Confirmation of the high professionalism of the design team of SKB MAZ is the fact that three plants - Belorussian Automobile (BelAZ) in Zhodino, Mogilev Automobile ( MoAZ ) and Kurgan Wheel Tractor Plant (KZKT) - began their history with the production of vehicles created by the specified team.
If until the 90s, the main products of MZKT were tractors and chassis, created and produced in the interests of the USSR and Russian Defense Ministry, then, in accordance with the conversion program, the direction of development of the plant’s products changed. It consists mainly of machines for the national economy, and on their basis, thanks to dual-use technology, work continues to create products for the Russian Defense Ministry.
Currently, the plant produces products in six main families: 1) heavy-duty multi-axle all-wheel drive chassis and off-road tractors; 2) heavy-duty multi-axle all-wheel drive chassis and off-road tractors for installation of various equipment for sectors of the national economy; 3) heavy-duty road trains consisting of multi-axle tractors and semi-trailers (trailers) with a carrying capacity of 40-75 tons or more for transporting various goods and equipment both on and off roads; 4) heavy-duty road vehicles (width 2.5 m) and chassis with an 8x4 wheel arrangement, intended for transportation on various roads and installation of various equipment in order to create specialized units; 5) special chassis with wheel formulas 6x4, 6x6, 8x4, 8x8 and 12x12 with a special reinforced frame for mounting cranes, excavators and other types of equipment; 6) special all-wheel drive vehicles, dump trucks and chassis with 6x6 and 8x8 wheel arrangements, 2.5 m wide, intended for installation of various equipment for oil and gas enterprises and other purposes.
The history of the enterprise goes back to 1954, when, by order of the government, a special design bureau (SKB) was organized at the Minsk Automobile Plant. Initiates have heard about its tasks only in the most general terms: to create heavy-duty off-road vehicles for the army. There were much fewer of those who knew that we were talking about artillery tractors. And very few were familiar with the “strange” customer requirements for this tractor: surmountable inclines - up to 30 degrees, fords - up to 1.3 m, impressive fuel range (up to 1000 km) ...
The first head of SKB was the famous car designer Boris Lvovich Shaposhnik, who was the chief designer of the ZIS before the war. It was through his efforts that a creative team of designers was created, which managed to develop, test, finalize and put into mass production a large number of original and diverse vehicles for this purpose.
In 1955, a young specialist, a graduate of the automotive and tractor department of the Belarusian Polytechnic Institute, 23-year-old mechanical engineer Vladimir Chvyalev, came to work at SKB. Since then, the fate of Vladimir Efimovich has been inextricably linked with this unique enterprise, with the creation of multi-axis machines, their improvement and modification.
CHVYALEV Vladimir Efimovich - chief designer of MZKT. Born 1932 in Smolensk. In 1950 he graduated from secondary school N14 (Kislovodsk). In 1955, he completed his studies at the BPI (ATF) with a degree in automobile mechanical engineer. In 1955, he began his career at MAZ e in SKB. 1956 - senior design engineer. 1957 - leading design engineer. 1960 - Head of the design bureau of engineering tractors. 1963 - Head of the design bureau of heavy-duty trains. 1970 - Head of the Advanced Design Bureau. 1974 - Deputy Chief Designer. 1977 - First Deputy Chief Designer. Since 1985 - chief designer. Laureate of the USSR (1989), Honored Worker of Industry of the Republic of Belarus (1984), academician of the Russian Academy of Quality Problems and the Belarusian Engineering Technological Academy. Married. Has a daughter and two granddaughters.
— What was the first machine you developed? — I had the opportunity to take a big part in the development of the MAZ-529 in 1956. The history of the tractor is very interesting. They began to develop it as a base for self-propelled scrapers and other earth-moving equipment. As a result, the tractor and its modifications turned out to be quite successful; it began to be used not only in conjunction with a scraper, but also as a tractor-installer of missile units in stationary positions. The car passed the entire necessary cycle of checks and in 1959 it was recommended for mass production.
In 1959, I was appointed lead designer of the MAZ-538 . This is an engineering tractor, the peculiarity of which is the use of mounted and trailed equipment at the front and rear. Moreover, if necessary, it could be used simultaneously. Production of MAZ-538 was established in Kurgan. It was produced from 1963 until the early 90s.
