Most often, problems with the unit are the result of improper operation of the machine, lack of proper preparation for work, or natural wear and tear of the elements. These machines have always seemed to me (specifically the old ones) useless and fragile, however, in rural life, any technology is irreplaceable, including such “dinosaurs” of our time as the YuMZ-6AL, which I will tell you about today.

The layout of this model is classic for vehicles of this class with a 4x2 wheel arrangement. The skeleton of the YuMZ-6 tractor is a semi-frame, made up of two longitudinal spars and a transverse front beam. The clutch and gearbox housings are attached to this structure.

The YuMZ-6 wheeled tractor belongs to the class of universal general-purpose machines of the Belarus family. Designed to perform the following types of work:

  1. Agricultural operations using trailed, semi-mounted and mounted implements.
  2. Road construction, forestry, and special types of work.
  3. The tractor can be used as a drive for mobile and stationary units.
  4. Transport operations using trailers and semi-trailers.

When you rotate handle 14 (see Fig. 3) clockwise, the curtain rises and closes the water radiator. The curtain is held in a given position using a locking mechanism. To lower the curtain, you need to press the handle and rotate it counterclockwise.

Tractor YuMZ-6: technical characteristics, device, diagram, photo and video

YuMZ-6 is a classic wheeled tractor. The design is based on a semi-frame consisting of a pair of side members and a transverse beam, on which the units and structural elements of the tractor are mounted. The tractor has pneumatic wheels with low-pressure tires and powerful lugs - this gives it excellent maneuverability.

The tractor number is indicated on the left side member of the frame, and is duplicated on a plate located on the cab door.

In order to reduce the labor intensity of the work of inspection engineers, the Department of State Technical Supervision of the Voronezh Region collected information on 50 units of equipment in terms of indicating the locations of marking of numbered units. The information is processed, systematized and presented in the form of a catalogue. The catalog has sections and subsections in which self-propelled vehicles are grouped by type and brand.

The tractor is adapted to work in a wide temperature range. It starts perfectly in forty-degree frost (maximum temperature) and can withstand heat up to plus forty. In addition to general agricultural work, it is used in production, construction, public works, and also as a vehicle.

Just 2 years later, the 100,000th YuMZ-6 rolled off the plant’s assembly line. High technical characteristics and performance qualities made the model very popular. An additional advantage of the YuMZ-6 was the simplicity of the design and a huge number of spare parts, many of which were unified with other similar tractors and interchangeable. YuMZ tractors are universal wheeled vehicles that perform agricultural and transport work. The developer of the tractors was the Southern Machine-Building Plant, also known as the plant named after. L. I. Brezhnev.

Description and main characteristics of the YuMZ excavator

When you press pedal 5, the fuel supply increases. When the pedal is released, the fuel supply depends on the position of lever 1 (see Fig. 6), when moving it forward, the fuel supply increases, and when moving backward, it decreases.

Over the years, the design of the tractor has been improved and refined. The manufacturer produced 4 modifications in series, which will be discussed below. Users noted the high performance characteristics, reliable and uncomplicated design of the tractor, which made it possible to service it even outside specialized enterprises.

In addition, they are able to operate in different temperature conditions; the market offers a huge number of spare parts for this equipment, as well as many types of attachments.

In this article we will tell you where the numbers of the component parts are marked on the tractor. This will be useful when registering the tractor with the traffic police, for checking the numbers with the passport of the self-propelled machine.

The tractor is 1980 and perhaps there really is no VIN there. How, in this case, can you check the tractor for the absence of registration restrictions (arrests, liens, etc.)?

In the USSR, there was a widespread practice when equipment developed in the design bureau of one enterprise was mastered by another enterprise from the same field, and was produced either under the original brand or under the own name of the successor plant. The prototype of the YuMZ-6 tractor was the Minsk Tractor Machine.

From 1966 to 2001, this equipment was produced by the well-known Southern Machine-Building Plant in a variety of versions, which were noticeably different from each other. The very first copy of the YuMZ 6 tractor first rolled off the assembly line back in 1966. YuMZ-6 is a representative of universal wheeled tractors for general purpose, part of the “Belarus” line, initially produced by the tractor plant in Minsk, but later developed at YuMZ.

Piston group

Parts are replaced when increased crankcase oil consumption or increased penetration of gases into the crankcase is noticed. The parts most susceptible to wear are rings, piston, connecting rod bushings, liners, and connecting rod bearing shells.

If the gap between the piston grooves and the ring is exceeded, the piston must be replaced. Piston rings must be replaced if the gap in the lock exceeds 4.0 mm.

Cylinder block

The main problems of the block include warping of the parting plane, wear of the chamfers of the valves and sockets, the presence of cracks in the bridges, and burnout of the seats for the injector seals.

4.Attachment system of the YuMZ-6 tractor

The transmission system of the YuMZ-6 tractor-excavator consists of a five-speed gearbox with a two-flow dry clutch. The car reaches speeds of up to 24.5 km/h.

