KAMAZ K4

KamAZ tank trucks

When using an all-wheel drive chassis, the load capacity of tank trucks is reduced, but this is compensated by higher cross-country ability. If you need a large tank volume, choose rear-wheel drive chassis with different wheel arrangements depending on the load capacity.

The tank truck is distinguished by the cross-section of the barrel (circle, oval or trapezoid). Each variety has its own pros and cons. The trapezoidal tank allows for a lower center of gravity, which significantly increases maneuverability. However, such a tank is more expensive, because it is more difficult to manufacture.

Oval tanks are the best option for transportation on city roads and country routes. They do not reduce cornering stability and do not have large overall dimensions. Round tanks are practically not used for transportation on truck chassis due to their low size-to-capacity ratio.

Each tank is structurally equipped with stiffening ribs, which prevent the destruction of the integrity of the body during movement due to water hammer. KAMAZ: large customers change every year, since it is impossible to endlessly update their fleets

The head of the press service of KAMAZ PJSC Oleg Afanasyev, commenting to Realnoe Vremya on the structure of the auto giant's portfolio of large orders, it never accounted for a large share in it, at best it accounted for 5-7 percent:

— The supply of electric buses is one of the active areas in which we are currently developing. It is quite obvious that passenger transport is developing more and more, cities are overcrowded, and Moscow is relying on passenger transport. And the growth of Mosgortrans in KAMAZ’s turnover is associated primarily, of course, with the supply of electric buses in the amount of thousands, since we won tenders, the last one in December,” said Oleg Afanasyev.

KAMAZ is not afraid of the fact that the portfolio may turn out to be undiversified, since 50% of the buses produced are supplied not to Moscow, but to other cities. Moscow is simply their largest consumer, and although the demand for buses is now generally high, only the capital of the Russian Federation purchases such volumes, the company explains. The Chelny plant also does not see anything critical in the fact that the share of large orders from Gazprom has decreased:

— When it comes to large orders and large partners, whether it is connected with government agencies or private companies, the leaders change every year. For the simple reason that vehicle fleets cannot be updated endlessly! Gazprom cannot buy, say, 3 thousand trucks a year for 10 years. He simply won’t need that much. The same applies to government agencies: there was a large program to update municipal enterprises in the road sector; parks in many cities were updated. If you look, there are new cleaning machines driving around in them. After this, another segment begins; a few years ago, for example, the agricultural park began to be updated,” explains Oleg Afanasyev. — Both Gazprom and Rosneft have gradually updated their fleet, and it’s the turn of other companies. The same situation applies to foreign supplies. Let's say that in a certain year our large deliveries go to Cuba; as soon as they have updated their vehicle fleet, they do not need new equipment. Turkmenistan appears, then Vietnam and so on.

KAMAZ has already decided to expand production by transferring part of the assembly for 1 billion to Moscow itself

And not necessarily on the Bashkir “daughter”. With such a large scale of purchases, Sergei Kogogin’s team tried to minimize the cost of production and supplies. And last summer, she announced her intention to assemble electric buses in Moscow itself - the project will cost 1 billion rubles. With the support of the Moscow government, the company will organize an assembly production of electric buses in the capital with a design capacity of at least 500 vehicles per year, promises to launch the production of electrical components for them and will create a center for innovative developments for electric passenger transport.

What’s interesting is that the project was implemented on the territory of the Sokolnichesky Car Repair and Construction Plant, and this is a branch of the State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans! Despite this, production will be carried out by KAMAZ, reported the Chelny automaker, which will reconstruct and build production facilities with a total area of ​​about 75,000 square meters. m. The project will be fully implemented in 2023.

Experts noted that the interest of Chelny residents is due to the fact that Moscow is the largest customer of electric buses in Russia. From 2022, the capital of the Russian Federation is going to purchase only electric buses, 800-1000 units per year, completely abandoning diesel buses. And NEFAZ’s capacity is not unlimited, as KAMAZ’s top managers themselves said in March 2022; now the capacity at NEFAZ is fully loaded (orders were accepted here only at the end of 2022), they are going to expand from 1,200 to 1,500 per year.

But the auto giant does not have a “family relationship” with the local Chelny authorities

Simultaneously with the successful cooperation with the Moscow carrier, the auto giant is having difficult disputes with the executive committee of Naberezhnye Chelny over debts on leasing payments and maintenance of 170 buses transferred by the plant to the city. As a result of a months-long conflict, the KAMAZ leasing company demanded the return of 124 buses from the Elektrotransport municipal unitary enterprise back in November last year.

While the situation is stalemate, last week the Arbitration Court of the Republic of Tatarstan gave Electric Transport until the end of January to resolve the dispute with the KAMAZ leasing company. However, Mosgortrans is not without “family quarrels”; for example, in March last year, KAMAZ demanded to recover 145.8 million rubles from the State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans.

Soon every fifth Moscow bus will roll off KAMAZ conveyors

The “happy marriage” between KAMAZ and Moscow began not so long ago, around 2022, or more precisely, from the autumn of that year, when KAMAZ PJSC and the Tekhinkom dealer promised to supply the Moscow State Unitary Enterprise Mosgortrans with the first batch in 2018-2020 1 thousand buses for a total amount of 15.4 billion rubles. For the first stage of delivery, buses must be produced no earlier than 2022, for the second stage - no earlier than 2022, for the third stage - no earlier than 2022. The first stage was scheduled for November 10 - December 31, 2022, the second - for January 1 - May 31, 2022, the third - for January 1 - April 30, 2022.

The first batch of buses was delivered in 2022 in the amount of 100 pieces; according to the terms of the contract, KAMAZ will service electric buses and charging stations for 15 years. By June 2022, more than 500 NEFAZs had already entered Moscow routes: the transport operated in the south, southwest, southeast, north, northwest and in the center of the capital of the Russian Federation, as well as in Zelenograd. It was expected that by the end of 2019 Moscow will receive about 700 more new vehicles. At the same time, Moscow has not one, but two main suppliers (see above): KAMAZ PJSC competes with GAZ Group. To understand the scale of KAMAZ deliveries (more than 1 thousand buses), it is worth keeping in mind that more than 5 thousand buses run in Moscow every day, that is, every fifth Moscow bus will soon be produced by KAMAZ.
