The GAZ 322132 model represents the Gazelle family and belongs to the light-duty vehicles produced by the Gorky Automobile Plant since 1996. This modification is made in the form of a bus with a sliding door. The basis for the creation of GAZ 322132 was another domestic minibus - GAZ 32213. The model differs from its predecessor in its hinged trunk doors, the presence of a hatch and sliding windows that improve ventilation.
In 2005, the line of modifications of this model was replenished with a special version with an unusual color – “golden orange”. A little later, specialists from the Gorky Automobile Plant improved the heating system and anti-lock braking system.
In 2010, GAZ 322132 was discontinued. It was replaced by a more advanced GAZelle-Business model. However, over 15 years, the car gained enormous popularity in the Russian market and was in demand in the CIS countries. The reason for this was decent technical parameters and low cost. Now the GAZ 322132 minibus can be found in almost every locality. The model is actively used as a tourist and excursion transport.
GAZ 322132 represents class H1 (M1) with a maximum permitted weight of no more than 3500 kg. You can operate it only if you have category “D” rights.
The Gorky Automobile Plant produced three modifications of the GAZ-322132:
- GAZ 322132-404 is designed for 13 passenger seats. The bus is equipped with an anti-lock braking system and a ZMZ-40524 power unit;
- GAZ 322132-408 has similar parameters, but is additionally equipped with power steering;
- GAZ 322132-531, instead of a standard gasoline engine, is equipped with a GAZ-5902 diesel unit.
GAZ 322132 – urban transport. Using it for transportation over long distances is quite problematic. What distinguishes the model from minibuses representing this segment is the arrangement of the last four seats, called “landing” ones. Regarding the direction of movement, they are not facing, but sideways. This allows you to quickly exit through the rear emergency door if necessary.
Due to its reliability, low cost of repair and maintenance, compact size and unpretentiousness, the GAZ 322132 is especially often used as a minibus. The design of the minibus involves the installation of gas equipment. The model can use liquefied gas as fuel.
The Gorky Automobile Plant provided a guarantee of 100,000 km or 2 years of model operation for this product. The warranty covered all components and assemblies of the vehicle.

The minibus has low fuel consumption. Outside the city the figure is about 11 l/100 km, in the city – 12-13 l/100 km. The fuel tank capacity is 70 liters.
History of creation and distinctive features
City residents were able to see the car, called the Gazelle, for the first time in 1997. The minibus was actively used for passenger transportation and was not inferior in popularity to another model of the Gorky Automobile Plant - GAZ-2705. The description of the two models indicates that they were similar to each other in many ways. Subsequently, both vans were completed and improved at various assembly plants. In 2003, enterprises began purchasing certified models directly from the manufacturer.
The developers of the light-duty bus provided 13 seats for passengers. All copies of GAZ 32213 received an anti-slip floor covering that practically did not get dirty. The seats had a soft structure and a height sufficient for the comfort of passengers. A few years after its release, the minibus, designed for 13 seats, began to be equipped with a more modern ventilation and heating system. After this, the passengers' stay in the cabin became more comfortable. In 2005, the manufacturer equipped the GAZ 32213 with an emergency braking assistance system (ABS). Since 1996, the bus body has undergone some changes; the designers have provided a sliding door. This version began to be produced as GAZ 322132.
The standard vehicle interior height is 1850 mm, but at the buyer’s request it can be increased by raising the roof. The new version of the minibus with a high plastic roof is called GAZ 322133. It has a higher ceiling, is distinguished by the presence of handrails and a large upper hatch, as well as an increase in the number of seats. Otherwise, the model resembles a regular minibus GAZ 322131.
The length of the bus is 5470 mm, and the overall width does not exceed 2075 mm excluding mirrors. Ground clearance is 170 mm. The weight of the base model is 2340 kg.
Engine
GAZ 322132 inherited the line of power units from the GAZ 32213 model. The most popular modification on the domestic market is the modification with the ZMZ-40524 gasoline engine. This 4-cylinder unit is characterized by increased reliability and has an electronically controlled distributed injection system. Characteristics of the ZMZ-40524 engine:

- rotation speed – 4000 rpm;
- maximum torque – 214 Nm.
Versions with the foreign Chrysler 2.4L-DOHC gasoline unit were slightly less popular. It was installed in modifications 322133-748 and 322132-718. This power plant had distributed fuel injection, 4 cylinders and a 16-valve timing mechanism. The engine in the GAZ 322132 line of units was considered the most economical and environmentally friendly. Chrysler 2.4L-DOHC engine parameters:

The latest modifications of the GAZ 322132 received the GAZ-5602 engine, created on the basis of the STEYR M14 engine. Characteristics of this installation:

