The VTZ tractor is produced at the production facilities of the tractor plant in the city of Vladimir. The enterprise began to be built in 1943, and in the summer of 1944 the assembly of Universal tractors began. At first, production took place in the open air, and by 1949 the plant reached its planned capacity.

The product range of the Vladimir plant includes self-propelled chassis, wheeled tractors and diesel engines. The most popular models are the VTZ-2048 agricultural machine and self-propelled chassis 30/50СШ.

VTZ-2048

A wheeled tractor, which according to its technical characteristics belongs to the category of 0.9 ton machines. The tractor uses several modifications of the D-130 diesel engine. The engines are equipped with a compressor for the air system and a separate line designed to supply oil to the cabin heater radiator. The power reserve allows you to operate the machine with mounted and trailed equipment designed for LTZ and MTZ machines with a traction category of up to 1.4 tons.

The tractor is equipped with a manual gearbox with a reversible gearbox, allowing the use of 6 gears for moving forward and backward. The box has 2 low gears, which are designed for forward movement in difficult road conditions. At the rear of the box there is a shank for the drive shaft of the additional equipment. The shank is equipped with replaceable nozzles that differ in diameter and number of splines.

The machine operator is located in a cabin designed for one person. The cabin frame is made of steel profile, ensuring structural strength. Access is through 2 side doors. The windshield is heated with warm air, the rear is equipped with electric heating.

Depending on the type of cabin, the plant supplies machine modifications:

  • 2248 - with a frame cabin, covered with an awning on top, no side walls and glass;
  • 2348 — reinforced safety cage installed;
  • 2448 - equipped with safety bars.

All modifications are equipped with the same chassis with the ability to step by step change the track width.

The standard hydraulic system is equipped with a gear pump located on the clutch housing. The power steering is operated by a separate metering pump. The supply of fluid for the operation of hydraulic systems is located in a single supply tank.

Tractor maintenance

When working on special equipment, you need to know the maintenance rules:

  • it is necessary to check the functionality of the work lights;
  • keep the tractor clean, wipe the steps and engine from oil to avoid injury and fire;
  • close the cover on the RTO when not in use;
  • It is prohibited to carry out any repairs while the power unit is running.

VTZ-2048A

The difference between the VTZ-2048A tractor is the front drive axle. The drive is carried out by a cardan shaft connected to an additional gearbox on the gearbox housing. The drive is equipped with a differential that automatically engages the front axle when the wheels of the rear axle slip.

The technical characteristics of the machine are provided by a 3-cylinder 45-horsepower diesel engine D-130 produced by the Vladimir plant. The engine is equipped with forced air cooling. An axial fan and a guide casing with deflectors are used to supply air. Torque is transmitted to the box by a 2-disc dry friction clutch.

The tractor is supplied with a closed cabin or with a frame structure equipped with an awning. Upon request, it is possible to install a protective power frame. History of creation

This model, launched into production in 2001, replaced the T-45 “Vladimirets” family of tractors, inheriting from them the engine, simplicity of design and good performance. At the same time, the plant’s design bureau tried to make the VTZ-2048A more universal, significantly expanding the scope of its application and eliminating all the shortcomings that were identified during the years of operation of the T-45.

It should be noted that changing the name of the enterprise in 2003 to “motor-tractor” was completely justified. Indeed, from the very beginning of their work to this day, Vladimir tractors are equipped with diesel engines only of their own design, which are produced right there.

And the history of Vladimir tractors began in the war year of 1943, when it was decided to build a new enterprise for the production of wheeled tractors, on the northern outskirts of the city, behind the old Yuryevskaya outpost.

The plant began to produce products in an unfinished state - in the spring-summer season of 1944, tractors were assembled here right in the open air. Fierce fighting continued on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. But by the date of its opening (April 25, 1945), the enterprise had already produced more than five hundred Universal-2 tractors (the Soviet analogue of the American Farmall).

All subsequent tractor models were created by the plant's own design bureau. These are the cabless “DT-24” (1955-1958) and “T-28” (1958-1965) - by the way, cotton-growing modifications of these agricultural machines continued to be produced for the Uzbek SSR in the 70s and even in the 80s of the twentieth century century.

This is a multifunctional, compact, most popular tractor of the T-25 Vladimirets enterprise (840 thousand units of this equipment have been produced since 1972). This is also a direct “relative”, the ancestor of the “VTZ-2048A” - the T-45 “Vladimirets” tractor.

While maintaining the same small dimensions, it became much more powerful than the T-45. And he could already compete in performance with stronger “high school students” - “T-40” by Lipetsk Minsky.