Interesting fact. MAZ-528 prototype took place near the plant in a swamp. Now this is the area where Angarskaya Street and Partizansky Avenue intersect. — The design of multi-axle cars during the Cold War is said to be conservative. What was the actual concept? — Our vehicles are off-road and were primarily intended for the needs of the army. Therefore, issues of aesthetics and comfort faded into the background. It was necessary to ensure 100% efficiency of the vehicle, compliance with specified parameters and moderately low cost of construction. Of course, they thought less about comfort, but still the necessary conditions for people operating the equipment were provided. — How often is the design team updated? — I have been working at the plant for 46 years. Everything happened before my eyes. I can say that we are constantly recruiting young specialists. He has always been there. Except, perhaps, in the 90s, when young engineers, having the opportunity to find a job on their own after graduating from universities, most of them “went to sell flowers,” that is, they were looking for work outside their specialty. Over the entire history of the enterprise, about 100 machines were developed, including various modifications. Modifications are caused by the use of cars and the specifics of the installed equipment. Even one machine requires hundreds and thousands of drawings, parts, etc. Our work is creative, specific, and interesting, so a certain number of designers is practically retained. — What should we expect from MZKT in the near future? — Few people talk about the future (they don’t make predictions). Life does not stand still and always requires improved designs. Conversion has become the main test for our company. I think that we have taken the right path. We are currently engaged in the production of equipment for which there are real orders. MZKT is capable of building a car with any wheel arrangement - from 4x4 to 16x16 - and with an engine - be it domestic or imported - at the request of the customer. Other requirements will also be taken into account, and a unique machine, which has not been found anywhere else, will be ready no later than six months later. This is possible thanks to modular design: new cars are, as it were, assembled from ready-made “cube” units. Many components - from engines, cabins, axles and other components - are unified with those from MAZ, which makes repairs easier for the consumer.
Of the new vehicles that have been tested and recommended for mass production, we can note the chassis and all-terrain modifications MZKT-6525 (bonneted), road MZKT-6923 , MAZ-69237 , truck tractors: MZKT-7429 based on the chassis of 543rd chassis - a machine whose design turned out to be very successful. It was in mass production for about 30 years. The first Volat MZKT trademark ) appeared in 1990. The plant became an independent enterprise; before this, there was production of wheeled tractors at MAZ e. In the same year, the name “ Volat ” was officially registered. I would like to note the new fiberglass cabins with definitely improved characteristics, heat and noise insulation, and maintainability. They are made in Osipovichi at the auto components plant. The design features of our cars allowed, for example, the MAZ-7907 to fulfill an unusual order not so long ago. On this vehicle with a 24x24 wheel arrangement, a ship weighing 100 tons and 40 m long was transported from Borisov to Lake Naroch (a distance of about 200 km). Chassis 79081 (8x8 wheel arrangement) has all steerable wheels, which made it possible to increase the turning radius to 8 meters. The MAZ-7917 chassis is used as part of the Start , intended for commercial launches of space launch vehicles, satellites...
MZKT-65158 was recognized as the best machine of 2000 in the Republic of Belarus (with a load capacity of 25 tons). MZKT-742952-93783 road train is recognized by experts as a vehicle that has high performance when driving in mountainous, rugged terrain and off-road. And the MZKT-74135 is the best off-road in the sandy desert. MZKT designers also have more distant goals. For example, military vehicles with a hood are being developed, designed to replace the outdated troop transport base, and also fully meet all the requirements for crew protection. I believe that there is no limit to creativity. And the best designs are those that have not yet been created... - Does the emerging decline in production, as, for example, among other car manufacturers abroad, have a negative impact on the implementation of projects? — The situation of our enterprise is quite difficult. Therefore, we only work to order. There are problems, but we are coping so far. MZKT , including the design team, continues to live and work, becoming more and more successfully accustomed to conditions that are new to all of us. The plant works closely with companies from near and far abroad. Deutz , Caterpillar , Detroit Diesel , etc. can be installed on the car. — Do you think it is possible to deepen