Kingdom of large mirrors: test drive of the new Mercedes-Benz Actros

Mercedes-Benz Actros SFTP is a range of tractor units and heavy loads. Their weight ranges from 18 to 25 tons. This reliable Mercedes-Benz Actros SFTP underwent design and appearance changes in 2003, and has been on sale since 1996. At the moment, a number of varieties of truck tractors are produced, which differ from each other in wheel formulas (4×2, 4×4, 6×4, and also 6×2). There are two chassis options for cars up to 35 tons of total weight and formulas (4×2, 6×2). They can be equipped with different body options.

Mercedes-Benz Actros SFTP differ from similar cars in the presence of a specialized electronic control system for technical equipment - “Telligent”. This system analyzes data in real time from sensors mounted on various vehicle components, monitors wear and performance of the engine, brake system and transmission. This system makes it possible to operate Mercedes-Benz Actros SFTP between services for up to 150,000 km.

Transportation of goods over long distances

If you want to be one step ahead of your competitors, then purchasing a Mercedes-Benz Actros SFTP will be an excellent solution, which provides high performance on the road and also has a positive impact on the company’s reports.

The Mercedes-Benz Actros SFTP has every chance to gain leadership in these aspects. It makes it possible to obtain comfort at a high level. The car also guarantees a high level of safety, ease of operation and a good feeling for the driver while driving this vehicle.

Mercedes-Benz Actros SFTP is represented by a large model range, so it is possible to choose a configuration that will be optimal for the needs and budget of the company, and will also suit the needs of long-distance transportation.

This type of car also transports super-heavy loads well. The tractors have a reliable design, special design and operational versatility. All this allows you to transport cargo weighing up to 250 tons.

Mercedes-Benz Actros Edition 2. Limited to 400 copies

In January 2022, European carriers were presented with a new version of the Mercedes-Benz Actros, called Edition 2. It is worth recalling that this highway was released in Edition 1 two and a half years ago. Moreover, it was then produced in a limited edition of 400 copies, which, naturally, were sold out to customers a long time ago. A tractor with this configuration is clearly not for the tight-fisted: it is equipped with literally everything you need for increased comfort, safety and efficiency. Only additional equipment for the interior and exterior includes four dozen items!

First of all, we note that the Mercedes-Benz Actros Edition 2 was equipped with a safety package with several active driver assistance systems, a comfort package with LED lighting, a shaving mirror, a refrigerator and many other comfort-enhancing elements, a leather steering wheel, electric sun blinds, bi-xenon headlights, rain sensors, LED taillights, and a media package with a premium sound system, laptop holder and an additional 12/15 V power outlet.

To increase the level of safety, the Mercedes-Benz Actros Edition 2 is equipped with the fifth generation Active Brake Assist (ABA 5), a partially automated driving system (SAE level 2), MirrorCam rear view cameras, as well as an auxiliary system for detecting pedestrians and cyclists in the right blind zone.

Contributing to fuel efficiency is the Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) system, which automatically accelerates or brakes the tractor in advance in accordance with the terrain. And the new logistics application HABBL allows you to increase the efficiency of transportation, making it possible to integrate both trucks from your own fleet and trucks from the fleets of subcontractors into the dispatch process. This application facilitates tracking the fulfillment of orders and ensures communication with drivers, while simultaneously providing the necessary information for all participants in the transport process: drivers, dispatchers and end customers.

In addition, the Mercedes-Benz Actros Edition 2 was equipped with a fully automatic telematic diagnostic system Mercedes-Benz Uptime, which monitors the operation of more than 40 of its systems and units in real time, issuing appropriate recommendations. Such monitoring not only helps avoid predictable breakdowns, but can also cut the number of unscheduled service visits by half by consolidating repair and maintenance requests.

It remains to add that in the Edition 2 version, as in the Edition 1 version, the company plans to produce only four hundred Mercedes-Benz Actros. So, already at the moment of the appearance of these cars, they can rightfully be called a real exclusive on the long-haul truck market.

Mercedes Actros MY2019: more than 60 innovations

The world premiere of the updated flagship from Mercedes-Benz Trucks took place in Berlin. The new Actros is the first heavy-duty truck to feature partially automated driving as standard.

Mikhail Ozherelyev
On the eve of the IAA 2018 International Commercial Vehicle Salon, which will be held in Hannover in the last ten days of September, Mercedes-Benz Trucks presented the updated flagship of the brand to the world press. The new Actros improves safety for all road users, improves the profitability of carriers and makes the driver's work more comfortable.

The most important advantage of the presented new product is the Active Drive Assist driving assistant. The truck can brake, accelerate and change its trajectory automatically. The advanced system offers semi-automated driving across the entire speed range, a first for a production truck. Reaching a new level of automation is provided by a complex of the most modern sensors, radars, stereo cameras and computing devices.

The new Actros differs from its predecessor visually: conventional rear-view mirrors are replaced by video cameras, which are offered as standard equipment. Camera mirrors significantly improve aerodynamics and visibility. The all-round visibility system consists of two cameras installed outside the cabin and two 15-inch displays located on the windshield pillars inside.

Serious improvements have also been achieved in terms of efficiency. The new Actros, compared to the current generation, reduces fuel consumption by 3% when driving on motorways and by up to 5% on regional routes. Aerodynamic improvements have been achieved, in particular, thanks to new cab side deflectors. In addition, the intelligent cruise control Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) has become more effective than before - thanks to more comprehensive map data, it can now also be used on regional routes.

