A small truck, developed at VazInterServis JSC, was created using the experience accumulated during the creation of the Bisons. The vehicle is of semi-frame construction (the frame is at the rear of the car) using a “classic” chassis. The front part of the semi-frame goes under the cabin and is welded to its side members (the cabin is the front part of the “five” or “four”). And in the rear part, the drive axle is suspended on Moskvich springs.
The main version of the cargo compartment is a body with folding sides made of aluminum profiles. A plastic “cap” with a hinged back cover can be installed on it. But besides this, whatever your heart desires can be installed on the chassis, for example, an insulated container.

LADA Granta Cross pickup truck – the first images of the new Lada have appeared

Fans of the Lada family of domestic cars were recently pleasantly surprised by the appearance of the first Lada Granta Cross raider - a pickup truck with an open cargo area. We must pay tribute to the Hungarian comrades from the art studio X-Tomi Design, thanks to whom the imaginary became contemplated.

It is worth noting that the Magyars managed to realize in their sketches an almost exact copy of a real Lada pickup truck. “What does this all mean?” - you ask.

Yes, the thing is that now this long-awaited car for many car enthusiasts has appeared before us in all its glory in a much more realistic, rather than hypothetical, image.

It's no secret that the updated Lada Granta was presented to the general public last summer. Then, the car premiered at the Moscow Motor Show. After this significant event, as experts note, things went sharply uphill for the cars of the represented brand.

Over the past few months, the new Lada has not left the top lines of leading Russian and sometimes foreign ratings. However, in the line of modifications of the Lada Grant, as noted by some auto analysts, there is a so-called “vacancy”. It should be occupied by the same pickup truck that the Hungarian artists did a great job on. Let's take a closer look at this outstanding creation.

When you first look at the presented image, there is no doubt that this is the familiar Lada Granta. Features that are especially familiar to this car can be seen in the elements of its front part: the same curved radiator grille, smoothly turning into slightly elongated angular optics. The front body kit of the car remains the same. Moving closer to the rear of the car, the appearance of the traditional Lada is somewhat different.

The car, which is quite acceptable for a pickup truck, has lost two rear doors. The side glazing is two-section: one part is the door glass, the second is represented by a small section fixed in the frame. Next comes the car body itself. In general, the presented raider is made to the highest class: all the proportions of the car are respected, all elements are harmoniously combined with each other, creating a stylish and unique image of a modern car.

They plan to produce the car with several bodies: an onboard one with a removable plastic cap and three types of vans - isothermal (with a wall thickness of 30, 40 or 50 mm), a refrigerator and the so-called manufactured goods. The latest version also has an extended version - the outer length of the cargo section is 2200 mm versus 1900 mm for the standard one. We got it for a test drive.

The car looks modern and even stylish. The metallic-painted cabin is not at all a privilege of the exhibition model. This will be the case in the series, since cars are painted using AVTOVAZ’s Prior line. The interior, of course, is from the Lada-Grant in the “Standard” configuration. Everything is logical, because trucks, even semi-light ones, are in good demand in the cheapest versions - air conditioners and all sorts of other ABS are not popular here. But the driver’s airbag, like the donor’s, will become the norm. The rear part rests on leaf springs capable of providing a rated load capacity of 720 kg. You can get into the body from different sides - through a double-leaf rear door or through a single-leaf side door on the right side. All of them swing open all the way and are held in place by reliable latches located on the walls of the van.

It’s easy to drive – it’s not for nothing that VIS-AUTO’s designers consider the cabin to be the most spacious. On the move, the truck is naturally stiffer than the Granta, but it is very indifferent to road irregularities and does not show a tendency to vertical swing even on a large wave. The higher the speed, the smoother the car goes, sometimes resembling an arrow fired from a bow. VIS has retained almost car-like handling, but this only applies to an empty car. Obviously, with a heavy load the car will not be playful.

Ukrainian "heel"

The superstructure is made neatly and even looks elegant. There are no rough spots on the outside, the paint quality is no different from the rest of the car. The internal surfaces, of course, are simpler: they are rough to the touch, and very much so. This will cause inconvenience during thermal insulation - it is better to glue PPE or other materials onto a smooth surface. The quality of the mating between plastic and metal is not perfect, but not ugly either. Between the resulting cabin and body, a metal partition was installed with a small window embedded in it (though not always), and what was left of the rear doors was tightly welded.

However, contrary to logic, the first to be used outside the VAZ territory were not such utilitarian vehicles, but pickup trucks of a much more complex design. Specialists from the AvtoVAZ maintenance system developed and launched small-scale production of the Bison pickup truck on the platform of the most popular VAZ-2121, which at that time was called the Niva.
