Functionality and technical design of LHT 100

The MKGS-100 crane is a jib assembly crawler crane with a lifting capacity of 100 tons, designed for the installation of heavy and large-scale equipment, building structures, as well as reconstruction of enterprises in various industries, including metallurgical and petrochemical.

The design of the MKGS-100 crane includes the running and slewing parts, boom and turret-boom equipment, winch, hook cages, diesel-electric unit, rotation mechanism, mounting stand, generator group and slewing bearing cabin. All operating mechanisms of the crane are powered by a direct current electric drive. This ensures low landing speeds and helps them regulate speed from zero to maximum.

The design of the crane was developed by specialists from VKTI Minmontazhspetsstroy and the design bureau of the Ulyanovsk Mechanical Plant No. 2. The same plant launched the production of these cranes (the MKGS-100 crane - since 1978; the MKGS-100.1 crane - since 1990).

A special feature of the MKGS-100 crane is increased mobility due to the use of a new transportation scheme. The rotating part of the crane rests on the frame of a two-axle pneumatic wheeled trolley, which is connected to the lower frame of the crane using a bracket, and the supporting part of the boom is connected to the saddles by a tractor unit. In this way, a road train weighing about 56 tons is created, which ensures its free movement in the traffic flow on the roads.

The MKGS-100 crane is equipped with elongated booms due to 7 m inserts. All booms can be equipped with an uncontrolled jib 12 m long. Tower-jib equipment is provided: towers 29, 43 and 50 m long and steerable jib 19 - 40 m long. The crane is equipped with a device for increasing the lifting capacity due to an additional mast and a suspended counterweight up to 160 tons. The crane is transported on roads in enlarged units: a rotating part and a lower frame, boom sections of 14 and 7 m, crawler bogies, a counterweight. By rail, the crane is transported on 5 platforms instead of 14 with the usual disaggregation into assembly units.

The electric drive ensures smooth adjustment of the units. The unit can operate without a motor if there is a three-phase power supply nearby. The diesel-electric system is a self-contained unit that is not mounted on a crane, so it does not add any weight to the unit. The device is installed according to the principle of modular construction, which facilitates disassembly and transportation of the device.
