The ZIL-MMZ-4502 car was produced in two main modifications:

  • ZIL-MMZ-45021 was developed in such a way that it will work without a trailer. It is based on chassis 311L-130K. Equipped with a ZIL-157D power unit with six cylinders arranged in a row. The volume of the power unit is 5.38 liters. Power is 110 horsepower.
  • ZIL-MMZ-45022 differs from the previous modification by the presence of a towing device. It is capable of connecting different types of trailer drive systems (electric, pneumatic, hydraulic). History of ZIL-MMZ-4502

Description of the car

The dump truck was intended for transportation of bulk materials, construction materials, equipment and other cargo. It could withstand a weight of up to 5 tons and performed well both off-road and in urban conditions. Its relatively small size and turning radius (7 m) made it a universal solution for cargo transportation in the city, region and at remote sites.

The car was equipped with extension sides for transporting bulk cargo and an awning with a frame to protect the cargo from dirt and precipitation. Loading and unloading was carried out from above or from behind through the folding side. The body was equipped with folding seats for transporting people (up to 16 people). The ability to tow a trailer is not provided, but two hooks above the front bumper made it possible, if necessary, to pull out another stuck car.

Device

To install dumping equipment, a welded subframe is used, which is rigidly attached to the side members of the base chassis through wooden spacers. Modifications

The company produced several modifications of the dump truck. The characteristics depend on the type of chassis supplied by the Moscow Automobile Plant. Likhacheva. By separate order, vehicles of the MMZ-45022 model were produced, which were operated only with a 2-axle dump trailer with a total weight of up to 8000 kg.

Modifications

The debut batch of ZIL 4502 rolled off the assembly line in December 1975. A month later, mass production of the car began. Along with the modernization of the ZIL 130 series, the ZIL 4502 also changed. The vehicle was successively produced on the ZIL 130D1-66, ZIL 130D1-76 and ZIL 495810 chassis. The lubricant was distributed by spray and pressure, having previously gone through deep cleaning using an element consisting of thin steel plates. Blowing was carried out using a closed method, air purification was carried out using a VM-16 filter. Forced fueling of the engine was carried out using a fuel pump with 2 inlet and 1 outlet valves.

Constant pressure in the air reservoir of the brake system is maintained by a mechanical compressor driven by a water pump pulley. The cooling system consists of 2 cylinders of 20 liters each. The braking system also includes a parking brake, which is used to hold the vehicle on an incline. When active, the parking brake locks the driveshaft.

The ZIL 4502 uses a standard electrical system with a 12 V mains voltage. Power is provided using a battery and a generator.
