TOP 5 Neva motor cultivators with Honda and Subaru engines

Since 2002, a well-known aircraft manufacturer in St. Petersburg has organized a new production of household appliances, JSC Krasny Oktyabr-Neva. Neva walk-behind tractors and cultivators produced by the plant have an impeccable reputation as inexpensive and reliable equipment. Neva motor tools are sold throughout the country and abroad, serviced by 160 service centers established by the plant.

Characteristics of the model range

The plant produces walk-behind tractors and cultivators; the equipment differs in weight, size and transmission design. A walk-behind tractor equipped with a powerful power unit allows you to plow virgin soil or tow trailers weighing up to 300 kg.

Cultivators are designed for loosening soil on personal plots; the design allows the installation of a limited list of attachments.

The design of Neva agricultural equipment is based on a metal welded frame with a horizontal protective shield. The frame has standardized mounting points that allow the installation of gasoline power units from various manufacturers; electric cultivators are not included in the production program. To start the motors, a manual starter is used (except for walk-behind tractor models with an electric starting device). The control handles are mounted on a special base that allows you to adjust the angle of inclination.

MB 2

The walk-behind tractor is equipped with Russian-made engines (KaDvi) and imported units from Subaru, Briggs & Stratton and Honda, developing power up to 10 hp. There is a special modification equipped with an electric starter and headlight. The design of the equipment uses a manual gearbox with a reduction gearbox, providing 4 forward speeds and 2 reverse gears. The weight of the modification with the Honda GX270 engine reaches 104 kg, the width of the plowed strip is 800 mm.

MK 70

The mini-cultivator is equipped with 5-horsepower Briggs&Stratton or Kasei motors, working in conjunction with a 1-speed chain gearbox (reverse gear is not provided). Both engines are equipped with an overhead valve gas distribution mechanism with a rod valve drive. The gearbox contains an oil bath; lubricant is supplied by an automatically moving chain. For plowing the soil, cutters with a diameter of 350 mm are used, and a soil loosening depth regulator is provided.

MK-80

The standard model is equipped with a 5-horsepower Briggs & Stratton engine and a 1-speed gearbox without reverse capability. For soil processing, stacked cutters with a diameter of 250 mm, placed on axle shafts, were used. The design of the units makes it possible to dismantle part of the cutters; the processing width varies between 600-900 mm. The cultivator is equipped with a narrow body, which allows you to work in cramped conditions between tree trunks.

The 80 P modification is distinguished by the use of a Subaru EY15 4-stroke gasoline engine, which develops power up to 5 hp. with a cylinder displacement of 183 cm³. Belts with a tension roller are used to transmit torque to the gearbox. The gearbox design includes gears and a chain; the transmission provides 1 gear for forward movement and 1 for reverse. The weight of the unit is 50 kg, the cutters mounted on the axle shafts provide processing of a strip of soil 600 mm wide, the plowing depth is adjusted by the coulter.

MK-100

A small-sized cultivator equipped with a 5-horsepower engine and a chain transmission with a belt clutch. The plant produced 2 modifications of the product, which differed in the configuration of the tool. The improved model provides for the installation of side protective discs, which reduce the risk of damage to trees when cultivating the soil. The unit is not intended to work on dense soil; the width of the treated surface is 600 mm. Depending on the modification, the plowing depth is in the range of 160-200 mm.

MK-200

The Neva MK-200 cultivator is equipped with several types of engines with a power of 4.5-6 hp. To rotate the working tool or move it, a 2-stage chain reducer with an intermediate gear is used. Due to the increased weight of the equipment to 65 kg, a reverse gear was used, which simplified maneuvering in cramped conditions.

To loosen the soil, cutters with a diameter of 250 or 320 mm are used (depending on the type of motor); the use of a standard regulator does not allow plowing the soil to a depth of more than 160 mm. To maintain balance during storage, a front wheel mounted on a folding bracket is used. The fuel tank is located on the top of the engine, gasoline is supplied to the carburetor by gravity.

Technical capabilities of the Neva-Mini cultivator

The gasoline cultivator is most in demand at dachas.
The tool will even lift virgin soil, but is easy to operate, which allows even an elderly person to work with them. Mini-cultivators are a separate range of machines with low productivity. The Neva Mini cultivator is a separate class of machines equipped with a Subaru engine with a shaft power of 4.5 liters. With. The unit is designed for deep cultivation of soils of varying densities.

But this particular cultivator is the quietest. This is facilitated by the overhead valve engine design of the Robin-Subaru EX-13. The remaining components are used the same as on the more powerful MK-200. The mini-mechanism can be easily upgraded by craftsmen to a walk-behind tractor, and canopies for the MB-2 are suitable for it.

