The MTZ-82 tractor is one of the most popular models known to Russian people. They started producing these cars at the Minsk plant back in 1974.
Let us immediately remind you that it is almost 80% unified with the MTZ-80. They were developed in parallel. The differences were in the chassis: MTZ-80 had rear-wheel drive, and MTZ-82 had all-wheel drive.
In general, the MTZ-82 is a universal row-crop tractor of traction class 1.4. Structurally, it is practically no different from its brothers in the shop. The machine has a semi-frame layout.
As for the contribution to the national economy, it is difficult to overestimate it. There are more than 300 types of acceptable attachments alone. The machine is all-wheel drive, and both the rear and front axles can be locked, depending on the purpose. The tractor's cross-country ability is pleasing; it is quite difficult to get stuck on it, unless we are talking about completely dead-end situations.
Yes, harsh and effective technology sometimes lets you down in terms of comfort. MTZ-82 works loudly, and when moving, the shaking is felt very confident. Although the chair saves the situation. There are also some shock-absorbing springs inside the front suspension, but they don't really help matters. “Belarusian”, in a word.
Description
Among the range of mini tractors in Belarus, the most popular and well-known model is the MTZ 082. It first rolled off the assembly line in 1992. This is the first high-quality mini tractor that was developed for use in the conditions of our country.
Minitractor Belarus MTZ 082
MTZ 082 immediately found application both on small farms and on large plots of land. Now this is a popular car, the technical characteristics of which have stood the test of time.
The legendary MTZ-82 cannot be killed. Is that why they ask for more for it than for a Mercedes?
The search for a used, but in good condition, MTZ-82 tractor for private use can change your ideas about the world of things. He is, of course, a legend and irreplaceable in the countryside, however, having rummaged through the advertisements for personal purposes, we came to the conclusion that the price tag for this model on the secondary market can greatly surprise any unprepared beginner and change the plans to “settle down on the earth.”
First, let's refresh our memory a little. Serial production of MTZ-80/82 tractors with 80-horsepower D-240 engines began at the Minsk Tractor Plant in 1974. The models are 70% unified among themselves. The main difference between the 82nd is the presence of all-wheel drive. Both models are still produced in Minsk, although they have undergone some changes.
This is what the anniversary 2 millionth MTZ-82 looks like, rolled off the main assembly line of the Minsk Tractor Plant in 1984 and completely restored at its home enterprise last year after a glorious working life in the countryside (the tractor is now on display in the factory museum).
But such Belarus-82.1 tractors with an 81-horsepower D-243 engine are rolling off the assembly line in Minsk today. The model has proven itself well and is still in high demand, so the production of the “eighty two” continues, although along with the “classics” this family also contains other varieties with a more modern design and different engines.
Depending on the configuration, a new tractor costs from 37.5 to 40.7 thousand rubles including VAT ($17.5-19 thousand at the current exchange rate). The price for a “private owner” is not small. That's why we had to look for second-hand offers.
Of course, I wanted something newer. And we came across this proposal: “Belarus 82” (MTZ-82.1), “practice” equipment; a used tractor that does not require repairs. Engine - D-243. Year of release: 2018. Price: $13,300. We were given the task of spending no more than $4000. I had to go deeper...
The year is 2013. Three proposals of the same type from one utility company from Minsk with the same comment: chipped paintwork, discharged battery, traces of corrosion. Price - 21,384 rubles, or $9968.
The same office sells "Belarus-82.1" 2010. with the same “systemic” flaws: chipped paintwork, discharged battery, traces of corrosion. But it’s still expensive for us - 16,092 rubles, or $7,501.
And here is an offer from the Brest region: the same year of manufacture, “good condition”, homemade front fenders. Price: $6500. And although the owner agrees to bargain, it is unlikely that he is ready to give up as much as we need...
Go ahead. year 2009. The tractor is “in excellent condition, completely ready for work, documents are in order, with all numbers.” It looks really good, but they are asking...$8000 for it! Again not our option.
2008 But the price is even higher - $8500. At the same time, it is absolutely impossible to get an idea of the condition of the tractor from photographs. What was the seller thinking?