“With more than 60 innovations, the new Actros represents the future of heavy trucks on the road today,” says Stefan Buschner, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler Trucks and Head of Mercedes-Benz Trucks. “Efficiency in the new Actros lies in lower operating costs, safety and always being ready to work.”

Orders for the new generation model will begin to be accepted at the start of the IAA 2022 exhibition. The first cars will be delivered to customers in the spring of next year.

World premiere from Mercedes-Benz – New Actros

Reduce fuel consumption by up to 5%

Fuel consumption in the new Actros is again reduced compared to previous models. Savings are up to 3% on highways and up to 5% on country roads. The MirrorCam system, which replaces side mirrors with cameras, and new side spoilers have improved the aerodynamic properties of the car. Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) now works significantly more efficiently and can also be used for country driving thanks to additional maps. New, fuel-efficient rear axle ratios are also used.

First production truck with Mirror Cams instead of outside mirrors for increased safety and efficiency

The new Actros replaces the main and wide-angle mirrors with Mirror Cams as standard. Mirror Cam is an incredible breakthrough in terms of aerodynamics, safety and driving. This system provides significantly improved all-round visibility and consists of two cameras mounted outside the vehicle and two 15-inch displays on the A-pillars inside the cabin.

Active Brake Assist 5: a new generation of emergency braking system

Active Brake Assist 5 helps drivers in the event of a possible collision with a moving vehicle or with a pedestrian who is crossing in front of the vehicle, walking towards it or moving in the same lane. If necessary, the system initiates maximum braking to a complete stop. Today, Active Brake Assist 5 is a combination of radar and camera system. This allows the system to monitor the space in front of the vehicle even better and respond even faster. All driver support systems in every Mercedes-Benz vehicle always operate to the fullest extent of their capabilities in all circumstances. Taking into account road conditions, full responsibility remains with the driver.

Connectivity and intuitive operation thanks to Multimedia Cockpit and other new features

Equipped with a completely new Multimedia Cockpit system, the new Actros offers the driver an unprecedented level of convenience and display comfort. In the digital cockpit of the future, the central source of information is two interactive screens included as standard. These screens display data from driver support systems, as well as all the basic information the driver needs. The new Actros offers an ideal connectivity interface: smartphones can be connected using Apple CarPlayTM or Android Auto. Applications will help the driver in performing transport tasks. The Truck Data Center ensures its constant connection to the cloud and creates a base for connecting any devices. Real-time truck health monitoring via Fleetboard and Mercedes-Benz Uptime provides business owners with additional benefits. The driver will also be pleased to see how much easier his job has become thanks to the new remote control key included as standard.

Harmony of functionality and aesthetics: the progressive interior and exterior design of the new Actros

The interior of the new Actros has been systematically developed based on the driver's needs, according to the principle "from inside to outside". The result is a modern truck interior. At the forefront of the design development process was the new driver perception. This perception is embodied in the new Multimedia Cockpit concept, which brings the Actros into the digital era. Touch functions, widescreen displays, as well as surface details, trim elements and just a few remaining analogue switches are all hallmarks of the modern, high-quality interior of the new Mercedes-Benz flagship truck.

As for the exterior, the absence of the usual exterior mirrors gives the Actros even more integrity. The dynamic style of the MirrorCam and the distinctive appearance of the LED headlights create the progressive appearance of the new Mercedes-Benz Actros.

Innovation for construction sites: the power of the new Actros embodied in the new Arocs

Reduced overall costs, a high level of safety and maximum useful vehicle life – these factors also play a vital role when it comes to transporting goods on a construction site. That's why many of the features of the new Actros have been incorporated into the new Arocs. For example, every Arocs is equipped as standard with the advanced Predictive Powertrain Control system, the benefits of which are especially evident in the construction sector, which is characterized by frequent, often short, intercity routes.

The driver assistance systems in every Mercedes-Benz vehicle always work to the fullest extent of their capabilities in all situations.
Taking into account road conditions, full responsibility remains with the driver. At the IAA 2018 International Motor Show for Commercial Vehicles and Solutions, Daimler AG presented the world with the new Mercedes-Benz Actros, which instantly attracts everyone's attention with its characteristic headlight contour and futuristic Mirror Cam.

The new Actros is a truck whose series production includes the latest innovations, and this immediately pays off. It offers increased efficiency for business owners and comfort for drivers at a level previously thought unattainable: fuel consumption has been markedly reduced, while safety and truck uptime have increased even further.

To achieve this, we made maximum use of the opportunities offered by digital technologies. This applies in particular to the new Multimedia Cockpit, a completely new interface between driver and truck. The driver receives a workstation with seamless device connectivity, digital services and driver support systems that is intuitive to use and makes the driver's work even more efficient. Digital technology is also making the work of fleet managers and planning teams easier. Actros' universal connectivity interface allows them to monitor trucks in real time without interruptions or delays. This allows, for example, to organize both all necessary maintenance and logistics processes, as well as a quick response in emergency cases.

The new Actros is available for orders from the start of the IAA 2022. The first cars will reach their owners next spring. Actros will be available in a large number of trim levels, so each customer will be able to order exactly the car that will fully meet his needs.
