Auto mechanic, specializes in agricultural equipment
Agro walk-behind tractors are widely used among farmers and land owners. They help with plowing, harrowing, mowing unnecessary plants, and they can even be adapted for removing snow and transporting various loads.
These units have been produced in Ufa since 1999. The main feature is that engines for equipment are made in Russia, which significantly reduces the cost. In most cases, the Agro walk-behind tractor is equipped with a UMZ 341 engine, the repair of which is facilitated by the fact that the engine was designed right at the factory. Great reliability and good power are perfectly combined with the simplicity of the device control process. The significant weight and high pulling force provide excellent assistance in replacing manual labor with machinery.

How to choose an engine
To choose a suitable engine for the Argo walk-behind tractor, you need to know the basic technical characteristics of the unit for the compatibility of the motor and other components:
- The body has a length of 180 centimeters, a width of 85, and a height of 110 cm. The ground clearance reaches 25 cm, and the rotation is carried out within a radius of 1.2 meters.
- The assembled weight of the device is about 160 kilograms.
Important! Such significant dimensions make transportation to the place of future work difficult.
The engines are immediately produced of good quality, since the equipment is intended to be used in difficult conditions and heavy loads. The lubrication system has been improved. Previously, the oil was sprayed, but now a method has been developed in which the lubricant is supplied by a specially designed pump to reduce friction of the main contacting parts. Before this, the oil is cleaned in a filter.
Prices in Russia
The Agro walk-behind tractor is widely in demand in branded stores, as well as in the second-hand market. The equipment has been on the market for quite a long time, so there are a huge number of offers on the secondary market. Thus, the average price of a used copy today is 25 thousand rubles. The most complete version will cost about 45 thousand.
As for a new car, everything is much more complicated. Taking into account its high popularity, the new Agro walk-behind tractor in the basic version costs no less than 55 thousand rubles. Often the price reaches 60 thousand rubles.
Agro successfully competes with domestic and imported models, and is relatively inexpensive. In terms of characteristics, this walk-behind tractor can be compared with the Belarus-09N, Burlak 10 DF, and Belarus 08 MT machines.
Engines for walk-behind tractor Agro
Motoblocks of this brand can be equipped with engines from various manufacturers, both Russian and made abroad. They should all have similar characteristics. Let's look at the most popular of them.
In this video we will look at replacing the engine of an Agro walk-behind tractor:
UMZ 341
This engine has one cylinder with four strokes. The fuel is gasoline. A carburetor is assumed to have an overhead valve arrangement. Ignition is carried out using a spark. The shaft is located horizontally relative to the engine installation, and the cylinder is at a certain angle. There is a speed controller with several modes. Main parameters:
- The cylinder volume is 333 cubic centimeters.
- Power, depending on the configuration, varies from 4 to 5.5 hp.
- Contactless ignition.
- The air is purified using a dry filter.
- Lubrication is carried out using a combination method.
- The total weight of the engine is 35 kg.
- Able to operate at temperatures from +40 to -20 degrees Celsius and relative humidity up to 98%.
This type of engine is the best for the Agro walk-behind tractor, since the price of the device starts from only 4,500 rubles.
Lifan
This is a more affordable Chinese version of engines from the Japanese company HONDA. Models of this brand are perfectly combined with Agro walk-behind tractors. LIFAN motors guarantee:
- High-quality and tested assembly.
- Reliability of all components.
- Optimal ratio of weight and dimensions with equipment.
- Long-term operation without breakdowns with proper use in accordance with the attached instructions.
- Easy to use and maintain.
The device has a power of 11 hp, a manual start system, and has a large fuel tank with a capacity of 6.5 liters of gasoline. The weight of the unit is 33 kg.
The price of Lifan engines, in relation to Agro walk-behind tractors, is about 15,000 rubles, but for this money you will get a high-quality and unpretentious assistant.
Due to the fact that the motor has a simple design, it is widely used not only in agriculture, but also for military equipment. This device is produced at the Ulyanovsk Motor Plant. Peculiarities:
- Two cylinders.
- Crank and timing mechanism in the crankcase.
- It is assumed that the engine has a lubrication and cooling system.