When the handle 18 is installed in the forward position, the right turn indicator is turned on, in the rear position - the left turn indicator, in the middle position - everything is turned off. At the end of the tractor turn, the handle automatically returns to the neutral position.

Let's move to the left side of the tractor in the direction of travel (Where the operator usually sits). Here, just above the gearbox dipstick, the gearbox number is located.

The differential is locked when you press pedal 7 (see Fig. 4); when the pedal is released, the lock is automatically turned off. Lever 8 turns on the PTO. The clutch is disengaged by pedal 9. By simultaneously pressing the latch pedal 10 and the clutch pedal all the way, the PTO drive clutch is disengaged. At this moment, lever 8 turns the PTO on or off.

Let's finish reviewing the numbers of components in the tractor cabin. To the left of the operator, closer to the rear axle, there is a nameplate with the cab serial number.

As you can see, the tires of this old man have seen a lot. I wouldn’t be surprised if very hard-to-reach fields are also developed.

Chinese or Korean models, on the contrary, are equipped with cheap plastic stars that are unable to withstand sudden changes in workloads. Any modern chain equipment for home use is equipped with an ignition system, the design of which includes a magneto with a high-voltage winding wound on it, as well as a spark plug.

But what about without the history of the tractor? No way. In the vastness of my native land, I rummaged around and found this. I think it will also be interesting to read.

I bought an old YuMZ-6 tractor, still a proven machine. I read about it, it is easy to repair, there are no special problems with it. And you can do everything you need with your own hands. I know that there are new models, but for some reason this one stuck with me.

Basic systems of the D 240 engine

Cooling system

The D 240 motor is equipped with a closed liquid cooling system, which contacts the environment only through a valve. The system consists of a radiator, water pump, thermostat, fan, cooling jacket and various pipes for supplying and discharging coolant.

Lubrication system

The D 240 engines presented by both MTZ and YuMZ use a single-circuit lubrication system. A special feature is that some parts are lubricated under pressure, the other part - by splashing. The system, in turn, includes an oil intake, pump, centrifuge, radiator, radiator thermostat, as well as bearings and gears for the fuel pump drive.

Supply system

The D 240 engine power supply system is a set of devices that provide not only separate supply of fuel and air, but also the release of waste products. It consists of an air cleaner, manifolds, fuel filters, pump, injectors and low and high pressure pipes. The engine is also equipped with an alternating current generator with a voltage of 14V, which also has a built-in rectifier.

Starting system

The D 240 engines have an electric starter with a power of 4.8 hp. and an electric torch heater, which serves to facilitate engine starting by heating the air admitted into the cylinders. The D 240L engines are started using a starting motor and a gearbox.

A single-cylinder engine with a power of 10 hp is used. It is equipped with a single-mode centrifugal governor, which is installed to maintain a constant frequency of the maximum rotation speed of the HF. To simplify starting in the cold season, a liquid heater is used.

YuMZ 6: technical characteristics

This made it possible to completely eliminate the possibility of erroneous data entering the Catalog. The presence in the catalog of photographs of the appearance of each piece of equipment expands the scope of its application, making it possible to use it as a compact directory of brands of self-propelled equipment.

The basis for the YuMZ 6 and their modifications was the MTZ-5. The production of the cars finally ceased in 2001. Since then, only used models of YuMZ tractors can be found in public and private farms.

The first samples of this model were assembled at the Southern Machine-Building Plant in the city of Dnepropetrovsk in 1966. The prototype for the described tractor was the MTZ-5, which was developed by the design bureau of the Minsk Tractor Plant. This model was produced at YuMZ starting in 1958.

A modification of the YuMZ-6 tractor with excavator equipment has become widespread among domestic consumers. Despite the fact that the machines have been out of production for quite some time, the technician continues to work on farms of various types.

Later, after the creation of its own tractor machine from Yuzhmash, the production and export of the already famous “Belarus” continued.

The steering of the tractor is equipped with a hydraulic booster; the rotation of the front wheels is ensured by a trapezoid through a longitudinal link. The latter is connected to the shaft of the three-spoke steering wheel through a cardan transmission. The service brake system is pneumatic, shoe or disc type with pedal control. The parking mechanism is activated by a lever secured by a ratchet.

The tractor brakes are activated by pressing pedals 2 and 3. When pedal 3 of the right brake is pressed, the brake light turns on.

Factory serial number MTZ 82

The MTZ 82 tractor is marked by the manufacturer with a main serial number, which is duplicated in designated places. The following units included in the tractor also have separate digital marks: engine, gearbox, main drive axle.

The main number plate of the MTZ 82(80) tractor is located on the outer rear wall of the cab on the left side in the direction of travel. The metal marking table has a branded factory logo and reflects the main factory serial number of the machine and engine, the make of the tractor, its weight and year of manufacture. Also, the numbers of the factory series of the tractor are printed on the right side member of the semi-frame, and duplicated on the right and left plates of the front counterweight using a stamped imprint.
