This truck has several main modified versions, including:

KamAZ-6450.

It is a truck tractor, mass production of which began in 2003. The model is capable of transporting any cargo on trailers with a total weight of up to 32,000 kilograms. From the factory, the modification is equipped with only one fuel tank, but owners replace it with an enlarged one and install another additional one, which together provides a range of 1,400 kilometers;

KamAZ-6350

with hydromechanical transmission. Unlike the base model, there is an 8-speed gearbox with electronic-hydraulic control. Gear changes are carried out automatically, which is very convenient. In addition, the new transmission made it possible to increase the truck's maneuverability in harsh road conditions. All other nodes were completely inherited from the base model;

This modification uses the standard KamAZ-63501 chassis as a basis. The model is capable of transporting super-heavy artillery units. In principle, this is its main purpose. The eight-cylinder V-shaped power unit was modernized, the maximum power of which was increased to 360 horsepower. However, this did not affect the maximum speed of movement. An all-metal cabin with two seats and a special residential module are installed, which can accommodate up to 6 people. This modification has been in military service since 2009. Design and purpose of the machine

Having become a more powerful alternative, KamAZ has 4 axles and all-wheel drive (8x8). From other models of the plant, it also received a differential transfer case. Each bridge has a two-stage gearbox. At the same time, the front ones regulate the angular speed for each wheel. The rear pair controls the axle differential locking. The insulation of the main components increased the tightness, making it possible to easily overcome water obstacles with a depth of more than 1.5 m.

Thanks to reinforced wheels, the SUV is able to move over walls up to 60 cm high or climb uphill with a slope of up to 31°. When working in a road train, the weight limit should not exceed 38 tons. According to user reviews, exceeding it leads to failure of the transmission. The 16-speed gearbox (installed on the latest versions) is not intended for such work - half of the gears slip, the second works crookedly.

Despite being equipped with improved driveshafts, an innovative clutch and reinforced armor for the driver's cabin (in the latest developments), the complex technical device does not allow for repairs in the field, which limits the use of this artillery tractor.

Loading platform

The basic version of the KamAZ-6350 is equipped with a metal cargo platform with folding rear and side sides.