- Gasoline with a low octane number is used as fuel, resulting in low performance.
- The weight of the structure is large, approximately 72 kilograms, which, with a length of 55 cm, a width of 48.5 cm and a height of 55.5 cm, significantly complicates the transportation of the product.
Owner reviews of the Agros walk-behind tractor
Pros.
On agricultural forums you can find many kind words addressed to the Agros walk-behind tractor from its owners. The nature of these reviews is approximately as follows: “I have been using Agros for 10 (or more) years, and have never regretted this purchase.” It is noted that this walk-behind tractor can withstand heavy loads and all the most difficult operating conditions very well.
Agros has a very robust, efficient and durable engine, which, provided that the oil is changed regularly, does not cause any problems. The walk-behind tractor transmission is also very reliable and unpretentious in operation and maintenance. In addition to cultivating the soil, the Agros walk-behind tractor also performs excellently in mowing: it mows efficiently, is not afraid of hitting bumps and other “surprises” of the terrain that are not noticeable in the tall grass.
Minuses.
According to many owners, the cutter of the Akros walk-behind tractor is not designed to work on heavy soils or to great depths: “You can’t work with it like a regular walk-behind tractor - with cutters instead of wheels. Too high speed. Can only be used for shallow processing, and it is better to immediately reduce the speed.” "Agros" loosens the soil quite finely - approximately 8 centimeters deep; if you want deeper processing, you have to go through the same area twice.
There are some instances of walk-behind tractors with other carburetors designed for operation in power plants. In conjunction with such a carburetor, the engine may stall in the event of sudden increases in load. The problem is solved by replacing the fuel nozzle.
In other words, the complaint about the operation of this carburetor is that the walk-behind tractor engine is capable of operating in a variety of modes, but the carburetor is unable to support this: at idle and medium speeds there are no problems, but when heavy loads occur, up to full load , the speed starts to fluctuate, or the engine stalls.
Some owners are outraged that the fuel tank has a flat bottom. It’s good that it’s compact, but it doesn’t provide fuel to the engine when the tank is not full and under different operating modes of the walk-behind tractor! It would be better to make the tank cylindrical, or with a “cone-shaped” bottom, indicate the owners of Akros.
Some people find it not very convenient to work with a cutter: “the PTO lever is made low, there would be something like a bull bar in front.” There is also quite significant noise and vibration during the operation of the walk-behind tractor, which quickly tires both hands and ears.
But in general, it should be noted that the Akros walk-behind tractor has not earned any truly serious complaints over all these years, and is a very reliable professional-level equipment.
Malfunctions and their elimination
Long-term operation of the part directly depends on proper operation and running-in of the new motor, as well as on timely maintenance and proper care. But any equipment is subject to wear and tear. Let's look at the main operational problems:
- Unstable startup and malfunctions.
- Malfunctions in the chassis.
- Problems in the functioning of the gearbox. Oil may leak, change speed on its own, or, conversely, not turn on. It is better to contact knowledgeable specialists and not engage in independent repair of this complex unit in the unit.
- The clutch is not working properly.
- Violation in the lubrication and cooling system.
- The engine does not start. Let's look in more detail at the causes and solutions.
- No fuel. Just refuel the unit.
- The hole in the neck of the gas tank is clogged. Open the lid, clean it and put it back in place.
To troubleshoot problems, contact a technician for help.
- Gasoline is leaking from the carburetor. Adjust the injection system.
- The filter is clogged. It should be cleaned or replaced.
- The engine is noisy, knocks and operates jerkily. You need to adjust the valves using a feeler gauge.
- The starter starts unstably. In this case, it is better to replace the failed parts.
- The speaker circuit is faulty. This happens when a part jams. To avoid further damage to the clutch, it is better to replace it in time.
Breakdowns and repairs
The Agro unit differs from other heavy-duty models in its long service life and reliable operation.
The operation of the walk-behind tractor is influenced by operating conditions, proper running-in after purchasing the factory unit, and timely maintenance and care.
If the unit is under warranty, then all repair work must be carried out by the module manufacturer. The owner has no right to open the seals and repair it. If the malfunctions of the walk-behind tractor are minor, then you can adjust its operation yourself.
