Operating experience of the New Holland 110b Backhoe Loader

Operating experience of the New Holland 110b Backhoe Loader

Hi all! I continue the story about trying to earn my bread and butter with the help of an excavator. As I said earlier, the excavator started making its first money a month after purchase. In the meantime, we continue to prepare for at least some work. Outside, sub-zero weather already prevails (down to -5). But despite the small minus, thanks to the high humidity, being outside is not very pleasant. Today we plan to change the tires. There are good tires, but unfortunately time is merciless to everyone and everything. Multiple side cuts, worn tread. And winter is ahead and you need to push the snow with a good tread. Because My budget is limited, the choice fell on domestically produced wheels. They are the most affordable on the market. Two tires cost me almost 40k. I think it lasted a year, but we’ll see. Changing tires on an excavator is not the same as changing tires on a car. Even delivering tires from a store to a tire shop turns into a quest. Initially I wanted to carry it in a bucket. But I was afraid of sanctions from the traffic police and decided that it was better to drive. Fortunately, my friend has a Fiat van, and the tires jumped into the back with a smile. And we went to the tire shop.

New tires

This is my first time dealing with truck tire fitting. When I arrived I saw two cars in line. JCB telescopic loader and Chinese front wheel. The last wheel on the Chinese car was already screwed on. And I was just starting to work with JCB. There it was necessary to change all four wheels. Well, I figured that there was only one machine in operation, I was happy. I thought that at most I was stuck here for an hour. The foreman met me, listened to me and told me to leave the tractor and come back in four hours. I was a little confused. Well, since the master said it, then I’ll come in four. I was about to leave, they told me that the Chinese owner would come and take him away and I would take his place and could go home to rest within a few hours.

Chinese

In short, I waited for the owner for an hour. He still wasn't there. The tire fitters said they couldn't reach him by phone. I freaked out and thought I’d let him drive me away myself. I climbed into the cabin and was horrified. I've never seen anything like this. First of all, I was impressed by the cabin itself. It was sooooo cramped for me just to sit there, not to mention how to work on it. There was a layer of earth on the floor that could at least plant potatoes. The panel was torn out and hanging on the remains of wires. I didn’t find the mass in the usual place. After walking around the tractor for about five minutes I found the ground switch in the battery box. In general, I somehow started this miracle of technology and drove it away. He put his horse in his place. And he went home. After a couple of hours everything was ready. I paid 3,600 rubles for the work.

All is ready!

Because I didn’t want to bother my friend again to pick up the old tires. I decided to take a risk and take her on myself. It turns out that both cylinders do not fit into the front bucket. More precisely, you can put it, but without ties it’s unrealistic to carry it like that. Therefore, I put one on the back bucket and put the other one in the front bucket, biting it slightly to fix it with the jaw. It turned out to be a funny cuttlefish, it’s a pity I didn’t take a photo. I was lucky and didn’t meet any gays and calmly reached the base and unloaded. While driving I realized that the exhaust pipe was being held to its word of honor. Arriving at the base, he pushed it with his finger and it fell to the ground with a clang. The next jobs were determined by themselves - welding. The plans are to weld the pipe and scald the ladle, because... Substantial cracks were found in two places. I can only weld fences myself, so I decided to entrust the job to a professional. My neighbor is a welder. He gladly agreed. While he was boiling the ladle, I exposed the exhaust manifold so that I could boil it. Of course, the engineers miscalculated the hood. The sides are easy to remove. But to remove the top, you will need a tool. Turning the bolts is not very convenient. But essentially the time to remove the hood is 10 minutes. Having removed the hood, it became convenient to understand the return flow of the cooling system. The old hose has dried out. I quickly bought a new one, since I had the right size in stock. Unfortunately, the welding of the ladle went mediocre because... it has already been worn out, and the metal has become very thin. In general, how long is enough? And then it started snowing. I posted an ad on Avito. And away we go. My friend and I have rights. We received it together two years ago. Even then there were thoughts of purchasing equipment. And here we are, with zero experience, in the thick of snow removal orders. He can clean, one might say, a little bit. All of them were cleaned a little at MTZ that year. But we decided to practice in our own garages. From the first minutes I realized that this was not Belarus and everything worked smoothly and easily. 15 minutes of training was enough to understand the process and we began to grab orders.