Without changing the structural elements, in its original configuration, it performs the following operations:

  • cultivating the land with a plow;
  • digging up potatoes;
  • carries a single-row or double-row hiller;
  • can work with a disc harrow.

Technical data of the “baby”:

  • width of the processed strip – 96 cm;
  • number of speeds – 2 without reverse;
  • the steering column is adjustable in 2 positions;
  • processing depth - 30 cm;
  • clutch – belt;
  • drive – chain:
  • three-speed transmission, oil gear-chain reducer;
  • weight – 55 kg.

Operating rules

Rules for using Neva agricultural equipment:

  • Before starting operation, check the oil level in the engine crankcases and gearbox. During break-in (the first 20-25 hours of operation), it is prohibited to overload the equipment and bring the power unit to maximum speed. After the break-in is completed, it is necessary to drain the oil contaminated with chips and refill with fresh fluid.
  • After completion of plowing, it is necessary to remove dust and soil from the body and cutters. The cultivator can be cleaned with a jet of water supplied under pressure.
  • Shifting gears in the transmission is performed only with stationary equipment.
  • Before storing the cultivator, you must shut off the fuel supply line and drain the remaining gasoline from the tank. Metal surfaces are wiped clean from moisture; the unit should be stored in a dry, ventilated area.
  • The instructions contain a maintenance schedule with a list of routine maintenance. To ensure trouble-free operation, it is recommended to follow the instructions provided in the documentation.
  • When operating the cultivator, safety regulations must be observed; adjustments must be made after turning off the engine.

Motor cultivator Neva MK-80 – equipment and parameters

The Neva motor-cultivator in this configuration has small dimensions, which simplifies its transportation and use in confined spaces. The main functions of the model are high-quality plowing of the soil, removal of weeds, assistance in caring for flower beds. When performing any task, the equipment shows modest fuel consumption and high efficiency in any weather.

The Neva cultivator consists of reliable metal parts that are resistant to wear and corrosion. Its design includes small pneumatic wheels for easy movement on hard surfaces. The main element of the model is the Robin-Subaru engine, operating under the control of an air cooling system. If necessary, it can be replaced with a more efficient liquid cooling system. To start the engine, the device is equipped with a manual starter. The gearbox, gear-chain transmission and oil-filled gearbox are responsible for transmitting engine torque.

This cultivator with a Subaru engine has the following parameters:

  • power – 3.5 l. With.;
  • fuel tank capacity – 2.5 l;
  • plowing width – 60 cm;
  • soil tillage depth – 16 cm;
  • weight – 55 kg.

Due to the lack of a power take-off shaft, the range of attachments for the model is significantly limited. In the basic configuration, the Neva cultivator is equipped with two cutters. To increase the width of the area to be gripped during work, you can install an additional pair of cutters on it.

Advantages and disadvantages of the manufacturer

The advantages of the equipment, according to reviews from owners, include the use of power units with increased power and torque. Installing additional wheels on the cultivator allows you to tow a trailer; weights are needed to improve traction with the ground, but the plant does not produce them. Some modifications have wheels of reduced diameter, which reduce the weight of the unit. But due to their small size, the rollers sink into loose soil, making it difficult for the cultivator to move.

The advantage of Neva cultivators is their overall dimensions, allowing the equipment to be placed in the luggage compartment of a passenger car. The kit includes additional tools (the list depends on the modification and release date of the equipment). The disadvantage of the installations is the increased cost (compared to Chinese manufacturers).

Comparison of Neva with Husqvarna

There is now a huge selection of equipment on the motorcycle market. How not to get lost in this huge variety of motor cultivators, because each of them has its own characteristics, features, disadvantages and advantages. Later in the review we will try to decide which is better - the Neva or the Swedish-made Husqvarna cultivator.

It is known that foreign manufacturers are famous for their good technology. Equipment for the garden, vegetable garden, and land cultivation is no exception. Reviews about Husqvarna motor cultivators are very different. Some are very satisfied, while others prefer domestic equipment due to the availability of service and spare parts.

Advantages of Husqvarna cultivators

  • the presence of shields on the cutters (only some models);
  • there is no need to add oil to the gearbox - according to the manufacturer, the lubricant in the gearbox is enough for the entire operating period of the unit;
  • the cultivator handle folds, saving space during storage;
  • There is a carrying handle (only for compact models).