Possible breakdowns and damage are presented in the repair instructions for the Agros walk-behind tractor and have a general appearance. Among them are the following:
- problems with starting and engine malfunctions;
- The chassis does not work;
- malfunctions in the gearbox (gearbox);
- clutch failures;
- the lubrication and cooling system is broken.
If the engine does not start, the reasons and solutions are as follows:
- There is no fuel in the fuel tank. Fill the tank with fuel.
- The hole in the gas tank cap is clogged. Open the tank cap, clean the hole and reinstall.
- Fuel is leaking from the carburetor. It is necessary to adjust the carburetor of the walk-behind tractor.
- Fuel system clogged. Drain the fuel from the fuel tank, rinse with gasoline and blow out the carburetor jets, inspect the spark plug.
- Filter clogged. Replace or clean the filter.
If the engine operates with noise, knocking or jerking, it is necessary to adjust the valves on the Agro walk-behind tractor using special probes.
If the idle speed is unstable, the gap in the gearbox cover may be too large, so it is necessary to adjust the gap to 0.2-0.5 mm.
A decrease in the power of the walk-behind tractor is possible in the following cases:
- clogging of the carburetor, gas hose, air filter;
- crankcase cuff failure;
- carbon deposits in the combustion chamber.
Elimination methods include inspection, cleaning all parts, and blowing off the hose.
If the starter of the Agro walk-behind tractor fails or the fuse blows, the best solution is to replace unsuitable parts.
Malfunctions of the gearbox chain appear as a result of its jamming. The clutch can be damaged if the chain breaks, so it needs to be replaced.
The following failures and breakdowns are possible in the gearbox:
- the kinematics inside the gearbox are disrupted;
- spontaneous gear changes or their complete absence;
- oil leak on the shift shaft.
It is better to repair the box in special workshops. A gearbox is a complex unit, and you can’t do it without knowledge of mechanics.
Ignition system
In the “why there is no spark” problem, the reasons for the breakdown lie in the details, such as:
- candle;
- magneto;
- cap;
- high voltage wire.
If there is no spark or sparks weakly, it is necessary to adjust the intermediate gap and check the condition of the electrodes. The gap norm is 0.8 mm.
When there are changes in the gap between the intake and exhaust valves on the engine, they are tightened or relaxed to the permissible value.
A low compression ratio has been detected in the cylinder. All worn parts are removed and replaced.
Cleaning the muffler will also help get rid of the spark problem.
Engine replacement
If the engine for an Agro walk-behind tractor breaks down and needs to be replaced, use an adapter kit. Instead of a native motor, imported ones with a cylindrical shaft with a diameter of 25 mm are suitable:
- Weima - with a power of 13 hp. With.;
- Subaru EX 27 - 9 l. With.;
- Honda 9 - 13 l. With.;
- Lifan 9 - 13 l. With.
Replacing the engine is as follows:
- remove the motor from the cultivator and dismantle the clutch mechanism;
- remove the drive cup under the conical shaft and replace it with one machined under the cylindrical one;
- A walk-behind tractor clutch is installed on the imported engine and connected to the transmission.
Spare parts
With constant use of the machine, spare parts may wear out. Most often, parts of the clutch mechanism and bearings need to be replaced. There are no problems with choosing parts for Agro. They can be purchased both from official dealers of the company and in the open market.
Unstable speed
The main complaint of owners about the operation of the device is the instability of engine speed, as a result of which it begins to sneeze.
The cause of the malfunction may be the establishment of a large gap in the gearbox cover, which should be adjusted to values from 0.2 to 0.5 millimeters. In this case, power may decrease, which is a consequence of contamination of the carburetor, fuel pump hose or air exhaust filter, as well as crankcase failure and carbon deposits in the fuel combustion chamber. You just need to inspect and clean all the components.
Operating rules
Before you start working on this unit, you should thoroughly study what the operating instructions contain. The engine of the Agro walk-behind tractor is unpretentious to fuel; it is permissible to use the following brand of gasoline:
- AI-80;
- AI-92;
- AI-95.
