A car starter is a complex mechanism that is used quite intensively - failure of the starting device is not a rare case. For the UAZ 469 model range, starters with a supply power of at least 1.6 kW/h are suitable - purchasing a device with a lower power will not ensure uninterrupted engine starting in aggressive conditions and will quickly “burn out”.

How to dismantle the starter for repair on a UAZ 469

The procedure for disassembling the starter on a UAZ will not pose any particular difficulties even for novice mechanics - the entire scope of work is carried out according to an intuitive scenario and has a sequential algorithm of actions. To dismantle and subsequently repair the mechanism, you will need no more than 1 hour of free time, as well as the availability of:

  • A set of wrenches or sockets;
  • Pliers for holding parts;
  • Long slotted screwdriver;
  • Rags for wiping.

Due to the structural similarity, the starter device on the UZA 469 has an identical repair algorithm to AvtoVAZ models, in terms of the VAZ 2105 or 2016. To start repairing the device, you only need to:

  • Open the hood and remove the negative terminal on the battery;
  • Next, remove the protection of the power unit - a metal or plastic sheet that prevents dirt from getting on the motor housing;
  • Then we disconnect the trim on the exhaust pipe muffler and remove the air filter housing, having previously disconnected the fixing clips;
  • Now you can unscrew the starter - the part is fixed with 3 bolts, after unscrewing which you can disconnect the electrical wiring of the device and remove the mechanism for repair;
  • The installation procedure is carried out according to this scenario in reverse order.

As a rule, a faulty starter can rarely be repaired and usually the mechanism is simply replaced with a new one. However, an old device can be revived in the following cases:

  • Failure of the rotor or stator - it is necessary to purchase functional components and replace the damaged ones;
  • Broken wiring or winding - can be treated by checking the electrical circuit with a multimeter and replacing damaged areas;
  • The solenoid relay burns out - the problem is eliminated by installing a new part.

The procedure for repairing a starter on an UZA 469 is quite simple: you just need to disassemble the device housing, which will provide access to the rotor and stator. Additionally, it is not recommended to disassemble the starter electrical mechanisms themselves - if the parts are faulty, it is easier to purchase new ones.
