KamAZ 53504 is a truck tractor with a 6 by 6 layout. The vehicle is used for transporting goods on any type of road, including off-road. The most common version of KamAZ 53504 is a truck tractor. Various add-ons are also installed on the model’s chassis, expanding the scope of use of the equipment.

The model appeared as a result of a deep modernization of KamAZ 44108. Since 2013, the Kama Automobile Plant began serious transformations as part of the transition to models of the 4th environmental class. As a result, the new product received a unit with a Common Rail system and an improved transmission. Another innovation was the modern restyled cabin. The equipment was designed taking into account harsh climatic and road operating conditions. The result is a car with an attractive design and a high level of reliability.

KamAZ 53504 was included in the Mustang series product line, and its production continues today.

Modifications

KamAZ 53504 is available in several modifications. The most popular is the model in the format of a truck tractor (versions with the KamAZ 53504-46 index). Unified container bodies (K and KM lines), adapted for waste removal, and other special equipment are installed on the chassis.


Available configurations of the KamAZ 53504 tractor:

  • KamAZ 53504-6013-46 is a modification with an upper exhaust and a protective casing for the fuel tank. The vehicle has an increased level of protection and is intended for transporting dangerous goods. The ZF9 manual transmission is installed as a transmission;
  • KamAZ 53504-6020-46 - a more modern model with a KamAZ 154 gearbox and a KamAZ 740.662-300 unit;
  • KamAZ 53504-6030-46 is a modern variation, which in most respects is similar to the modification KamAZ 53504-6020-46. The main difference is the ZF9 transmission;
  • KamAZ 53504-6023-46 – model with KamAZ 154 gearbox, protective casing and upward exhaust;
  • KamAZ 53504-6910-46 – version with ZF9 transmission, ZF KOM power take-off (OMFB), protection casing and upper exhaust;
  • KamAZ 53504-6920-46 – modification with KamAZ 154 manual transmission, power take-off KOM ZF (OMFB), tank protective casing and upward exhaust.

Fuel consumption per 100 km
Each enterprise calculates its own standard units of KamAZ fuel consumption for every 100 km.

Experts rely on all-Russian indicators, which are spelled out in a document published in 2008. But at enterprises they are supplemented taking into account the specifics of the work and the severity of the goods transported. The document itself provides only recommendations, following which it is easy to independently calculate fuel consumption.

For Kama trucks, consumer fuel consumption is calculated using the following formula:

Qh=0.01*Hsanc*S*(1+0.01*D)+Hz*Z

The formula is deciphered as follows:

  • S – mileage;
  • Hsanc is the all-Russian fuel and lubricants consumption standard for Kama freight vehicles;
  • Hz shows how much fuel the car consumes when fully loaded;
  • Z – number of trips of a loaded vehicle over a certain period of time;
  • D – error coefficient.

Calculation of standards for dump trucks

For vehicles with a loading platform (dump trucks), a different formula is used:

Hsanc=Hs+Hw*(G pr +0.5*q)

The symbols in this formula mean the following parameters:

  • Hs – standard for fully loaded vehicles;
  • Hw – transport work coefficient;
  • Gpr – weight of the cargo platform;
  • q – platform load capacity.

There are also standard fuel consumption standards for KamAZ vehicles, taking into account the vehicle model, its modification and the seasonality of work. They correspond to the following parameters:

If the dump truck is used as a road train, the consumption of combustible materials will increase slightly. The number of additional liters depends on the engine type:

  • for gasoline engines, the consumption indicator increases by 2 liters;
  • for diesel engines – 1.3 liters;
  • for gas - 2.6 liters.

Calculation of fuel for on-board vehicles and tractors

The Kama Automobile Plant produces not only dump trucks, but also other types of cargo vehicles, which include flatbed vehicles and truck tractors. For them, consumer characteristics are calculated using the following formula:

  • Hsan – standard for fully loaded vehicles;
  • Hw shows how much fuel and lubricants are spent on transportation;
  • W – volume of work performed by the vehicle;
  • D – error coefficient.

These cars can also be equipped with various types of engines. Therefore, an additional number of liters must be added to the average number, as is the case with dump trucks.