The second Lifan engine requires only 92 and 95 marks
It is important that the fuel is clean and free of impurities. The tap is located 1.6 cm from the bottom of the tank, so you should keep in mind that the fuel located at the bottom remains in the tank and does not enter the engine
A similar design was made with the intention that as many foreign impurities as possible would enter the engine. Before starting work, you should fill at least half of the tank.
It is better to use M-5z/10G1 oil in the cold season. When the weather is warm outside, it is best to use oil M-6Z/12G1. It is also possible to use universal compounds 10W-30 and 15W-30. It is recommended to change the oil every hundred hours of operation of the unit. The crankcase has a volume of 1.22 liters. Transmissions are usually lubricated with standard Nigrol, but any equivalent labeled 80W-90 will also work. The transmission tank can hold 2.55 liters of fuel.
If we talk about controls, the levers are extremely unpretentious in operation, their repair and adjustment are simple. For lubrication, ordinary grease or its equivalent is quite suitable.
At the beginning of work, you should pay close attention to the correct filling of fuel: not only gasoline, but also oil is poured, otherwise there is a risk of engine damage. After purchasing a new device, it is recommended to “ride” a little empty at the very beginning so that the dynamic components get used to each other
It is useful to carry out some simple field work using only 50% of the power of the power plant.
The K45R carburetor forms the fuel mixture; the importance of its work cannot be underestimated. At the beginning of the warm season, this important unit should be configured and adjusted
To do this, the following steps are taken:
- the screws that are responsible for adjusting the gas are removed, then they need to be tightened back a couple of turns;
- The engine warms up for about 15 minutes, while the lever responsible for the operation of the power plant is placed in its extreme position.
- using the throttle, the minimum idle mode of the engine is set;
- adjustment is made using screws (if you unscrew too many of them, more gasoline will flow).
Change of oil
The oil should be changed immediately after break-in. Next, you need to replace it before the summer and winter seasons.
The sequence looks like this:
- Drain the oil when the engine is not cool. You need to tilt the unit, unscrew the drain plug from the neck cap to fill the lubricant.
- Wait until the liquid is completely removed.
- Fill in new oil in the same volume and measure the level using a dipstick.
Attention! It is recommended to change the spark plugs along with the lubricant.
Motoblocks from Agro have proven themselves in the segment of inexpensive and high-quality devices, which are very popular and in demand among farmers and owners of summer cottages.
Sooner or later, any technology fails in the system. The reasons for such troubles can be very different: failure to comply with operating conditions, wear of old parts, poor-quality assembly of the unit itself, etc. In any case, no matter what of these reasons, the equipment needs to be repaired. Today we will talk about all sorts of malfunctions with Agro walk-behind tractors. We will try to figure out the repair without contacting service centers.
Design
The design of the walk-behind tractor is simple; repairing the unit in the field is not difficult; you can always find the necessary spare parts on the market at a reasonable price. Characteristics of "Agro":
- case length 1182 mm;
- height 855 mm and 1110 mm;
- ground clearance 252 mm;
- turning radius 1210 mm;
- non-adjustable track width 610 mm;
- the structure weighs 162 kg.
This unit has its drawbacks, but there are noticeably more obvious advantages. The walk-behind tractor is designed for a processing depth of up to 205 mm, while the traction impulse can reach 100 kgf. The walk-behind tractor can transport half a ton of cargo at a speed of 15.2 km/h. The engine is equipped with a UMZ-341 carburetor, which runs on low-octane gasoline. The motor has a “progenitor” - the Honda GX240 engine. The power plant is also capable of operating on 92 gasoline.
The engine has:
- volume 0.3 liters;
- power 8 horsepower;
- torque 17 N/m;
- There is only one cylinder in the engine, its diameter is 79 millimeters.
Fuel is consumed on average two liters per hour, its actual consumption is 395 (289) g/kW per hour. The oil is supplied under pressure using a pump, passing through the filter, it is well cleaned.
Additional dimensions:
- track 610 mm (changes possible up to 755 mm);
- turning radius 655 mm;
- does not have a frame frame, instead there is a transmission housing;
- wheel parameters 6x12 inches;
- tire pressure 0.09 -14 MPa.