- rotation speed – up to 3800 rpm;
- maximum torque – 204 Nm.
Design
As mentioned above, the GAZ-3221 car is an improved version of the outdated 2705. The general exterior design was preserved, it was supplemented with new contours and elements. The body is equipped with six windows with opening vents (3 on each side). For boarding and disembarking passengers there is a sliding door on the starboard side. The rear hinged door is used to load and unload cargo and luggage. The cabin has two doors.
The car did not receive any prominent elements. Everything is done according to the best traditions of the GAZelle family. In 2003, the vehicle was restyled, receiving new headlights, a radiator grille and large side mirrors.
The salon consists of two parts. They are separated from each other by a partition. The driver and two assistants are located in the front, and the passengers are in the rear. In minibus taxis, the front seats are used by passengers when the cabin is crowded. The main versions have 7 and 9 seats. Together with the driver, the total capacity is eight and ten people, respectively. A less common modification is designed for 14 passengers. Some users install additional chairs to increase income.
GAZ-3221 8 seats is often used as a business vehicle. The seats are positioned so that all passengers can make direct visual contact. This is convenient during negotiations. There is also a folding table with individual lighting, where it is convenient to work with a laptop and view documents. Some options have increased interior height by raising the roof. The rear luggage compartment holds 250 liters. This is enough to carry several large travel bags.
The engine was preserved from the 2705 model. The ZMZ-40524 naturally aspirated gasoline engine has four cylinders arranged in a row. It is installed on modifications 404 and 408. With a displacement of 2.89 liters, it develops up to 107 horsepower. This is enough to accelerate to 100 km/h in 30 seconds (with a maximum speed of 130 km/h).
Version 531 is equipped with a GAZ-5602 diesel power plant. Thanks to four cylinders, the working volume is 2.13 liters. The engine design is complemented by turbocharging. Various boost configurations are set at the factory, resulting in 95 or 110 horsepower. Maximum torque is 204 Nm (at 2.3 thousand revolutions) or 250 Nm (at 2 thousand revolutions), respectively.
There are varieties with an American power unit - Chrysler 2.4L DOHC. As a rule, it can be found on models with the index “748”. The device includes four cylinders (4 valves each) and a distributed fuel injection system. With 2.43 liters of volume, a power of 150 horsepower is achieved at 5.5 thousand revolutions. Maximum torque is 224 Nm at 4.2 thousand rpm. The Chrysler engine is installed on shortened versions of the GAZ-3221 Business with changed parameters - 133 horsepower and 204 Nm.
Average fuel consumption is 17 liters per 100 kilometers. When moving around a modern metropolis at an average speed of 60 km/h, the fuel consumption rate is 23 liters. On a suburban highway, gasoline costs are reduced - the car requires no more than 14 liters. Thanks to such indicators, on the Russian market the car is classified as an economical category. Russian businessmen who use foreign competitors spend more money on refueling equipment.
All engines operate in conjunction with a standard, synchronized manual transmission. It consists of six speeds - five forward and one reverse. The GAZ has a dry clutch with one disc, powered by a hydraulic device. Depending on the modification, the cardan transmission can be two-shaft with an intermediate support or three-shaft.
A mechanical transfer case is provided on modifications 32217 and 322173. It consists of two stages, includes a reduction gear with a center differential with forced locking. It provides permanent all-wheel drive.
The high strength of the dependent suspension was achieved by longitudinal semi-elliptical leaf springs. They are complemented by hydraulic telescopic shock absorbers with front stabilizers. Some models do not have front stabilizers.
The front wheels are equipped with disc brakes, while the rear wheels are equipped with drum brakes. The brake system operates via a hydraulic drive, consists of two circuits and is supplemented by a vacuum booster. This is one of the most reliable designs in the history of the domestic automotive industry, providing a high degree of safety.
Device
GAZ 322132 is a comfortable passenger minibus with a decent interior height (1950 mm). This allows even very tall people to stand up to their full height inside the vehicle. For ease of movement while standing, additional handrails are provided that passengers can hold on to. For boarding and disembarking, a side hinged door with a width of 670 mm and a height of 1670 mm is used. Thanks to the low step, getting people on and off is quite convenient.
Reliable sound insulation minimizes noise levels, making travel more comfortable for passengers. The seats in the cabin are equipped with armrests and headrests. Additionally, the transport can accommodate up to 300 kg of luggage. The heating system allows you to maintain sufficient temperature inside the car in winter.
All GAZ 322132 engines operate exclusively with a synchronized 5-speed manual transmission. The gearbox has a gear ratio of 5.125 and interacts with the engine through a hydraulically driven single-plate friction clutch.
The minibus is equipped with a dependent suspension design with rear and front telescopic shock absorbers and longitudinal springs. Additionally, the rear suspension is equipped with a stabilizer bar.
The GAZ 322132 brake system includes a hydraulic drive with a vacuum booster and two independent circuits. Disc brakes are installed at the front, and classic drum brakes at the rear. Some versions are equipped with foreign Bosh brakes and a Sachs clutch. Imported components increase the cost of the minibus, but make it more reliable.

The GAZ-322132 minibus was developed by the Gorky Automobile Plant on the basis of a van and a minivan with indexes, respectively, 2705 and 3221, as can be seen from the contours of the body. Equipped with:

Now it is not possible to buy a new GAZ 322132, since production of the car ended in 2010.
The price range for these models on the secondary market is quite large. Modifications from 2005-2006 with a mileage of 100,000-150,000 km are offered for 140,000-200,000 rubles. More recent versions (2009-2010) with a mileage of up to 100,000 km will cost more - 270,000-350,000 rubles.
Renting this minibus is also popular. Here the cost of an hour ranges from 350 to 500 rubles.
Engine characteristics
The light-duty bus 322132 is built on the chassis of the GAZ-2705 van, but the technical characteristics of the models differ. The newer generation vehicle inherited the suspension and body elements from this van. However, changes were made to the design of the engines.
The GAZ 322132 minibus has two modifications, which differ from each other in the types of installed engines. The first of them is a domestically produced unit, the second is a foreign one. In the basic configuration, Gazelle 32213 received a fairly good power mechanism, the power of which is 106.8 hp. With. The gasoline engine, which runs on 4 cylinders, fully meets European environmental standards. In order to cover 100 km, the car will need a little more than 11 liters.
The diesel engine, which also runs on 4 cylinders, differs from the gasoline engine in the presence of a special air cooling system. With a power of 120 hp. With. it consumes approximately 10.3 liters per 100 km. The cars are equipped with a five-speed manual transmission. The braking system is represented by drum and disc mechanisms. The GAZ 332213 minibus is capable of speeds of up to 115 km/h.
