The VP 05 forklift handles the process of picking up, lifting and lowering loads with a total weight of up to 5,000 kg. It is convenient to transport goods over short distances using a forklift. The shape of the glass is “blown” - they are not perfectly smooth, but slightly curved upward. The driver's feet have two pedals that allow the loader to move smoothly and slow down.

The control levers for connected mechanisms are located on the right hand of the driver on a special armrest.

Fuel

The TVEX forklift consumes 13.4 liters of diesel fuel during a working hour.

Machine structure

Structurally, the boom is made up of several components. A carriage of a movable structure is attached to the upper mechanism. The mounting points for the carriage are the load chain and the boom base. During the stroke of the hydraulic cylinders, the process of lifting the carriage is 2 times faster.

This process reduces the need to raise the mast, which is in a stable position. The engine's operating power is transmitted to the pump unit, which supplies pressure to the cylinders, hydraulic brakes and power steering. The cabin is very close to the forks.

The engine is installed behind the driver's back, outside the cabin.

Almost everyone probably knows about two sticks of crispy cookies affectionately called “Twix”. What TVEX is is still known to few initiates. And although there is generally no mystery behind this new brand, to say that TVEX is a five-ton forklift is to say nothing. And there is something to talk about here. But let's start with a question. Do you think it is possible today at a Russian plant to master mass production of a new generation of loaders in three months? It turns out yes: on January 19, 2000, the first one was assembled at Tver Excavator Plant OJSC, in March they produced 15, in May - 40, in June - 60. And the loaders are being sold out so much that the paint barely has time to dry.

To spite an arrogant neighbor

The demand for TVEXs on the Russian market has exceeded all expectations. In the former Soviet Union, only the Lviv plant made five-ton forklifts. In 1990 - 1992, 17 thousand cars were produced there per year. Now they collect 10, at most 15 pieces per month. So for the entire 1999, 170 units were produced in the Ukrainian state. Lviv loaders, produced for more than 20 years without changes, today can be purchased for 290-300 thousand rubles, but buyers are waiting in line to buy the Tver one for 360 thousand. And not at all to spite the arrogant neighbor. They are attracted by the modern design, comfort, and, of course, technical characteristics. But first things first.

A little history

The Tver Excavator Plant began producing loaders only a year ago. Need forced me. The Lvov machines that were used in production over time (as befits any technology) wore out and required increasing costs for repairs. And Lviv is abroad, the spare parts are imported - be so kind as to pay customs duties. And a year and a half ago, the plant management set a task for its specialists: to develop and build loaders for their own needs. But soon the fairy tale is told, but not soon the deed is done.

The task turned out to be not easy. Take, for example, lifting forks – what’s so complicated about them? Part bent 90 degrees. But in fact, the requirements for their material are very stringent. Appropriate forging, bending and hardening equipment is required. By definition, these operations cannot be performed haphazardly. Problems also arose with the acquisition of standard profiles for the forklift guides. Metallurgical plants agreed to supply I-beams only in large quantities - at least 500-800 tons. Why so much? And the factory began to produce the guides themselves. and it turned out that even to produce the first batch of machines for our own needs, route technology was required for the manufacture of each part and the assembly of components as a whole.

When they tested the first assembled loader, and it became clear that it turned out well, the plant management decided to make loaders not only for themselves, but also for sale.

The car was named VP-05. They released it for almost a year. And when they realized that they had found a niche in the market, they decided to develop and launch production of an improved model. Fortunately, the experience gained made it possible to improve the technical solution of many components. And they decided to give the loader itself a new shape: it is no secret that it is the appearance of any product that largely determines the buyer’s attitude towards it. The development of the design project was entrusted to Gennady Syshchenko, the number one specialist in the design of road construction machines in Russia. And he performed his work at the level of world standards.

They greet you by their clothes. But, as they say, “dress up a tree stump on a clear day...” What about the unity of form and content? And what is the actual benefit of the streamlined shape: after all, a loader is not a racing car? But it turns out there is some benefit. This shape not only pleases the eye, but also significantly increases maneuverability in cramped conditions. Whether it's a workshop or a warehouse. And this is not the only highlight of TVEX.

A whole kilogram of raisins

There are at least “per kilogram” of highlights in the loader. Those knowledgeable in hydraulics will be pleased to learn about hydrostatic transmission. Widely used by leading companies such as Linde, Kalmar, Toyota, hydrostatic transmission has not yet become widespread in Russian technology. And TVEX has already improved it - they have completely eliminated the throttle control circuit, which in the VP-05 caused significant power losses. Now in the hydraulic system, instead of two ordinary pumps, there is one with controlled flow and a zero adjuster. At idle, the fluid supply is minimal - only to lubricate the unit, and increases to perform work.

The Achilles heel of Lviv loaders has always been the manual gearbox. TVEX does not have a box - the speed is controlled by a hydraulic drive. And this is not only reliability, but also ease of control: press the pedal - go, press more - go faster, press the pedal - stop. Reverse is controlled by the second pedal. There is also a stop pedal and a speed control knob. This is the first time such a chassis control system has been used in domestic loaders.