The starter for a walk-behind tractor is the most important element; without it, the engine cannot operate normally. The part often fails; replacing it is easy. Also in the power plant there is a backup starter - an electric starter (on the latest models there are two of them). You can also start the engine manually
It is important to note that the battery capacity affects the duration of the starter operation.
If a strange grinding noise is heard in the gearbox, this is a signal that you need to add oil to the gearbox. It also happens that the oil is of poor quality. Therefore, it is best to use the lubricant recommended in the operating instructions. If, while using the walk-behind tractor, complaints arise about the gearbox, then it should be disassembled and the gear teeth should be straightened. It often happens that the teeth need to be replaced. To correctly adjust the axial arrangement of the shafts, you should install another rings for fixation. Bearings also often wear out and should be replaced.
The unit has a 6.2-liter fuel tank, the engine consumes about three liters per hour of operation. Much depends on the volume of valve operation and the load on the engine; consumption can reach four liters. On the market, walk-behind tractors are sold on average from 25 to 30 thousand rubles; there is always a steady demand for such equipment. A new, fully equipped unit will cost at least 46 thousand rubles. If the equipment is “zero”, that is, completely new, then the price can reach up to 65 thousand rubles.

Engine starting problems
Motor malfunctions are divided into two categories:
- The engine won't start at all.
- The engine runs, but intermittently.
If the diesel engine on an Agro walk-behind tractor does not start: reasons and solution
- Before starting the engine on a walk-behind tractor, you need to conduct a thorough inspection of all equipment. Are all parts and fasteners in place and how are they secured?
- One of the reasons for this problem may be stagnation after a cold winter, which leads to the following problems:
- contacts oxidize;
- oil and fuel are watered;
- the jets in the carburetor become clogged;
- The wire insulation may be damaged.
Operating and Maintenance Instructions
Before you start using the Agro walk-behind tractor, read the operating instructions. Keep the instructions for the entire period of use of the unit.
Oil and fuel
Recommended by the manufacturer:
- engine oil - for air-cooled carburetor engines, according to the season, for example, SAE15W/30;
- gearbox oil - SAE80/W90;
- fuel - gasoline AI-86, 90;
- lubricants - Litol-24, synthetic grease, fatty grease.
First launch and run-in
Before the first start, set the gearbox lever to neutral and the PTO to the disengaged position.
It is allowed to perform light types of transport work (with a light trailer load), as well as work with a walk-behind tractor at partial engine load.
Main causes of breakdowns
The Agro walk-behind tractor may not start for several reasons:
- insufficient amount of fuel;
- insufficient oil level;
- hypothermia of the walk-behind tractor, too low air temperature (in winter);
- more serious faults requiring repair.
The most common problems:
- oil leakage (can occur due to wear of the cuffs or due to their damage, can be eliminated by replacing the cuffs);
- the clutch is not completely disengaged (the clutch lever moves freely, the cable is pulled too far, this can be eliminated by replacing or shortening the cable, as well as adjusting the lever to normal);
- there is no full torque (perhaps the pressure spring is weakened or the drive cup is worn out, this can be eliminated by replacement or adjustment).

Setting up components and mechanisms
How to determine for an Agro walk-behind tractor that the diesel engine does not start due to malfunctions of components and mechanisms. Everything is very simple, if after the following series of operations the engine fails when starting, then the problem is in the mechanisms:
To determine the cause of failure in the nodes, you must first conduct a detailed diagnosis. The diagnostics performed will be able to identify the true cause of the malfunction, and this could be:
- the fuel supply path may be clogged;
- carburetor is broken;
- the air filter may not let air in;
- The hole in the gas tank cap is clogged.
It is also important to pay attention to the spark plug; if it is dry, it means that fuel is not entering the combustion chamber. What we do in this case:
- Completely drain the gasoline.
- Clean and rinse the tank.
- Clean the filter.
- Blow out the fuel supply hose.
- We blow out the jets in the carburetor.
- We fill the tank.
- Open the faucet.
- We are cleaning the respiratory canal.
