How to remove the body from the UAZ 469 frame

Many car owners operating UAZ 469 cars are interested in the question of how to remove the body from the UAZ 469 frame. This is not difficult to do. For the entire complex of work, a minimum of 3 people should be involved. The UAZ must be driven into a box where there is a crane beam. Carry out preparatory operations:

  • the hood, battery, headlights and other elements that interfere with operation are removed;
  • the power plant and gearbox are also dismantled;
  • the wings at the front are also removed;
  • after this it is necessary to dismantle the front side members and mudguards.

Before lifting under the wheels, you should install wheel chocks and disconnect the cable ends from the battery. Remove the steering mechanism and box cover hatches. Disconnect the radiator from the frame. If the engine has a K 150 carburetor, it is necessary to disconnect the rod passing through the entire body.

Just before lifting, unscrew the 12 bolts securing the body to the frame on the UAZ 469. The body can be lifted using a crane or a jack using wooden spacers.

Using several techniques, raise the body to the required height. Lifting should be carried out alternately from the front to the rear in 2-3 steps so that the body does not move relative to the frame. Set spacers. Secure the crane beam slings with 4 hooks to the doorways.

To avoid deforming the metal, use plastic or metal boxes as protective gaskets. Remove the body from the frame and install it next to it in free space, first placing wooden blocks.

In UAZ vehicles, the turn signal circuit includes a steering switch, a turn relay, an hazard warning light and six bulbs.

This system is protected from overloads by several fuses:

  • F8 – 10 A (for alarm);
  • F20 – 7.5 A (for direction indicators).

Turn signals without a relay will not blink , so its malfunction is easy to determine.

It is located in the mounting block, on the left side, at the driver’s feet. In ambulances and utility vehicles such as UAZ, the turn relay is installed on the partition, behind the driver's seat.

If the relay malfunctions, it must be removed, and the use of metal objects is not allowed.
