John Deere introduces new 8R tractor series
]John Deere[/anchor] is the first farm equipment manufacturer to release a line of standard tractors with three different undercarriage options—the new 8R series of wheeled tractors, the dual-track 8RT models and the newest four-track 8RX models.
The new range with 15 models offers a new comfortable luxury interior. The tractor's distinctive appearance was developed in collaboration with experts at BMW Designworks in California.
Unique in its category, the 8RX Series has been designed to provide maximum soil protection without compromising productivity. Accordingly, models in this series compact the soil the least, have a width of less than 3 m and can move at a speed of 40 km/h. These models are characterized by increased maneuverability and do not damage the soil when turning.
Unlike traditional models with two tracks, 8RX series tractors operate more stable on slopes and fields with complex contours and perform well in any soil moisture due to the ability of the track carriage to self-clean and eliminate the possibility of slipping of the drive wheels relative to the track. Track widths are available from 16 to 30 inches (41 to 76 cm), resulting in a total footprint of more than 4.5 m2.
These newest 8R Series tractors retain the proven and fuel efficient 9.0L John Deere PowerTech PVS & PSS engines, with an increase of 40 HP. in the 8RT 410. Changes include a Visco cooling fan and moving the engine auxiliary systems forward. The new design reduces thermal impact, further reducing operating costs.
Existing transmission options include the classic 16/5 PowerShift, now available in all models up to and including the 8R 340, and the modern e23 with Efficiency Manager. The rear brakes have been significantly strengthened so that the front brakes are no longer needed even at speeds above 40 km/h, although additional front brakes can still be ordered. 8R Series tractors are now available with a standard 1300 front axle, which is designed for special applications and is in demand in many countries, as well as a heavy-duty 1500 Series axle, which allows for twin-axle operation, and an ILS independent suspension axle, which improves the tractor's towing capacity by up to 10%.
Operators will appreciate the all-new cabin design, which features a high-tech seat with perforated leather trim, heating, active air circulation, a dual-zone massage system, and a variety of electric and pneumatic adjustable seat elements. In addition, the award-winning Active Seat II suspension has been improved with improved response and vibration damping compared to the first generation system.
Long workdays and nights are made easier with a larger built-in refrigerator that doubles its capacity to 11 liters to store plenty of refreshing drinks and snacks, and an LED lighting system that is 60% brighter. A 6.1 sound system with subwoofer provides the highest quality concert hall sound, while a 6.5-inch DAB+ touchscreen radio gives you access to the latest entertainment and information, and is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Other interior improvements that have been made in response to customer requests include a wider opening angle and lower door handle position, as well as auto-cancelling turn indicators. In addition, the air conditioning system has been moved under the cab. This not only increases the cabin ceiling height, but also reduces cabin noise levels while the heating and cooling system's performance has nearly doubled.
The revolutionary AutoTrac automated control system, including the integrated StarFire 6000 satellite receiver, has been optimized and wireless data transmission to the John Deere control center is free for five years. Field boundaries, guidance lines and other settings, as well as crop planning and documentation, are quickly and securely set up using this web-based platform.
AutoSetup is a completely new, revolutionary feature that allows you to download all the data required for individual jobs directly into the tractor system. This greatly simplifies the process, the tractor is ready for use in the field much faster, and the possibility of incorrect settings is eliminated. AutoSetup will be available shortly after the first tractors of the new 8R series go on sale in Europe.
Tractors can also be monitored remotely using the JDLink telematics system upon customer request, ensuring maximum uptime. If the customer additionally agrees to use Expert Alerts, potential breakdowns can be predicted and the likelihood of costly repairs can be reduced or eliminated entirely.