cooperation or an alliance MZKT and one of the above companies, or open a joint venture? — Our relations with these companies are purely business, and for now this is quite enough. And our joint venture has existed in China for about three years. For our part, we invested intellectual property into this enterprise. Our specialists also work there as consultants. The plant is supplied with complete sets of machines and components. Cars in China are assembled for domestic needs and under their own brand. — What can you say about the information that appeared in the Russian media about MZKT a certain Russian auto holding? “I think that this is impossible in the near future for a number of reasons. — Who provides service for MZKT abroad? — Firstly, we give a one-year warranty on our cars and a warranty of 15,000-25,000 km (depending on the signed contract). On average, the mileage before major repairs of our tractors is 200,000-250,000 km. Cases have been recorded when the chassis was “nursed” for 400,000 km. Each customer receives a list of spare parts and, if necessary, contacts us. In addition, our service is provided by full-time repairmen, who are located in all CIS countries. At the request of the customer, we provide training for drivers and other specialists. — How do you feel about the fact that people call your cars “centipedes”? - Warm. I consider this to be popular recognition and respect for our cars. My granddaughter, once seeing a multi-axle MZKT , said: “Grandfather, look what a CATERPILLAR!” — What is your zodiac sign? - A lion. — Tell me, do you spend a lot of time driving? — On weekends I often travel with my family, both within the city and on the highway. —Are you a philosopher? - Pragmatist. — Your first car? - VAZ - “penny”. Acquired in 1973. - Do you remember how you passed your driving test? — In 1953, still at the institute. Passed without any problems. But when I bought the car, I had to exchange it for a new one. Passed the exam on the first try and without any comments. — What are your impressions of your first driving lesson? - Excellent. We had driving at the institute (it was required as a specialty). I got behind the wheel of a GAZ-51 . The car is very strict when it comes to gear shifting. — What is your driving style? — I always drive at the maximum possible speed under certain road conditions and the speed limit. — Do you often break traffic rules? — I paid the fine only twice. Another 50 kopecks. For minor violations. The first time the traffic cop imposed a fine for the “incompleteness” of the car (lack of hubcaps on the wheels, despite the fact that they were in the trunk of my car and were demonstrated by me). — How do you feel about ladies driving? — My daughter got her license at the age of 18. My granddaughter got her license at the age of 18. Both drive very confidently. Women, of course, have their own characteristics of driving. Personally, I just try to keep my distance, no matter who is driving the car next to me - a man or a woman. On the highway I can calmly move ahead of an annoying “pursuer” or let a “reckless driver” pass ahead. — What do you listen to while driving? — Radio “Mayak”, and if on cassettes, then the best songs of the pre- and post-war years. — The brightest moment in your life? - My whole life is bright, and every moment of it is exciting in its own way... - Government awards? — Over the past 10 years, he has received the Russian Order of Friendship and the medal of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant was founded in 1991 on the basis of the production of special wheeled tractors of the Minsk Automobile Plant, which previously specialized in the production of transport bases for mobile missile systems of the former USSR - all-wheel drive wheeled chassis. The first generation of off-road vehicles appeared in the 50s. These were all-wheel drive engineering and artillery tractors. The technical solutions embodied in them clearly demonstrated the great capabilities of this technology, and trucks and tractors created in the 70s on the basis of four-axle chassis became indispensable for oil and gas workers, geologists and builders when developing hard-to-reach areas of Siberia and Central Asia.
Having modern equipment, highly qualified specialists who have many years of experience in the creation, production and operation of heavy-duty off-road vehicles, the plant successfully implements the conversion program.
Currently, the plant remains the only enterprise in the CIS specializing in the production of heavy-duty off-road vehicles and trailers for them, as well as special wheeled chassis for mounting a wide variety of equipment.
Dump trucks, truck tractors
Family of off-road dump trucks (8x8/4) MZKT-75165 Family of dump trucks (8x4/4) MZKT-65151 Family of off-road dump trucks (6x6/3) MZKT-6525
The “ Volat ” family is an 8X8 all-wheel drive vehicle designed for driving on all types of roads and across terrain, and their effectiveness is most fully demonstrated in difficult road conditions.