Main malfunctions of walk-behind tractors
Diesel and gasoline engines have different motor resources. For the former, the normal figure is 4000 m/h, but the latter are capable of providing only 1500 m/h. Despite this, diesel models of walk-behind tractors are not in high demand. After all, both when purchased and during operation they are much more expensive. Therefore, most likely, you are working with a walk-behind tractor equipped with a gasoline (carburetor) engine.
All breakdowns that may occur during the operation of agricultural mini-equipment can be divided into two categories:
- Engine faults:
- startup problems;
- malfunctions.
- Malfunctions of other components and mechanisms:
- improper clutch operation;
- breakdowns in the gearbox;
- problems with the chassis;
- control and automation malfunctions;
- malfunctions of walk-behind tractor systems (cooling, lubrication, etc.).
In many ways, the success of repairing a suddenly broken machine depends on the correctness of the diagnosis. As for maintenance, it is carried out precisely in order to identify small faults that will later lead to serious ones.
If you do not have the necessary knowledge, premises, tools and materials necessary to service and repair the motor, entrust the work to a specialist!
Ignition system repair
The cause of a breakdown in the ignition may be hidden in the following parts: spark plug, magneto, cap and high-voltage wire. How to troubleshoot various problems:
- If there is no or weak spark, you need to adjust the intermediate gap and the condition of the electrodes. The adjustment gap should be standard 0.8 mm.
- If a low compression ratio is detected in the cylinder, then you just need to replace the worn parts.
- When adjusting valves, it is imperative that both valves, intake and exhaust, fit snugly and closely to the seat.
- Muffler cleaning.
General information, purpose and design features
For starters, it’s about and “Agro” - absolutely identical walk-behind tractors. Agros is an earlier version, and the design of the model has remained almost unchanged over many years of production.
The car is produced at the Ufa Engine Plant, which was founded in 1925. In the 1920s and 1930s, the company was considered the largest manufacturer of aircraft engines in the USSR. In peacetime, the plant began to master the production of agricultural machinery. The company's workforce now consists of more than 200 people. As for the Agros walk-behind tractor itself, its production began in 1998. The project turned out to be so successful that over the past years, about 40 thousand walk-behind tractors of the same name, as well as various attachments for them, have been produced and sold.
The production of the walk-behind tractor of the same name was completed in 2008 due to a complete stop in the production of all such equipment at the Ufa plant. The fact is that the company began to receive more orders for the production of aviation equipment, which is more profitable. In this regard, the assembly of "Agros" was stopped. However, later the walk-behind tractor began to be produced at another plant, which belongs to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ufa-Mechanika LLC.
The Argos model allows you to efficiently and effectively carry out work on cultivating the soil, planting and digging up root crops and other vegetable crops. The rich basic equipment allows you to perform the required amount of work for the first time. Thanks to the ability to connect various attachments, the walk-behind tractor can be turned into a full-fledged mini-tractor, capable of cultivating the soil to great depths, pumping water, transporting loads, etc.
Agros has a single-axle design with a power take-off shaft. The equipment is equipped with a differential with manual locking
This device is responsible for distributing the load on both wheels, which is very important when driving in difficult to reach areas.
It can be noted without any doubt that the Agros walk-behind tractor, together with mounted options, has wider capabilities. That is why, when choosing this equipment, many people are looking at purchasing additional options that allow them to unlock 100% of the potential of the walk-behind tractor.
How to repair a gasoline engine?
Before finding the true cause of the malfunction of this part, it is worth taking a number of actions:
- Turn on the ignition and check the presence of fuel in the tank.
- Open the fuel tap.
- We check whether the carburetor air damper is closed.
- Now you need to check whether fuel flows directly into the carburetor. To do this, simply disconnect the fuel hose from it and see if gasoline flows freely. If gasoline flows poorly in a thin stream or does not flow at all, the cap of the tank air valve is clogged. And then you just need to clean it.
Homemade walk-behind tractor from a Ural chainsaw
- The power plant for the walk-behind tractor project is a saw with a URAL BP-52-3.8 petrol engine with an engine power of 3.8 liters. With.
- The product is intended for plowing and loosening the soil, cultivating crops, and digging potatoes. The area of the land plot is 20 acres.