The KamAZ 740.662-300 engine is equipped with most modifications of the KamAZ 53504. As part of global modernization, the unit replaced the KamAZ 740.55-300 engine (Euro-3). The diesel version with intercooling of the air mass, Common Rail system, electronic control and turbocharging added in terms of efficiency and environmental friendliness. Bosch fuel equipment was also used in the design of the unit.


KamAZ 740.662-300 parameters:

  • number of cylinders – 8 (V-shaped arrangement);

Some versions of KamAZ 53504 are equipped with a Cummins ISB 6.7 E5 300 engine that meets the requirements of the Euro-5 standard. The unit is assembled in Russia and is reliable. Turbocharging and the Common Rail system provide high levels of power and efficiency.

Characteristics of the Cummins ISB 6.7 E5 300 engine:

  • rated power – 215 (292) kW (hp);
  • maximum torque – 1087 Nm;
  • number of cylinders – 6 (in-line design);

The car is equipped with 2 fuel tanks (210 and 210 l or 210 and 350 l).

Device

KamAZ 53504 has a modern design that ensures compliance with current Russian and foreign standards applicable to vehicles of a similar class. The model is built on the basis of a 6 by 6 wheel formula. A spring-type suspension is installed in the front and rear parts. A special feature of KamAZ 53504 is the locking of the center differential, which allows you to feel free on the roads. The mechanism rigidly connects and locks the axles (front and rear) and transmits equal force, which makes it easier to overcome obstacles and sticky soil. A cross-axle differential is used to ensure equal rotation of wheels on the same axle.

There are 2 types of transmissions used for the car:

  • 10-speed manual transmission KamAZ 154 of our own production with mechanical remote control;
  • 9-speed manual transmission ZF 9S1310 with mechanical remote control.

Torque from the engine to the transmission is transmitted through a single-plate diaphragm clutch, complemented by a hydraulic drive with a pneumatic booster. The gearbox is characterized by a gear ratio of 6.53.

For KamAZ 53504, a 2-speed manual transfer case KamAZ 65111 with a locking center differential is available. Some modifications are equipped with a power take-off box model KOM ZF (OMFB).

The main braking system is represented by drum brakes with pneumatic drive. Drum diameter – 400 mm, brake lining width – 140 mm.

The electrical equipment of KamAZ 53504 is represented by a 3000 W generator and 2 batteries with a capacity of 190 Ah.

The series model is equipped with a new generation all-metal cabin installed above the unit. Among its main features are the high roof and modern design. The cabin has a sleeping area that allows you to travel long distances. An improved interior, ergonomic arrangement of working parts and a redesigned front panel add comfort to work. A new driver's seat with several adjustments (height, tilt, backrest curvature) is also installed in the cabin. Heating and ventilation systems allow you to operate equipment regardless of weather conditions.

KamAZ-53504: new generation truck tractor

The development of the model has been carried out since 2013, and already in 2016 KamAZ-53504 was launched into mass production. The vehicle is intended for transporting goods, both on general roads and off-road. In addition to truck tractors, on the basis of the chassis, flatbed trucks, military all-terrain vehicles, fuel tankers, truck cranes are produced, and other add-ons are installed that significantly expand the scope of use of the vehicle.

By its design, KamAZ-53504 is a three-axle frame chassis with a six-by-six wheel arrangement, spring suspension is installed on all axles. The car is equipped with an all-metal folding cabover cab, under which the engine is located.

An important innovation for the model was a modern, quite comfortable cabin with a high roof. The cabin accommodates two or three chairs with the ability to adjust the backrest in bend and tilt, as well as in the distance to the dashboard. Drivers note good noise and thermal insulation, the presence of a high-quality stove, but the manufacturer did not take care of the presence of air conditioning. Separately, it is worth mentioning the dashboard. It has acquired a more modern look, is more informative, and has an anti-reflective coating.

The price tag for the new KamAZ-53504 in the simplest configuration starts at 3,100,000 rubles and can reach up to 5,500,000 rubles. Used cars of this model are sold on the market in limited quantities; trucks produced in 2016-17 can be purchased at a price of 2.3 - 2.75 million rubles.
