Snowmobiles Buran AD and ADE are modified versions of the Buran AE model. The difference from its predecessor is only in the elongated frame and, as a result, better ground clearance and load capacity (according to reviews from owners, this tuning has improved the quality of movement in deep snow). Otherwise, the design is the same as the original one: there is one support-steering ski and two tracks, allowing the vehicle to be considered a snow all-terrain vehicle.
Design and equipment
The main purpose of the Buran AD/ADE is to tow various loads and use it as a compact tractor. The extended frame made it possible to install a two-seater, two-level seat on the snowmobile. In addition, with this modification, the weight limit of the towed load increased to 560 kg. But the enlarged frame also has its drawbacks, one of which is insufficient maneuverability. Because of this, Buran ADE is not suitable for use in forest areas, since it is very difficult to go around trees.
It is worth noting that AD/ADE was previously called SB-640MD or Arctic. So if you come across offers in a store for the sale of cars with this name, then know that we are talking about the same snowmobile.
The basic package of Buran includes:
- Electric starter.
- Reverse gear.
- Heated steering wheel grips and throttle trigger.
- Windshield.
- Passenger backrest.
- Rear towbar.
- Speedometer.
- Odometer.
The tracks have a wide base, which provides improved traction with the surface. This feature of the chassis allows you to confidently move on slopes with loose snow.
All Burans are famous for their high reliability and maintainability. A snowmobile can be repaired even in rather extreme conditions far from civilization, which also influenced the popularity of this technique. The parts are universal and can be found in all motorcycle parts stores.
Design Features (long)
The Buran Leader snowmobile has received improved technical characteristics, including a high steering wheel, a durable bumper and an automatic reverse chain tensioner. Like the previous model of this family, it is available in two modifications. A track with an extended base has more weight and a longer track. Thanks to this, he had additional space for transporting luggage. And, of course, it is longer and, accordingly, more comfortable for riding with a passenger.
High steering wheel
The tall handlebar comes with a short or long wheelbase. In combination with heated throttle trigger and grips, as well as a high impact-resistant windshield, it provides a high level of comfort when driving on any terrain. In addition, for greater convenience, the manufacturer placed a headlamp mode switching unit and an emergency stop button for the unit on the steering wheel.
Reinforced bumper
The new bumper has six attachment points to the frame. It is not afraid of external impacts; it does a good job of protecting the hood while driving through forests and densely growing bushes.
Automatic tensioner
Another innovation that allows you to speed up snowmobile maintenance is an automatic reverse gear chain tensioner. Tension is carried out using a screw mechanism: the axes of the balancers move in the grooves of the brackets. The grooves are located along the frame, welded to its sides and middle rib.

Engine Description
The Buran ADE winter bike is equipped with a two-stroke, two-cylinder power plant RMZ-640. This engine has a lower compression ratio, which makes it possible to use not only AI-92 gasoline as fuel, but also cheaper A-76 and AI-80. In extreme cases, you can fill in gas condensate (gasoline) - even with it, the engine confidently develops its power characteristics.
A Mikuni float-type carburetor is installed inside the Buran. The diameter of each cylinder is 76 mm. Their total working volume is 635 cm³. The piston stroke is 70 mm. With all this, the RMZ-640 is capable of developing a rated power of 34 horsepower. The unit is protected from overheating by an air cooling system.
Tuning and test drive
You can find many video reviews of Leader test drives on the Internet. In them you can clearly see the appearance and main functions of this snowmobile track. Not to say that Buran has advanced characteristics, but it lends itself well to tuning. There are a number of companies that assemble special tuning kits. Often, when purchasing such a kit, the owner of a snowmobile can save a lot of money.
Engine and chassis tuning
A typical tuning kit includes:
- Honda engine with two cylinders, 22 hp. With.;
- Arctic regulator with four cams;
- battery with a reserve of 24 ampere-hours;
- bumper bumper;
- soundproofed hood;
- cable for the engine (fastening).
In addition, you can improve the brake system of the track by installing a lightweight spring.
It is not necessary to completely change the engine. It is enough to order separately some of these components. The finished tuning kit includes. DD races with cuffs, bearing with piston pin MAHLE KONIG (Austria), original ALMET pistons made in the Czech Republic.
In addition to upgrading the engine, you can install a pair of new Polarnik tracks with a roller balancer, a driven shaft and a pipe-type oiler.
Appearance tuning
In addition to upgrading the driving properties, the owner can also improve the appearance of his truck. The design of the snowmobile allows you to install a modern on-board computer that will display speed, revolutions and engine temperature. This will allow you to expand the capabilities of the all-terrain vehicle, making it similar to more expensive imported models.
An updated hood will make the truck more attractive. You can improve night lighting, add LED bulbs, change the base color. Installing a winch will not only make the car more aggressive, but also add functionality to it.
How much does a snowmobile cost?
The cost of a new Buran AD/ADE is 255,000-256,000 rubles. There are official dealer showrooms in all major cities - the price of a bike there remains unchanged, only the rates for delivery by mail or courier change.
A used option will cost less - 220,000 - 240,000 rubles. Here the price varies depending on the year of production, general technical condition and the number of kilometers traveled.
Case for the Buran AD snowmobile
If the ADE breaks down or you decide to take a faulty motorbike (it costs less than 180,000 rubles), you will need spare parts. They can be purchased at any motorcycle parts store. Approximate prices for some components (in rubles):
Driven shaft assembly | 1550 |

Operating instructions (Buran Leader ADE and K)
The user manual contains information on the general appearance of models A, AD and ADE, their design and maintenance of the main units. At the end, the owner can find a table with a list of typical faults, as well as methods for eliminating them.
Types and frequency of maintenance
Maintenance is an important component of the operation of any technical device. Snowmobiles require special attention because they are used in harsh conditions. In order for the engine and main components of the track to work properly for a long time, you need to properly care for them.
There are several types of maintenance, which include a number of specific activities. Depending on the frequency, they can be classified into the following types:
Daily (DU) | This is done every time before leaving and upon returning to the garage. |
Maintenance after break-in | Performed after 250-350 km. |
TO-1 | Every 950-1050 km. |
TO-2 | Every 2000 (± 50 km). |
Seasonal (SO) | Preservation at the end of the season or before a long storage period. Also carried out after re-preservation during commissioning. |
The attached manual contains a table indicating the names of maintenance operations and types. The “+” sign indicates actions that must be performed during a particular type of work. Below is more detailed information about the operations carried out regarding maintenance:
- engine;
- chassis;
- hydraulic brake system;
- electrical equipment;
- control mechanisms.
It also provides recommendations for lubrication, break-in and daily maintenance.
Daily maintenance
The main task of the EO work is to prevent the departure of a faulty snowmobile. It includes a number of mandatory operations:
- checking the fuel level in the tank and oil in the reverse gearbox;
- inspection of the tracks, skis, springs and towing device;
- checking the serviceability of the steering, brake system, gear shift lever;
- diagnostics of engine idle speed;
- inspect the lighting system to ensure that the wires are completely insulated;
- checking the availability of spare parts and repair equipment.
In addition, it is necessary to check the presence of gasoline and oil leaks and the reliability of the fastenings. When diagnosing malfunctions, you should fix them yourself or contact a specialized service center.
