Purpose of pump 503
The rotary vane vacuum pump KO-503 is designed to create a vacuum or excess pressure in the tanks of vacuum MV machines at ambient temperatures from -20 to +40°C. TU 3648-002-50341404-05. Using the vacuum created by a vacuum pump, the tank is filled and emptied.
The pump is equipped with a KO-503 lubrication system for forced lubrication of the pump. When operating the pump, it is important to correctly adjust the oil supply: 12 drops per dropper per minute.
The KO-503 vacuum pump consists of a ribbed cast-iron body, closed on both sides with covers. Inside the housing there is a rotor that rotates on two bearings. Textolite blades (technical plates) are installed in the rotor grooves.

Varieties of the model
Vacuum pumps of the described model are divided into products with right rotation of the rotor (clockwise) and with left rotation. The first option is suitable for installations used on GAZ 3309 trucks, as well as for diesel sewer trucks without ABS. The vacuum cleaner pump with left rotation is designed to work on GAZ 3309 vehicles with ABS and GAZ 3307 with the KO-503B vacuum system.
The KO-503 vacuum pump is marked as KO-503.02.14.000. Thanks to the cast-iron ribbed body and alarm and safety device, this equipment is characterized by reliability, durability and economical operation. Main terms of use:
- the device should not be allowed to operate continuously for an hour or more;
- It is necessary to change worn out blades in a timely manner.

Pump contamination due to dirt entering through the pipeline. | Disassemble the pump, wash the parts, reassemble the pump. Clean the pipeline from dust and dirt.
External contamination of the pump. | Clean the pump.
Knock in the pump. | Wear of pump rotor bearings. Recession of blades in the rotor grooves. Traces of potholes from the blades up to 2 mm deep appeared on the inner surface of the body. | Replace bearings. The material of the blades is textolite PT-6 grade GOST 5-78. Bore the inner diameter of the pump housing to 165+0.26 mm. (measuring instrument - caliper ШЦ -II-250-0.05GOST166-89). Make a repair set of blades with a height of 44.5-0.5 mm (measuring tool ShTs-I-125-0.1-2GOST166-89 caliper). |

Equipment with pump KO-503: Vacuum machines on GAZ chassis
Application
Do you need to create a vacuum or excess pressure in the tanks? In this case, we recommend buying a vacuum pump for the KO-503 sewer truck. The left-hand rotation model is mounted on the GAZ 3307. A modification of the right-hand rotation pump is suitable for the GAZ 3309. In addition, this vacuum pump is also suitable for the GAZ 53.
The left direction of rotation of the rotor shaft is suitable for cars with diesel and carburetor engines equipped with ABS. The right one is suitable for cars with diesel engines, without an anti-lock braking system.

Sludge and vacuum equipment do an excellent job of cleaning septic tanks, wells, cesspools, sedimentation tanks, pipeline elements, sewer and stormwater systems. Similar municipal equipment allows you to free space from accumulated silt or oil sludge. A modern sludge suction device washes away sediment by connecting the necessary devices to the operation.
Design features:
The basis of the special sludge sucking machine is hydraulics, a pneumatic hydraulic system, a pump and a metal tank. In addition to the listed components, the design of the unit must include additional electrical equipment. Despite all its reliability, such equipment is prone to breakdowns during operation due to physical wear of spare parts or exposure to external factors.
the pump that fails - it experiences constant mechanical and electrical pressure, so malfunctions during movement are almost inevitable.
The rotary vane hydraulic pump operates in conjunction with other hydraulic equipment designed in the design. The hydraulic pump housing ensures that wastewater and sewage are pumped into a special canister for subsequent transportation to the disposal site. In a short period of time, the KO series pump creates the required vacuum in the puncture chamber. As soon as it reaches a certain value, the pumped debris will begin to flow into the storage tank.
Individual sets that are part of more complex mechanisms: gears, sleeves . A special equipment safety valve is responsible for maintaining a given vacuum pressure force inside the tank . If in good condition, it blocks the so-called suction hole provided on the vacuum line as soon as the machine’s container is filled. In most units, the safety valve is installed in the cover.
An equally important detail is considered to be a hydraulic hose , which is connected to the receiving hatch using a union nut, fits tightly onto the hose sleeve and is firmly fixed.
The receiving entrance, made of a small hatch, is located on the rear side of the tank on the flange. It looks like a gate or valve and serves as a connecting element between the tank and the hose. These parts act as the basic unit of the suction line.

Comparison of vacuum pumps for various municipal vehicles
The vacuum pump is designed to create a vacuum in the tank of vacuum and sludge sucking machines. It consists of a cast iron housing in which the rotor is eccentrically mounted on bearings. Textolite blades move freely in the grooves in the rotor. When the rotor rotates, the blades, due to centrifugal force, are pressed against the inner surface of the pump housing. Air is pumped due to changes in the volumes of cells formed by an eccentrically located rotor, textolite plates, pump housing and end covers. The pump is equipped with a lubrication system. Lubricant flows to the bearings and into the suction cavity of the pump. The amount of supplied oil is regulated by adjusting screws. For long-term operation of the vacuum pump, it is necessary to keep the pump clean, prevent the housing from heating above 80°C, monitor the oil consumption of the lubrication system (oil consumption should be 12 drops per minute with each dropper (120 g/hour with all droppers), periodically flush the oil tank and fill it with clean filtered oil K-12 GOST 10877-76.
Vacuum machines use pumps KO-503V.02.14.100, KO-505A.02.15.100, KO-522A.02.01.100, KO-510.02.16.000.
The KO-503 vane-rotor pump is designed to create a vacuum or excess pressure in tanks of vacuum machines of the KO type based on the chassis of GAZ -3307, GAZ-3309, GAZ-53 (KO-503V, KO-503V-2, KO-503V) cars -3, KO-503V-ABS, KO-503V-2-ABS, KO-503V-3-ABS), operating at temperatures from minus 20 °C to plus 40 °C. Its cast-iron body is closed on both sides with caps with bearings and has holes for introducing lubricant from a nearby tank. Inside the housing there is a rotor that rotates on two bearings. Textolite blades are installed in the rotor grooves. Model KO-503 0214100 has left-hand torsion, and model KO-503 0214100-02 has right-hand torsion.
The KO-505A pump is a vacuum pump for vehicles based on ZIL, KAMAZ, URAL, MAZ. The pump housing is ribbed cast iron, closed on both sides with covers. The pump is operated at temperatures from minus 20 °C to plus 40 °C. The rotor body has built-in blades made of durable textolite. Oil is supplied to the mechanism automatically when the device is turned on.
The KO-510 pump is designed for installation of machines on the chassis of MAZ, GAZ, URAL, ZIL, KAMAZ vehicles. Operates in a temperature range from minus 20 °C to plus 40 °C. The design of the KO-510 pump, similar to the design of the KO-505 pump, has a larger volume and performance than the similar pumps KO-503, KO-505. Therefore, the KO-510 vacuum pump heats up more, for which two fans are installed on both sides. Model KO-510 0216000-04 has right-hand rotation, and model KO-510 0216000-05 has left-hand rotation.
Vacuum pump KO-522 is a vane-rotor pump, used on vacuum machines KO-522A, KO-503V. Can be used at temperatures from -20 to +40Cº. The KO-522 pump has more reliable blades compared to textolite. KO-522. Manufactured in two versions: KO-522A.02.01.100-01 - right rotation and KO-522A.02.01.100 - left rotation.
