Despite the widespread use of tractors as vehicles for various types of work, the question of where the engine number and other parts are located on the T-40 model arises quite often. For this reason, our company’s specialists return to this topic time after time for different machines and their numerous modifications.

Details and principles of finding the T-40 engine number

So, when trying to find the number of the engine and other structural elements of the T-40 model tractor, you should take into account that in the descriptions of locations with markings for all numbered parts, both sides (right and left) are determined solely by the direction of movement of the machine.

To quickly find information, government agencies and organizations subordinate to them have recently begun to develop specialized catalogs. In fact, they are intended not so much for car owners as for inspection authorities.

Such directories contain:

It is important that at the moment these are practically the only sources, besides official manuals from automakers and factories, from which the location of license plates on the T-40 tractor and other types of self-propelled equipment can be determined with the highest accuracy. This is explained by the fact that when creating the materials, data from passports of tractors and other machines, which are usually issued by customs and the manufacturers themselves, were used.

What numbers does the T-40 tractor have? Let's list:

Please note that on the T-40M tractor model there is no front axle in the design, so in this case it is not worth looking for a license plate.

Where are the unit numbers on the tractor 82.1

The MTZ-82 gearbox has 9 forward and 2 reverse speeds. In addition, there is a reduction gearbox that doubles the number of available speeds and power levels. The gearbox stages have 2 ranges, providing different operating modes of the gearbox.

Like any diesel engine, the D-240 (D-240L) engine consists of a number of mechanisms and systems. The main ones are crank and gas distribution mechanisms and lubrication, cooling, power and starting systems.

At the court hearing, plaintiff Ovechkin N.Yu. supported the stated demands and asks them to be satisfied. He explained to the court that he worked on the Verkhoishetsky collective farm on a DT-75MV tractor; before the liquidation of the collective farm, the equipment began to be sold, primarily to those who worked on it.

Driving a tractor or other self-propelled machine without registration, in accordance with Article 19.22 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, entails a fine of 1.5 to 2 thousand rubles per individual; from 2 to 4 thousand rubles per official; from 5 to 10 thousand rubles per legal entity.

In the MTZ-82 tractor, torque is also supplied to the front drive wheels, for which the power transmission additionally uses a transfer case, cardan transmission and front drive axle. The tractor is equipped with a friction, dry, single-disc, permanently closed clutch, controlled by a pedal from the cab. The transmission of torque in such a clutch is carried out due to the friction forces that arise when the drive and driven disks are compressed.

Trailers and semi-trailers for them also need to be registered with Gostekhnadzor. And ATVs, and snowmobiles, and all-terrain vehicles too - for them there is a special clause “the maximum design speed does not exceed 50 km/h.” Moreover: walk-behind tractors are also subject to this provision.

The design of modern MTZ-82 tractors includes a permanently closed dry single-disc clutch mechanism. This unit is distinguished by its reliability, simple design and easy access to the main moving parts. This allows you to independently repair the mechanism without the need to disassemble it.

Numbers that must match on the tractor with the documents: 1. serial number (nameplate, duplicated on the side member) 2. engine number 3. Number of drive axle (axles) 4. gearbox number. By the way, recognition of ownership rights will not oblige the State Tax Service to register the tractor if this tractor is on the database as a tractor deregistered for disposal.

It’s different for you, just like we wrote, just pay!

In 1991, I bought a YuMZ 6 that was killed and without documents. I restored it to help with mowing, this is 2-3 weeks a year. Today, GosTechNadzor said that from November 1st they do not issue documents through the court. Who knows anything about this?

Were there any changes to the rules for registering equipment? If there is a court decision recognizing ownership rights and it is also written there that the State Technical Supervision Inspectorate must register the tractor, then there can be no problems. Failure to comply with a court decision is fraught with such problems for the inspector that God forbid you end up in his place. In any case, you can be fired from your job immediately. I say this as a former employee of the State Technical Supervision Authority..

This is the case if something can be done through the court. In general, nothing can be done through the courts, because there is some kind of unspoken instruction from above. I wanted to register the trailer like this. But not very long ago I heard somewhere that it was generally prohibited to register this way through the court.

