Design Features

Tonar 9523 with extended sides - has exactly the same characteristics as the main dump truck, however, due to the extended sides, the volume of the trailer has increased to 43 cubic meters. This modification is ideal for transporting scrap metal, as well as bulk cargo with low density, such as grain or vegetables.

Tonar 95234 with increased load capacity with side unloading - differs from the standard model in the number of axles, of which there are one more, thanks to which the trailer can be used on public roads, while complying with the standards for the load on one axle. The total volume reaches 58 cubic meters, the maximum cargo weight is 46 tons.

Tonar 952342/44 grain carrier - this model also has 4 axles as the previous version, exactly the same load capacity of 46 tons, but has a large body volume: without add-ons 60 cubic meters, with add-ons the total volume reaches 74 cubic meters.

Tonar 95235 is a dump semi-trailer with bottom unloading. Designed primarily for transporting cargo such as potatoes and beets. In terms of cargo weight, its characteristics are identical to the standard one, but its volume is 47 cubic meters.

Tonar 95239 is a dump semi-trailer with side unloading for high-density cargo. The total volume is 25.5 cubic meters. Maximum cargo weight is 31 tons. The main feature of this trailer is its tightness, which is achieved thanks to a tensioned awning. Available in two versions with left and right side discharge.

Tonar 952362 is a three-axle dump truck with rear unloading. The body volume is 40 cubic meters, the maximum weight of transported cargo is up to 43 tons. It is also primarily used for transporting high-density bulk cargo, such as crushed stone, sand, and coal.

Tonar 95236 is a three-axle dump truck with side dumping, has twin wheels, which allows it to be used on public roads. One of the largest in the Tonar model line. Body volume is 61 cubic meters, maximum cargo weight is up to 65 tons. Ideal for bulk cargo, and given the side unloading, it can be used almost anywhere, especially when there is limited space for unloading.

Model 95231 has solid capabilities. The truck is four-axle, designed for transporting large consignments of grain. Its carrying capacity is 45.5 tons. Thanks to competent engineering solutions, the curb weight does not exceed 10,576 kilograms. It has a dependent suspension on trailing arms with pneumatic elements. However, there is a set of rules, if followed, the semi-trailer will serve you for years:

  • One of the main ones is that the weight of the transported cargo should not exceed that indicated in the technical specifications. Otherwise, the load on the truck will increase. This can have a negative impact on the axle.
  • Do not forget that the center of gravity of the load should be located in the middle of the body.
  • A trailer with TEBSE can only be used in conjunction with tractors that have a five- or seven-pin ABS socket.
  • The described semi-trailer models are designed for operation in temperate climates. This means that the air temperature should be no less than minus 45 and no more than 45 degrees Celsius. Humidity in this case should not exceed eighty percent.
  • The trailer must be coupled to the tractor on a hard, level surface.
  • If you leave the car on a slope, do not forget to install wheel chocks under the wheels.
  • The body should be unloaded on level ground. The longitudinal slope should not exceed 4 degrees. If you notice the slightest sign of trailer instability, stop unloading.
  • In the back you can transport bulk products and even construction materials. But remember that transporting clay is strictly prohibited by the manufacturer.

The topic of profitability of transportation of bulk construction cargo is always relevant: the more one vehicle transports in one trip, the more profitable the transportation itself is. But the carrying capacity of a single dump truck is limited, so there is only one way out - the use of road trains. A new word in this direction was said in the Moscow region.

The very idea of ​​a tipper road train, consisting of several multi-axle semi-trailers, was spied on by the Americans. In the USA, similar road trains have long been created to remove rock from a quarry and further transport it along public roads. Moreover, they are not limited to trains such as a tractor + two semi-trailers and, without hesitation, hook up to four towed cargo units. Moreover, each such semi-trailer can have up to five or six axles, which increases its load capacity.

But such vehicles are more likely to be exotic, so in the Moscow region they took a more practical route, limiting themselves to two three-axle dump semi-trailers coupled to each other. The total weight of such a road train should not exceed 64,270 kg, and the carrying capacity should not exceed 48,850 kg. When using a three-axle tractor, the weight of the loaded road train is distributed fairly evenly over all nine axles and theoretically does not exceed the design load of 9 tons on each axle, which makes it possible to operate the road train even on roads with low load-bearing capacity, however, provided that there is no overload.

By the way, about overload. Knowing the desire of our operators to squeeze everything that is possible, and sometimes what is not, out of the equipment, testing of the new road train was carried out with almost double overload, filling the bodies with wet sand. According to the most conservative estimates, the two bodies contained almost 80 tons of cargo, and the total weight of the entire road train was close to 100(!) tons. Such overload was necessary not to show a margin of safety, but quite the opposite - to identify the weak points of semi-trailers . For example, when unloading wet sand, testers noted a deflection of the right (lower during unloading) side of the body; as a result, it became necessary to make an additional connection of the sides with a beam in the center of the body (it is clearly visible in photographs during unloading).

In addition to the permissible axle loads, questions arise: to what extent is the operation of such a monster permitted on public roads, and will there be problems with the traffic police regarding the length of the road train? After all, together with the tractor, the road train crosses the seemingly maximum permitted 20 m? But here we must not forget one addition to the rules that allow the maximum length of a road train consisting of two (!) trailers - 24 m. And a road train near Moscow, consisting of just two semi-trailers, more than fits into this parameter.

When designing dump semi-trailers, the plant's designers had to solve non-standard problems. It is clear that with such a coupling only a lateral stall is possible. But the plant recently launched the production of dump trucks with high sides and a rounded bottom, and I wouldn’t want to give them up. But in order to unload such a body sideways, it had to be turned over at an angle greater than 90°. This condition required, firstly, to shift the tipping axis of the body much higher in order to prevent the center of gravity from shifting sideways from the axis of the road train and thereby maintaining the stability of the semi-trailers during unloading, and secondly, to carry out hydraulic equipment for the trailers according to a dual-circuit scheme, since the body is now cannot return to its original position under its own weight, and it had to be returned forcibly by forcing the hydraulic system to work in the other direction. Here it would be useful to recall that all hydraulic equipment on the Tonar is used only from the Italian company PENTA.

Among the design features of the road train, it can also be noted that all six axles produced by Tonar itself are installed on air springs and equipped with new generation ABS TEBS-E. This anti-lock braking system, unlike the usual one, has a gyroscope built into the unit, which allows you to control the horizontal stability of the semi-trailer and helps control the load on each axle during operation, redistributing it if necessary. The air suspension also improves the smoothness of the entire hitch and makes it possible to artificially lower the ground clearance of the road train when unloading, again for better stability. Moreover, the manufacturer strongly recommends using a tractor with air spring suspension in this hitch, based on the same considerations. On each semi-trailer, the first of three axles is a lifting axle - it automatically rises on an empty semi-trailer and lowers when loading, which allows for a slight reduction in fuel consumption and improves the maneuverability of the road train during empty runs.

Special equipment is sold from official representatives. There are suppliers in many cities of Russia. The cost of semi-trailers depends on the year of manufacture, the presence of additional options and body volume.

Price for Tonar 9523 2022. the average is 2 million 200 thousand rubles. Approximately the same cost is installed on body 95231.

Platforms for buying and selling used cars offer lower prices. There it is possible to buy a semi-trailer in good condition within a million rubles. For example, the 2007 model is offered for 650–690 thousand. A trailer made in 2012 can be bought for one million two hundred thousand rubles.

Grain semi-trailers are needed for transporting bulk agricultural products. This is the optimal way to transport goods over long distances. Tonar equipment takes pride of place on the market. It is reliable, modifications differ mainly in dimensions.