- The saw is fixed to the frame of the device using clamps and can be removed in half an hour - ready for use for working with wood.
- The frame is made of welded steel pipes ⌀ 24 mm.
- The transmission of torque to the wheel shaft is chain - in two stages. In the first stage, the sprocket is left from the saw. The chain with a pitch of 12.7 mm and the driven sprocket are selected from old bicycle equipment. The second stage is equipped with motorcycle sprockets and a chain with the same pitch - 12.7 mm.
- The drive wheel shaft is made of round steel profile and is mounted in the frame fork on bearings. The diameters of the mounting pads for bearings, wheel rims, and sprockets are selected according to the dimensions of the parts selected for assembly. The wheel rims and sprockets are secured to the shaft with keys.
The installation of drive chain protection covers will ensure your safety.

What if the gearbox chain fails?
Such a breakdown will be indicated by stopping the rotation of the power take-off shaft of the walk-behind tractor, and the gearbox itself will simply jam. It is possible that the chain itself has burst, then it just needs to be replaced and the PTO will resume its operation. Also, very often owners of walk-behind tractors have problems with adjusting attachments. For example, adjusting a plow on a walk-behind tractor involves the following actions:
- We secure the hitch with 1 kingpin, where the play in the horizontal position should correspond to 5° - 6°.
- We adjust the plowing depth. The norm would be somewhere deep into the ground by 5 - 7 cm.
- Adjusting the angle of attack. Place the walk-behind tractor with the plow on a flat surface. We unscrew the adjusting screw so that the plow touches the ground. And unscrew the screw back until the back of the canopy rises 2.5 cm from the ground.
These are the main points of plow adjustment that need to be made when installing it. Of course, this kind of breakdown of the Agro walk-behind tractor, such as turning on the power take-off shaft or adjusting the clutch, can be eliminated with your own hands without much difficulty. Also, if the Agro walk-behind tractor malfunctions, you should contact its instruction manual, where all problems with such equipment should be described in more detail. If you still understand, for example, that you need to disassemble the imported engine of your unit, that you are not sure that you will do it correctly, then it is still better to turn to specialists. Still, service centers can do detailed diagnostics and determine where the problem is with 100% accuracy. So, when in doubt, it is better to turn to professionals.

Each mechanism performs its own operation. A potato digger for the Agros walk-behind tractor digs up root crops. The harrow cuts off the top layers of the earth without turning the soil. A trolley with a load of no more than 400 kg is a single-axle, tipper trailer with a body that tilts 30° back and is used when transporting crops, equipment, and household items.
The peculiarity of the Agros design is that it has a universal hitch, with which it is possible to attach additional equipment from other manufacturers and home-made attachments.
Front adapter
The front adapter is a special module attached to the walk-behind tractor and consisting of the following parts:
- driver's seat;
- frame for installing structural parts;
- wheel axle or axle with 2 wheels;
- hitch for attaching a walk-behind tractor and adapters for attachments;
- steering wheel.
Such a machine is similar in functionality to a mini tractor, in which the driver occupies a comfortable position and skillfully controls the mechanism. The front adapter is easily assembled with a walk-behind tractor and can be combined with any attachment.
The manufacturer does not produce a device for the Agro walk-behind tractor, but the universal hitch allows you to install adapters from other manufacturers. Some owners of motor vehicles make an adapter for a walk-behind tractor with their own hands.

Detailed technical characteristics of the UMZ-341 engine
The engines are designed to operate under the following conditions:
— ambient air temperature from minus 20 to plus 40°С.
— relative humidity of the ambient air up to 98% at a temperature of plus 25°C
The UMZ-341 and UMZ-341E engines are a single-cylinder, four-stroke, gasoline, carburetor engine with overhead valves, spark ignition, with a horizontal engine shaft, with an inclined cylinder, and has a centrifugal all-mode speed controller and a balancing shaft.
The UMZ-341 engine is designed for installation on the Agro walk-behind tractor manufactured by JSC UMPO, supplied to the domestic market and for export to countries with temperate climates
The UMZ-341 E engine is made on the basis of the base model UMZ-341 and is intended to drive the AB-4 electric unit.