The maximum speed of movement of TVEX (both with and without cargo) is 20 km/h. Which complies with generally accepted international standards for forklifts. And taking into account the fact that loaders are purchased for work in enclosed spaces, it is provided for the installation of an exhaust gas neutralizer.

If you sit in the cabin on a seat - a recognized leader in the production of seats for excavators and loaders - you begin to feel the meaning of the word ergonomics. The tilt of the steering column is adjustable. And it is extremely convenient that the entire lifting mechanism is controlled by just one joystick lever.

It is also impossible not to notice that all sensors and control devices are located very conveniently. And the rear-view mirrors are successfully built into the housings of the headlight units, which also house the side lights and direction indicators.

The door opening unit has also been carefully thought out. They do not swing open, but slide aside on a lever mechanism, like the passenger door of an intercity bus. This is done so that when opening the doors do not extend beyond the dimensions of the loader.

The cabin and hood are made of high quality plastics. They do not corrode, and in addition, they are much cheaper than metal. To prevent fogging, the glass is made of double glass and - for the first time in domestic practice on such machines - is glued into the openings. Their graceful curved shapes give the loader a special chic. Windshield wipers are installed on the front and rear windows. The cabin has a protective metal grill on top. There is also a special place for air conditioning.

Another feature of the cabin is its mounting. In order to gain good access to all mechanisms, it can be folded to the side along with the hood. It is very convenient for maintenance and repair.

The biggest plus

New technology in Russia is traditionally treated with some degree of caution. Experience, like the son of difficult mistakes, constantly reminds us: nothing lasts forever under the sun. If something breaks, how to repair it? Where can I get spare parts? The answer to these natural questions was ready already at the loader design stage.

The analysis showed that one of the main reasons for the departure of Lviv loaders from the market is the plant’s dependence on suppliers. More than 60% of the components were imported. For a Tver loader, their share is less than 10%. The secret here is that 80% of the machine consists of devices that are mass-produced for excavators, debugged and produced here at the plant.

How to load oranges in barrels?

Such reflections on Ostap Bender’s telegram would certainly have puzzled Mr. Koreiko. There were no devices for this in Soviet Russia. Now it is.

The traditional working part of a forklift is a fork. But if the forks are a replaceable load-handling device and instead of them you can install a bucket, a crane, or a tilter, then calling the loader a forklift would not be entirely correct.

The bucket can be used to load snow or debris. The tilting gripper, equipped with a rotating device - a rotator, is used to grip and move cylindrical objects of various diameters - the same barrels, for example. And with the help of a beam crane (blockless boom) it is convenient to work with long loads. The boom is equipped with a hook that easily rotates around its axis on bearings, which allows you to turn the load in any direction: raised - turned - lowered.

TVEX can today lift a load to a height of 3.3 meters. But the plant has designed and already manufactured a prototype with a lifting height of 4.5 meters. It was dubbed "triplex". Thanks to an interesting design solution, the dimensions of a loader equipped with a triplex do not change. Therefore, there is no need to build new gates for it. And the essence of this interesting solution is as follows. If a conventional forklift has two frames - a fixed one and a movable one, connected to a carriage, then the new one has three of them. The third frame, connected to the carriage, moves relative to the second, and the second - relative to the stationary first. And they extend as if telescopically - one after another.

Taste of Demand

At Tverskoy Excavator Plant we felt the taste of demand for high-quality equipment. Over time, loaders of different types and sizes will be produced here. Production of vehicles with a carrying capacity of 7.5 tons will begin in July. In appearance, they will hardly differ from the five-ton ones. The length of the loader will increase, but only by one hundred millimeters - due to a larger counterweight.

In the near future, the plant team plans to launch the production of loaders with side unloading. Nobody produces such machines in Russia, and the need for them is quite great. For example, in the woodworking industry they are used to move and stack timber. Not everyone can afford German forklifts of this type.

Russian TVEX has already been demonstrated at two international exhibitions and has aroused great interest. Visitors literally surrounded him. And there were a lot of questions.

There were, of course, foreign analogues at the exhibitions. They turned out to be 3-4 times more expensive than TVEX and were superior to it in some characteristics. However, the price-quality ratio was still attractive to buyers. As a result, contracts were concluded for the supply of forklifts to Mongolia, China, Bulgaria, Poland, Iraq, the Baltic and CIS countries. The Egyptian Ministry of Defense ordered TVEXs with a lightweight cabin and air conditioning.

Representatives of many European countries complained that the car’s engine, the Minsk D-243, did not meet world standards in its characteristics. To make Tver loaders look more attractive on the European market, negotiations are underway with leading Western ones on the supply of diesel engines. It is also planned to purchase systems that ensure compliance with all necessary standards. And it is quite likely that in the foreseeable future, Tver Excavator Plant OJSC will displace leading loader manufacturers in the European market. By the way, tveks is an abbreviation for Tver Excavator. And this is not Twix at all.
