All snowmobiles in this series were equipped with a modern (injection, liquid-cooled) four-stroke engine with a displacement of 800 cm³.

The Stealth Wolverine snowmobile first appeared towards the end of 2013. Many Russians, flattered by the new product, began to buy the very first model. However, “Wolverine” is a snowmobile, the first model of which did not really shine with its quality. The Chinese eight hundred cc engine of the Odes brand, shock absorbers and, in general, many running parts could have been pumped up at the most crucial moment. Therefore, taking into account the defects and completely reworking my brainchild, I brought it to perfection. And today the Wolverine 800 snowmobile has nothing in common with the first model, except for its appearance.

Advantages and disadvantages

  • The main advantage of the Wolverine is its modern and powerful four-stroke engine. The injection power system of which saves the owner from fiddling with adjusting the carburetor.
  • The large-displacement engine, combined with a wide 60-centimeter track and low gear, makes the unit high-torque.
  • The engine power is enough to easily accelerate the Wolverine to 80 km/h... more is possible - the snowmobile is capable of reaching 105 km/h, but this will take a long time and is generally not recommended.

An affordable price and passable quality, at one time, made the Stels S 800 “Wolverine” an excellent choice compared to its foreign-made classmates, which cost 2-3 times more.

Of the minuses it should be noted:

  • brittle plastic
  • steel is not of the highest quality,
  • periodic minor breakdowns,
  • the need to purchase additional ski pads (so that a heavy snowmobile does not fall through).

It is not recommended to buy the S800 “Wolverine” snowmobile today - problems with some spare parts and plastic will occur (as with any other model that has long been discontinued). But there are no questions about the engine - all consumables and spare parts are suitable for new Stels snowmobiles with a similar power unit volume.

User manual

Each Stels snowmobile is equipped with a warranty card and detailed operating instructions, which indicate all the key points for servicing the track. Break-in recommendations

The running-in period for this snowbike includes the first 500 km. During this period, new engine parts are just being broken in, so it is important to follow the following rules:

  • During the first start, let the engine idle for 2-5 minutes. During this time it will warm up to the desired temperature.
  • For the first 150 km it is recommended to drive at a speed of no more than 50 km/h.
  • After reaching 150 km and until the end of the break-in, you should not allow long driving at speeds in the range of 60-75 km/h.
  • Ride without a load or a passenger.
  • At the end of the break-in, completely change the engine oil.

During the break-in period, it is strictly forbidden to drive with the throttle fully open. If for some reason there is extraneous noise in the engine, you should contact a specialized service center.

Maintenance

The first comprehensive maintenance should be carried out immediately after the end of the running-in period or a month after purchase. All operations must be repeated at intervals of 500 km or once a month. In addition, it is necessary to carry out daily maintenance each time before leaving. During the EO they check:

  • fuel and oil level;
  • condition of controls, track, air filter;

Preservation and storage

After the end of the season, snowmobile equipment is removed for long-term storage, having previously undergone preservation. Proper preparation allows you to keep all the vital components of the machine in working order and prevent premature corrosion.

Storage areas must be dry and well ventilated. Preparations for preservation should be carried out with a cold engine.

Basic engine operations:

  • Remove the spark plugs and pour 20-25 ml of engine oil into each cylinder.
  • Insert spark plugs into spark plug tips and place them on metal parts of the engine to “ground” them.
  • Use the starter several times to crank the crankshaft.
  • Insert the spark plugs into the cylinders and put on the tips.

Rear suspension preparation:

  • Remove moisture and snow from the surface.
  • Loosen the track.
  • Install the hangers on the supports so that the track is in a hanging position.
  • Clean the entire surface of the bike and apply anti-corrosion agent.
  • Put on the cover.

Many owners, of course, will be able to tune the Stealth 800 for reliability, but you still need to understand that this is not a two-stroke Buran, which any hunter can disassemble and assemble in the cold in half an hour. Here the design is more subtle, complex and delicate.

    The price justifies itself, but a person who does not know how to turn nuts is better off buying the cheapest Yamaha or Arctic Cat. Expensive, but it’s civilized and takes less time.

    Anyone who has a garage and who is not going to use the Stealth 800 for heavy loads, who is not going to attach a snowmobile sled to it, will be satisfied with the equipment.