In the advertisements for 2004 we come across a very neat copy. Lots of photos and the first very detailed comment: “The tractor is in very good technical condition, as I planned to keep it for myself. Before the season we went through: the engine (piston, injectors, injection pump), gearbox, front drive axle, power steering. The rear linkage is almost all new. Good tires. A seat from a foreign car was installed. The rear fenders are overcooked, the front fenders are new. The documents are in perfect order, all numbers are legible.”
The author of the ad is asking $7,200 for the tractor and is ready to bargain. But he won’t be able to give up much, since a very certain amount is required to urgently close the loan...
The next sentence is already “warmer”. For MTZ-82-1 2004. asking $4500. But this is a tractor with a small cabin, and we were not pleased with its appearance. We will search further.
But for the “eighty deuce” of 2003 they are asking 10,000 rubles ($4,668 in equivalent). But we won’t bargain here: the tractor is not running...
Let's go even deeper. 2002 MTZ-82-1. In perfect condition, does not require investment. The documents are in perfect order (technical inspection, insurance). Price... $8000! Past...
Same year of manufacture, MTZ-82-1, good condition. The engine is in excellent condition. Hydrostatic steering, 2 new batteries. They are asking “only” $6200.
But this is almost what you need: for an MTZ-82-1 with a large unified cabin from 2002 they are asking 10,300 rubles ($4801). Upon inspection they promise to negotiate. However, payment is only non-cash, which, unfortunately, does not suit us.
Let's rewind two years ago. Prices don't even think about falling! A copy for $4800. The seller writes: “good condition”, but the appearance in the photo is frankly embarrassing...
But for sale is an MTZ-82 with a small cabin in “excellent condition” (“overhauled” in 2014). The price, naturally, is higher - $5850.
Another sentence from 2000: “The tractor is in excellent condition - I sat down and drove off.” But the owner asks $7,500 for his “miracle of technology.” Add a little, bargain and you can buy... two Mercedes-Benz C-Klasse (W202) with a diesel engine of the same year! Although, of course, you won’t plow in a Merc...
For the price, I could do with this tractor from 1995. — they are asking only $3,300 for it. According to the seller, the transmission and engine have been “rebuilt.” But there are nuances: “the cabin requires additional assembly (everything is there except time).” And the appearance is somehow not very good...
This MTZ-82 is much better preserved, although it was produced in 1993 - the tractor seems to be in really good condition. And they are asking $4,500 for it - almost what is needed.
This 1987 copy turned out to be even cheaper - 8,200 rubles ($3,827). However, something in the comments alarmed me: the “transfer case” on the box, the cardan shafts for the FDA and the support were not installed (new ones are included in the kit); The tractor does not start with the key, only directly.
Well, we also found this “rarity” for exactly the $4,000 we were looking for. Tractor from 1980 with a small cabin. But this is probably still more of a candidate for a place in the tractor factory museum.

Basic equipment
The factory package of the minitractor includes the machine itself, an instruction manual and a passport for the self-propelled machine. If you buy MTZ 082 secondhand, then ask the former owner to present these documents.
The manufacturer recommends using attachments from it. You can add additional purchase:
- Plow;
- Mills;
- Hiller;
- mower;
- Potato planter and potato digger;
- Snow blower;
- Trailer;
- Branch chopper.

Features of application
Before you start working with the mini tractor, you must check the presence of fuel and oil in the appropriate compartments.
If there is a shortage of gasoline, the engine will not start. Theoretically, the engine can operate without oil, but in this case friction increases and the likelihood of parts failure increases. To prevent this from happening, the MTZ 082 minitractor is equipped with an oil sensor that will prevent this from happening.
Also, before starting operation, you need to make sure that the attachments are securely fastened.
Owner reviews
Among the problems of the MTZ-82, it is noted that at the beginning of operation the clutch may “lead”, but later the gearbox wears in and this problem resolves itself. Also, at low temperatures, the hydraulic distributor rods, which are responsible for raising and lowering the bucket, may burst. Also, in winter the car may have difficulty starting. The cabin is often called obsolete and non-ergonomic: levers stick out from the floor, etc. Also, a lot of dust gets inside through the gaps in the casing. In addition, the body begins to rust quite quickly.