To ensure reliability and high performance when driving along difficult sections of the route (wet soil, sand, snow, ice, overcoming fords, slopes, ascents and descents), the design uses:
— diesel engine with a power of 312.5 kW. (425 hp) for single vehicles and road trains with a gross weight of up to 70 tons or 345.5 kW. (470 hp) for truck tractors and road trains over 70 tons; — nine-speed manual transmission; — two-speed transfer case with lockable inter-vehicle differential; — drive axles with a system of differentials, including self-locking and forced locking; — wide-profile tires with air pressure adjustable from the driver’s cabin; — independent torsion bar suspension with hydraulic shock absorbers for the 2 front axles and spring-balanced suspension of the rear wheels; — steering with hydraulic boosters and mechanical connection between the steered wheels; — dual-circuit pneumatic-hydraulic braking system with shoe brakes on all wheels; — double all-metal cabin, sprung at four points, tilting. A functional instrument panel, adjustable seats and berths provide increased driver comfort. A whole range of trailers and semi-trailers with the same tires and the same track have been developed specifically for these machines. They can also be used on all types of roads and off-road.
Chassis
Many years of experience in the creation and production of special wheeled chassis with large and especially heavy load capacity for the needs of the Ministry of Defense of the former USSR allowed the plant to create, taking into account the requirements of various customers, a wide range of wheeled chassis for mounting a wide variety of equipment and transporting it both on all types of roads and without roads.
Special chassis 6923 and 69232 with an 8x4 wheel arrangement, with a two-seater cabin located in front of an engine with a power of 243 kW, respectively. (330 hp) and 265 kW. (360 hp) are designed for installation of crane equipment weighing up to 22.5 tons. Chassis 6923 is used as part of the KS-6473 produced by Krayan ( Ukraine), and chassis 69232 is used as part of the MKSh-40 of the Srednevolzhsky Machine-Building Plant N 1 (Russia) with a lifting capacity of 50 tons. The chassis can also be successfully used as part of car lifts.
All-terrain chassis with an 8X8 wheel arrangement of the Volat and 543 differ not only in their layout, the weight of the mounted equipment, but also in the use of a manual transmission 79091 , 79092 and 79301 They are equipped with an engine of the new YaMZ-8424.10 . Various layout solutions: cabin above the engine - 79091 , 79092 , cabin in front of the engine - 79301 , cabins to the right and left of the engine - 543 , 543A , 7313 and 73132 or only to the left - on chassis 543M , provide mounting space for any equipment weighing up to 25 tons . Large specific power and a wide range of torque control determine the high cross-country ability and traction and dynamic qualities of the chassis, and the independent torsion bar suspension of the wheels ensures a smooth ride when driving in any conditions.
Six-axle chassis 7916 and 79191 . Chassis 79191 is designed to allow the drilling rig to be stowed, lifted into working position, and long-term drive of drilling equipment from the chassis engine.
The high performance qualities of these models are ensured by:
— 12-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine; — automatic hydromechanical transmission with torque converter and four-speed gearbox; — steered wheels of three front axles ( 7916 ) or three front and two rear axles ( 79191 ); — a system of differentials, including self-locking and forced locking; — wide-profile tires with adjustable air pressure; — high-speed pneumohydraulic brake drive on all wheels.

Transmission MZKT-65151
A single-disk mechanism of the YaMZ-184 model is used as a clutch. The gearbox on MZKT-65151 dump trucks is installed by the enterprise itself - a mechanical dual-range, nine-speed, with synchronized inclusion of all speeds, except first and reverse gears. Switching ranges in downshifts is carried out using a power pneumatic cylinder. The gearbox lubrication system is combined - splashing and under pressure, which is created by a built-in gear pump.
Top gear ratio – 0.795; the final drive ratio is 6.59. Power is taken to the hydraulic pump for lifting the loading platform from the rear end of the downshift housing - from a special shaft, which is connected to the intermediate shaft of the gearbox.
The drive axles are also of proprietary manufacture. The solid drive axle consists of a gearbox with a bevel gear, a lockable cross-axle differential and two planetary wheel gears. The drive axle is distinguished by a gearbox with a spur gear and a lockable center differential. It also has a backup hydraulic power steering pump installed. The drive of the main pump is standard, from a diesel engine.
Description and scope of its application
The presented model of an onboard vehicle was designed based on the technical characteristics of the MZKT family of trucks, distinguished by a new-fangled design and a powerful 8-cylinder engine in the 60s of the last century.
Truck MZKT 500200
The main responsibility of the updated equipment was the replacement of the main model range of all-wheel drive army vehicles MZKT and its universal modification MZKT.
Their main characteristics were vaguely reminiscent of the design and construction of American military prototypes produced by the United States and the Soviet Union as part of allied support in the fight against Nazi Germany.