Disadvantages of Husqvarna cultivators:

  • heavy weight of heavy vehicles;
  • devices with a chain drive - do not “react” well to stones getting into the cutters, the chain often breaks;
  • machines with worm gears are not equipped with reverse gear.
  • As we can see from the review, the characteristics of the Neva are in no way inferior to the Husqvarna. Like their foreign “colleagues,” Russian-made cultivators have motors from well-known companies, reverse gear and oil-filled gearboxes.

A tangible advantage of the Neva, of course, is the price, which is an order of magnitude lower, even for heavy models of cultivators.

general information

The new GX270 features variable ignition timing (Digital CDI), higher compression ratio, improved carburetor performance and a lightweight piston. The result is increased power and torque levels with improved fuel efficiency and reduced noise and vibration levels.

Dimensions and appearance remain virtually unchanged to ensure 100% interchangeability with older GX270 engines. For the same reason, the engine name remains the same, but all new models are numbered "2" in the series (T2 or UT2), and older versions are numbered "1" (GX270 K1/T1/UT1).

In 2014, Honda introduced a "high rake" version of the GX. The GX270, GX340 and GX390 are now available for multi-purpose use, including providing power to walk-behind tractors.

Honda GX-270 CDI engines have new features:

  • A special one-way valve integrated into the cylinder head improves oil return flow and guarantees optimal lubrication in inclined conditions.
  • The diaphragm fuel pump, protected by a bracket, and adapted fuel line routing ensure optimal fuel consumption.
  • The fuel limit indicator and carburetor with internal vent prevent overfilling and guarantee safe operation under all conditions.

Honda GX270 CDI engines produce 8.5 hp. (actual - 8.4HP) at 3600 rpm. and torque of 19.1 Nm at 2500 rpm.

Efficient gas consumption

The CDI digital ignition system with variable timing and increased compression ratio, combined with the precision shaft design of the Honda GX270, provides precise valve timing and optimal valve overlap for improved gasoline efficiency.

Video

  • Konstantin, Sverdlovsk. An excellent walk-behind tractor for the money, I use it eight hours a day. In general, I love Russian technology for its simple design and cheap spare parts. According to these indicators, our cultivators and walk-behind tractors are beyond competition. True, recently the Neva MK-100 began to be made from Chinese spare parts. But they are also cheap, but the quality is noticeably poor. In terms of reliability, the cultivator of stars from the sky is not enough, like any other Russian or Chinese competitor. I was pleased with the fuel consumption of up to 2 liters per hour.
  • Kirill, Yaroslavl. I have a lot in common with this walk-behind tractor. I got it from my father. The MK-100 model is unpretentious to use, and if you have direct hands, it will not cause any special worries. I service it regularly in the garage, every time after work. 8-year-old equipment requires an eye and an eye.
  • Mikhail, Krasnoyarsk. This cultivator allows you to cope with the cultivation of various types of soil in the shortest possible time. In addition, it is possible to work at great depths if weights are installed. I consider one of the main disadvantages of the Neva MK-100 model to be a rather weak 5-horsepower engine and wheels that wear out quickly. The tread wears out in half a season, and this is in the best case. In general, the tires are of very low quality; I have already replaced a dime a dozen sets. But they are cheap, and that’s the only thing that doesn’t put me off from purchasing them again.
  • Leonid, Perm region. I decided to purchase the Neva MK-100 model for my 15 acres. The machine effectively processes the soil, and it is a pleasure to plant vegetables, plow the ground and transport various loads. Breakdowns occur infrequently, gasoline consumption is 1 liter per hour.
  • Alexey, Tomsk. A good cultivator for cultivating small areas. For example, I have 20 acres, and I feel that the Neva MK-100 still has a performance reserve. The cultivator consumes within 1-2 liters per hour. You can work with the walk-behind tractor for 8 hours before the next refueling.
  • Anton, Lipetsk. I have been using this cultivator for three years. The car never broke down majorly. I mainly change only consumables - oil, fuel, filters and tires. Before purchasing, it was immediately tested, as recommended by the manufacturer himself. The equipment consumes 1-2 liters on average, and supports cheap 92nd gasoline.

Running in individual models

Let's consider this process on walk-behind tractors of individual brands.

Oka with Lifan engine

This model must be run in for 30 hours. During this time, all elements are ground in under light operating conditions and defects are identified. The new unit with the Lifan engine must operate at minimal loads during testing.

When testing a walk-behind tractor during functional operations, the following requirements are met:

  • the soil is processed to a depth of 10 cm in one pass in one direction;
  • the throttle valve should be open 2/3 of its full travel;
  • On clay soil, a walk-behind tractor under load should operate for no more than 2 hours.

In addition, before each start of the engine it is necessary to check the oil level. If there is a shortage, top up to a level above the minimum mark on the dipstick.