Is it Gostekhnadzor refusing to register or the courts not accepting statements of claim?

Court. I learned directly from the lawyers and prosecutors involved in these cases.

Good day, dear forum users! A question. I want to buy a tractor without documents. They are located in a different region. What documents can be made to transport it?

Draw up a handwritten purchase and sale agreement and drive something. In theory it should be enough.

I don’t know for sure, but it probably needs to be carried as a bunch of spare parts. and then the inspector of the state technical supervision said that due to a lack of documents, a car with a tractor loaded on it, which was being taken to work, was detained. The tractor had a number and was indicated on the waybill of the car. in a neighboring area, the police even drew up a report against one citizen for a welding machine. However, when the noise was raised in the forum, everything was cancelled.

Don't rush to do good. Good things must be done slowly so that they are noticed and appreciated.

Good evening, colleagues. 3 years ago I started assembling MTZ-80, just as the collective farms were collapsing. What was sold for metal, what was given for wages, in the end, I assembled more or less a tractor, there is no sign on the cab, the block is without a number, it is not clear what the numbers are on the Lanzhiron, but documents are needed. I turned to GOSTEKHNADZOR, they were scalded by boiling water, they say give me at least some paper for the tractor, but I have nothing. Please advise what to do.

The easiest option is to buy documents for the tractor. The second way is through the court, if this is practiced in your region. I don’t know about other methods.

I did it through the court, there is nothing complicated. Everything is legal by law.

Well, regarding a copy of the court decision, everyone should look for it in their own region. And according to the nameplates. Yes, there are only 2 of them. On the cabin and on the engine. Now install any engine and you don’t need a number, but you need it on the cab if there is a record of it. The numbers are stamped on the remaining units. Find the “punches” (or as they are correctly called) yourself and hammer them in, especially since they were knocked out crookedly from the factory. I actually have some interesting stuff. In the technical passport there are no numbers either on the bridge or on the box, but they were included in the registration certificate. As if all this is not in my favor.

Where are the numbers on the MTZ Tractor?

In this article we will tell you where the numbers of the component parts are marked on the tractor. This will be useful when registering the tractor with the traffic police, for checking the numbers with the passport of the self-propelled machine.

Let's start the review from the rear of the tractor. Just above the fuel filler neck, under the glass, there is a tractor nameplate (nameplate, nameplate). It indicates: 1. Individual serial number of the tractor (VIN, WIN) 2. Engine serial number 3. Tractor model 4. Weight 5. Year of manufacture

A little higher and to the right of the PTO shaft, the transmission number is marked on the rear axle housing (not to be confused with the gearbox number)

Let's move to the right side of the tractor in the direction of travel.

The individual serial number of the tractor is duplicated on the front part of the right side member of the semi-frame, so if for some reason you do not have a nameplate, you can check it using this number. The engine (diesel) number is also duplicated; it is printed on the diesel nameplate, which is attached to the cylinder block on the right, to the right of the oil filler neck.

On the front of the tractor, or rather on the front axle housing, there is the front axle number. If you have a regular portal axle, then you should look for the number on the right sleeve in front of the FDA. If the bridge is beam, then the number is located on the left sleeve in front.

Let's move to the left side of the tractor in the direction of travel (Where the operator usually sits). Here, just above the gearbox dipstick, the gearbox number is located. The clutch number (if necessary) can be found on the clutch housing on the left.

Let's finish reviewing the numbers of components in the tractor cabin. To the left of the operator, closer to the rear axle, there is a nameplate with the cab serial number.

Tip: when checking numbers, they are often under a layer of paint and it is not always possible to see them, especially in low light conditions, so arm yourself with a wide flat-head screwdriver and, if necessary, remove the layer of paint.

The bridge number is on the edge of the left stocking. The front beam number is next to the left headlight mount.

The engine number is on the block, behind the fourth cylinder, between the cylinder and the battery box. And it is duplicated on the plate between the injection pump and the filters.. The rear axle number is on the right, below the pedal mounts.

