Design and operating features
The Cat D10T is designed to withstand increased component and frame loads. The result is a model that is as tough as the Cat D9R. The support beams for the bulldozer were manufactured using continuous rolling technology.
The reinforced frame, made of box-section beams, can withstand increased shock loads and ensures rigid fixation of equipment components. The bulldozer's side members are made by continuous rolling without welding or machining, which gives the frame additional strength. The swing axis runs through the main frame and is connected to the roller frames, allowing them to move independently. The Caterpillar D10T is designed with a sealed and hinged balancer bar to improve machine stability and reduce shock loads.
A special feature of the series is the Tag-Link blade stabilizer, which brings the device as close as possible to the bulldozer to control loads and improve accuracy. The mechanism provides optimal lateral stability of the blade and increases operating efficiency.
The Cat D10T chassis is characterized by a long service life. A special suspension compensates for up to 50% of dynamic and shock loads. The contact area between the tracks and the ground is increased by 15%, which improves traction on uneven ground and reduces slipping. The rollers have symmetrical Duo-Cone seals that prevent dirt ingress and oil leakage. The tubular design, complemented by reinforcing elements, increases the service life of the roller frames. The customer can select track shoes based on specific operating conditions.
Another feature of the chassis is the support roller stand, made as part of the bogie frame. This allows the operator to install the support roller even in the field.
The transmission is based on a planetary gearbox with power shift capability. Speed selection (3 forward and 3 reverse) occurs using oil-cooled friction clutches with a large diameter. Thanks to the electronic clutch pressure control system, smooth gear shifting is achieved. The gearbox and power train are modular in design for easy maintenance. A liquid cooler is used to increase heat dissipation.
Like most brand products, the Caterpillar D10T transmission has a torque divider that transfers 75% of the force through the torque converter, 25% through the drive shaft.
The brake system of the equipment is activated by springs and released using a hydraulic drive.
A powerful hydraulic system (capacity - 404 l/min) allows you to work with a wide range of attachments:
- bulldozer blades of spherical and hemispherical type. The double skew system allows the operator to adjust the optimal skew angle. The cutting edges are made of DH-2 steel, the corner cutters are made of DH-3 steel;
- single-shank and multi-shank rippers with adjustable penetration distance from the cab;
- winches;
- rear counterweights (recommended for modifications without rear attachments).
In the standard version, the Cat D10T cabin is mounted on damping supports, which reduce vibration and noise in the cabin. The operator is provided with a fully adjustable Comfort chair, providing maximum comfort when working. The ventilation deflectors are strategically positioned to ensure uniform air circulation in the cabin. An additional air conditioner is optionally installed. The dozer's cab allows the operator complete control of the work area thanks to a wide frame opening, glass doors and a tapered hood.
The machine controls are located extremely conveniently, which helps reduce operator fatigue. The combined instrument panel and Advisor Monitoring System provide operational information about the status of the bulldozer's main systems and the need for maintenance.
Controls:
- blade control lever (main equipment);
- push-button control system (gear shifting and travel);
- electronic ripper controls;
- CAES system – installed optionally;
- FTC system (push-button control) – installed optionally;
- AccuGrade function (automatic blade control mechanism) - installed upon request.
Bulldozer downtime is kept to a minimum due to low maintenance requirements. Convenient filter placement, improved indicators, and easier access to fittings make periodic and daily maintenance much easier. The ripper and blade model has 18 service points. The Product Link monitoring system provides machine information directly to the office workstation, constantly updating data on engine hours, route and location.
Engine
The Caterpillar D10T is powered by a proprietary Cat C27 ACERT 4-stroke turbocharged diesel engine. Engine Features:
- an electronic control unit of the ADEM A4 type allows you to regulate the supply of air and fuel to obtain maximum power per unit of fuel. The system instantly responds to changes in power demand, adjusting the fuel supply to it;
- sequential air cooling ensures the flow of compressed cold air into the manifold, reducing exhaust toxicity;
- The overhead camshafts are gear driven on the flywheel side. Due to this, vibration and noise are significantly reduced. To reduce wear, 2 balancing dampers are installed;
- The fuel system uses multiple fuel injection, which increases fuel efficiency, minimizes toxicity and reduces the temperature in the combustion chamber. The simplicity of the design and the accuracy of the system in this case are optimally balanced.
Characteristics of the Cat C27 ACERT motor:
- working volume – 27 l;
- rated power – 433 (580) kW (hp);
- rated speed – 1800 rpm;
- number of cylinders – 1 2;
- cylinder diameter – 137.2 mm;

Cost of equipment and maintenance Caterpillar D10T
A used Cat D10 bulldozer can be purchased for $400,000. The high cost fully corresponds to the resulting quality and reliability. Timely diagnostics of systems and replacement of filters, checking the functionality of the cooling radiator will guarantee long-term and uninterrupted operation of the equipment.
The cost of replacing parts is significant. But their high quality allows you to use original spare parts for many years. Ease of maintenance of the model is ensured by automating the check of oil, diesel and coolant levels when starting the engine. All information is displayed on the screen and allows the operator to study the available volume of liquids. The developers provided easy access to the internal systems of equipment for repair and replacement and took care of the reliable protection of each unit.
