Model range and characteristics of VOLVO wheeled front loaders
The company's history in wheel loader production dates back to 1954, when Bolinder Munktell released a machine called the H10. This tractor-based model was equipped with a three-cylinder diesel engine producing 35 hp. and a five-speed manual transmission. The success of the new technology contributed to the development of this area of Volvo's activities and the introduction of a series of technical developments. So, starting in the 1970s, the company began producing large articulated wheel loaders.
Since 1973, products began to be produced under the Volvo BM brand. In the same year, the first loader (LM 1641) with a turbocharged diesel engine and direct fuel injection was released. In 1981, an automatic transmission appeared.
Historical brands that contributed to the development of Volvo wheel loaders include Clark Michigan, Zettelmeyer, Pel-Job and Samsung.
Today, Volvo Construction Equipment is one of the world's leading manufacturers of wheel loaders, which are represented by compact and mid-size models.
All Volvo wheel loaders are equipped with 4-cylinder low-emission Volvo diesel engines.
The operating weight of mini loaders is 4.3-8.6 tons, the bucket capacity is 0.65-2 cubic meters. Similar characteristics for medium-sized loaders are 11-56 tons and 1.7-12.7 cubic meters. respectively.
Volvo compact loaders have three types of boom designs - parallel, Z-type and TP, which is the company's own design. TR is typical for all medium-sized loaders. This lifting mechanism has high parallelism and breakout force.
The list of attachments that these loaders can be equipped with is very wide - a 4-in-1 bucket, a fork, a crane boom, a mechanical brush, a transfer bucket, a side-discharge bucket. This allows Volvo compact front loaders to be used for general material handling, waste management, landscaping, construction and excavation work. Volvo front loaders are designed for digging, moving and loading during quarrying, construction, recycling, block and bulk material handling.
Engine
The equipment is equipped with a motor of its own production. This is the D5D CDE3 model, which is equipped with water cooling systems, direct fuel supply and turbocharging. It is characterized by a volume of 4.8 liters and is capable of developing power up to 68 kW or 91 horsepower. The distinctive features of the Volvo BL61B unit include reliability, efficiency and environmental friendliness. The power plant has four cylinders, develops torque up to 400 Nm, and the shaft rotates at a speed of 2200 rpm.

Device
The machine includes a supporting frame made of rolled steel, the elements of which are connected by welding. The cross beam has a widened cross-section, which provides increased rigidity. The lifting cylinders are installed in pairs, this is designed to reduce the working cycle time. Such parameters guarantee an increase in the technical characteristics of the Volvo BL61B compared to its predecessors.
Outriggers with a large support area reduce pressure on the base and make the excavator more stable. The kinematics are also made of a box profile, which eliminates damage to the hydraulic lines. The kingpin is made of cast iron. The design of the boom equipment is vaulted and ribbed, which ensures safety when performing work and does not block the visibility of the working area.

Reviews of Volvo BL71 backhoe loaders
Machine operators and owners speak of the Volvo BL71 as a reliable, durable and trouble-free machine. There are no complaints about the engine. There is dissatisfaction with the operation of automatic and mechanical transmissions with hydraulic drive, manufactured by Kararo (Italy).
The first and main drawback is the automatic engagement of the front axle when braking at speeds above 20 km/h. This was done to avoid skidding, since the brakes on these tractors are located in the rear axle.
The essence of the problem is that when braking at speeds above 20 km/h, due to the inclusion of the fluid coupling, a small impact occurs, which entails overload, and subsequently the inevitable replacement of gears, which are not cheap. Among the shortcomings, they also note the noise of the gear shift lever and the fragility of the cardan shaft seals.
The tractor axles, both front and rear, work for a long time, properly and without any complaints. The advantage of the Volvo BL71, compared to similar competitors, is the mass of the special vehicle, which is almost 10 tons - versus eight for most “classmates”. Wide rear wheels combined with weight provide excellent traction on any type of ground.
The ease with which standard working parts are replaced with additional ones is noted. This is done within five minutes, without a sledgehammer or crowbar, and generally without any significant effort. The corresponding hydraulic wiring comes already from the factory, so there is no need to spend money on additional calls to specialists and (or) the purchase of equipment.
The cabin is extremely comfortable, and it is a pleasure for the operator to work in it. But, as you know, you have to pay for pleasure. Therefore, one of the few, but very significant disadvantages of the Volvo BL71 is the high cost - both of the backhoe loader itself and of its ownership (the cost of maintenance and repair, spare parts, consumables and components for it). But, on the other hand, breakdowns are extremely rare - these are not the backhoe loaders of yesteryear, with their eternal oil leaks from the hydraulic system.
For all elements of the hydraulic system and fasteners in the Volvo BL71, only materials that are not subject to corrosion or have exceptionally high resistance to it are used. All devices and elements connected to electricity are protected from the effects of temperature changes and humid environments.
Chassis
Thanks to the reliable chassis, the Volvo BL 61 achieves maneuverability and maneuverability. The use of a locking differential on the rear axle ensures the efficiency and safety of work in a quarry, when laying utility networks and on construction sites.
The interaction of the motor and four-speed gearbox with servo drive and electro-hydraulic switching ensures high performance, accuracy and speed of completing assigned tasks. Depending on the conditions, the operator selects the optimal operating mode.
The chassis includes multi-disc external brakes in an oil bath, as well as an external handbrake.

Systems for the Forgetful Forklift Operator
To ensure that the operator does not forget during work, the developer equipped the special equipment with an “ECO” accelerator pedal, unique in its capabilities. It reminds you in a timely manner that you shouldn’t put too much pressure on the gas. When the engine speed is close to exceeding the economical operating range, the operator must overcome additional pedal resistance when pressing the accelerator.
This is because the intelligent hydraulic system with load sensing function ensures that hydraulic power is supplied only when it is really needed. As a result, the machine runs smoothly without jerking, using the supplied fuel much better.
Volvo wheel loader models L150H-L220H are equipped with a proprietary TP kinematic system. It provides high traction and lifting forces when working with attachments. The main advantage of this system is the constant rotation of the bucket throughout the entire range of boom lift. The new hydraulic and drive system ensures fast loading cycle times for increased productivity.
The Flexible Boom Suspension System (BSS) absorbs shock and prevents the loader from swaying, reducing the likelihood of material loss from the bucket while maintaining machine stability, even when driving on uneven surfaces.
Loaders of this series are distinguished not only by increased productivity. Of no small importance is increasing the service life of components and the entire machine as a whole. Buckets with an optimized shape, specially designed for this model range, are equipped with a number of protective elements that protect expensive equipment from damage.
Operator's cabin
The machine is adapted for operation in Russia: it is equipped with a high-quality ventilation and air purification system, a heater, and reliable controls. The ventilation system has 13 air ducts, and the necessary microclimate is created and maintained due to tightness.
The interior space of the Volvo BL 61B cabin is very spacious, which provides comfortable working conditions. The cabin has a large number of compartments for storing personal belongings, tools, etc. Additional devices are connected via AC power connectors.
To ensure safety during work, all-round glazing is provided. The dashboard allows you to intuitively control the equipment, as well as monitor its status during operation. Safety when transporting equipment is achieved through a hydraulic lock of the boom equipment, controlled from the cabin.
The standard equipment includes: heated windows, a defrosting system, an adjustable operator's seat, and air conditioning.