The question of the development, construction and subsequent production in large volumes at the universal facilities of MZKT of a line of unified trucks for army needs and the resolution of various kinds of civil issues came at the end of the 2010s.
For more details, watch the video below:
Surprisingly,
work on the production of a new model of equipment was in full swing. The explanation for the high efficiency of the work was the successfully completed tests of certain elements of experimental MZKT vehicles.
And finally, at the end of 2011, the first sample of the MZKT 500200 truck was developed, which was equipped with a powerful in-line 6-cylinder engine.
After 2 years, the newly introduced device of the domestic automobile industry successfully overcame a number of tests at the factory and state levels and showed itself only from the best side.
For this reason, the start of mass production in large volumes was scheduled for mid-2011 , but for certain technological reasons, the launch of the factory conveyor took place only at the end of 2012.
8 cylinder truck engine
The all-wheel drive truck features a standard hood layout with a V-shaped carburetor 8-cylinder engine. The designers also equipped the mechanism with a special device that allows you to disable the functioning of the front axle.
The rear axle remained operational. Characteristic features of the car are an oil-foam air filtration system, a five-speed gearbox equipped with a special synchronizer and a two-stage transfer case, as well as a dry-type single-plate clutch.
The truck is controlled using a hydraulic booster .
Some time after the release of the first batch of MZKT 500200, a number of vehicle modifications were made regarding electrical equipment without monitors, truck tractors were improved, and significant changes were made to improve the performance of the diesel engine.
The use of the presented model of equipment and its various modifications for military purposes deserves more attention.
a whole line of combat and special vehicles was designed and put into service , among which there are combat prototypes equipped with rocket artillery, standard minelayers, air defense systems, fuel tankers, a fire truck, as well as other devices.
If we talk about the scale of production of MZKT 500200 trucks from the moment of their production to the present day, then at present there are over 1 million units of this equipment with all kinds of modifications.
On the streets of almost every city, especially villages, villages and urban settlements, you can often see this truck.
For the first time, an experimental model of the MZKT 500200 vehicle was presented to the masses at the army games on July 3, 2013, to commemorate Independence Day.
Automobile factories are constantly improving their models. One example is Kamaz-65205, equipped with a modern engine and a comfortable cabin.
To replace the KamAZ 54115, a more advanced model KamAZ-65116 is being produced.
But Kamaz-55111 was stopped produced in 2012. Instead, a new model appeared - KamAZ-65115.
Frame, suspension, chassis
The design of the MZKT-65151 dump truck is based on an exceptionally strong spar-type frame with cross members that are bolted to the side members. This design is classic for all heavy trucks from this plant and is extremely durable.
The front suspension is spring-dependent, with telescopic shock absorbers, the rear suspension is spring-balancer, with additional reinforcement. The axles use beams with an I-section and steering knuckles. The first rear axle is made of a non-split design and is equipped with a central through gearbox, cross-wheel and center differentials with forced locking. An inter-wheel differential with locking is mounted on the second rear axle.
Technical characteristics of MZKT-65151 in numbers
- Overall dimensions: length – 9060 mm, width – 2500 mm, height – 3290 mm.
- External turning radius – 11500 mm.
- The gross vehicle weight is 41,000 kg.
- Curb weight – 16,000 kg.
- Load capacity – 25,000 kg.
- The lifting time of the dump truck is 30 seconds.
- Tire size – 12.00 R20.
- Run-out distance from a speed of 50 km/h – 790 m (at curb weight), 935 m (at full weight).
- Diesel fuel consumption during uniform movement at a speed of 60 km/h is 45 l/100 km.
- Maximum speed – 85 km/h.
Cabin MZKT-65151
The MZKT-65151 truck is equipped with a double cab of the MAZ-5551 type, mounted on its frame on a four-point spring suspension with hydraulic shock absorbers. As an additional option, it is possible to install an air suspension for the cab.
The driver's seat can also have air suspension and an elastic element. And the standard basic package includes the simplest version of the chair - with a plate torsion bar and shock absorber. It provides only satisfactory ride softness.