ENGINE ADJUSTMENT
Adjusting the UMZ-341 carburetor
The engine carburetor is adjusted in case of unstable engine operation.
1 Start the engine and warm it up without load for 2 to 3 minutes.
2 Turn out the idle speed adjusting screw 8 (Figure 3) to a position at which the engine begins to run unstably. Turning the screw slowly, achieve stable, uninterrupted operation of the engine.
3 By rotating the thrust screw 10, set the throttle valve to the minimum opening position, at which the engine runs stably at the minimum idle speed, then by rotating the adjusting screw 12 achieve a maximum increase in engine speed. Use the stop screw 10 to adjust the regulated speed
4 If gasoline is poured through the float chamber of the carburetor, it is necessary to remove the float chamber and check the condition of the float, shut-off needle, and valve seat

Adjusting the thermal valve clearances on the UMZ-341 engine
Adjust the gaps between the valve and the rocker arm on a cold engine in the following sequence
— remove covers 4 and 5 of the cylinder head and the starter;
— check the tightness of the cylinder head nuts;
- set the piston to the top dead center (TDC) of the compression stroke,
— loosen lock nut 6 and bushing 7 of rocker arm 8 and, inserting a 0.08 or 0.1 mm feeler plate between the heel of rocker arm 8 and the end of valve 3, tighten bushing 7 so that the feeler plate fits into the gap without biting; tighten lock nut 6;
— check the thermal clearances between the fifth of the rocker arm and the end of the intake and exhaust valve stems
Install the cylinder head and starter covers in place, securing with nuts.
Note: To more accurately install the piston at top dead center, it is necessary to remove the fan casing and align the “E” mark on the end of the flywheel with the “G” pin on the crankcase housing (Figure 1, sheet 3).

About the walk-behind tractor manufacturer and the history of this model
The Agros walk-behind tractor, also known as Agro, is an in-house development and product of the Ufa Engine Production Association (UMPO). For those who are not in the know: the enterprise is more than serious, producing aircraft engines. It was founded in 1925. At the turn of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, it is the largest developer and manufacturer of aircraft engines in Russia, employing more than twenty thousand people.
In the 90s, being in a very difficult situation due to the well-known economic and political situation in the country, the UMPO enterprise tried to master the production of products uncharacteristic for this plant, consumer goods (consumer goods). One of the samples of which was the “Agros” walk-behind tractor (later “Agro”). It was developed in 1996, and its production has been established in Ufa since 1998.
The project turned out to be quite successful: over the years, more than forty thousand walk-behind tractors of this model were produced and sold; many pieces of additional equipment for them.
In 2008, the production of walk-behind tractors at the Ufa Engine Production Association was curtailed. This decision was made in connection with a significant increase in the volume of work of UMPO in its main area - aviation. Motoblocks and other consumer goods (consumer goods) were removed from the enterprise’s product line as non-core products.
However, a few years later, a new life for Agro walk-behind tractors was given by a cooperation agreement signed between the Ufa Engine Production Association, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Bashkortostan and. According to this agreement, the production of Agro walk-behind tractors was transferred from UMPO to its partner in the regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Ufa-Mechanika LLC.
Ignition for walk-behind tractor
The walk-behind tractor engine ignition system ensures timely ignition of the fuel-air mixture in the cylinder. At maximum compression, a spark is formed at the spark plug, which ignites the mixture.
For a walk-behind tractor engine, the device that produces the spark is a magneto. A magnet of constant polarity rotates in a coil, creating an emf for the spark pulse. The energy storage device is a high-voltage coil or a capacitive capacitor.
Contact ignition of a walk-behind tractor
In contact systems, a pulse is formed when the contacts of the distributor break, which ensures sparking at the spark plug at the moment the mixture is compressed.
The disadvantage of such a system is the mechanical wear of constantly moving parts and contacts, which affects the stability and quality of the motor. The problem can be solved by timely adjustment and tuning of the ignition.
In non-contact devices, pulses are created by electronic switches based on a signal from a special sensor that records the piston reaching top dead center in the cylinder. There is no dependence of the quality of the spark on the state of the contact groups.