Neva with Subaru engine

This model, like the MB-2 models with other engines, is run in for 20 hours. This time is quite enough for the parts to get used to ideal working condition, and also for defects to appear in them. It is unacceptable to overload the device with a large load during this period.

When running in, the following should be observed:

  • cultivate the soil with a full set of cutters in several approaches to a depth of up to 10 cm in one pass;
  • load the walk-behind tractor with a load of no more than 200 kg;
  • Before starting the engine, check the oil level and, if there is a shortage, top up above the minimum mark on the dipstick;
  • refuel the unit with fuel of the required brand and proper quality.

You should also regularly check the drive belt tension. We must not forget about the release element of the left chassis of the walk-behind tractor.

Centaur

A unit of this brand is run in subject to strict rules. Their implementation extends the life of the walk-behind tractor as a whole.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=0a8X4fc3lBM

Running in the new air-cooled Centaur is carried out according to the following algorithm:

  • The motor is loaded in stages: it should work at a third of its technical capabilities in the first three hours.
  • After the first three hours of break-in, the engine oil and transmission fluid are drained from the transmission units.
  • For the next 4 hours of testing, the engine is loaded to 2/3 of its technical capabilities.

During operation, the permissible loads are monitored. Maintenance and routine repairs are regularly carried out within the time periods allotted by the manufacturer.

Firework

The Salyut-100 walk-behind tractor is being run in at medium speeds. The first soil cultivation is carried out with 4 cutters. They are gradually buried lower with each pass. Cultivation is performed with a coulter.

After every 30 minutes of work, take a 10-minute break. After the first 4 hours of operation, the engine oil is changed. The oil in the gear unit is changed after the walk-behind tractor has been run-in.

Agate

For this model, 25 hours of running-in of parts is sufficient. During this period, the device must not be turned on at full load. It is also prohibited to overload it with loads during testing.

When running in, strictly adhere to the following standards:

  • when testing functional modes, it is necessary to cultivate the area in 2-3 passes, deepening the cutters no more than 10 cm in one pass;
  • the throttle valve opens ¾ of its full stroke;
  • idle operation of the engine should not exceed 10 minutes;
  • check and top up the oil level in the engine.

In the further process of operation, reliability in the operation of the listed models of walk-behind tractors is ensured by systematic maintenance and routine repair work. This necessarily includes changing the oil and transmission fluid.

Possible malfunctions, repairs

Malfunctions in the operation of the cultivator often arise due to negligence during the operation of the equipment, or neglect of the manufacturer’s recommendations.

If you have problems starting the engine, pay attention to the following points:

  • amount of fuel and oil
  • compliance with the startup sequence of actions prescribed in the instructions
  • excessively harsh handling of the clutch lever
  • spark plug condition
  • low ambient temperature
  • cultivator tilt angle.

In case of slipping:

  • amount of fuel
  • filter cleanliness
  • insufficient weight of the cultivator
  • the ground is too hard.

Belts for the Neva walk-behind tractor

Basically, Neva walk-behind tractors use V-belt drives. There are a large number of them presented. And for each individual walk-behind tractor, you should know the belt that needs to be used.

Replacing the belt on the Neva walk-behind tractor:

  • Remove the shield, unscrew the two bolts (7) and remove the protective casing from the pulleys (6);
  • Remove the reverse belt (3) by removing the spring (8), loosening the bolt (2) of the guide pulley;
  • Unscrew the screws (5) holding the bracket (a);
  • Position the bracket so that the pins allow the front pass belt (10) to be removed from the pulley;
  • Put a new belt in its place (first it is put on the gearbox pulley, then on the engine pulley);
  • Reassemble everything in reverse order.

Adjust the belt tension! When the clutch levers are released, the belts should sag freely, and the gear pulley should not rotate when the engine is running.

Pulleys are designed to tension transmission belts. There are a large number of them on the Russian market. To replace a pulley, you need to measure its diameter. The following sizes are available: 18, 20 and 25.4 mm.

Owner reviews

What reviews did the Neva MK70-B5.0 RS motor-cultivator receive from its owners? Let's find out about this by reading the opinions of farmers who have already purchased and tested this equipment.

Anton, Transcarpathia:

“I bought the MK70 because of its compactness and small size. Even my wife used it during the season; she says it’s easy to operate and her hands don’t hurt after use. Our plot is small, only 10 acres, but they plowed it with a bang. The motor-cultivator does not weigh down in the ground and moves along the surface without distortions. There is no reverse speed, but this does not bother me - I turn the equipment myself, the weight of the unit allows it. I recommend you to buy, it’s a good, powerful and excellent walk-behind tractor for the price.”