Then you need to look for numbers locally. We used to know that you couldn’t get through without a sign on the engine. They were simply made from aluminum sheet. They stamped the number as if on a block and molded it into place.

When I got the tractor, the only documents I had were an old-style technical passport, the inspector and I went through the entire tractor, found and copied all the numbers. It was difficult, now I wash it regularly with a Karcher, but back then there was only a centimeter of dirt.

Tractor T-40

The T-40 tractor model was produced at the Lipetsk plant from 1961 to 1995. In total, more than 1 million different modifications of the T-40 rolled off the assembly line. Based on this device, a whole line of tractors was developed. Subsequently, the technical characteristics of this machine were used in the design of the LTZ.

Tractor T-40

Brand history

At the end of World War II, the Lipetsk plant began producing tracked tractors, since many rural residents urgently needed this equipment to restore their farms. However, time passed, and tractors on tracks were no longer satisfied with their technical characteristics and speed of work. There was greater demand for wheeled versions.

Due to its wide range of operation and reliability of structural components, the T-40 tractor model is still in demand.

In 1958, the company completely abandoned the production of tracked vehicles and headed for wheeled models. The first serial production model was released in 1960.

The T-40 tractor is used in agriculture, road, utility and construction enterprises.

Almost immediately, development and testing of a more powerful type of T-40 began. During the design of this model, the shortcomings of previous machines were taken into account. People appreciated the capabilities of the T-40 and began to buy it directly from the assembly line, thanks to this the company was provided with orders for many years. Until the end of production, the T-40 Tractor was in great demand among buyers.

Tractor MTZ 82 - features of the representatives of the line

Due to the growing need for equipment, the Minsk Tractor Plant was forced to constantly refine its models, increase the power of their engines and improve their technical characteristics.
This is how the well-known MTZ 82 tractor rolled off the assembly line. The first representative of this family was released in 1974. Even then, the machine could be equipped not only with a tiller for tillage, but also with more than 215 agricultural implements and machines, which instantly increased the demand for it. This model became so successful that it was immediately recognized as the leader in the towing class up to 1.4 tons among tractors in the USSR. A wide range of applications, reliability in operation and ease of DIY repair have made the MTZ 82 tractor a real legend. Despite the appearance of many modern analogues, this model is actively used today, which once again confirms its authority as a reliable assistant in housekeeping. The MTZ marking hides two models - MTZ-82 and MTZ-82L. In their design, both of these representatives are almost completely identical. The difference between them lies in some elements. The MTZ 82 tractor was started using an electric starter, and the MTZ-82L was started using a separate starting gasoline engine. Both options were considered quite reliable, and tractor owners did not need to think about how to start the tractor in cold weather - the starting systems of both models worked properly, regardless of weather conditions. The second difference lies in the design of the front axle. The 80th model was equipped with an ordinary beam with steered wheels, which played the role of a bridge, and the second was equipped with a driven front axle, to which torque from the transmission was transmitted through a transfer case.

Cooling system

The technical characteristics of the T-40AM corresponded to the declared ones only if the engine was properly cooled, which was carried out by an air flow from an axial fan. In the fan air intake channel there was a rotary disk, with the help of which the intensity of the air flow was regulated. The entrance to the channel was equipped with a protective mesh that prevented foreign objects from entering the fan.

The forced air entered the guide casing mounted on the cylinders and exited through the fins on the cylinders and heads. There are additional deflectors inside the casing for better distribution of air flow between the cylinders. The fan was driven by two belts from the engine crankshaft.

An oil radiator served as an additional means of maintaining engine temperature, which could be turned off during the cold season. The oil radiator is located inside the guide casing and is blown by the air flow from the fan.

When operating the tractor in winter, it was recommended to cover the engine hood with an insulating cover. This insulation was supplied by the factory upon request. The cooling system was monitored by an oil temperature sensor and a warning light that came on when the fan drive belt broke.