Another disadvantage is that the car leaks oil from almost everywhere, especially the axles, and after some time of operation the internal combustion engine also begins to “eat up” it. The supercharger causes some complaints; it fails quite often. Also among the complaints, a rather weak PTO is often mentioned. Nevertheless, for the most part, MTZ-82 has a positive reputation: a typical “Belarusian hard worker” knows his job, but has his drawbacks. As for the price, on the secondary market it ranges from 1 to 1.3 million rubles, new models are about 300 thousand rubles more expensive.

Device
One of the main advantages of the Belarus MTZ 082 minitractor is the Briggs&Stratton engine with a power of 16 horsepower.
The MTZ 082 is equipped with all-wheel drive with the ability to lock the rear wheels to save gasoline.
To improve control, a frameless bridge is installed, which allows the device to be turned within a 2.5 m area. This is especially useful when working in small agricultural areas or in urban environments.
Application area
The scope of Belarus' tasks includes performing municipal and agricultural work.
- Expansion of capabilities is carried out through the use of mounted tools.
- The latter can be passive or active, driven by a power take-off shaft.
- Fixed implements are used when plowing, harrowing or cultivating the soil.
Active mechanisms use:
- for mowing grass;
- planting/sowing plants;
- harvesting;
- clearing the area of snow or debris.
The maneuverable “tractor baby” is used in greenhouse farming, where cramped conditions make it difficult to use full-size equipment.
User manual
Before starting full use of the new MTZ 082 tractors, a run-in should be carried out. At this time, it is necessary to use Belarus at minimum engine load. This is done so that the motor parts are well lubricated and fit into the grooves.
In addition, the operating instructions contain information regarding the assembly process, technical characteristics, structure and maintenance work associated with MTZ 082.
Please note that it is prohibited to use a mini tractor for transporting people (one operator per seat is permissible).
The following video provides an overview of the device, technical characteristics and an example of plowing MTZ 082:
Service
To maintain the serviceability and characteristics of the Belarus MTZ 082 mini tractor, maintenance work should be carried out regularly.
- Engine oil should be replaced every 80 hours of operation of the Belarus 082. It is recommended to use M-8DM or M-8G2k as a fresh lubricant.
- Transmission oil must be changed after the winter break or once every 100 hours of operation. It is recommended to fill in TAD-17I or Tap-15V.
Motor oil M-8DM
motor oil M-8G2k
Oil TAD-17I
- Before changing the oil in the MTZ 082 minitractor, it is necessary to drain the oil.
- It is necessary to regularly clean the body of the minitractor from dust and oil stains, monitor the tire pressure, and also adjust the clutch and brake pedals every 50-100 hours of operation.
- At the end of field work, conservation is carried out, namely: the tractor is cleaned of dirt, dried, drained of oil and fuel, parts are lubricated to prevent corrosion from forming, covered and placed in a dry place.
Advantages and disadvantages
MTZ-92 is a vehicle with great capabilities. This model has the following advantages:
- Economical fuel consumption.
- High performance engine power, which helps to complete planned work faster.
- The tractor is equipped with a hitch system for a wide range of additional equipment.
- The equipment is easy to maintain and repair. All spare parts are publicly available and at low prices compared to foreign analogues. This helps reduce downtime during scheduled and corrective maintenance.
- Comfortable access to all working systems, components and assemblies, which also reduces the time spent on repair work.
- The ability to work with energy-consuming equipment is provided.
- Increased load capacity.
- High cross-country ability, which is provided by 2 driving pairs of wheels.
- High quality assembly and spare parts.
- The driver is provided with a comfortable cabin of the latest generation.
Experts and users note the following disadvantages of this tractor model:
- An electric torch heater is not provided. At a temperature of -15...-20°C it is difficult to start the engine.
- It is not recommended to use the equipment as a tractor. The maximum speed that this model can develop in this case will be 15 km/h, which is unprofitable.
- The suspension is of a rigid type, which causes inconvenience to the driver when driving off-road.