Considerable attention is paid to the working conditions of the truck driver: the steering column can be adjusted in height and tilt; rear view mirrors are electrically heated; The gear shift mechanism is equipped with a power pneumatic cylinder; the diesel fuel supply pedal is equipped with a latch that fixes its position in the engine warm-up and tire inflation modes; There is a system for monitoring the clogging of the air and oil filters. As an additional option, it is possible to equip the MZKT-65151 cabin with an air conditioner from Webasto. The first step is located a little high, which is not very convenient when boarding the cabin. An additional flexible step would not hurt - on two sections of cable, as on the Ural-532301.
Reviews about MZKT-65151 trucks
During the operation of this truck, the following features are revealed: when entering turns, the load on the engine increases significantly, up to a significant reduction in speed, and when exiting a bend, the vehicle accelerates. This subtlety applies to sharp turns at high speed. With the right choice, truck driving becomes more confident, but only on hard-surfaced roads. When driving through quarries, even in a smooth turn, due to the significant mass, the car buries its steered wheels in the sand. In this regard, the locking of the center and wheel differentials, which are equipped with the MZKT-65151, are a very necessary and even necessary thing.
When overloaded, the center of gravity shifts and the car becomes unstable, despite good anti-roll bars. It is not easy to drive the MZKT-65151 dump truck on freshly fallen snow or “snow porridge”: it constantly skids, and when braking, the trail turns into an ice coating.
Everyone notes the exceptional simplicity of the design of the Minsk four-axle dump truck. In this regard, the company does not abandon its traditions. Indeed, in Soviet times, MZKT was a special department within the MAZ production association, which was engaged in the design, development and production of heavy multi-axle vehicles for transporting rocketry, including ballistic missiles. And for army equipment, simplicity of design and reliability have always come first. These properties were and remain the main advantages of MZKT-65151 dump trucks.
The good quality and well-thought-out design of the body of the MZKT 65151 dump trucks are also noted. The locks of its rear side are made in such a way that when unloading a mass of cargo, clogging would be as minimal as possible. By means of these locks the board is firmly and reliably fixed in the closed position. Ladders for servicing the cargo dump platform are installed successfully and competently, which greatly facilitates the performance of all current work.
The cargo in the body is tented with a winch, and for this you do not need to climb into the body or drag some kind of frame by the handle. The spare wheel is also winched down.
But the metal from which both the cabin and the car body are made is of poor quality and is very susceptible to corrosion. Which, however, is not uncommon in our time.
Specifications
The new model of the MZKT 500200 truck is characterized by much better technical characteristics , including the fuel consumption of this vehicle has significantly decreased in comparison with previous analogues.
Truck power steering
MZKT 500200 is equipped with a special power steering, a winch with greater traction, as well as a unique tire pressure control system, which allows you to perform certain tasks in more comfortable conditions.

These indicators contribute not only to long-term work in comfortable conditions, but also increase operational performance several times.
The onboard MZKT 500200 is distinguished by the presence of a wooden platform, the frame of which is made of metal bars. The side and front sides are solid, and the rear side is folding . The side walls are equipped with folding benches and protective grilles.
The truck was provided with a “tail” that protected the engine from contamination and gave the entire vehicle an attractive appearance. The MZKT 500200 manipulator has a stronger base. The platform structure and frame are made of hardened carbon steel.
The need for a car was due to the need to accommodate crane equipment or other specialized installations.

These properties allowed the MZKT 500200 to become a bestseller among trucks of that generation when the presented vehicle model began to be delivered from the assembly line to the masses.
The main gear of the presented model of equipment is double, and the gear ratio is equal to 7.34. A distinctive feature of the cargo sample is the way the front axle is engaged using an electro-pneumatic drive.
The main lever that activates it is located on the instrument panel inside the driver's cabin and in appearance resembles a simple two-position metal toggle switch.
In addition, the front axle is engaged thanks to the gear shift lever. All speeds except the first are protected by specialized locks, which will prevent accidental switching off of the speed when the load on the engine sharply increases. This function is extremely important when lifting the machine for a long time.
The car's gearbox, due to its technical characteristics, is of a mechanical type. However, for its era, when the MZKT 500200 was especially significant and in demand, the device was equipped with quite innovative electrical devices.
The creators of the car managed to achieve maximum cross-country ability of the truck and impeccable grip on the road surface.
The equipment is characterized by the presence of walk-through axles. The impressive size of the tires allows you to compare truck wheels with conventional types of tracked vehicles.