Unit engine features

MTZ-82 is equipped with a 4-cylinder diesel engine, the cylinders of which are located strictly in one row.
The fuel system delivers the mixture directly to each cylinder. If the engine does not start, the reasons most likely lie in a clogged one of the cylinders. Repair in this case is carried out by cleaning the fuel channels and the cylinders themselves. The cooling system in the tractor is liquid, forced. The distribution device is equipped with a shaft located at the bottom, but the valves are located in the cylinder head. The engine lubrication system is combined, some parts can be lubricated under pressure, and the rest - by splashing. The engine is driven by gears from the crankshaft. The fairly reliable motor design allows the farmer to use a wide range of attachments. The driver can use the equipment for planting and harvesting crops, cleaning the area, mowing grass and transporting goods.

Engine

Tractors based on the T-40 were equipped with a four-cylinder 37-horsepower diesel engine model D37. The air-cooled diesel engine was produced at the tractor plant in Vladimir. The T-40AM tractor (like all modernized machines) was equipped with a more powerful 50-horsepower D144 diesel engine. In some early instructions, the engine model is indicated as D 37E. The plant guaranteed the declared engine power only after running-in and an additional 60-hour operating time.

Structurally, the D37 and D144 engines are identical and consist of a crankcase with an oil pan on which individual cylinders are installed. The cast iron cylinder body has extensive fins to ensure reliable cooling. A characteristic feature of the diesel engine of the T-40AM tractor is the combustion chambers made in the body of aluminum pistons.

The rigid crankcase houses a five-bearing crankshaft and camshaft. The camshaft drive is gear-type. The cylinder heads are individual, with developed fins for better cooling, and have two valves each. The valves are driven from the camshaft by rods and rocker arms.

Tractor device

The MTZ-80 model has a combined device, since in the front part the role of the supporting structure is played by the front half-frame, and in the rear part the transmission housing copes with this task.

Externally, the unit has a neat appearance and a small width. Elements of the engine compartment are covered with a folding flap that serves as a hood lid. Behind the elements of the engine compartment is the driver's cabin. Since it is located above the transmission parts, a compact step is installed for access to the cabin. Behind the cabin there is a linkage mechanism and hydraulic system channels for installing hydraulic attachments.

The numbers on the diagram indicate the following elements:

Below we will consider the design and features of the main components of the tractor.

Specifications

Weight and dimensions

The weight of the T-40 tractor is 2370 kg, and the T-40A model weighs 2570 kg. The weight increase is dictated by design improvements.

Tractor T-40A

The overall dimensions of all modifications are similar: their length is 3660 mm, width is 1625 mm, and height is 2370 mm. Changing the track width in T-40 tractors is not provided.

Engine

The D-37 engine has a volume of 4.15 liters. The engine starts using an electric starter. The nominal speed of the motor is 1500 rpm. Cooling occurs using air.

D-144 engine diagram

Despite the fact that the D-144 engine has 13 horsepower more, its design is exactly the same, with the exception of volume and number of revolutions.

Box

The gearbox has 14 positions. In addition to the standard 7 steps forward, there are 7 more reverse positions.

Control diagram

A distinctive feature is the number of speeds for driving in the opposite direction, since many similar models have much fewer of them. The maximum transport speed can reach 26.7 km/h.

Chassis and transmission

The T-40 tractor is mounted on a metal frame. There is a motor in front, which is connected to the gearbox and rear axle. The advantage of this model over many analogues is the transverse arrangement of the gearbox shafts. Thanks to this design solution, it was possible to position the gearbox directly behind the clutch.

Starting motor circuit

It should be noted that the T-40 tractor is equipped with a combined clutch. At the rear there is a block for controlling the rear and transverse shaft. They are able to work both separately and together. The T 40 tractor is equipped with a combined mode suspension. There are shock absorbers at the front, and a rigid one at the rear. Improved cross-country ability of the T-40 tractor on country roads is achieved thanks to the special shape of the treads.

Basic systems of the D 240 engine

This made it possible to completely eliminate the possibility of erroneous data entering the Catalog. The presence in the catalog of photographs of the appearance of each piece of equipment expands the scope of its application, making it possible to use it as a compact directory of brands of self-propelled equipment.

