GAZ-3302 is produced with various bodies: flatbed, dump truck, van body (isothermal, refrigerator), extended platform. System design
The fuel supply system in Gazelles consists of:

Standard tanks
The factory fuel tank on Gazelles comes in two types:

The fuel system is usually only addressed when the old tank has leaked. Many users are very unhappy that the car’s life is barely enough for a long trip.

Frequent refueling and several full cans of gasoline help to cope with this problem, but refueling on the road between cities is not always convenient - it’s a waste of time. What should you do? As it turns out, there aren’t very many options here. You can discard the independent modification immediately if you do not want problems with the law. Some craftsmen converted factory tanks into more capacious models for their car.
Simple manipulations with welding and several sheets of suitable metal are quite enough to double the capacity of the Gazelle’s gas tank.
But there is one significant “but” - if this homemade product is discovered during an official technical inspection, you will at least get off with a fine, since unauthorized modifications of the fuel system are prohibited.

Options for solving the problem
If you are determined to modify your car, first obtain permission to do so, but even then, problems may arise at customs. The Gazelle fuel system has a permissible reserve of + 10 liters in the fuel transportation rules, which cannot be legally exceeded.
If you “ride” on the roads exclusively of your own country, then the volume of the tank can be increased 2-3 times, but when moving to other countries, at checkpoints they often check standard documentation and compare it with the current configuration of the car. Putting a car through an x-ray takes two minutes, so all further manipulations are at your own peril and risk.
Here are possible upgrade options that will increase the maximum tank volume:
- installation of a larger tank;
- installation of a second additional tank for gasoline;
- installation of several additional containers.

It’s worth mentioning right away that the last option is used extremely rarely, since it is the most technically difficult to implement, but the safest in terms of visual inspection. Additional tanks are hidden in other parts of the car, but this complicates both refueling and vehicle maintenance. Implementation of the first option
The first option for most is to purchase a new tank with a capacity of 100 liters or more. But the problem here is not at all in purchasing the part or installing it. The fact is that there are only two options for tanks on the Gazelle - the aforementioned 60 and 70 liters. For modification, by law, you can only use official tanks from the manufacturer, and the Gorky plant simply does not produce them.

Many petitions were written to the plant about this, but GAZ did nothing to eliminate the problems. The only solution that may suit some drivers is the universal 100-liter from Gas 66, series 3307. If one hundred square meters is enough, then just buy and install the part; no modifications other than modified fasteners will be needed.
That is, if you want to buy yourself a 105, 110 or 120 liter tank, you will have to buy it from another brand. Here the first problem arises - this is against the law and the likelihood of a fine if such a kit part is discovered is 100%. But if you are ready to take a risk, here are the models you can use:
- Metal tanks for 105-145 liters, the main thing is that they fit the shape.
- A large 150 liter aluminum tank from almost any manufacturer is the most common option, often installed in quantities of 2 pieces. The price for such parts can be from 60,000-80,000 rubles.
- Metal ones from KAMAZ trucks and other similar vehicles with a capacity of 200 liters or more. Such tanks are rarely installed due to the fact that they can greatly increase the weight of the car, and, as a result, increased fuel consumption. But in this case, for long-distance trips it lasts for several days.
With the purchase of a large tank, you will have to install a more powerful pump for pumping fuel, and you will also need to replace some tubes and the neck so that there are no problems when transporting fuel along highways.

Second tank
One of the most popular solutions is to install an additional tank. Most often, a second fuel tank is installed somewhere on the side of the factory one.

The difference between this solution is that it will require serious modification of the entire fuel system, starting with the installation of a double neck and ending with the pump. There are two scheme options here:
- Parallel installation of tanks.

Depending on the volume of the new and old tank, you need to select the pump power and other components.