These important qualities ( compactness, versatility and efficiency combined with solid power ) were continued in the modern model of the Vladimir motor-tractor.

This model went into series production in 2001, and, along with the even more modern development of the design bureau, it became very popular in the market of Russia and other republics of the former Union. Both one and the other modern “Vladimirets” were created with an eye on their “classmates” of European and Chinese production, and with the determination to surpass them both in performance characteristics and in attractiveness in price.

Unlike most Soviet agricultural engineering enterprises, the Vladimir Motor and Tractor Plant in the 2000s continued not only to produce products, but also to develop. However, in the 2010s, the enterprise, included in the Agromash/Tractor Plants hodling, plunged into a protracted crisis. As a result, the plant was closed and finally liquidated in July 2022. “VTZ-2048A”, like a number of other new developments, remained in the rank of “promising”, without receiving a worthy continuation.

VTZ-2032

The VTZ-2032 tractor is unified in a number of elements with the 2048 machine. The difference is the installation of a 2-cylinder 30-horsepower diesel engine D-120. The technical characteristics of the engine are sufficient for the tractor to comply with the 0.6 t towing class. An electric starter is used to start the engine. In winter, starting is facilitated by glow plugs installed in the cylinders. Early models are equipped with an incoming air heater located in the intake manifold.

The tractor uses a reversible transmission providing 6 speeds. An additional 2 forward speeds are used when working with loaded attachments that require high traction.

The tractor is used in public utilities. The plant produces modifications equipped with brush equipment and bulldozer blades. The customer can purchase a chassis without a hitch and complete the machine themselves.

When operating special equipment, you must follow the following safety rules:

  • you need to operate the equipment only in the operator’s chair, wearing special clothing and a hard helmet;
  • To keep the tractor under control, it is necessary to maintain the recommended speed;
  • when starting to move, you need to slowly release the clutch;
  • on uneven surfaces you need to reduce speed;
  • when moving, you must not jump on or off the tractor;
  • At the end of the work, to stop the tractor, you need to press the brake, turn off the ignition and set the parking brake.

VTZ-2032A

Option with 2 axle drive. The front axle engages automatically when the rear axle starts to slip. To turn the wheels, a hydraulic mechanism equipped with a cylinder with two rods is used. The gearbox is equipped with an accessory drive shaft with an independent operating principle. The shaft provides a rotation speed of 540 rpm.

When equipped, the tractor weighs 2500 kg. To improve the traction of wheels with the ground, ballast weights are used, placed on the front or rear of the frame. The hydraulic system is equipped with a pump for increased performance.

The fuel supply is stored in a tank installed under the operator's cabin. The cabin is closed, equipped with a heater, sun visor and adjustable seat.

VTZ-2027

The wheeled tractor with rear axle drive was a modernized version of the T-25/30. The car has been produced since 1996. The tractor is equipped with a cabin with an increased glass area and plastic tail. The operator's seat is adjustable and provides favorable working conditions. The tractor was equipped with a D-120 diesel engine.

The steering is of a mechanical type; a hydrostatic power amplifier is available upon request. There are cars with a frame cabin, equipped with an awning, and also equipped with a safety cage. Tractor production has been discontinued.

VTZ-50

Self-propelled chassis with a rear-mounted 3-cylinder D-130 power unit. The purpose of the machine is raking, loading and transporting bulk materials. The chassis can be used in municipal services for collecting and transporting waste.

The chassis consists of interconnected gearbox and engine crankcases. An open frame is installed at the front, on which the front axle is fixed. The VTZ tractor has been produced by the Vladimir plant for more than half a century. The first model of heavy wheeled agricultural machinery rolled off its assembly line back in 1945. In addition to tractors, VMTZ also supplies reliable diesel engines to the domestic market. The machines of this manufacturer are distinguished by their power and low cost. It is thanks to the optimal combination of price and quality that VTZ tractors have gained such enormous popularity among consumers.

At the moment, the VMTZ plant produces mainly tractors of the 2000 line. Diesel engines of this modern technology can have a power from 25 to 75 l/s.

VTZ T-30

A series of wheeled tractors for agricultural purposes. They were produced with rear axle drive or in a version with all drive wheels. The tractor was equipped with a D-120 diesel engine and a reverse gearbox with an additional speed reducer. The T-30A-80 modification was distinguished by the installation of a D-130 engine.

The tractor used mechanical steering; there are examples with a hydraulic drive. To stop the machine, separately controlled band brakes are used. The front axle suspension is on a balance beam, the rear axle is mounted rigidly.