When draining water from the diesel cooling system, simultaneously drain it from the heater boiler and from the hoses of the cabin heating unit.

Here is a spotlight on a real tractor. This is a later modification with a square hood, but the rear view is the same. By the way, it would be interesting to see a license plate on the model, since in the mid-1960s special license plates appeared for tractors, self-propelled vehicles and tractor trailers.

The reverse gearbox is a unit installed between the clutch and the gearbox. Performs the function of quickly changing the direction of movement back and forth without changing the gear ratio. Simply put, at the same speed you can move forward or backward, which allows you to use the “shuttle” mode.

In addition, MTZ 82.1 tractors can be used to perform labor-intensive work in conjunction with excavators, bulldozers, loaders, as well as for special transport work and to drive various stationary agricultural machines. For operation in bad weather, the front and rear windows are equipped with electric wipers, and the front window is also equipped with a windshield washer.

The design of the MTZ 82 and MTZ 80 tractors is identical to each other and is a semi-frame consisting of two cast channels connected by a front beam, as well as a gearbox, engine, rear axle, clutch, and linkage installed on it. The only difference is the presence of a front drive axle on the MTZ 82 tractor. And now I propose to compare the model with the original, caught in the vastness of the Omsk region. Despite the fact that the MTZ-50 with a “round” hood was stopped being produced back in the 1960s, such tractors can still be found in the rural outback.

The engine design of the MTZ tractor is a four-cylinder, four-stroke naturally aspirated diesel engine D-240 / D-243 with a power of 80 hp. with direct injection and electric start, capable of accelerating to 40 km/h.

Transmission

The T-40AM tractor was equipped with an eight-speed gearbox. All of them could be used for both forward and reverse. The box had a separate reverse gear, which was used when maneuvering. A bevel gearbox was installed directly behind the clutch. Thanks to him, the box had a transverse shaft arrangement.

To expand the range of speeds and traction forces, a two-speed creeper could be installed on the gearbox. To drive mounted and trailed units, the tractor had a hydraulic system, a pneumatic system and two power take-off shafts. The shafts were located on the side and rear of the gearbox housing.

The engine was installed through rubber mounts on a subframe, which was rigidly connected to the clutch housing. This power scheme, in which the transmission unit housings serve as a frame, is common for wheeled tractors.

Numbers of the engine and other units of MTZ 82

The nameplate with the engine series is located on the right side of the tractor on the diesel block, on the right side of the filler pipe for filling diesel oil. Aluminum plates with serial numbers on the MTZ 82 engine can be of several types, depending on the year of manufacture.

There are plates that reflect only the brand and serial number of the diesel engine. Plates of another type, in addition to the unit series, have additional data: power in kW and horsepower, rated speed, year of manufacture of the unit. A Soviet-era plate with the inscriptions “MADE IN USSR” and a quality mark. Modern nameplates are made with the inscriptions “Minsk Motor.

Marking of individual units:

  1. The digital marking of the rear axle is stamped on the rear wall of the housing to the left or right of the location of the rear power take-off shaft gearbox.
  2. The gearbox number is stamped on its housing on the left side of the movement path above the location of the dipstick at the base of the cab.

To ensure long-term and trouble-free operation of the tractor, you must carefully read this manual and promptly and correctly follow the rules given in it.

When unloading the tractor from a platform or gondola car, fasten the cables as shown in Figure 9. If the cross member of the longitudinal links is not installed and a nearby tractor prevents its installation, move the tractor along the platform, grabbing it with the rear cable by the central link bracket, install the cross member and moor the tractor for longitudinal rods.

Equip the tractor with the parts included in the spare parts kit (headlights, seat, shock absorber, etc.).

Bring the internal pressure in the tires of the front and rear wheels to normal.

There is no need to break in a new tractor; it can be fully loaded. During the first 60 hours of operation, especially carefully carry out all maintenance operations according to the instructions, paying special attention to tightening fasteners.

When switching to winter operation of the tractor, disconnect the oil cooler from the engine lubrication system and install the throttle disc on the fan grid.

During operation of the T-40AM and T-40ANM tractors, the front drive axle is switched on automatically depending on road conditions.

Lubricate the cardan shafts of the front drive wheels with transmission oil using a syringe with a special tip. Do not use thick lubricants.

Clean the tractor from dust and dirt in a timely manner, do not allow fuel, oil and electrolyte to leak. Monitor the condition of the fastenings of components and parts, especially the condition of the steering and chassis.

Location of serial numbers of the tractor and units on MTZ 82(80)

To identify the MTZ 82 tractor in accordance with its technical passport, as well as documents confirming ownership of the equipment, state registration, technical inspection, the right to drive by proxy and other documents related to the operation of the machine, the manufacturer provides numbering of the machine and its individual nodes

Particular attention should be paid to the correspondence of the actual digital markings of the car with the specified numbers in the documents upon purchase, since the fact of discrepancy may cast doubt on the legality of ownership of movable property.

Required documents for tractor registration

When learning how to register a homemade tractor, you should remember that one of the main requirements for successful completion of the procedure is the availability of all the necessary documentation. Its list may differ and depends on whether the application is submitted by an individual or a legal entity.

The standard package of documents required for registration includes:

In addition, if the registration is not carried out by the owner, he will need to have with him a notarized power of attorney granting the authority to perform such actions. Legal entities, in addition to the mentioned papers, will need to provide constituent documentation, as well as a certificate of tax registration.

To register, you must collect a set of documents

As mentioned earlier, the procedure for registering an old tractor without documents will differ significantly. You will need to file a claim in the magistrate's court at your place of residence to recognize rights by acquisitive prescription.

The registration process will require the participation of two witnesses who are not relatives, who will have to confirm the fact of owning the equipment for 5 years. After this, the unit numbers will be checked using the database, as a result of which a certificate will be issued to the owner. She will confirm that the tractor is not wanted and is not registered.

When studying how much registration costs, it should be noted that the amount of costs depends on whether new or used equipment is purchased. In the first case, you will need to pay 3,300 rubles, but if the vehicle is old and does not require the issuance of new license plates, the costs can be reduced to 1,300 rubles.

Transmission and hydraulic system design

MTZ-82 is equipped with a single-plate dry clutch with a mechanical drive. The engine is connected to the transmission, which is divided into three parts - front axle, rear axle, gearbox. The gear shift pattern is standard for tractors from this manufacturer. The gearbox itself is a mechanical type with two rear and 9 forward speeds. The reduction gear almost doubles the number of speeds.

The rear axle has a bevel gear final drive, as well as several pairs of final drives and spur gears. The design also includes 4 bevel differential pinions. The differential can be locked, both forcibly and automatically. Automatic locking is performed using the steering mechanism.

The design of the MTZ-82 includes a separate-unit hydraulic system, equipped with a hydraulic booster and regulators. The drive shaft of the tractor acts as a drive for the hydraulic system pump. It made it possible to control not only the machine itself, but also the attachments.

Despite making some design modifications to the transmission, the manufacturer still left the tractor owner the opportunity to repair the equipment with his own hands. However, parts for this need to be purchased from tractors of the same model, so spare parts of some modifications with other sizes may not be suitable.

The most famous modifications of the Belarusian tractor

The MTZ-82 model is one of the universal tractors. In addition, it played the role of a base for the production of units for a narrower purpose, which were created for specific tasks in production and other areas. Among these models it is necessary to highlight:

MTZ-82.1

This model was equipped with a spacious cabin and a simplified gear shift scheme. The design of the tractor included a modernized blade. The tractor's electric circuit is considered much more reliable than that of similar units;

MTZ-82R The unit was intended for operation in rice fields. It was equipped with a modified clutch device. Before driving the tractor, it was necessary to configure the transmission.

This kind of training helped improve the machine's performance;

MTZ 82N

This model was used on areas with a slope, the angle of which did not exceed 8 degrees. For this purpose, the tractor was equipped with a modernized PTO and wheels reduced in diameter.

The tractor was equipped with a modified cooling system.
